I'm going to start this by saying my (minor) complaints were dealt with professionally and far exceeded my expectations. I left very happy. Periodically I rent a car for a week and Enterprise is the closest rental agency so I go to them. Sometimes I use the one in Exton and sometimes in West Chester. I booked a "Jetta or equivalent". I was dealt with by a very professional trainee but was a bit annoyed when the keys she gathered for my selection on the lot were for cars that would cost an additional $30. Not really a big deal but in my mind I thought they should waive any additional fee for any car they offered that was "above" the level I asked for. I was shown a Nissan something or other which I took. The inspection revealed a number of dings and scrapes as well as a hole in the rear brake light housing. This was a 2018 car with more than 22000 miles so clearly it had been driven hard. But I took it. I didn't really have time to look at any other cars. There were a couple of other things that I didn't like but let's focus on the positive. When I returned the car I was greeted, after hours, by an Enterprise rep. I casually complained... I wasn't really upset. The car did what it was rented for. But I voiced my dissatisfaction... and jokingly said, "and while I'm complaining... " and went on to describe something else that annoyed me. He asked me for the key and went inside while I was unloading my stuff into my own car. When he came back out he'd reduced my bill by about $150 and said all he asked was that I give Enterprise the opportunity to make me happy the next time I rented. This is what customer service should be: service to the customer. There was no defensiveness or excuses. He made it right ... and then some. I take two stars off the perfect score because of my (again, minor) complaints and add one back for the superlative customer service. Well done! read more

Good for the initial rental, got me into a vehicle smooth and quickly. After that, the customer service stops! If you need any helpful assistance after that..... good luck. Don't get me wrong, they were polite, but no follow through, no call backs, no genuine help. 1st fail was bad wiper blades, was told I could take it to a shop (on my time). 2nd this was my fault. I left some items in the trunk. Got no call back, and items whereabouts were unknown. Call backs would have been nice, even if they lost my stuff! Again, I do understand that I was the one that left it there in the 1st place! That being said, I would still recommend, but would be more thorough in my procedures. read more

I gave two stars because at a minimum they showed up on time. The car they brought me as a rental was five months past due for state inspection. So in essence no state required safety inspection had been done on the vehicle in 17 months. I opted for additional insurance even though the car was a wreck to begin with, and they overcharged me for this with no explanation. If you have no other option and are forced to use enterprise make sure the wreck they are giving you has been inspected. Additionally, get information about billing for their insurance because what they tell you and what you are billed are two entirely different numbers. There are plenty of other rental services available locally. Always keep your safety first! Make informed decisions. read more

My bad. Yesterday, I left my garage door opener, my EZ Pass, conduction headphones and sunglasses in the car. I called Enterprise at 7:30 am today, to ask if they found them. The response was "... these are such common items, they are put in lost and found." So, I have a simple question - if you boast such great customer service, how much effort would it have taken (when the items were found) to just pick up the phone and call the person who rented the vehicle, so a speedy return could be effected? Oh! and the Toyota Corolla I rented had a "misaligned front fender" that I ended up having to Gorilla tape together. read more

I reserved a car more than a month in advance. I received a phone message day before reservation confirming a standard auto rental. When I arrived to pick up car I was charged double the deposit and given a car that was left over and old with torn carpet near the brake and gas petals. I was told that they do not have any other cars. I had a good experience in the past with this office .... the reason for returning....however this rental I am not happy and feel like they are pushing a rental they usually cannot rent onto me to accept. read more

They have an unfortunate policy that no one else in the travel industry has: I can't book a reservation for someone else using my points. I do this all the time for airline tickets and hotel reservations, but I booked a reservation using my points for my wife and they refused to let her pick up the rental. They said I could create an account for her and transfer points (that takes 7-10 days), but I resolved the issue by having her just rent a car from someone else. read more

Today I looked at my bank account and discovered that Enterprise West Chester took more money out of my account that I owed for the overnight use of a car. When I took the car back, I spoke to the rep who did the walk around and verification of fuel and mileage. He said the refund would be $XYZ dollars and I specifically corrected him that he was wrong and I gave him the correct refund sum while he had the table in his hands. Just spoke to a rep on the phone and asked her for the name of the man who logged the car back in. She wouldn't supply that. I explained the problem -- Enterprise taking more money than I owed and I gave her a specifically limited time to refund the balance. She offered a half dozen excuses for that bit of thievery, and her failure to refund what is owed timely, falling back, as I expected, on the default of "I'm just following company policy" excuse. My advice to others: NEVER do business with Enterprise. At every turn the company will nibble at your bank account and take whatever it feels like taking. If Enterprise has your credit or debit card number, you're an easy mark and target for these thieves: they will not lease a car to a customer unless the customer gives Enterprise a free loan of what is claimed to be a "deposit" but is actually a completed charge not a mere "hold" on your account funds. And that sum will not be refunded upon return of the vehicle: you'll wait days to have the funds back although the lie at the time of the rental will be a promise that the funds will be returned to your account upon return of the vehicle. And when the car is returned, that claimed "refund" which will take days to show up as a credit in one's account, will be less than what the customer is owed and less than what Enterprise agreed the customer is owed. BEWARE! Do business elsewhere. If it was possible to give this Enterprise outlet a minus one thousand stars, that would be about right as an award. read more

