Review Title: A Tale of Two Enterprise Locations - One Redeems, One Regrets There's a saying in customer service: People will forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel. My recent experience with Enterprise Rent-A-Car is a textbook example of both ends of that emotional spectrum, one frustratingly dismissive, the other refreshingly exceptional. Let's begin in Ventura. Tuesday, July 15, 2025. I arrived at 9:30 AM sharp on time for my scheduled rental at the Enterprise location on S. Victoria Ave in Ventura, CA. As a professional truck driver trying to make my way back home after a long haul, timeliness wasn't just a preference it was essential. Upon arrival, I was quickly checked in by a young woman, but there were no vehicles on site. I politely asked when a vehicle might be available, and she simply repeated, "a few minutes." Those minutes turned into nearly an hour. Around 10:30 AM, a vehicle was finally returned but not ready. I watched as the employee took it to get gassed, "cleaned" it quickly, and then handed it off to me. The delay not only set me back but added to the fatigue and frustration of someone who was already running on fumes. What added salt to the wound? During my wait, I noticed an SUV on the lot and asked if I could just take that one instead. Her response: only if I paid extra for the upgrade. No flexibility, no consideration. Just an upsell. Tired and unimpressed, I declined. Fast forward to the drop-off at Salinas South. This is where the story and my perspective completely shifted. At 280 Mortensen Ave in Salinas, CA, I was greeted by a manager named Dainya, whose professionalism and warmth immediately stood out. As we approached the car, I overheard her colleague say they could offer a customer a free upgrade due to limited availability. Surprised, I asked Dainya if this was common practice. Her reply? "Absolutely." No hesitation. No upcharge. Just good service. When I shared my Ventura experience, her response wasn't defensive. She didn't deflect. She empathized. And then despite not being responsible for my negative experience she went out of her way to make it right. She applied a small discount to my rental as a gesture of goodwill. That small act meant a lot. It wasn't about the money it was about being seen and valued as a customer. Here's the truth: Salinas South embodies what customer service should look like. Ventura, unfortunately, missed the mark. And if Enterprise is indeed a single unified corporation, as Dainya confirmed, then consistency should be a standard not a gamble. To Enterprise management: Promote leaders like Dainya. Let her train others. Make her the face of your company culture. Her empathy, authority, and care turned a sour experience into one that renewed my loyalty. And as a returning customer for years, that matters. But I strongly encourage leadership to address the Ventura location's approach. Rigid policies, poor communication, and lack of situational awareness will cost you customers. One location redeemed your brand. The other nearly lost me. Respectfully, A seasoned traveler, loyal customer, and someone who knows the value of service done right. read more

Everything went well I ran into some problems with my debit card and couldn't pay for the rental. I got hit twice by an elderly man and his insurance paid for the rental but then totaled my car. My debit card had some fraudulent charges on it and it was canceled. So I thought my bank ordered me a new one but it didn't happen. After 8 days I called customer service and they told me I have to go back to the bank and reorder the card. So they expedited the card and waived the charge of 25$ per my request. Enterprise rental car was so understanding they let me use someone else's card. read more

DO NOT rent anything here. They claimed we damaged a car, and opened a claim to my insurance. After realizing this I called the manager multiple times, and even after confirming that she would send me pictures of the damages she never did. No inspections, no invoices for the so called repairs, a whole lot of nothing and no communication. I strongly suggest renting somewhere else, stay away from Enterprise for your own sanity read more

I'm rating this company based on the last 4 years or so we have come here . Mostly, it was Brie and Sam, who were managers before, although they had moved on. Their service was consistently excellent. They made sure they were able to fulfill the type of car we reserved. Always courteous and helpful... they always had the goal to resolve any issues. Car was filthy, customer service lost my reservation that my insurance made and the. All of a sudden found it. They didn't have much to choose from with vehicles and acted like it was my problem. I have had to rent a care a few times through my insurance and its been with enterprise. I find that they deliver what you ask for. The one I've always dealt with is the one on Salinas airport . They are very friendly and I noticed if one worker needs help there is always another employee ready to help and I've seen this many times . Whether you are a manager or and employee wherever you work . If the whole team can work together and get their hands dirty . No mater what company it's is you get more respect from each other's and customers see that as I find it admirable to help each other out when needed!! read more

Rented a car from the Monterey airport. Not only was the car not cleaned it had a huge cigarette burn in the passenger seat ! We will take our business elsewhere. I also tripped on the steps and fell on their property . They stated it was my fault and take no responsibility! read more

