I've rented from these folks in Kingston for 3 years in a row and their service is excellent. I had a problem with a car last year and they had a replacement car ready for me the same day. Horrible experience. Because both my partner and i's drivers license were out of state they had to verify our address with the credit card we were using. Both cards when searched did not match with the provided billing address so we were denied a car all together. We individually called both of our banks and confirmed our billing addresses just as we gave the enterprise employees. There had to have been a flaw with the third party service they were using for address verification. I'll continue to stick with National car rental where I receive a premier customer experience. read more

I have always used Enterprise Rent-A-Car, in San Francisco, Boulder, Co, Monterey, Ca but when I rented in Kingston, NY, their reputation and my impression of them as being a more personable rental company, quickly evaporated. I picked up the rental car in the morning and agreed to pay $664 for five days. That night I came down with full on Covid, first time ever. The car stayed parked for the next three days until I felt well enough to deal with ANYTHING, I called Enterprise to explain my situation. The first thing the guy said was "We can't go near the car for 3 days after you've been in it, and you have to drop it off." Then said he could let me have it for a good price for a week. So basically after wasting $664, he was offering to let me pay more and let it sit unused for another 2 days. After me protests he said they would let someone else drop it off. I paid a couple of my daughter's friends to drive it there the next night and drop it off. Meaning I had the car for less time than I had reserved it for but was charged full price. I will say it was a very uncompassionate response to an unavoidable situation. It never occurred to them to reduce the price, or be sympathetic and offer to pick it up since I had not been in the car for three days anyway. Very disappointing , I will never use this rental service again. read more

From the moment they called me to remind me about the time and the place I needed to stop by to pick up my car and till the time they said good bye, I had the best experience. I love this Enterprise! Everyone is pleasant and helpful. While other locations can literally keep you there for up to an hour filling out forms and waiting in line, these peeps get you in and out in no time! And, one time I got stranded there and they gave me a ride home right away. It was so cool! I'd say the only downside are the rules corporate seems to change every three weeks, around types of payment the company will accept. It is odd that a family run business does that. Beware reserving a car here, because even with a "confirmation email" in hand you may not get a car. I reserved a car on a Thursday night from this Enterprise location for the following day, and received a confirmation by email. The following morning I called to try to arrange for a pick up at our hotel when this office supposedly opens, at 9am. No answer. After 20 minutes of periodically trying, finally someone picks up and I ask if we can get picked up from our hotel. The agent puts me on hold, seemingly trying to arrange for the ride, but after being put on hold for a minute, the manager gets on the phone to tell me there are no cars available, confirmation email notwithstanding. He said he would call me around noon to let me know if a car became available, but I never got another call. A frustrating experience and a complete waste of time. read more

In my case, extra insurance when renting through my insurance company. 2) Requesting a certain size vehicle and taking it upon themselves to upgrade and charging you for it. In my case, 'none of the sizes you requested have been cleaned.' When I asked if it was the same daily rate, see 1) above. So instead of $28 per day for a compact, $49.99 per day, which was quoted at $17--that should have given me a clue! 3) No way to leave feedback or lodge a complaint on-line. This is the best car rental experience my husband and I had in years. The staff at both ends of the rental was knowledgeable and polite and the service impeccable. We rented a car at jfk to drive back Upstate after a long trip. At the airport desk, we were helped immediately: a real bonus since we were super-jet legged. The clerk upgraded us for free to a better and bigger car without us even asking for it. The best part came when we brought back the car to the Kingston's office and a really friendly rep named Kieran offered to drive us home. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. Steve from the office called me the day before to confirm my reservation and the tme I would be checking in. They upgraded me to an SUV from economy because they didn't have any economy cars available. (I understand this could be a negative for some, but I appreciated the company's gesture.) I wish I could give this office NO STARS. Not having any other alternatives in my area for pickup, I tried them again to my chagrin. I made my reservation for a car, which I was told was available, through the corporate office because the local yokels were closed. When I went to confirm it this morning, I was told that they only had a pickup truck available! I missed an important family event because of this. The other Kingston office on Rt. 28 was never this bad. In case my original review is deleted by this update, here it is: I wonder if anyone else here who is disgruntled with Enterprise ever receives an answer from them. A supervisor left me voice mail to which I immediately responded - twice! He never called back. As their response here indicates, I sent an e-mail on 3/30/17 that has never been answered. Here is my original: Inept corporate reservationist and terrible local service. I called to be picked up locally when I made my reservation. At the designated time I called for the pickup at my car mechanic's garage. The local rep told me that there was no pickup scheduled. However, the reservationist had to look up the address of my mechanic to schedule it. Either she forgot or the local business was too busy with only 2 people on staff to handle it. My mechanic wanted to close shop, so he had one of his staff drive me over to Enterprise. Well, I got "Enterprised" again when I stood there giving my debit card and license. They wanted a utility bill in order to process the car rental! The corporate reservationist never asked me about payment methods (she was supposed to). I have also used this agency many, many times in the past with a debit card. Don't they archive their customers? As big as my tote bag is, I do not keep bills of any kind in it. It was after 5pm by this time and the office was full of people waiting for their rentals. The local rep offered the company computer for me to locate a utility bill online, but I couldn't remember my passwords as they are filled in for me on my computer. So there I stood with 4 bags of groceries, some perishable, humiliated to the bone and trying to hold in the tears which were obvious to those in the waiting room with pitying glances. For a senior citizen to be treated this way is abominable. I felt like a homeless waif. I asked for a phone book to call a taxi, but they had NO phone book! I should have just called 911. I finally was able to get my neighbor to pick me up. I'm glad she was available, as my other contacts produced voicemail messages. Otherwise, I'd have been standing outside a closed up office for God knows how long. This was one of the most traumatic experiences I've ever had. So i had a rental from the enterprise in kingston ny on ulster ave and while i was there i had great service however the employees there told me that i had to put a deposit down and i didnt understand why seeming my insurance was covering it but they said everyone had to do this and that i would be refunded my deposit as soon as i returned the car here it is almost 3 weeks later from the return date of the car and the refund has not been done and every time i call the store they say oh the accountant had already put it through i call my bank and they say it still jas not been refunded i feel like enterprise is teying to keep my deposit i will never recomend them to any one nor will i ever use them again read more