Rent a car from somewhere else! Enterprise on market street wrongly charged me $450 dollars, without authorization or notice. When I called to question the charge, the branch manager was condescending and rude. I had to get my bank and insurance company, who was paying for my rental, to resolve the issue because enterprise was no help. When the manager finally called me back to tell me I'd be refunded, he did not offer any kind of apology or take any responsibility for the mix up. Anyone with basic customer service skills would know to at least be courteous and say "sorry if this has caused any inconvenience"....Nothing. Same condescending and dismissive attitude. I have heard similar stories from others about unauthorized chargers on their cards after renting with enterprise. To add insult to injury, enterprise corporate commented on the review I left on google saying they would look into it if I reached out. I emailed them and never heard back, so clearly that was for show. Don't give these people your debit card info. read more

My car dealer ran out of cars and sent me to Enterprise. They gave me a new Toyota RAV4 to rent for the day while my car was being serviced.. I drove it home and back to the dealer - 15 miles. The RAV4 gets 25 MPG. I was charged $7.78 for gas. Really?? Never had an issue with a dealer rental car. Never again will I let them send me to Enterprise. **Update - I contacted the email you provided below. Terrible experience. Needed a rental due to needing a repair of my vehicle. Explained everything (another company paying for the rental due to messing up my car) about how it should be invoiced to another company, etc. Charges still went to my charge card, and after several weeks I still have not been refunded. Warning: this location lacks integrity. The location targeted university students by offering to waive fees for being under 25 years old to increase business flow during covid-19. When I extended this contract for 30 days at the same rate, they called 6 days into the contract to retro-actively increase the cost by 38%. This location offers deals to get people in the door so then they can change the contract because "corporate said so" to fix their margins. Attacking student pockets during these challenging times is bad business, predatory, and immoral. I do not recommend this location and would not transact on anything associated with this branch, even if it were free (because costs will be changed when they feel like anyway). read more

Rented a car from here after my daughter totaled ours. Staff was fantastic, super polite and well versed. Not pushy at all. When I had to switch vehicles mid rental, I came back to the shop in the pouring rain. One of the customer service people came running outside with an umbrella to meet me at the car! I would definitely rent here again. The only drawback is the physical location. The entrance is poorly marked on Market Street, and the turn leads you into a TINY extremely busy parking lot. But I would still go here again in a heartbeat. read more

Despite his corporate office stating NOT to attempt to return the vehicle in the snow storm with 25 inches of snow, he still proceeded to charge for an additional 2 days even though they themselves could not open. This review is specifically about the Enterprise on Market Street in West Chester, PA. STELLAR customer service. I primarily dealt with Jarod. When I rented the vehicle for vacation, they explained their dog policy. Dogs are allowed in the vehicle; if there is pet hair left in the vehicle upon return, they reserve the right to charge a detailing fee. I'm handicapped, and my dog was trained to be my service dog. On our way back from vacation, we had a flat tire and unfortunately had to deal with the Enterprise in Front Royal, Virginia. I've written a separate review about our experience with that location, and gave the Front Royal location one star, since at least one star is required. The Front Royal location refused to provide an alternate vehicle because of my dog (like I'm supposed to abandon my dog 200 miles from home? No way... or walk with a cane and my dog 200 miles from home since they refused to rent a vehicle to us? Absurd). And, they said if they took the vehicle we were in they'd have to charge us an extra fee, and it went downhill from there. Well, of course the vehicle wasn't "clean" - it was packed and we'd been using it for the past six days. Our plan was to get home, empty the vehicle, clean it up appropriately and return it. The expression on the face of the agent in Front Royal seemed to be one of disbelief. When I told him that our local Enterprise allowed dogs, he said they don't, because their national policy was no dogs. So he implied I was either lying or an idiot. (And yes, their policy does allow dogs, if you look on their national website, it says so). Ugh. But I digress.... Back to the happy experience with the West Chester, PA location.... Upon my return of the vehicle to the West Chester, PA location, Jarod handled everything. He inspected the vehicle, found no problems inside or out, saw that we'd returned it with the correct fuel level, and having heard about our difficulties (which was obvious, as the flat tire was in the car, and a donut tire was being used in place of the flat), Jarod extended a discount off of the current rental and a card for a free upgrade on our next rental. He also said if anything ever happened like this in a future rental, to get his office involved directly. Jarod and the Enterprise team at West Chester are great. They know their company's corporate policy on dogs, they understand the ADA (American with Disabilities Act), and they understand about customer service. This wasn't the first time that I've rented from this location, and it certainly won't be the last time either. Five stars and both thumbs up for Jarod and his team at Enterprise in West Chester, PA. They exemplify what every Enterprise location should attempt to be like. read more