​We rented a VW Passat to take the family on a trip to LA. We went in last minute and no reservation but Jared Rembao took care of us quick. He found us something quick and it ran perfectly. Family had a blast in Disneyland we returned the car and Daniel Rincon helped us. Both of them provided excellent customer service. Focused on ensuring my family was taken care of quickly and efficiently. I will definitely be back for all future rentals and will definitely ask for Jared or Daniel when I'm there!! I rented a car two weeks in a row. First week no problem but the second week was a headache. Second time I went in I had miss placed my new driver license so I took my old one and my passport but they couldn't help me due to not having my current one on hand although I was there a week earlier. The lady said she did have it on file but needed it to see it again. Makes no sense to me but once again their corporate policies. Went to DMV for a print out and wow no problem. They just saw the paper and that was it. Same thing she could of done looking at my old one or the one they hand on file. read more

Here are the crazy and unprofessional treatment that I received at Enterprise locations all up and down the state of California: Monterey - They were out of cars so could not swap. They told me I could take the car to a repair shop to get it fixed. Wait, they want ME to take THEIR car to be fixed? Three hours of waiting at the shop the car was still not fixed and not only that the shop was told that Enterprise denied the repair because it was too expensive. WTF? So I drive back to their office and was told that all the local offices were also out of cars. Basically they told me I was on my own. Since I was hundreds of miles from home what could I do? Torrance - This is the branch I rented the car from. The rep there listened and told me to take it to a repair shop - Firestone. WTF? Is this Groundhog Day? So I'm supposed to go all over town to fix THEIR car? She said ok, she will call the other Enterprise offices and call me back. Never got a call back Salinas - Had cars but would not let me have a car because I needed to return the car to Torrance instead of back to their branch. Santa Barbara Airport - Would not let me have a car because they only on one car left. Enterprise 1-800 Roadside Assistance - Helped me call all up and down Hwy 101 looking for a car but they too struck out - none of the branches were willing to swap out the car. They ended the call by basically telling me I'm on my own. Torrance - After driving hundreds of miles at night with a headlight out, I returned the car to Torrance only to be told by the rep I could not go until talked to the manager. I said why it's just a headlight that went out. He said, and I quote, "how do we know how the headlight went out" WTF? Now he is insinuating that I broke the headlight? It is just a f'n burned out bulb! Bottom line, Enterprise is too worry about their bottom line to care about their customer's safety. Next time? Not if I can help it. read more

i had a rental for about 5 weeks due to a car accident. the check out and check in process was pretty quick and easy. the staff at the local location is good. however, the customer service upon needing something and getting a call back from management is a complete joke. one of the "pre-auth" charges aren't dropping off my credit card. i have been trying for over 2 weeks now to get this charged dropped off/reversed and no one from their location or their accounting team can figure out why. no one is returning phone calls, no one is returning messages and not they are keeping me on hold for 45+ minutes when I call to follow up. definitely will never use this location or this brand for a car rental ever again. worst customer service and follow i've ever experienced with a rental car company. read more

Well had my car vandalized and progressive got me a rental car during the operation of assessing my vehicle in the meantime Enterprise out there at Salinas at the airport decided to take $600 out of my account just because I guess they wanted to mess my account up playing games cuz all kinds of problems trying to charge me for 36 days when I should have been 10 kept putting money in taking money out of my account messing everything up I tried to talk to him to put me on hold for a days at a time I drive out to see Lady today and she tells me she can't do nothing she got to call corporate when she's with the money out of my account so it makes no sense to me bring it on professional never had a problem in my life with the Enterprise ever in the world except this one right here this location these people are very professional and very just rude they don't care it's just I don't know they just ignore you ignore everybody who goes out there like you're just nothing so anyways I need to get my money back and I will Bank take care of it so I would not go out and do those people out there they will rob you blind and they will charge in your car do whatever they want ignoring you hanging up and putting on hold it's just stupid s*** it's a professional you should all be fired anyway that's my review they can go go pound salt. Wow! Woke up this morning and still my car is not running. Silver lining...I get to see Alejandro and his team at Enterprise Car Rental. I'm a senior woman who has seen her share of things gone wrong with various business dealings. This Enterprise goes over and beyond regular policies to make sure I am treated with utmost respect. Pick up and drop off is done as a matter of fact and they make a day that could be stressful, to say the least, to a day to get things done with ease. I recommend them to the moon and back and thank them for all they have done and are doing for me! read more

