The staff were friendly & welcoming on the morning I arrived for my rental & as well as when I returned the vehicle. The have early hours & a convenient drop key box if you would like to return the vehicle before they open for business. The mini van I rented was fabulous!! The van ran smooth & was great on gas. He needs a refresher course on customer service & dealing with difficult situations. Picked up a key for a car and told them I was coming right back to get the car itself and when I returned they were gone and left me no access to the car I had the key for? When I trying to make it right and find a compromise he said "what do you want me to do?" I OBVIOUSLY WANT A REFUND FOR THE CAR I DIDN'T USE. not one courtesy call was attempted either. Enterprise/Alamo at Stewart Airport is awful. I reserved a van for a family trip when I arrived on the day they told me they had no cars. There was another person at the counter that they also stiffed. The desk agent told me he had texted me in the morning but I never got any text. He even whipped out his cell to show me but couldn't produce a message. He told me his manager instructed him that they could only provide cars to people getting off planes. I guess everyone else's travel plans weren't a priority. It took several calls just to get all my money back. This location was still showing availability for vans for the dates of my trip on Expedia while they were blowing me off at the airport. when I called enterprise they were happy to give me a reservation for a van at the 17k location but then called 5 minutes later to tell me they have no cars. They next day the manager reached out because he might be able to get me two cars for the price of one if I had multiple drivers with credit cards. Then offered me a free two day rental as if Id ever trust my plans to these guys again. I get that some cars might come back late but clearly these guys suck at managing reservations and oversell their fleet so as not to miss any opportunity but don't care if they hose you. They only offered me anything after I publicly shamed them. Terrible experience, terrible customer service. I'll look elsewhere from now on. read more

I've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars renting cars at the 17 K Newburgh New York office. They had a team of people that were absolutely wonderful. A new team took over and it went completely downhill this last round a couple years ago I spent probably around $10-$15,000 was treated like garbage instead of treated like a good client. Such a shame how poorly they went downhill and honestly, they deserve to go out of business completely. read more

I rented a car from Enterprise on 3/26/24. The experience was a total nightmare. One agent told me I had to leave a deposit of $ 200, which I wasn't aware of. Someone took me to my bank so I could get the money. I asked if I could get a bank check and was told no, only credit or debit cards. A very nice young man took me to the bank in Milton and then to my bank in Newburgh. When I got to the office a different agent told me it was $300 deposit. The first agent said he did quote me $200. Then I was told that I needed to pay the tax as well. I received a text from Enterprise stating that they tried to call me but my was full. They sent a message and a confirmation number. He said I smelled like weed the day Tina rented me the car over a month ago ? How would he even remember if I did he didn't help me !?? And if I did why would you rent me the car !!! I think he was tryna set us up the day we walked in with a 250 fee. This guy wanted to have a pissing contest over my property I had to call the police to get my stuff back . Not a bad place to rent cars. However be careful what you get because often the website lets you reserve compact cars & when you arrive they only have full size and they will try to make you pay for full size. When this happens I usually insist they honor my original reservation, even politely reminding them I could visit Hertz just down the road. I always have a good experience here for the most part. read more

I rented a car through my car insurance. Through my insurance, the car was just $2 a day. At the time of going through the options, it was offered if I wanted insurance. One of them was $11 a day and then he goes on to say, the best plan they had $40. I then asked if that was a flat fee and he said yes. So, I thought that was a good deal and went for it. I go to return the car and the amount I owed to date was $700 for the 2 weeks that I had it. I almost fell over backward! It turns out it was $40 A DAY for the insurance! When I asked at the time of signing if it was a flat fee, he apparently took it as $40 a day flat, not $40 flat, totally. This was not communicated clearly at all! I tried to fight it because if I knew that it was going to be that much, I totally wouldn't go for it. $700 is more than I pay for my car for just 6 months, why would I pay that for just two weeks? Why would ANYONE go for that? Customer service told me the best they could do is to take $100 off. Out of $700!? I even told them I would go halfway with them. Nope. Customer service told me that they would discuss it with the supervisor and get back to me. Well, they never got back to me and just charged my card $500. That is poor customer service in my opinion. read more