I rented from Enterprise about a month ago and due to not being able to make a reservation beforehand, was given a choice of the only two available rentals on site. This was understandable and I made an appointment to come back after work. On my original vehicle, a multifamily van, my representative did the walk around and was nice enough. When I came back after work, I had the same representative who helped get me another car and just redid my contract and gave me the keys. I had no walk around of the car and after a stressful day, did not even think to walk around and take photos of the car. About 10-12 days later when returning the car, a different representative asked me where the "scratches" in various spots around the car came from. There were approximately 5 scratches, not very deep and in random places around the car. 2-3 on different spots of the front hood, 1 on the side and 1 on the back. I was a little confused because not only did I not notice these scratches, I had no idea what would even scratch a car that way besides normal wear and tear. The representative seemed to pounce right on the scratches almost as if this is something they do when a customer returns the car. The representative then told me that she would be filing a claim with my insurance over the scratches. I asked the representative if they had any timed photos of the car before releasing it to each new customer to which she replied that they did not. As a teacher who only needed the car to drive to and from work and parked in a garage each night, there is no way that my drive to and from work created scratches enough to create a claim. I advise anyone who requires a rental car, which is usually a stressful situation to begin with, to not rent from Enterprise in general, but especially this location in West Chester. read more

Upon returning, the guy started saying that there were holes from hail on the roof...Hmmm... first of all, we are in August and the hail storm was months ago.. Then they talked about a broken head light which was already documented when I picked up the car. They actually put a claim in with my insurance Company. They are not even smart enough to lie about it!! It is obvious that they are trying to get their cars fixed by the insurance agencies from the innocent people that are renting from them! Terrible, terrible experience and quite similar to Tim's review. My car and home were damaged due to a storm and they said they only had one car available which was over my insurance' daily limit. They gave me no other options and insisted I had to pay the extra cost. When I went in to exchange the vehicle a few days later for one in my price range, the manager made me feel so ridiculous that I couldn't remember who I spoke to and made the reservation with over the phone. I had been talking with so many people that week because of all the damage that I could not remember. He made me feel so embarrassed in front of everyone. Returned the car today and there were "new" scratches that somehow appeared in the 20 minutes since I left work and drove to their location. The guy checking in the car totally did this on purpose! PSA: Enterprise is a SCAM. If you ever have to rent from here you HAVE to take pictures and document anything wrong with the car. Two years ago after a tree fell on my car while I was driving, which was traumatic enough, I rented a car from Enterprise. I returned the car and one month later I got a call from Enterprise saying they charged me $900 for a TWO INCH scratch without my approval, for a scratch that I didn't cause. We pointed out the scratch before we rented the car and they said that it was noted. Clearly it wasn't and they were looking for someone to blame. I didn't take any pictures to prove that it wasn't me because I naively thought I was simply renting a car. Two years later after someone runs a stop sign and totals my car, again traumatic enough, I had no choice but to deal with Enterprise again. My second time around I decided it's in my best interest to take some pictures of the damages on the car. After dealing with insurance companies, car companies, and injuries after the accident for two weeks, I returned the rental car. The Enterprise worker blamed me for the damage to the car immediately after looking the car over. THANK GOD I took pictures and proved him wrong or I would have been wrongfully charged an absurd amount of money for the second time. I don't care about much and I don't let a lot of things bother me but this is the worst company I've ever dealt with and they rob people of their money after already traumatic and horrible situations. Hands down the worst experience I have ever had renting a car. I should have read the reviews before renting here! I feel pretty foolish for falling for what is probably the oldest scam in the car rental business. You know the routine--the manager offered me a water bottle and a free upgrade. After a cursory walk around the car, he asked me to sign the paper saying there was no damage when there was. Of course I could take his word for it that the existing damage was only surface damage and was not significant. I returned the car--and of course they found the damage that was there all along. $500 dollars. Oh, and they accused me of lying on top of it. I was in a pinch trying to find a last minute rental while my car was getting fixed after an accident. Enterprise was able to help me with only an hour's notice. When they didn't have the exact size car I needed, they bumped me up to an even larger and nicer one without charging me any extra. They were very kind, helpful and accommodating. They picked me up when I needed a rental and then picked up the rental car when I was done with it. I will certainly go right to them next time I need to rent a car. read more

