My view from the waiting area. The ladder is unexpected!
Mary T.

My review is for 3.5 stars, but I will round up. I have rented a car from this location twice. Both times, I needed a car to get me around because my own car had to be serviced at a body shop. The first time was years ago when I owned a Prius. A City of Toronto truck rear-ended my car on Highway 27, just south of Humber College. There was already an accident on the shoulder, the guy driving behind me got too distracted, and plowed into my vehicle when all other cars around me were stopped. My car's trunk was damaged. This time around, someone had sideswiped my car that was parked in a parking lot when I was doing grocery shopping. It was considered a hit-and-run incident. There were scratches to the rear driver-side door and scratches on the body above the rear tire. In both cases, Enterprise was my rental place. The first time, I was taken care of and drove a Dodge Caliber for a week. It was comfortable and did the job. Everyone was nice. I especially enjoyed my conversation with the driver as he drove me over to the Toyota body shop back then. This time, my car was being fixed at Assured. Last Wednesday, Assured called Enterprise to pick me up. The delay was noticeable. Dave, my representative at Assured, called Enterprise again, which is no more than three minutes away by car. Moments later, the person came to pick me up. Frankly, this driver rubbed me the wrong way right off the bat. He fired questions left, right, and anywhere he could. "What's wrong with your car? Were you injured? What do you drive? Why didn't you stick with a Prius?" It wasn't a conversation. It was an interrogation by a young guy, probably still in his 20's, who needs to grow and learn the art of both talking and listening. He did manage to drive me over to Enterprise. I went into the place and talked to two other representative, who also asked me the same questions: - What happened? - Are you okay? Seriously, why couldn't the third guy, who didn't deal with me at all, start a conversation with me with the same questions that his colleague had just asked me three minutes ago? He was there with his colleague during the whole time! I politely said that I am sounding like a broken record and my answers need to be recorded, but still answered him. Tip to Enterprise: Have the guy getting my car rental set up ask me questions. I don't need three Enterprise guys asking me the same questions. Start a conversation. Ask what I do for a living or what I like to eat. We went outside to see my rental car, which was a Nissan Sentra. There were paint chips around the trunk area. I liked how the representative didn't note my comment until the third time I said it. Ah, fun! Anyway, I drove off. It's a good car. It's roomy for a 5'10" woman. I returned the car this morning, as my car was ready for pickup. I had a better experience today. First, I talked to one Enterprise representative. He was young, but his rapport was perfect. Second, the person driving me back was older, was courteous (he opened the door for me to my rental car, but the passenger side, which was a pleasant surprise), and we had a nice conversation over to Assured. He also had to adjust the driver side, as I am taller that he. I hope that I don't rent from Enterprise again in the near future, for that means that something's wrong with my car. When there are issues with my car and it has to stay at the shop for a bit, Enterprise is a decent place to get a rental car. (53)

Don't rent from this company. You end up paying more for their cars, including horrible customer…read moreservice, as they add in hidden fees left and right. It isn't worth the way they treat you - go with a reputable known car rental company. My experience with this organization made the beginning of my trip and the end of my trip an awful experience. Don't leave them your credit card number as they will add charges to it months later as happened with me, including adding a $50 service fee......so like $50 for them to add a charge to your credit card. Did I mention the horrible customer service? Yeah, stay away, far away from this business. You get what you pay for and though I was excited to find a car rental that was economical, by the time they were done with me it cost me more than if I had just gone to a known rental company.

I honestly would give them a 0 for over the telephone customer service. It is better to just go…read morewith one of the more reliable companies that DO require a credit card. I just called and inquired about their insurance, and the guy tries to explain how deductibles work, as if I have never had car insurance myself. Then I got to the IMPORTANT question- IF the rental is parked in a parking lot, and you are in a store, and some one backs up into the vehicle, scratches and damages it, who is responsible? The man over the phone says: NO YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT YOURSELF, and SCREAMED my ear off and mocked me when I told him it was the 'stupidest thing I ever heard.' Technically false advertisement on behalf of these guys to save their own butts with the insurance companies, and then you end up being responsible for damage you did not even cause. There is always a catch for incidents that might not occur often, but actually do end up happening. Be safe shopping out there.

A complete headache from start to finish. Avoid Routes…read more We will never rent from Routes again. Despite there being no line when we arrived at their off-airport location, the pickup process took an eternity. There was an endless mountain of paperwork (some on paper and some digital) and upsell offers, and more than half the time, we were just standing there with no idea what we were actually waiting for. It took just as long for the car to finally be brought out to us. When we finally got the vehicle, it only had 1/4 tank of gas. While they only required us to return it with the same amount, starting a trip on empty is incredibly inconvenient, especially if you have a long drive ahead. To make matters worse, the car was FILTHY. I have never seen a dirtier rental car. The exterior was bad, but the interior was gross. The rearview mirror was so caked in grime that it actively blocked the driver's view--wiping it with a simple tissue brought up a disgusting amount of dirt. Even worse, we found used chewing gum left behind in the rear passenger side storage pocket, which ended up getting stuck to a drink my sister placed there. Absolutely disgusting. Returning the car was fast, but equally frustrating. At pickup, a staff member did a quick video walkthrough to document pre-existing scratches and assured us we wouldn't be responsible. Because it was dark, I was skeptical of her video quality and thankfully took a ton of my own photos. Sure enough, at return, a different staff member asked us about those exact scratches and demanded proof that we didn't cause it. When I brought up the employee video, it was completely ignored. If I hadn't taken my own photos, we would have been wrongfully charged. All in all, a terrible experience. I have no idea how this place has high ratings on Expedia (8.1 out of 10, where I rented through) and Google Reviews (4.6 stars). Save yourself the stress and rent elsewhere.