Many of the posted reviews are for other locations!!** Rented a car from the Newburgh 17K location through my insurance company while my car was in the shop being repaired. Had it almost three weeks. When I called to make arrangements I told them I needed a small SUV, similar in size to my MAZDA CX5. They were very accommodating. Picked up a very nice 2018 Nissan Rogue, fully equipped. Very nice vehicle which ran beautifully. They told me at pick up it would be $4 more per day above what my insurance company was paying. When I returned vehicle Dwayne was extremely friendly and pleasant. When he said it was $5 a day more and I told him I had been quoted $4 he immediately agreed to that price. He was very patient explaining why they couldn't cash me out then (Allstate had only taken care of payment through the 24th so they needed the additional days authorized) & told me what would happen. All very pleasant, particularly given that I arrived to turn car in 15 minutes before they closed. I would absolutely rent from this location again if necessary to rent a vehicle! read more

Let me just start with how excellent the customer service was that I received at Enterprise Truck Rental. I felt like a huge bother because I called probably 10x asking numerous questions and every time, Joel, was extremely courteous and friendly and made sure to assure me I wasn't being annoying. I was nervous to rent a truck because I was towing an enclosed trailer with it and didn't want to use someone else's vehicle to pull a bunch of my things of value because I have heard some horror stories about rentals. Well, my rental couldn't have gone better. Not only did it only have 4,000 miles on it but it was spotless inside and smelled clean. I have no complaints and the price made it even better. I really don't take time to leave reviews unless it's outstanding. I also almost didn't rent from here because of the reviews I saw, it frightened me. But then I remember how some people are incredible dramatic and think the whole world needs to be handed to them at all times. (usually the same people that leave a car filthy dirty, and treat customer reps poorly). So already knowing that most people who come to yelp to complain about their "experiences", when they really want to complain about the rest of their life (but can't, or are so far removed from reality that they are not aware of this simple thing)... I decided to give them a chance anyway (and they are the only location near me opened on a Sunday morning). The entire team was more than delightful, super fast, kind, respectful, and straightforward. They work super hard, and deserve to be noticed! Do not under any circumstance use Enterprise in the SWF airport. In fact, I'd go so far as to say ever at any location. This has been my worst experience of customer service I have ever encountered. Nov 11th I arrived in with my boyfriend to pick up our rental car that had been booked two weeks in advance. Manager Ryan Ciraolo accused me of being on a 'do not rent to' list for damage done to one of their vehicles and money owed, and refused to rent to myself or my boyfriend. Despite telling me that the license that was pulling up was for a man in Texas, and I at no point in my life have lived in Texas, and I am female. I also do not reside in the US, have never been in a car accident, nor ever rented a car. This accusation was public in the line of rental desks inside SWF, and a defamation of my character as a renter. I spent several hours of my holiday on the following Monday trying to contact Enterprise with no result until finally a lovely CS Rep was able to tell me that there was in fact no damage report of the number I was given, nor could she find any on record for any time period, and I would have to call back the SWF desk. When I did Mr. Ciraolo pretended not to remember who I was despite it having been only 3 days. I also contacted my DMV to ensure my license is not associated with an accident. No where in the US at any point has it. I then obtained his manager and regional managers information to place a formal complaint on Nov 23rd and have still yet to hear a word from anyone. Over all I have contacted no less than 10 members of Enterprise and no one has spoken to me at any point regarding this matter as to why this happened. Do not rent with Enterprise if you want to be treated with any semblance of respect. read more

May 18 Still waiting for Alamo/Enterprise to call me in regard to billing mistakes. I rented at Stewart Airport May 7 - May 10. I asked when I picked up the car and again when I returned the car, can I use a credit card to rent the car but then use a debit card to pay when I returned? I wanted to do this because I did not want $400 extra tied up in my account for a deposit. The same agent rented the car to me and also processed the return. She told me both times, no problem with changing cards. But she could not do it and could not get help from anyone on the phone. Turns out she did not know how to make this transaction. But yet she was the same agent that said yes I could do this, twice. I had a flight to catch so I had to leave the desk and called customer service as soon as I landed. Customer service explained they could not address any billing issues but I would get a call. I also emailed. I received 2 responses to my email that I would get a call. It is now May 18. I have not received any calls. Now the charge is sitting on a corporate card and needs to be changed from that card. This the second time Enterprise/Alamo has done this to me. I rented from Alamo because of my last poor experience with Enterprise. I did not know I was still dealing with Enterprise until I got my receipt, which they could not print when I returned the car and did NOT get through email until I called in again to ask for a second time for a receipt. My last experience with Enterprise took no less than 4 months to resolve. I am still waiting to hear from Enterprise/Alamo. May 20 Mr. McNamara, I understand how frustrating it can be to wait to hear back however I assure you our management teams do their best to review and contact customers as quickly as possible. Customer service is hit or miss, hence, the two starts. If I was rating my last experience, I would only have given 1 star. Prior to my last experience, service was OK. This past weekend, I had a confirmed reservation to pick up a rental at 6pm. Due to a train delay, I was running a few minutes behind so I called as a courtesy to say that I would be there at 6:05 to pick up the car. I was greeted with a cold, "Ok, if we are still here." This is not my definition of customer service. While I understand that your establishment closes at 6pm, why on earth would you approve a reservation for 6pm? Makes no logical sense given the fact that if I showed up at 5:59 paperwork would still need to be done and employees would have to be there past 6. My advice, if you actually close/lock the doors/turn off the lights at 6pm, make your last confirmed reservation at 5:30. I will be looking for another location. read more

