Multiple calls from some lady that leaves messages to call back a phone number different than what she called from and can't understand that number as she talks way too fast. Had to listen to it 8 times to get it written down (annoying). Being concerned they would cancel the reservation, I tried calling the number to see what's up, but they close at 5:30pm est... no way to get ahold of them after that at all and I am on the west coast (extra annoying). I finally got a hold of her, frustrating communication, and all they wanted was to tell me to bring my documents. Duh. Whatever. Thanks for stressing me.out for no reason when im trying to get ready for a long trip. When we got into town to pick up the car... equally frustrating conversation. There was no one else around (customer or other employees), but she was in such a rush that it seemed like she was hopped up on energy drinks or Adderall. Very strange. She rushed us through the sign-in, saying our card would not be charged until the end and that not to worry about all the charges for things that "would be taken off at the end." Okay...why? She left no room.for conversation or understanding. So, we get in car, go an hour, and I see the email receipt come through that my husband signed. It is not the same confirmation number I received from enterprise or costco (who I made the reservation through) ...and it is over $200 more than I reserved the car for. It's 5:45pm est...try to call and can't get ahold of anyone again. On top of this communication frustration, the car radio dims off every 20 minutes to have a big flashing warning of telling the driver to take a break and get coffee?!? What?!? We have 2 small adults and 4 bags...they hardly fit in this "small suv"... what a joke. This car and the rental agency... poor experience. We will be looking to return it to the nearest enterprise and get another car from a different company in the morning. So, to be fair (which I think is important) - they did attempt to call me while I was teaching - and I did not answer. You see, the insurance claim I had been tracking each evening was finishing up. The insurance stopped paying for the rental car as of 2/13 - and I did not catch that until the next day. Then I saw an email - this is good for busy people who don't have time to constantly listen to random voicemails. **Newsflash for corporate (everyone knows this!): if you are not on my list of calls I will drop anything to answer, you are not saved in my phone - so, text and email = good, voicemails = bad ** The email I responded to the next day (2/14) after 5 pm (they close at 5) (after school activities keep me late quite frequently) stated that my insurance was no longer paying for the rental. Okay, no problem. It was after hours, so I responded, "Oh, so sorry, I did not realize - I will call you tomorrow." They towed the car from my driveway that afternoon, 2/14 - Happy Valentine's Day. Advice for consumers - keep a close watch on the money flow if you are trying to track a claim while going to work every day - and don't blink. Or, boom, gotcha! read more

They have another car but they could not give it to me at the same price. However, she didn't even try to work with me. She just said I can give it to you for the same price. Having a reservation does not mean they will have any available cars. They allow reservations regardless of inventory and will call you within 24 hours of your reservation to let you know they don't have any inventory. read more

We have family in the area so I had driven by here many times, though we live 1000 miles sway. We had an unexpected death in the family, needed a rental and had made a reservation at Hertz just south of here. Well, no one arrived at hertz to work that day and no one answered their phones. So we came here in a panic. Joe was so helpful and although they didn't have a large selection last minute, they were able to accommodate us. This is hard for me to rate. I want to give a better rating for the gentleman who took care of me, but the young lady behind the counter may have been the most rude and ignorant person I have ever not had the pleasure of dealing with. I had dealt with her a few months ago and thought maybe it was a bad day then, but my visit today confirmed that she was just not good at dealing with the public. The young man who took over the transaction was wonderful. Very courteous and knowledgeable. I would give him 5 stars but had to go 2 stars because of his fellow worker. I use this location quite a bit and am always impressed with the courteous staff and great rates I get. They don't try to pressure you for add-ons, and always have what I need (sometimes even throwing in upgrades at a drastically reduced rate) I recommend always putting in a reservation in advance if you plan on renting a car here, as this prime beach location often sells out of vehicles. I recently had an incident in which my rental car was hit in a parking lot (damaging both passenger-side doors pretty good). Since I had the added damage waiver, there was nothing even required of me except a statement as to how it happened. Saved me 1000 dollars at least (the deductible on my personal insurance), as well as any insurance premium increases! Highly recommended! read more

I would love to give them 5 stars but feel that their willingness to give courteous service varies too much dependent on who is staffing that day. We needed to renew a monthly lease and got to the St Pete Beach location at 205pm. Although they just closed staff was there and came to the door. Rather than say "we are closed" They said wait here,what's your last name" We are seniors and it was 82 degrees out and we were in the hot sun. I asked if we could wait inside and the staff said "no". We waited several minutes and then he came back and said "our computers are shut down". We accepted that we were 5 minutes late and would have been ok with coming back but can not accept that it is ok to be asked to stand out in the sun on pretence that he was going to help us. read more

