My wife, who is 7 months pregnant and carrying a 2 yo rented a car from National Car Rental. When she asked for assistance with putting a car seat in, the attendant stated that she wouldn't because it was company policy to not put car seats in. So my wife asked the attendant to watch our toddler son while she climbed into a car to put a car seat in. The attendant, again, said "no", and WALKED AWAY! A kind stranger saw the interaction and stopped to help my wife. I will never rent from this car rental place, even I am left with walking to home.

(4 more arriving next day, hence needing 12 passenger van). The employee "Stephen" informed me the van was not returned that day from previous renter so they had no auto to rent me. He just stood there and shrugged his shoulders. I had 6 people and no way to get to our house rental as it's an hour drive to the island. He said I can come back tomorrow to see if the van is there?!??? I said I am not driving and hour one way to fix their mistake on my vacation. Long story short....we rented 2 cars..thank god my son was old enough to drive, he took us to cars and they were full of grass and sand and dirty. I said absolutely not. He said it's all he has that they haven't cleaned them yet!. He was renting me 2 DIRTY CARS. I insisted they be cleaned. All the other rental agencies there had nothing either. I was almost in tears. Stephen was such a useless employee. I had no choice then to take what he gave me. It took an hour and 45 minutes to get our cars and we were the only people in the airport. He just didn't give a damn. Needless to say we spent the week on the island following each other everywhere we went in 2 cars. Do not ever rent from this place as they just don't give a damn. And Stephen should never work in customer service. Period! UPDATE....... I just noticed on the bottom of my contract it says "this vehicle was rented to you by Kyle". I reserved the vehicle online the day prior and when I arrived it was ready for pickup. There was no line when I arrived. Very nice. In between flights helps. My son dropped me off at OAJ and there was an attendant at the counter who was very nice to provide assistance. After the typical sharing of information and multiple signatures/initials I was handed the keys and where to pick up my vehicle. She also explained the drop off procedures. She was very nice, helpful, and efficient. Returning the vehicle was a breeze. Just find a parking spot in the designated rental return area for your specific agency and return the keys inside to the counter or drop box next to baggage claim. I have never had a bad rental car experience at OAJ. The location is perfect for me. It's not far from the house. A lot closer than going into Jacksonville. We've rented vehicles from this location for many years. We'll continue to use this rental agency and location. Recommend!

After we landed at 11pm and went to the counter no one was there, tried for an hour to contact someone with no luck. We were given a number by customer support and were told it would allow us to talk to someone from the airport but no one answered. So we were left without a car in the middle of nowhere. Luckily Hertz was open and had a large vehicle like we were needing but it ended up choosing us twice as much but we had no choice. Never in a million years would I ever expect a place to decline the most basic form of payment such as a debit card or cash.
