I had been renting from this location for many years, on average once or twice a month for work. Over a year ago I had an issue that made me rent from other locations. Wheaton Enterprise then brought back a manger that I really liked and I started renting from this location again. Until today. I rented a large SUV on Wednesday of this week received a phone call at 7 PM Friday night telling me they didn't have one and that I would have to call other Enterprises to get one. I went in anyhow to see what they had to offer and they had no large vehicles. The employee (Sean) at the desk could've been less bothered that they left me in a situation for work without a car and told me I'd have to call around on my own to find another car when they were the ones who were not able to fulfill their agreement. Honestly our experience here was off to a bad start when we were told to come in and pick up the car at 11:30am, only to come in and the car not be ready yet. We took it with a grain of salt and just went to go eat and came back. The second thing is that the car was definitely not in good condition. It was definitely damaged around the car, which is fine, but I feel like the more internal issues should be fixed before renting out a car? The third thing is I ended up dropping my wallet when grabbing everything out of the car. I tried calling around 30-40 mins before closing, and I got placed on hold until closing. This enterprise does not offer that. At the whims of their employees. Who are wildly understaffed. I was in the hospital for a serious medical condition. I rented a car while I was in the hospital. I was continuously harassed because the insurance company did not pay the claim because my insurance agent went on vacation. And her team was overwhelmed then they had the car towed with my belongings in it. Then I went to the location and they told me that I could not recover the items and that there were no Christmas gifts for my teenagers in the car which was untrue. I called corporate for a resolution, but I would never use this company again. They are dishonest and rude. read more

Reserved a pickup truck. Received a message that I would be contacted "well in advance" of my reservation to ensure the vehicle was available. I never got a notice. I checked in online, no problems. I got to the store & the clerk seemed surprised to see me. There was only one other person in the store. It took several minutes for her to pull up my rental details. Then she told me they didn't have a truck. She offered to call other locations. By now it was 1140. I waited outside for maybe 10-20 more minutes, with no word. Absolute garbage location. I reserved a car on Expedia and arrived five minutes after opening. I thought they were just slow and short-staffed, so I was trying to be patient, but an hour later, only by overhearing a staffer's phone conversation, I found out they had no available cars for me and a half-dozen other people. They never bothered to say anything. They offered no resolution except to send me to another location (I could do that on my own) and not even an apology when I cancelled. My insurance company reserved a car for me at this location and it was great because it's close to my home. Customer service, both at pickup and drop off, was great. The staff I interacted with were professional and respectful. The car was clean and tank filled (hasn't always been the case in previous rentals elsewhere). I decided to rent from this Enterprise location since it is walking distance from my apartment. It is also conveniently located walking distance from the Wheaton metro. Upon arrival, you are asked to enter into one entrance which has a small holding area. Due to COVID restrictions, they are not allowing anyone inside the main building. Upon arrival, I did enter with 3 additional people waiting. This is definitely NOT in accordance to social distancing policies. I did have on my mask but I decided to wait outside instead. I eventually was greeted by a team member who checked me in. It was then told that they did not have a car of my preference available and it would be a while before they can locate a car and have someone drive it over. I was flabbergasted. This was an inconvenience to me as my plan was to pickup the car and head to another previously scheduled appointment. After all, I made my reservation over a month in advance so we wasn't expecting a wait. My reservation was at noon and I did not get a car until 12:45pm. (This is precisely why the airport locations are the best because a car would have been ready with the keys inside.) I distress.... The car finally arrives and they clean the inside to sanitize. As they bring me the keys, guess what? It's not the type of car I reserved. It was a level lower and a much slower vehicle than I requested. They did charge me less but now this is two things that have gone wrong. Overall, the car was fine for my trip. The acceleration was much slower than I wanted but what could I do? Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with a car rental company. After several years of renting a cargo van at Enterprise's Tysons location for an annual event, which was always a good experience, I was forced by availability to rent from the Veirs Mill Rd Silver Spring location. On the day of the rental (Mon, 9/12/22), I called to confirm and was told that I could not rent the van with a debit card, as I had done for the my three previous rentals with Enterprise. No effort at all was made to accommodate me as a customer or show any concern for my needs. The restriction was sprung on me without warning, even though the rental agreement I completed clearly said that I could use a debit card. (From the Enterprise agreement: "Renters using a debit card may rent the following vehicle classes: Economy through Full Size cars, Cargo and Minivans, Pickup Trucks, and Compact, Small and Standard SUVs...". The branch manager was completely unhelpful, and when I asked her why she wasn't going by what was said in my rental agreement, was springing this restriction on me at the last minute on the day I needed the vehicle, and was basically leaving me hanging, said she had to check something, put me on hold, and just never came back. A U-Haul location much closer to me in Reston that I had also rented from before was happy to help me, and for a lower price, too! I'm a member of Enterprise's loyalty program, so I called the customer service line for the program and was assured that someone from their corporate offices would call me. When I objected, was told it was the only car they have and would take 3 or more hours to get from another location even though there were many other cars around. I would not recommend using this location. It was easy to make the reservation and pick up the vehicle. There was time spent disinfecting it, however when I got home, the rear seats (which had been down) were covered in crumbs and stains that I ended up cleaning myself. There is also a $200 deposit hold which was not communicated in writing or verbally, until it was time to pay. I agreed to the hold because the manager assured me it would not be processed and would "fall off" as a pending charge on my account. Well, it was processed. I called and asked why, and was told it was because I used a debit card. Again, this was not shared with me prior, so I was not able to make an informed decision when paying with my credit/debit card. (Note: since they won't tell you this, don't use a debit card because they WILL charge it). Both supervisors I spoke with (during pickup, and today when I called to question the $200 being actually withdrawn from my account) took the route of blaming me, and saying I should have known. They also claimed they had called me ahead to share details(which they had not). A refund has been initiated, which may take several days to hit my account. Since they won't tell you this, I am. I know times are hard and everyone needs some extra patience right now, but if you're reading this, save yourself the headaches I'm going through now and just drive a little further to use a different location. It's not worth the trouble. EDIT: I called my bank to confirm they have not seen a refund in process, so an added word of caution to anyone chooses to risk using this location: be prepared for that money to just be gone for a few days. I'm sure it will show up in my account eventually (it better) but as of right now, the "instant" refund has yet to be replaced. I'd be careful. I recently returned a car. They found a small dent and told me it would surely be inexpensive to fix. Since I didn't want them to involve my insurance company I authorized them to charge $ from my credit card. They asked for $1000 and they said they'd return the rest. They still have not returned the it after over a month and a half and they claim the repair cost them almost the entire amount. They also submitted a claim to my insurance company and they sent me a bill for the amount. The insurance folks said this is a common scam. Trying to get 3X the inflated cost! They also drove me back at the end of the week to pick up my car. The rental car I used was in great condition and drove well.