Beware them saying "you're in luck we have a better car for you" usually means I know your insurance is covering this amount so let's try and squeeze as much out of you. My fiancé attempted to rent a truck from Enterprise, but was told they had no trucks available to rent. They scheduled a van for his rental, however, after telling him it would not be available until about 10AM on the day he needed it, when he called them to pick it up he was told he had changed the date to the next day. Which he had not. After speaking to three different people a manager came on the line and told him he could not adjust his shuttle time to pick up one person and therefore it would not be before 12 noon that day. The woman my fiancé spoke to on the phone also told him he lived too far away. She couldn't figure out the local address and kept telling him he lived in a different city other than Salinas. He normally starts work at 6 or 7 AM. Needless to say this was an major inconvenience. He was not able to pick up the van until late that evening. He had to make other arrangements to get to work that day! No apology of any kind. So much for customer service! When we finally were able to pick up the van, interestingly enough there were multipal TRUCKS in the lot for rent!!!!!! I also had a recent experience with Enterprise that was not all the pleasent as well. As for their sanitation due to COVID-19, when I went to put the seatbelt on in the vehicle I rented, there was a pair of glasses attached to the seatbelt as well as some trash under the seat!!!! So so much for sanitation. P S Their location is not the easiest or best in Salinas either!!!!!! read more

From pickup to drop off, the people running this site are just sooo polite and friendly. They welcome every customer in with a firm handshake and welcome them back by name, asking how their trip was. Terrible experience! Location was convenient so I tried it. Had an important meeting 3 hours away, when I got there (in order to use my Visa to rent the car with because it was a debit card as well?) they needed proof of my home address. My valid CDL wasn't good enough!! Started asking for a copy of my PGE or water bill? Checked my backside to see if I left one of those there but nope! Ended-up driving my own car, never again will I go there. Also told them I wanted to complain and they said they'd have a regional manager call me, two weeks later and still waiting...horrible customer service. read more

Went to return my rental car today and there was a male without a face mask, I stood there thinking if the workers there would tell him something because of the regulations here in Monterey county but nope, they didn't say a word to him he just stood there without a mask and then they asked him to stand at the door to wait WITHOUT a mask on. I came to visit from LA and my car broke down on the 46, long story short I ended up in Salinas and rented a car from this location and the staff was helpful. I did wait for about 15 minutes while they got the car ready. The car was clean inside and out. I drove the car all the way down to LA with no problems and returned it there with no issues. All the charges on my card where legit. No complains, I do not know why people complain for waiting, I bet their the same people who complain because they are waiting in line at a grocery store. read more

The employees at this place don't know what customer service is. Daisy Barron behaved like a complete idiot, she told me my insurance covered all the fees, then she calls to tell me there are extra fees i have to pay. She was not professional at all and started to argue with me on the phone. I returned the car 2 days later and the "manager" tells me i have to pay for 3 days, and twice the fee they told me first. I've always have rented from Enterprise, but this location has one of the rudest employee Miguel!! What a disrespectful person.. my son was picking up a truck and I had changed the pickup date to one day earlier.. When we got there he said no we have it for the next day! I said no I modified last night.. His comment was "Well if you have the email to prove it, then ok but I have it for tomorrow, we'll unless you want the F150 but it's more expensive!! And it was not in a professional voice, it was more on the ride side almost like he was on a power trip..I was dismissed!! When I stepped outside to look fro the email he started talking to my son, both him and my son walked out to the parking lot to look at another truck.. Again I was dismissed!! I had a rental myself and was planning on keeping it another week, but after dealing with jerk, nope!! Return'd it.. after I got in the truck my son said Miguel made it right with him but again dismissed me. I got home and called customer service , nice lady was shocked because regardless he should have charged his wording, said she would have a supervisor contact me the next day I even got a text message from said supervisor stating she would contact me the next day, even sent me a thumbs up emoji.. this was Weds to this date no call.. I'm really disappointed in Enterprise, 1 for the rude power tripping Miguel and 2 for the supervisor for not following through on her part.. I guess I'll be using another car rental service in the future, since Enterprise doesn't care.. read more

