My king room was quite spacious, and included a recliner with a back massage feature. Very nice to enjoy after a day of work! AC worked well on a summer day. Bed was comfortable. We were unsuccessful after calling, going online, and speaking with the park attendant at the gate. Not a big fan of the east coast and the prices nature parks charge here. Living in the mid and west coast you can literally pull up and park at almost any lake with your hammock and it cost you nothing. Here on the east coast not only are you paying for ok scenery and rude attendants that look over you depending on how you look.

I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at the Danville Budget Inn (or as my GPS calls it the…read more"Budgatin". I stayed here for 9 nights while at the SCCA Runoff races at Virginia International Raceway which is an easy 25 minute drive from here. I can't speak for the other rooms but my room looked to be recently renovated. It had good lighting, the beds were very comfortable (with no "old bed" sagging) and considering it's located along a main street it wasn't overly noisy. The bathroom was a bit odd though. All the fixtures looked new and operated properly but there were no hooks to hang clothes, no towel rack, no toilet paper holder and the shower didn't have a soap/shampoo shelf or holder. It was as if they finished 95% of it and called it a day. The other worrisome thing is that the light switch was placed in close proximity to the shower where it could be activated while standing in water. I don't know if this is a code violation it certainly isn't advised. And my final issue - whatever was used to clean the toilet seat appears to be caustic. After a few days I developed a rash or "toilet-seat contact dermatitis" which cleared up 2 days after my departure. If you stay at the Budget Inn I'd recommend wiping the toilet seat with a wet washcloth before use. Otherwise, as noted I would recommend staying here and plan to do so when next in the area.

Rooms were average but they were doing renovations to upgrade- this did not affect our stay at all. Riverwalk is right behind the hotel. Cons- they advertise FREE bike rentals. When we inquired at the desk we were told to check the hallway. The only had 2 bikes to use. One children's bike and one adult bike. (Other people did not have them out) Lucky they have Zagster near by and we were able to RENT bikes for our ride.
