STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT! The car dealer would not buy back my…read more2014 iQ (Toyota Scion brand) saying it was too old. But CARMAX didn't flinch when providing an online offer so I took it in, expecting they would lowball it, which they did: by 1/3. However, some inconsistencies were reported by the agency, reflecting odometer tampering, battery & tires purchase dates, that were bringing down the price. Jose, at the Independence store gave me a number to call and see if the agency could match the information could explain so it could be updated before COB. Agency said it would take 3 hours, already 2:30, so it would be close. Long story short, the agency came through (I didn't have to spend the night in the store, as I had decided to stay until the items were updated). The final check was just what I was quoted on the CARMAX site. I knew what my car's value was. It was PERFECT and the store could set it out on the lot without touching up anything! EVERYONE, whether selling outright, or trading, should read carefully the details on the printed estimate that can bring a car's price down several thousand dollars. I ended up walking out with a check a few hundred less than the original online offer. Hats off to employees, Jose (shop), and Tiffany & Janelle, (office) who assisted me with my mobility issues and got me out of there fast. Thanks, Indep Valley View.

Update: DriveTime & Bridgecrest - A Coordinated Scam That Lacks Basic Human Decency…read more Since my last update, my daughter went to DriveTime in person to speak directly with the General Manager, hoping for some level of assistance or at least compassion regarding the constant mechanical failures she has endured since purchasing the vehicle. Unfortunately, what she received was a dismissive, cold-hearted response. Despite the fact that she has only had the car for 90 days, the General Manager stated that because she was outside of the 30-day warranty, she was fully responsible for all major repairs--ignoring the fact that the car's brakes, rotors, tires, and oil system were already failing when she bought it. In an effort to appeal to his humanity, my daughter explained that this was her first time purchasing a car without her father, who passed away in 2022. His response? "If it was my daughter, I would let her learn her lesson." What kind of company leader responds that way to a struggling young mother? When she showed him pictures of the car's damages, he outright denied that DriveTime sold it in that condition, refusing to take any accountability. Instead of offering real help, he gave her a random mechanic's number and told her that her only option was to "sacrifice" and get it fixed herself. That meant: * Paying for a tow to a repair shop * Paying a mechanic for diagnostic testing * Paying for expensive repairs * AND still making her car payments--for a vehicle that isn't even driveable Even after all this, Bridgecrest continued harassing her for payments without any acknowledgment of the situation. Their customer service reps refuse to escalate calls, and the only response she gets is "When are you going to make the payment?" At this point, it is clear that DriveTime and Bridgecrest operate as a coordinated scam--preying on hardworking people, pushing them into unreliable cars, and offering no real solutions when those cars fail. My daughter has now towed the vehicle to a mechanic, and I will provide further updates once we receive a full diagnostic report on the damages. To anyone considering buying a car from DriveTime or financing through Bridgecrest--DON'T. This company does not care about its customers, their financial well-being, or their basic dignity. Avoid them at all costs.

The oil apparently needs checked often to prevent low oil and possibly blowing the motor. I woke up on Friday and the car wouldn't start so a tow came and got it because they had y vehicle and when I got back I test drove a couple more but they were too expensive so they told me if I kept this car they would fix everything on it. I told him the muffler needs fixed, the brakes need fixed, the battery (obviously)and the tire pressure sensor needs fixed. I got told they put it on the machine and the error they got was only saying the battery was bad (diagnostic machines don't do that). Out of all that they only replaced the battery and finally on day 4 of purchasing the car they fixed the tire pressure sensor. They said if they fixed the muffler it would make the price of the car go up meaning they knew it was bad. I wanted to know what made the battery go bad and so I had it put on diagnostic machine from my mechanic and it is a bunch of things that all connected to the body control module and that it is going bad. I relay that to my rep and he just blows me off. It's an $500- $1500 fix!!! Don't buy a car from here unless you expect to spend at least $20,000.