Enterprise is my "go to" place when I need a rental. They're helpful, friendly, professional, and have plenty of great deals. They're a life saver, since I recently moved to Kingston from the city, and I don't own a car. They currently have a 3-day weekend deal for under $30 for the entire weekend. This week I needed a car just for the day, and they had a special for under $25. With these rates it makes more sense to rent than to buy. And they pick me up and drop me off. Renter beware. I returned my undamaged vehicle 12pm on Saturday not realizing the branch was closed for a holiday weekend. Parked my rental and dropped the keys in the box. The following Thursday I got a call from their assistant manager stating there was damage to the vehicle and I was responsible as it was not there when I rented it. I asked to see the damage and was denied as they had already sent the car for repair. I asked to see the security footage of the parking lot and was also denied. This vehicle was damaged in their lot by another driver. I just got the $800 bill from my insurance company for this repair. I am a corporate renter who used this branch frequently. Although this particular rental was for personal use, I declined additional insurance through them. I will now go out of my way to use another establishment for all of my rental needs. read more

I have never written a bad review, however, never before going to this enterprise have I felt compelled to do so. . . I reserved a rental car online which was supposed to have unlimited miles. After waiting an hour to talk to someone, I found out that by unlimited miles they meant 1,050 per week if you traveled outside the state. It is .25 a mile after that...They told me I could have found that out if I had called to check. I did call, three times in fact, no one ever picked up the phone. I decided to go ahead and rent the car anyway, they said they were going to upgrade me to a better car, that is their standard size car, instead of their compact size. The car I reserved was a standard size, so the upgraded car was not an upgrade, but the car I had reserved in the first place. So this was another clue that they were not paying attention and I was not a valued customer. As I went to pay, they refused my Debit-Visa card, because it said the word Debit on it. By the way, on the wall they have a sign that says they will not refuse payment by debit card, this was pointed out by a nice gentlemen waiting on line behind me. I offered to show them my bank statement on my phone, but it had no effect. My mother was with me and offered her credit card, we got a blank stare and a no, that it wasn't possible. She then offered to rent the car in her name and list me as a driver, the answer was that each driver needed to have a credit card. WHAT? I have never heard that before, a license for each driver yes, a credit card? No...After an hour and a half, I walked away frustrated and without a car to get to where I need to go. They didn't care, they didn't try to accommodate me or come up with a solution. They kept telling me I should have called. As I said, I DID CALL! I have rented cars from other companies and have never had such poor service, actually in the past it has always been quite pleasant and easy. Anyway, I don't think I will ever rent from Enterprise or try to again. There are certainly other car rental companies that will treat me much better. read more

First I dealt with the guys from Poughkipsee, and that was a mess. Then I arrived in NY and I needed a car asap. Im under 21 and needed to be approved. I went in and gave them my info and they said within 24 hrs. Its been 4 days and I am still waiting. I have insurance and great credit so idk what is taking so long, but i am so livid because I needed that car and i am still waiting. The free pick up ride was an hour late and claimed they were there, the workers there are all stupid and seem to lie (or should I say 'over exaggerate'), they are slow and have poor service, ultimiately they are just incompetent, EVERYONE (not just us.. but everyone, including when we picked up the car and the next day when we dropped it off.. EVERYONE!) had issues with their reservations.. that's how poorly run and managed this Enterprise is. terrible terrible terrible. I reserved a car a month in advance and said I would pick it up early in the morning. The employee told me they open at 8:00 so I said I would see him then. Not realizing they hold you to that exact time I got there at 9:30 due to a delay only to find out they let my rental go an hour earlier because I never showed up. They had my phone number and didn't think to call me first?!? He told me they rented it out to a dealership so I hope they get a lot of business thru them since they treat the public so badly. He then offered me a minivan and when I said no because it would cost more for gas and daily rental he said the gas would be the same -how stupid do you think I am - and he would meet me half way on the rental. NO WAY! I called Hertz from the parking lot and they hooked me up with a great car immediately and charged me less because of my AAA membership which Enterprise doesn't do. I had a great experience with Enterprise on Ulster Avenue in Kingston, NY. Stephanie welcomed me to the office, and completed the paperwork within a few minutes. She explained all the details very clearly, and answered all my questions. The car was clean and in good shape, and it drove well on the highway.