Please rent your next car from the gentlemen at Salinas Enterprise! I was a newbie to car renting. I showed up and wanted to pay with a debit card. Brandon politely informed me that I needed two forms of documentation in order to do so. Since I didn't have any documentation on me, Brandon drove me home himself to get proof of car insurance and a paystub. I was really impressed that he did that. But...when we got back to Enterprise, Brandon saw that my driver's license was expired! He very politely pointed it out, and, in frustration, I threw a little fit and cursed and said that I had left my new license in my other purse. Excuses, excuses. Well, these gentlemen treated me like a lady anyhow, and Andrew and Angel drove me home--again--so that I could get my current license. Again, I was impressed and very grateful for their help. I fully admit that I was in a bad mood while I was interacting with Brandon and Andrew, but they were nothing but professional, cheerful, and courteous to me the whole time. They gave me a Nissan Frontier for my roadtrip--a great drive! I sent them an apology email as soon as I could, and they let me christen my ride the "Starship Enterprise." Andrew and Brandon were very happy to see me when I came back from LA, and Brian gave me a free shuttle ride home. I needed to rent a car while my car was being serviced after being rear ended. I'm glad I went to this location on Abbott St. Upon my arrival I was greeted with a smile and handshake from Andrew. It was still early and he told me that there wasn't a vehicle ready at the moment. He said he would work on it and try to get me something quick. I told him I would return in a couple hours. When I returned Danny greeted me as soon as I entered the office. I didn't have to wait around and a vehicle was ready. I have to say I was very impressed with the customer service, the friendliness and the efficiency of this particular business. I also want to give kudos to Diana for her friendly attitude and smile when I returned the vehicle. They've made it easy for future decisions on where to rent a vehicle. If other places need a lesson on customer service they need to stop by this place. Thank you! read more

The one star rating is not for the staff, but for the hand controls provided by the San Jose office. The installation was incomplete - no steering knob - and therefore, useless. My husband, who requires full hand controls to drive, was unable to do any of the driving on our two week trip. The gas and brake controls interfere with use of the pedals making the vehicle unsafe for other drivers. The rods connecting the control to the pedals goes under the steering wheel, across the driver's lap, and down between the gas and brake pedals. I was unable to shift positions for comfort on our long drive without consciously avoiding the controls - one good scrape of the knee kept me thinking of it. I could not easily move my foot from one pedal to the other - a nice nick between the toes made me very careful - not something one needs to be thinking about in an emergency. I could not securely place my foot on the brake pedal because of the attachment mechanism. Over all a very bad experience with hand controls that my husband wasn't even able to use. As a company, Enterprise really needs to find and invest in better hand controls. For my take on the Salinas and Stockton staffs' efforts to accommodate us in the face of such useless controls, see my next review. - (YELP won't let me write another review so fast - I'll do it later. Know, however, that Keawe, Monique, and Alejandro in Salinas and Brice in Stockton did do their best to get us a different vehicle as quickly as possible and to make sure that we left their offices happy. This is only the second time I've rented a car, but the experience at this Salinas location just set the bar high for any future rental car experience. I have to thank Miguel specifically for the best customer service. He made the whole process, from the confirmation phone call to giving me the receipt at check out, as seamless as possible. The whole staff was very welcoming, polite, and courteous. But man, it was so awesome to witness Miguel's strong work ethic. Keep up the good work, and I'll definitely be back! :) read more

I needed to rent a car for a road trip around northern Cal and was looking for an SUV. The person who answered the phone was very helpful in making sure they would have the vehicle I wanted for me. When I walked in everything was ready to go, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I was having an overall good experience with my vehicle until it died on me. It literally stopped running while I was at a stop sign, but then quickly turned back on. This happened on the 2nd day of our 3 day trip. When I returned the car I mentioned this to person who was checking in the vehicle and he was very concerned and apologetic. He assured me he would have the car checked out and gave me an upgrade on my next rental for the inconvenience. I usually rent from Hertz, but I was extremely impressed with this enterprise branch. They were helpful, polite, friendly, and made sure I was completely satisfied with my experience. I'm a fan and will DEFINITELY be renting from here again. read more

At first glance, this was a hassle. In the end, it was a racket. I reserved a car for pickup at four and got an Uber. On my way there, I got a call telling me they had no cars and that they would call me back if something comes up. We headed to the repair shop where our car was and headed back to Enterprise around five. Still nothing. So we decide to wait. Five thirty rolls around. Several people have come in after us and gotten cars before us, but I'm sure that had something to do with the order of reservations. This car pulls up, not the car we reserved, but it was five fifty, so we went with it. Now, I'm sure the employee just wanted to get home, but that does not excuse what went down. She had us walk around the car with her, looking for damages. She told us to ignore anything smaller than a dollar coin, so we found nothing and went about with the business deal. As we were pulling out, we noticed a small star crack in the windshield, right in the driver field of view. We figured it was fine, because we were told not to worry about anything smaller than a dollar. Well, everything went smoothly. Returned the car a day early. Full tank of gas. Then the lady came in after looking at the car and told me about the chip in the window. I told her that it was there when we got the car and that she told us anything smaller than a dollar didn't matter. Cue the condescending tone. She went on about how anything on the windshield counts as damages, despite what she may have told me when I rented the car, and that we needed to pay a deductible and file a claim. Whether this was intentional and an act of pure malice, or just incompetency, it is a racket. I will not be renting from this company anymore. read more