Dec 2020. Hotwire is listing Alamo at SWF for car rentals. I booked on hotwire one month in advance for a 1-way rental from NY to Fla. I get to SWF to find out they are only open when they have a reservation from an arriving flight. UGH! There is no one there and when you call Alamo 800 #, they say, oh yes, sure they are open, have airport security page them as they must be just away from the desk momentarily. Clueless. I call the number listed on the notice pasted at the desk. They tell me to get to the Enterprise location 5 miles away, they will honor the reservation. I wait 30mins and pay $12 for a cab to Enterprise at 63 Route 17K in Newburgh, only to be told they will honor the reservation, but not the price. Two very unfriendly, very unhelpful men could not have cared less about my predicament. UGH!! I call Alamo 800# again and they are sorry but since covid has effectively closed the airport, they are not offering what they call local rentals to anyone not arriving via plane. When I tell her hotwire/priceline/kayak are still offering rentals at SWF, she says she is sorry, but cannot control what they do. I learned my lesson NEVER RENT from ALAMO or ENTERPRISE. read more

Only gave this 1 star because of my initial interaction on July 8, 2019 with the staff at Enterprise on Route 17K in the Town of Newburgh, NY (if I could give a negative star I would). The young lady that picked me up was an intern that drove very well and was extremely pleasant to deal with. Rob was the person that checked me in and got me into the car I was renting because mine was in the shop due to an accident that i was deemed not at fault for. Tyler, the manager, was busy being cussed out by an older man who was visibly upset because of a fault on the man's part. I was NEVER informed about a $250 deposit over the phone when I initially spoke with Enterprise. They hit me with that AFTER they took my information at the front desk of the office. After telling them there is absolutely no way that I can get that kind of money for them to 'hold', they agreed to $50 that I still had to borrow from my parents otherwise I couldn't take the car (which I needed to get back and forth to appointments, school for myself and summer program for my oldest). That was the last interaction I had with ANYONE in ANY way from Enterprise until Monday, July 29, 2019 when they called to tell me that they attempted to charge my card and it was declined. I was then informed (for the first time and 3 days after the fact) that the insurance company that was paying for the rental had set a 'hard end date' (their words not mine) of July 26, 2019 and I needed to pay because I didnt return the car. Well then I asked 'How am I supposed to return it when I have NO KNOWLEDGE that it HAD to be returned on Friday?'. To which the employee put me on hold because that question was apparently too hard to answer and Tyler, the manager, got on the phone and was as smug as smug could be, talking to me like I was an idiot not worthy of any respect whatsoever. I, myself, called the paying insurance company to inform them that my car was not out of the shop yet and they needed to extend the agreement until Thursday August 1, 2019. I then called Enterprise back to inform Tyler to check his updated records from the insurance company and he seemed annoyed that he couldn't get money out of my pocket. I will be so kind as to inform the paying insurance company as to the EXACT point of return and a receipt so they can end payment on my behalf. In the future, because I'm not confident in other people's driving abilities, if I require a rental i will NOT deal with Enterprise. read more

When we picked up our rental it was after an accident, the insurance said they would cover a certain amount. The rental they gave us was over that amount but never specified how much, then they never explained the extra rental car sales tax and that it would have to be paid out of pocket. They also explained about how they have two insurance policies one costing $15 and one for $30 a day. Never stating this was optional we went for the $15 a day. After speaking with some family who have rented before we realized the extra insurance was optional. I ended up paying $500 out of pocket because of these charges they never thoroughly explained. I have never rented a car before so I guess shame on me but you will never fool me again!! read more