Update- The regional manager contacted me and has subsequently dropped the claim and offered us a free rental. Regardless the exp. is listed below with this branch. Overview- They called me and my wife liar's despite us having photo evidence proving the damage existed before we picked the car up. Upon our arrival there was no car and my wife had to wait until 2pm after arriving at 8:30am in the morning to pick up the vehicle that was supposed to been arranged. (October 9th) She returned at 1:47pm to pickup the vehicle. She was checked out by Lori the manger who checked the vehicle out. My wife pointed out damage on the vehicle and Lori indicated it was negligible and did not need to be noted. My wife took photos of the minor "negligible" damage on her iPhone. The vehicle also had sticky syrup all around the center console of the vehicle. When we returned the vehicle to Alexus Nguyen(Enterprise) (October 18th). She told my wife to stay in the office while she inspected the vehicle. She returned to the desk and after reading my wife's files indicated you did not get "our auto insurance." She then proceeded to threaten my wife that they are going to collect a total of $500 in deductible up to $1,000 for the damages. I saw these damages right after my wife picked the vehicle up on the 9th and these were same ones she took photos of. My wife was shocked by this and asked to see the damage. Alexus your agent got down on her knees and pointed the damage out, which was obvious road rash, which was noted at pick up. The agent then said there was damage on the front as well. My wife went to take a video of this. This required her having to lay down in $250 dress on the ground to a video tape it, while she was under the car a male agent proceeded to turn the vehicle on and making the vehicle jolt towards her . We have video evidence of the vehcile being turned on and my wife having to rollout from underneath the front. This is beyond me why they would turn the care on or would even be in the driver seat of vehicle nor why my wife had to get down and lay on the ground to take video of damage that was obvious road rash, unless your agent was uncomfortable about what she is claiming as damage. My wife returned to the office with Alexus who indicated she would have to check with her manager who surprisingly is the same person who checked the vehicle out. Alexus indicated that no later than 6PM she would call and notify my wife what was to happen. My wife called at 6PM sharp and no answer from the office just a message for her to call during regular business hours. The following day October 19th I arrived at 7:30 and spoke with Alexus she indicated that she had already sent the vehicle to a body shop. Obviously she had the time to send the vehicle to the body shop but not call my wife. I was also able to speak with Lori the manager, the individual who checked the vehicle in from the other client and checked it out to my wife. She explained to me the process in which they take to inspect a vehicle and that they have vehicles cleaned. She indicated the car was checked in at 10:47 and checked out at 1:47. The vehicle never moved per her statement. I would imagine if the vehicle was to be cleaned it would need to be moved potentially behind the building where they have a hose. I have seen vehicles being hosed down there as I live around the corner. I asked Lori who checked the vehicle in and she indicated it was her and she was "100%" sure that she could not have missed the damage. I indicated I wanted to give her and her branch the benefit of the doubt. I then proceeded to explain to her I saw the damage post my wife picking the car up and that we had photographed the damage. She seemed to have a shocked face post this statement. Enterprise's response they filed a claim with my insurance never called me or my wife. I now sit here writing this review with photos and video of the whole incident. Simply do not use this branch. I have also heard similar stories of there St Petersburg office. read more

