Feeling Scammed! I apologize in advance for my long winded…read morereview, but this has been quite the experience. I took my car to Redline to have the AC system assessed and possibly fixed depending on the estimated cost approximately 1 month ago. I have now been to this place 6 times total, and still don't have a working AC system. After completing the diagnostics, I understandably had to bring it in for the 2nd time to determine where the leaks were occurring. I was then told it was thankfully NOT the compressor, but there were other leaks that needed to be repaired, which would cost around $300 (no formal estimate was provided, trust me, I have learned my lesson). I was told that once they got in there and further assessed the issue, they could find more leaks or issues, again this was understandable. I thought that $300 was a reasonable amount based on my budget and the value of the car, so I proceeded with the repair, which had to be completed upon a 3rd visit. After bringing it in the 3rd time, I received a call in which I was told the wrong part had been delivered and they needed me to keep it there over the weekend (not an option) or bring it back in the following week. I was told that I would receive a discount due to this inconvenience. I brought it in for a 4thtime, at which time it was "repaired." Not once did I receive a call informing me that the cost would be more than $300, to confirm if I was ok with that. I found out when I picked my car up that it was in fact $200 more than had been estimated, and even with the discount provided, was still just over 100 more than quoted. I didn't think this was an honest thing to do, but paid the bill and left. Approximately 2 weeks later, the AC was not working, so I brought it back for a 5th time. Prior to the diagnostics, I confirmed that I would not be charged, particularly since I had just had the AC fixed. However, I was told this would depend on their assessment and the work that needed to be done. I was told they just had to top up the Freon, which I thought would have been done when they repaired the AC. I was again told the compressor was not the problem. I was not charged for this visit. Approximately 1-2 weeks after that, the AC stopped working again and I brought it back for a 6thtime. After multiple assessments and AC repair, I'm now told that the compressor IS the problem, and was given information regarding the cost of repair. Upon trying to explain how frustrated I was with this situation, I was repeatedly cut off and interrupted by the staff assisting me. He proceeded to tell me that they could never have guaranteed it was not the compressor, and that there is no real way to test the compressor. After speaking with friends with auto mechanics knowledge, I have been told this is untrue. Even if it was true, I was not given this information before deciding to proceed with repairs. I would NOT have opted for repair if I knew it was going to cost me over $1000, I would have rather used that money to save for a replacement, especially since I had gone 3 years without AC already. He then used the excuse that they couldn't have guaranteed functioning AC after the repair due to the age of the car (2013), that it had been in an accident a few years ago, and because I hadn't purchased the car from them. There was no acknowledgement that I had paid nearly $500 and still don't have a functioning AC system, nor for the inconvenience I have encountered bringing my car in 6 times. There was also no attempt to come to any sort of a compromise, or to listen to my concerns. I would most definitely NOT recommend this auto service given my wasted time and money, as well as the poor customer service! In hindsight I would have gotten a second opinion, done a bit of research, and ensured I was provided with a written estimate before agreeing to pay for any repairs. Lesson learned!

Eight days after I picked up my car, it chugged to a stop after overheating, leaving me stranded on…read morethe side of the highway with my kids. In the eight days since buying it, there had been no coolant leaking at my house. I had actually been checking the driveway regularly as part of my new-to-me car routine and had seen nothing. I used my own CAA membership to have the car towed back to Redline. Their mechanic found the coolant extremely low and had to add a significant amount--about a jug and a half. There was no visible leak while the coolant was being added. To the mechanic's credit, he did not minimize how much coolant the "thirsty car" needed. Three days later, the situation changed dramatically. While I was at the grocery store, a significant amount of coolant began leaking underneath the vehicle. I have attached the photo I took at the time. By the time we made the approximately five-minute drive home, the car was overheating again. That leaves me with some serious questions. If the coolant was checked and topped up before I took possession, where did that much coolant go during those first eight days when there was no visible leak? If it was not checked, how long had the vehicle been operating with insufficient coolant before I bought it? I cannot answer either question, and that is precisely the problem. What also concerned me was the initial response. I was told there was no chance this could cause further issues. Dave, the salesman, told me that low fluid levels can be normal and suggested it could be air in the engine, which "happens and is fine." Interestingly, those explanations were not repeated when I later returned with my boyfriend, who is a mechanic. My trust in the company at this point is shot, but I want to distinguish that from my opinion of the mechanics. I still question whether something was missed during the inspection or preparation of the vehicle, and they have not been perfect throughout this. However, making a mistake and being dishonest about one are two very different things. I trust the mechanics to be forthcoming about what they find and am comfortable having them diagnose the vehicle. I also do not want the mechanics or service department to become the scapegoat for my overall experience. They are not the reason this review is as negative as it is. Had the entire situation been handled with the same straightforwardness I have experienced from them, this would be a considerably higher rating. I bought a used vehicle. I did not expect a perfect vehicle, and mechanical problems can happen. I did expect reasonable confidence that basic fluid levels had been checked before it was handed over to me, and a straightforward response when it broke down eight days after I drove it off their lot. UPDATE: After my initial negative review was posted, I received an email from the General Manager asking me to remove what he described as my "deceptive reviews" and reminding me that you "get more bees with honey." I have attached the email so readers can see exactly what was said, in context, and draw their own conclusions. Since then, there has been a positive development. Redline has agreed to collect the vehicle with their own tow truck after all. They were willing to look at it the same day if I could get it there myself last friday, but I have exhausted the towing kilometres available through my CAA membership. They have now offered to collect it on Wednesday if I am willing to wait. I appreciate them doing that and have agreed to wait. I want this review to reflect positive developments as accurately as the negative ones, and they deserve credit for resolving the towing issue. That is where things currently stand. I will update this review again once the vehicle has been inspected and I know what they find and how they handle things from here.
