I made a reservation on the Enterprise app to rent a car. I fly in and when I get off the plane, there's a voicemail on my phone that says there is no car available. So now I'm stuck in Sumter with no car. They know how to take the reservation, they just don't know how to hold the reservation, and holding the reservation is really the most important part. read more

## Absolutely appalling experience at Enterprise in Sumter, SC - Avoid at all costs! **Enterprise in Sumter, SC:** This isn't just a rental car location, it's a masterclass in **incompetence, negligence, and utter disregard for customer safety and satisfaction.** Buckle up, because my recent experience here was a bumpy ride from start to finish. **Safety concerns ignored:** I arrived with a mid-size SUV flagged by roadside assistance for safety issues. Cameron, the "supervisor," confirmed the problems and declared the vehicle undrivable. Instead of exchanging it as instructed by roadside, he handed me a sticky note with a **service shop address.** and told me to drive the vehicle to said address... After agreeing that said rental vehicle was not drivable. Apparently, in Cameron's world, sending a customer with confirmed safety concerns on a wild goose chase is standard operating procedure. **Zero on the ground, zero care:** Despite a full parking lot, recent rentals being turned in, and a seemingly stocked back inventory, Cameron claimed they had **"zero vehicles."** This wouldn't be so unbelievable if he hadn't spent 20 minutes magically conjuring up a **Nissan Versa (think clown car, not SUV)** I politely declined due to the amount of luggage I had, but apparently, not Cameron's problem. **A Versa-tile nightmare:** The "offered" Versa reeked like a chain-smoker's ashtray, sported cigarette burns galore, and boasted a whopping **68,000 miles.** As I pulled out, the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree on overdrive. I immediately returned to Enterprise and informed them of the service slights (shown in the photos). Cameron's solution? Keep driving. Because apparently, in his book, **service lights are just festive decorations.** **Enterprise doubles down on dumb:** I called roadside, who also inexplicably deemed the Versa "fine." But hey, at least they acknowledged the oil change was due **soon (in 6,000 miles, not 4,000 as Cameron claimed).** This, folks, is the level of automotive negligence you can expect at Enterprise Sumter. **Escape to sanity:** Finally, I found another Enterprise location hours away willing to exchange the Versa for a proper SUV (as per my original booking). Unfortunately, they would be closed by my arrive time and would be stuck in this Versa until the next morning. Enterprise in Sumter,SC is horrible! I got a Corolla by Toyota. it was absolutely fifty! Both seats were stained with who knows what! The head liner was fifty- stain- smudges and around cepiling handles was also dirt stained. The dashboard was full of finger prints and God knows what else.The car had been smoked in even through there were no smoking stickers on either side of the car screen. I am allergic to smoke and didn't realize it was smoked in till it sat in the sun and the heat brought out the smell. I will not recommend your company to anyone else. They're closed Sundays and the selection of cars is slim. Also they have very wonky hours and be mindful that even if you reserve a certain car, you more than likely will not get that car as they will have given it out to someone else. Twice now I've rented a small car as I'm short and they have given me large vans each time. It's the only enterprise in the area so you're kind of stuck. Also on the last visit, I reserved a small car and I got a van but one of the guys who works there, one of his buddy's strolled in with his lady friend from off the literal street and got a small car. I overheard their conversation and he did not have a reservation. If ever I need a rental, I will make the drive towards Columbia. read more

My vehicle was totaled Monday @ noon. I was told my insurance had booked a car @ Enterprise. When I arrived @8am Tuesday (my time Enterprise offered me on the webpage) I was told there were 'no cars available, probably not until noon'. We went home & waited. No cars available Tuesday. I was told management would contact me Ruesday. It is now Wednesday afternoon and no one can find a car for me, nor has anyone called me to offer other solutions. This has been the most amazing car rental experience I've ever had! The Enterprise representative was calling me before I even hung up with the warranty operator who had scheduled my rental reservation. Enterprise Sumter set me up for a pick up first thing the following day at a convenient time. When my husband and I arrived we walked into a fresh smelling office and were greeted by a chorus of friendly hellos. You know, sometimes one person won't even say hello or recognize that you've entered and we got greeted by multiple employees! Ken helped us out, was super polite and explained every aspect of the rental. He let me choose from the available cars and offered to call me in a week and check if my car (in the shop) is being fixed on time with the planned schedule. Ive used enterprise for years always good experience except today at The Sumpter location....I'm from Michigan visiting for 2 weeks, Made a reservation for one day to visit a friend. Got dropped off and they tell me that because I have a Michigan DL, I can't use my debit card. I have a credit card on my Apple/phone. I asked if they would manually enter it and would not. They said it's corporate policy and won't allow it. So, I called corporate they said the manager can make an exception However, Megan the manager said she would not do it unless I was flying back to Michigan??? Needless to say I sat in the parking lot for 2 hours waiting for a ride. Megan and another gentleman were very rude. A complaint has been filed against Megan at the corporate office. Was at Hertz to pickup a car I did not know they were close in Sumter That's when I met Andrew he was so funny and nice made me forget about my problems and explained to me that they may have vehicle for me help me call my ins to switch it and told me how their process works and assured me my information was confidential and safe. When I got there two young men help me the big guy slowly made sure I understand and Ken made sure the car was nice and clean and that I was satisfied with it. Customer service is good. They do not have a huge inventory to chose from. Things have definitely gotten better than before.

