The person at this branch said it was too early to request the pick up, and to call back 30 minutes beforehand. I started calling at 9 a.m. and could never get through to anyone. I would be on hold until I was disconnected for being on hold for too long. After this happened a couple times I called the national number. I was put on hold while they tried to reach the local branch, only for a new agent to come on and for me to start the process all over. The national agent couldn't get through to the office either, and said they would leave a message on their system for the local branch to call us back. As you can probably guess, they never called us back. We needed this car to leave on a day trip out of town and now, four days later, we have still not received a call back! We luckily had no faith and booked the car with another company. Had we waited, our entire day would have been ruined. As it is, we were greatly delayed! I worked in Enterprise briefly and I can tell you that reserving a car means nothing. I understand that they can get busy, but not being reachable Whatsoever, even by the national company, is absurd. I've never had a problem with Enterprise in the United States, but I've heard horror stories about how they operate in Montreal after comparing notes.

The second time, they gave me a minivan (a Kia Rondo of 2007 with 100000 km). On top of being an old car, it had the engine alert sign on (they said it was for Tyre pressure) and an alert message to change oil. These signs were permanently ACTIVE, so that I could not be notified if anything else went wrong. Also, After one day of travel we noticed a piece of plastic in the front of the car that was loose. This piece was covering the steering pipe. We went to a garage (we had to travel a lot to reach one) and they found out that the pipe was completely broken. This was a known issue and only a temporary fixing was applied by the owner: the car they gave us was seriously damaged and we lost one day of rental (and one day of vacation) to go to the garage and have it fixed. This is unacceptable for a company on the market, our safety was at risk and this is unacceptable.

I got an upgrade for a reasonable discount but the system was down so the agent said he would correct the rate after. The fuel level was also typed as in 8/8 instead of the actual 4/8 and there was quite the hold on my credit card. Both these things were noted on the carbon copy I was given so I wasn't too worried despite my previous horrible experiences. When I returned the Jeep a week later, the same agent was there, he corrected the fuel level and the upgrade rate. The whole return process took less than 10 minutes (I've spent over an hour returning a Hertz vehicle before at Salt Lake City). The process was smooth and everything promised was delivered. It's good to note that regardless of whatever circumstances, make sure the fuel level is noted correctly (hand written is fine) and if the rate is different, make sure it's noted and signed by the agent in case of disputes.

There were 3 agents working for both avis and budget customers. The line had at least 25 customers deep the whole time I was there. Over an hour to get to agent only to find that the cars were not cleaned yet and would take another 30 minutes. Horrible way to start your trip. Enterprise, Alamo and thrifty line were much shorter. This is as much a review on the accuracy of priceline as well.
