Last time (2016) I was in Montreal, I did a lot of research about renting a car. It was my first…read moretime doing so in Canada, so I had to really dig under the hood (pun intended) to make sure I had all the right documents and I knew the rules. I shopped around, and ended up at this Enterprise location. On this trip (2018) I had a strong inclination to just come back to this same location because the first time had been so smooth. I did, however, want to find something a little closer to downtown because this location is so far out of the way. Where my '16 trip was more flexible car-wise (I ended up with a minivan) I definitely needed a pickup truck for a camping trip. That same pickup truck was $400 more expensive at all Enterprise locations in town. That pricing blows my mind. It was $250 for a week up here in Saint Leonard, but $650 near downtown. It was an obvious choice--I reserved the truck here. While we're talking about price, I also thought it was funny that I had originally looked into getting the truck for a full week and it was $250. I decided to pick it up after staying downtown for a few days, rather than try to park it before I actually needed it for a camping trip. So I shaved off two days from the reservation. The new price was $245. I don't understand rental car pricing. At all. So, yes, the location is far away and I spent a few extra bucks taking a car service up here. But the fellas have always been so accommodating of me. There aren't too many tourists up this far, so they made it easy (I just bring my driver's license, no sweat) and it's a really swift process to get in and out of there. The cars have both been nice. The truck, a new F-150, only had about 50km on it when I drove it as the first rental. Sweet! Shop around. If you can save big bucks by coming up here, it's totally worth it, and you'll hopefully get the same professional treatment that I've had twice now.