1st car they brought to us was full of fire ants, manager sent it away. 2nd car they brought, slap out of gas. Didnt think i was even going to make it to the gas station. We are military and use USAA insurance and had to use Enterprise due to our vehicle being placed in the body shop for repairs. I dont run around on an empty tank, so when the body shop called to tell us our car was ready, we turned the rental car back in with 3/4 of a tank. No reimbursment whatsoever. We actually lost money dealing with Enterprise. Are they so busy that they cannot stop and fill up before delivering the car to the body shop? Was that a smart decision? What if we had ran out if gas? It was 99°F that day, and i had my grandchild with us. Who has overwatch of this place? Military folks, if you expect anything else, expect disappointment. Try Hertz. Will NEVER use Enterprise again, made a reservation on Thursday 4/5/18 requested an 8:30am pickup on 4/9/18 so that once they opened at 8:30 they could come straight out to pick me up and I could get to work. Never happened, somehow it was put in their system as just a scheduled pickup w/out a time(who does that) so I literally sat at the mechanics shop for 2 hours waiting for a driver whom they had sent to Eastover, SC but I was told by Jade at 9:06am (when I called the first time to see where the driver was) that he would be there in 10-15 minutes because they had my reservation but failed to enter a p/u time. I called again at 9:45am to be told by Jade that (we're doing the best we can since we had to squeeze you in because you weren't on our p/u schedule with a scheduled time). I immediately contacted another car rental service, they were there in 10 minutes to get me and the Enterprise driver still was not there, so I contacted Enterprise to cancel my pickup and my reservation and again I was told by Vick "our driver is on the way, he had to come out of Eastover and we've been extremely busy" I ended up being 2 1/2 hours late to work because of this foolishness So this is how you treat what is suppose to be a "preferred customer" Never again will I rent from them or refer anyone to them read more

After today 4/20/2016 I will never in my life rent a car from Enterprise in Sumter SC on Wesmark Blvd. Two days ago I needed a rental car due to my car breaking down. Being that I'm a resident of Ga. I needed my mom to rent the car for me. I didn't have proof of residents here and etc. On the original day of rental it were some issues but I ended up with a car. A car that needed an oil change as soon as I left the parking lot. Enterprise associate told me it was ok since I only was adding a few miles to it. So today I went to check on my personal car. Only to find out that it's not ready. I'd called Enterprise to inform them I needed the car an extra day, but I needed another car. (Cause of oil change) I asked the female associate will it be find if I bring it in or do my mom have to bring it in. She said let me see if your list to bring the car in. She placed me on hold for a min. Then stated that was fine. The car was suppose to be returned at 1pm. I bought the car here at 12. Now I'm sitting here with Manager telling me I'm not authorized to drive the car. My reaction how am I not? He says my mom didn't put me down as a driver. I point to the other manager in there. I stated he was here. He was the one authorized my mom and I do drive the car knowing it needed a oil change. Y didn't explain then that I was suppose to be listed. He goes on to say well I'm a manager and I can't allow u to leave back out with this car. I'm like I had no clue I was suppose to be listed. Specially if that's all she had to do. Y didn't Management explained that as he took my money order out of my hand. Now I'm strand here for 2hrs because my mom is out of town. I wish to file a complaint with your department concerning the unprofessional behavior of one of your customer representatives _________. I would like to inform you of the rude, impertinent and unprofessional behavior I received at the Wesmark Blvd location in Sumter SC on Tuesday December 22, 2015 when I went in to pick up my reserved rental car. This Represenative was standing at the reception desk when I entered and she indifferently asks could I help you after I acknowledged her. I then informed her that I had a reservation for a rental to pickup and she said "I need to see your utility bills". I politely informed her that I did not bring any utility bills with me but I had called on Friday December 18th and spoke with a kind gentleman who told me that I had a reservation for today to pick a car for rental and was not aware that I needed to bring my utility bills. She then went on to inform me heartlessly that sorry we need to have a copy of your light bill, cable bill or we cannot rent you a car without it. I then had a coupon from my JC Penney account that was mailed to me with my current address and she frowned and said "No, that will not do" I then ask to see the manager and she said he is busy and it would not help you because you need to have a copy of your utility bill. I explained to her that I needed to have the car for a trip in the morning at 6am and I explained to her being that it is already 5:20 pm I would not have time to go home to get my utility bill and she was just as indifferent as if she could care less. I then demanded to see the person I spoke with named _____and she said that's the manager and he would tell you the same thing that I am. I said I would like to speak with him and one of the other representatives was up front who was not accommodating either at all told him (manager) and he came up front and I inform him that I had spoke with him and had a reservation for a rental and I was not aware that I needed to bring my utility bills and he was very kind and said oh yes I remember talking with you and told ---------- to go ahead and process the rental for me. He then went in the back to his phone call and This Cust Rep rudely ask for my driver's license and Visa card she then said I need 3 references and I gave her 3 and she then ask if I had car insurance and with who. I inform her I had car insurance with Geico. I then heard her telling the Geico representative "I have a customer here who does not have an Insurance ID card and I..." I interrupted her and said I do have my insurance ID card and she kind of smirked and said "Oh she does have her ID card and apparently the Geico representative ask to speak with me and they were so nice and ask me if I wanted them to release my information to ______and I said "Oh Sure, that will be fine". Then ________ told me the total and I said "no mam that is not the total the manager gave me over the phone, he gave me a discount" and she said I don't see it here and the other unfriendly representative looked over at her computer screen and told her to hit a key and she then gave me the total manager had quoted over the phone. I am sure you do not encourage your Customer representatives to behave in this manner, but I find it completely unacceptable and unprofessional. I was told that someone would call me when a car came in well after waiting hours and not getting a call from enterprise, I called to ask if a car was available.