When I got to the rental office the manager was telling some people that he had numerous cars where he allowed them to extend past their time frame. When I was next on line I was told there was no cars available. I was also told he tried to call me ahead of time. There is no number on my phone from this office that was made to me. The best he said he could do is possibly get with me later in the afternoon for a car. So he is okay with me leaving my kids stranded at an airport in Orlando. The pretty simple fact is if you have X amount of people wanting cars you should have X amount of cars returned. Very very bad management. After poor a poor experience at a different Enterprise location Austin at the St Pete Beach location has restored my faith in Enterprise. The guys there at this location hustled to get everyone checked in and out as quickly as possible and were polite and friendly while doing so. Before my pick up date they called to let me know the hours for thier location had changed and that I needed to pick the car up earlier. When I got there the size I requested was not available and Austin provided 3 different options to choose from. Later that day he sent me a text message thanking me for my understanding and being patient that morning and to let him k ow if I needed anything else. This is great customer service and completely opposite of the treatment I had received at a different location. When i returned the car a day early I had just missed the hours they where opened and when I returned the next morning with the keys Austin had already inspected the car which made the return process even quicker. Secured a 2 week reservation online. This included a confirmation code & a phone call from the location confirming my rental requirements. When I got to the rental location I was greeted & we completed the paperwork. The agent left to bring the car around as it was pouring rain outside. To my utter surprise he pulled up in a large truck. I reminded him that I reserved a mid sized car but I was told there was "no other cars available". Not the response I needed after traveling for 12 hours. The best he said he could do is get in a car the following day & I should "stop back by the location to trade it out". So he is okay with me spending MY time fixing THEIR lack of business planning. The pretty simple fact is if you have a confirmed reservation you should have it available . I returned the truck the next day & picked up a rental from ANOTHER company with no problems. I have rented from this location many times in the past with no problems. I will say the manager I spoke with when I returned the truck was very apologetic and waved the rental charge BUT nothing will compensate me for my time & inconvenience. not pleased at all! read more

Something is fishy on St. Pete Beach! I returned a van today and now my insurance company & I are being charged for preexisting damage. When I rented this van, apparently I neglected to notice a dent at the roof-line on the back. Upon returning it, Jor-Dan came out to do the check-in inspection. Her eyes went immediately to the roof of the van and insisted I must have dented it. I never noticed that in the entire 10 days I had it... what was odd was IT HAD TOUCH UP PAINT ON IT! I'm at a loss of just how she picked that unnoticeable defect out immediately at first glance without having prior knowledge of it. I did not cause any damage to their vehicle that I am aware of, I really enjoyed driving the van and took care and precaution to protect it. So much for my efforts! I strongly suspect they are playing games with their clients. I think that when the staff either misses something on a previous check-in or damages a vehicle on the lot themselves, they are passing the repair costs on to the next unsuspecting renter and their insurance&credit card companies. What a sweet little scam, they get other people to pay for their mistakes! When I did the walk around, the salesman stayed off to the side and did not assist, chatting away as if to distract me. He handed me a card with a circle on it and said look for anything larger than a golf ball. Being unfamiliar with the vehicle, I didn't think or even expect to have to look at the roof of a van - I would need a ladder! Any unsuspecting client who comes in can be railroaded into paying for prior damage just because he didn't happen to catch it in the glaring morning sunlight with a chatty sales guy causing a distraction during a very important part of the rental process. Why don't they actively help customers inspect? Is this what Enterprise encourages their staff to do-stay to the side hoping you will miss something? I am just sick over this. Any of you who are reading this could have this same problem! I feel the representative of the company should be an active participant during inspection. The fact that they are not seems suspicious- as if they are banking on you missing something. In my opinion, this borders on insurance fraud. I wonder how many claims they file for the same dent? How many people pay for the same touched-up prior damage? A fair question, if you ask me. Sadly, there is no way for us, the consumer, to know. The corporate office may not be aware of what is going on out at the St. Pete Beach store, but it seems the local management and employees have a nice strategy for covering their losses and mistakes: keep em distracted and hope they miss it--when they return it, pin it on them (!) and we are off the hook! Its shocking and appalling that such a reputable company allows this type of behavior from their staff at any location. It is an issue Enterprise Corporate needs to investigate. I will never rent from this location again. Or Enterprise, for that matter. An otherwise very enjoyable vacation, ruined. The good time I had is now replaced with headache and additional expense. Prospective clients, do yourselves a favor, make a thorough review of the vehicle , BE SERIOUS AND TAKE YOUR TIME. Take photos, video, whatever, even if they TELL you its nothing to worry about, as another review I read pointed out. And check places you wouldn't normally look. Go piece by piece, thoroughly. Do not let them rush you. Rather, insist the rep guides you. In spite of the friendly smiles and textbook salesmanship techniques, you have to assume they are hiding something; it is your job to find it. Those cheery smiles can disappear quickly on the return. They are replaced with a smug, matter-of-fact attitude along with a hefty charge for your deductible to your credit card. These folks are sharks and YOU (and your insurance co) are their bait! read more

I've rented cars here for the past few years and have never had a problem. Always courteous and friendly staff. Occasionally they use a little hard sell on their insurance rip offs, but that is to be expected. Biggest advantage is that they go to Ft. Desoto to pick me up. read more