Upon returning, the manager started saying that front bumper is damaged. The person who did my contract told his manager he forgot to mark because it was not bigger than dollar coin. Hmmm... This is Bill. Bill always uses Enterprise as car rental agency because they seem to be more professional than others. Bill trust Enterprise and the employers at the West Chester location, because he has rented here many times. Last time he rented a car though, while checking the car the employer did not mark a damage on the contract. When Bill returned the car, he was blamed, even if he actually didn't damaged the vehicle. Be smart, don't be like Bill. Check thoroughly the contract before signing it, even if it looks like the damage was noted. Take multiple pictures of the outside and inside of the car you're renting before leaving the parking lot, and include the plate and the odometer. When they blame you for something you didn't do, you will have evidence to prove you didn't do it. Let me repeat myself: take multiple pictures of the vehicle you're renting, both outside and inside. We asked for anything small they gave us a car more expensive then the insurance company would pay. after my best friend had to rent a car cause she was hit by a cab that ran a stop sign. her car was totaled.thank god her 3 year old wasn't hurt, but she received a concussion that turned into a brain injury that she now has to go to Bryn Mawr rehab for. After the ten calls to the manager Eric to make sure the cab companies insurance co. Was going to pay the extra money a day for her rental and the $20 a day insurance. Then after the worst rental experience ever we returned the car in the same shape as when we rented it. The other manager Nichole came out to inspect the car she she squatted down like she new there was a scratch on the bottom of the car. She called this the catcher position. When I told her Eric that rented us the car never got in the"catchers" position. she said that he did it's part of there strict training. I had to kneel down to see the scratch on the dirty oil stained ground .then she tryed to get my friend to give her a $500 deductible. she refused to do so. When I finally got someone in damage claims on the phone because the w.c. office wouldn't give me the number I explained what happened. She said she never heard of the catcher's position. .after telling the story to friends and my customer's more then 1 person said the w.c.store is famous for that. In conclusion I asked the regional manager to call me to no avail. By the way while I was on hold over and over I heard the enterprise slogan " we treat our customers the way they should be treated. .right .now I know where they got there name it should be called a little too enterprising. scam, scam, scam!!! i returned my car to this location yesterday afternoon. the woman at the desk never asked me to come outside to do an inspection on the car, instead she asked for the keys, and said she would be right back, she just needed to check the car in real quick. well after about 15 minutes of waiting, i looked outside, and saw this woman almost on her hands and knees, obviously going out of her way to find something. well she did! she found the most subtle indentation, about the size of a knuckle, which i am convinced is what she used to make this dimple. it is so barely noticeable, it is no wonder it was over looked by the employee that rented me the car in phoenixville. she stated i was not to receive my deposit back, and that i probably will have to pay them my $500 dollar deductible, and if it was more than that to fix, she would have to file a claim with my insurance. i asked how to dispute these claims, and with a smirk, she said, this is why your supposed to buy our insurance. you cannot imagine how hot i was at this point. she said i needed to take it up with the branch that tented me the car. soooo i drove to phoenixville figuring the nice people that rented me the vehicle would remedy this situation. wrong!! was told there was nothing they could do. i had to ask for the names of the employees involved with this 4 to 5 times before she finally gave them to me. and when i asked her for contact information for anybody in a position higher than branch manager, she gave me a name and phone number. only problem is that the number she gave me only gave me the option to leave a message in a general mailbox. i called her back and she said she would email her boss and have him contact me. no call back whatsoever since then. i started looking to see if anyone else has had this kind of experience with them to find hundreds of similar stories on consumer affairs website, then i checked local reviews on several sites on this location, and could not believe how many people have left similar reviews, god knows how many people that haven't left reviews. well i implore anyone with a similar experience to spread it any way you can. my next step is contacting the attorney general, better business bureau, consumer affairs, state, and local representatives, as well as spreading the word as much as possible over social media. what is obviously going on here is, a ploy to have any damages fixed by those who deny buying there insurance, as i am positive, had i bought there insurance, this would never have been a damage worthy of fixing. you need to look at just the right angle just to see it. this is obviously there common business practice. read more
