We were on vacation when my husband unexpectedly had to leave a few days early for work. His plan was to rent a car and drive home, but after searching everywhere, we couldn't find a rental car available. He even looked into renting a U-Haul as a last resort! I was eventually able to secure a rental car reservation, but it wasn't ideal. The reservation had to be for three extra days that we didn't need, and the car was scheduled to be returned in Petoskey, which is nowhere near our home down state. When I arrived to pick up the car and explained the situation to Luke, he immediately went above and beyond to help. He upgraded us to a vehicle that better meet our needs, gave us permission to return the car at a location near our home, and let us know we could return it early and have the extra days prorated. Most importantly, he was genuinely compassionate, understanding, and kind during what had become a very stressful situation. It's rare to find customer service like this these days. Luke turned a frustrating travel headache into an easy and manageable experience. We are incredibly grateful for his help and would highly recommend this location because of employees like him. Luke was great. I had a terrible experience renting from the Traverse City Cherry capital airport Enterprise location. They gave me a dirty car that smelled like pot, hard a burn in the floor board but not mats and was dirty. The line and wait to get a vehicle was so long I didn't want to mess with going back in the complain and exchange it. My husband was freakier out by the Oder and insisted I exchange it in Petosky. It was no trouble dealing with Luke and he concurred the smell was bad, not only due to the pot smell but magnified by the cleaning solution they used. I went and got gas and when I returned Luke greeted me at the door, escorted me to the new Jeep, showed me to Jerp and sent me on my way! I Definitely recommend the Enterprise in Petosky. read more

It's frustrating to walk in and be told by one employee that the type of car I booked online is unavailable, only to have another employee correct them (tho it was a smaller vehicle than I originally booked). The first employee didn't even think or offer to double check. If that's the case, they either need to update their inventory more regularly or call renters to give them a heads up that the vehicle the website CONFIRMED is reserved is unavailable. Additionally, last year, I was able to rent with a debit card; but not this year. Another disappointing surprise from this location, apparently based on new management, tho I've rented from other locations, at airports or stand alone, with no issues. So I came back with a friend who had a credit card and that still didn't work cuz the first employee ran it thru twice in the same machine and didn't work until a third employee helped her to ring it thru a different machine but it was too late at that point cuz my friend's bank flagged the transaction as fraud. read more

This location, specifically Ben, rescued us from a really bad experience with an 800# version of Enterprise. Long-story short: Ben did in 7 minutes what 7 calls and 6 reps couldn't do in 45 plus minutes the prior evening. Yeah, I know. It SHOULDN'T be that difficult or time-consuming (or cause for one to pull their hair out in clumps) to secure a rental car (hence: my Raleigh, NC Yelp review). And I suppose, had we had questionable credit, were sketchy, or trying to rent Airforce One, there may be some red flags. However, at the point Ben saved the day, we had rented upwards of a dozen times, over an approximate 10-week period, and in multiple states. Yet, on the prior evening we could not seem to land on anyone's line who could figure out they worked for a rental car agency, I was trying to secure a rental, and that's what my call and our relationship was based on. Did I mention 7 minutes? Yeah, badda-bing, badda-boom. Information exchanged, details worked out, car rented, and an introduction to the actual office and representative from whom we would be getting the car (Charlevoix, MI) was made. Bonus: Hearing the details of the previous days' trials and tribulations from trying to rent, Ben proactively provided an after-hours mobile number "just in case." Did I mention 7 minutes? Yeah: 7 minutes = Ben patiently listened to my previous days +%$#@ experience with other reps, offered sincere empathy for the *&$+#@ experience, set-up our rental, provided preventative mobile contact info, AND wanted to know if there was anything else he could help me with. -- And I failed to appropriately answer: Yes! Clone yourself and secure employment with my cell phone provider, doctors' offices, and all the other places I patronize. :) The level of service provided via Petoskey (and Charlevoix, an extension of this rental transaction), were impeccable. I recently collided with a deer so I needed a rental car for a couple of weeks while my car was repaired. These folks were efficient and easy to work with. The car was in fine shape. They picked me up at the repair shop to start the rental and dropped me of back there at the end. No complaints! read more

I had a breakdown 300 miles from home and needed a car to get back to Indiana. The folks at the Petoskey location were very sympathetic to my situation and even gave me the number of a ride service since I was beyond their usual pick up distance. Once I got to the office Cody had me all set up with a vehicle and I made it home. Later when I found out my vehicle was not able to be repaired, I called and talked to Joe at Enterprise and told him I needed to drop the rental off at a local Enterprise and he waived $150 of the $250 one way fee. I will never use anyone but Enterprise for any future car rental needs. read more

Beware of this place! Just like others in my shoes I had an online reservation only to arrive to no vehicle. I spoke with multiple employees there over the course of a couple days and they all acted like they could care less about the whole ordeal. Their actions spoke even louder as I never was able to get a vehicle even when promised one day after day. I gave up and went to Hertz and the problem was solved. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I had a confirmed reservation that I made online. But they had no car for me. They said they called. They called my old land line from a very old record they had. Online I gave them my cell number, not the old number. But I was out of luck. To make matters worse, I stood there ignored for about 15 minutes before they got to me. I asked what was I supposed to do and I was told to go to Pellston Airport to Hertz only 15 min away. Well, no way is that 15 min away and the rentals at Pellston are $90+ for a small car, but I'd reserved a car for less than $60 a day from Enterprise. 0 stars tops read more

I had a reservation confirmed and they did not honor it and could of cared less so sad for a business!!

This is the MOST incompetent and dishonest place I have ever done business with. I made a reservation yesterday and was quoted a weekly rate of $199, and I have a reservation number. Today when I went to pick up the vehicle they refused to honor the rate that I was quoted and told me it would be $371. Manager Josh Moody and " reservation specialist" Hannah claimed that the rate that I was quoted I could not pay with a personal credit card even though that is how the reservation was entered into their system. They both claimed that it would have to be direct billed to my organization and demanded a cost center number in advance to complete the reservation. Once I gave them the cost center number they still did not honor the rate, claiming that the rate had been quoted incorrectly. Maybe this would be a good time for them to pull up those recorded conversations and review the one from yesterday when I booked the reservation. How about honoring the price your reservation center quoted!! read more

I rent a car at LEAST 2-3 times a year. I've gone to many different places. Used to be a pleasant place to rent cars. Not anymore. Associates have zero idea what they are talking about. Each one has a different story on how things are done. Completely different price then what I reserved it for online. Will not be going through them again. Enterprise was great to us. They sent a driver to pick us up at the Pellston (Michigan) Airport and drive us 18 miles to the Enterprise rental office in Petoskey where we signed out the car. They also gave us a free upgrade to a Jeep Cherokee that had plenty of head room for my husband. Their rates were half of Hertz's--we had a drop charge because we turned in the car at the Quad Cities Moline airport in another state 600 miles away. But Enterprise made our trip affordable. Great as always! I usually make my reservation on line and I haven't had any problems when I pick up my car. On one occasion I got there and they told me they didn't have a car that I had specified and I thought "oh great" but she says" how would you like to have this one for same rental price?" It was a very nice upgrade to what I usually rent, so I was extremely happy! The staff are always polite and efficient and the cars are always clean and ready! read more
