I've been a longtime Enterprise customer, but I'm done. I was treated horribly by this branch--which, by the way I have rented from at least 5 or 6 times--simply for wanting to use my debit card. Enterprise apparently has a bizarre policy whereby you have to bring a utility bill with your address on it if you want to use a debit card. I know that policy must be corporate because I've seem reviews for other branches mention it. This makes no sense to me. Because I normally rent for business purposes, and do not have a corporate credit card, I use my debit card because the expense is tax deductible. I've been doing this for years. I had work in New Jersey today but could not go because an employee at this branch would not accept my cable bill. Here's what happened: I reserved a car last week for today through Saturday. Yesterday I called to confirm the reservation and was told to "bring a utility bill if you want to use a debit card"--I was not told it couldn't have a balance on it (??!!) Nor was I told it had to have my old address on it. I assumed they'd want something with my current address. They also said they'd have to put a hold on the card of $400. Not a problem. You'd think the fact that my card had plenty of money on it to cover both the rental and the hold would be enough. Or maybe that I'm an Enterprise Plus member. Or maybe that I've consistently rented only from Enterprise for YEARS..nope. When I gave her the cable bill, the first thing she said is "you have a balance." Because she was looking at her computer I thought she meant I had a balance from my last rental. No, she was referring to the balance of my cable bill. ??!! It has a balance because it's a BILL. I paid the balance online. Next month,I will get another bill asking me to pay for the upcoming month's service. I can't believe I'm even having to explain this. Then she pointed out that the address on my driver's license didn't match the bill. Yeah, because I just moved, and haven't had a chance to change my license yet? I offered to show her my lease but she didn't care about that. Instead I found myself scrambling to try to remember my passwords for all my utility accounts at my former address, and they were all closed out in August. She made it seem like there was absolutely no record of me in the system. I was made to feel like someone who just came in off the street. I said well you've made it impossible for me to rent this car as I was walking out and she was very dismissive, like "bye." That is $300 they lost on this rental and any future rentals. From someone who has given them a lot of money over the years and always returned the cars in pristine condition. I can understand being treated like this if you're new, but not when you've been a loyal customer for several years with an Enterprise Plus membership. This all happened right before they closed, and I had to take a Lyft back home. Lost the $500 gig I was supposed to have in Jersey because the employer wanted me to pay for an uber up there which would have reduced my pay to $300 and an entire day in Jersey for that amount was no longer economic. I think I'm gonna be trying one of those new car share programs next time where you don't have to deal with this bureaucratic nonsense. read more

Avoid enterprise at all cost. Avoid this one and another one near by (15 min away). People do not do their jobs properly. The cars all smell like cigarettes and they come so damaged and disgustingly dirty. They only have SUV and big cars and will charge you $40/day (includes tax). These people are charging me with damage that was on the car prior to my rental and they're faulting me since it wasn't documented in their system. How in the world is that my fault? People are not of the sane mind after an accident and these people are taking advantage of that instead of being compassionate. It's disgusting. read more

chris everett is my hero. no, not the tennis player - the assistant branch manager at enterprise. he was my point person for the MONTH that i was rockin a rental while my car was being repaired, and i couldn't be happier with the service i received. enterprise will pick you up....but not on a saturday, as i quickly learned the sat morning that i needed to get a rental. after getting a lift over, chris set me up with my ride: a jeep liberty. as it was a saturday, inventory was low and no economy models were in stock, so we split the difference on the cost of what wasn't covered by allstate. once again, it pays to work with a preferred partner, and have an insurance plan that covers $20/day. come monday, chris had me set up with my next ride: a toyota corrola. not as fancy, but much easier to park :) and brand new with only 600 miles on it when the keys were handed over. the transfer took mere minutes, and i was on my way. as i had some small furniture i needed to move, i decided to trade in the corrola for another SUV with just one day left til my car was due back from the body shop. i wasn't sure if this was ok, but one call to chris, who remembered me every time i called, confirmed it was a go. when i went to pick up the new wheels, he informed me that he'd made a judgment call to give me a minivan instead as it offered more room at a cheaper rate. (thanks for not trying to gouge me!) my 3rd and final rental car was a chrysler town & country, and, surprisingly enough to this so-very-not-a-soccer-mom....i loved it. and when it was time to relinquish my baller ride to enterprise, chris drove me home. if ever i'm without my car again, or want to take a rental on a roadtrip, i know who i'm calling. read more

Late pickup (25 minutes AFTER my rental time was to begin). Then 20 minute wait for car because of only2 staff members and 2 returns that walked in after me. Car was defective- Right turn signal and Right brake light out. When autolights come on, Car pings whenever it recognizes that the lights are out. Which meant it pinged about every 10 seconds in a 45 minute ride to work. Notified staff the same day and when returned and they admitted that they knew it had a problem BEFORE they rented it to me. They didn't care, and it showed. We have been using them on and off for 5 years. This experience was so bad, we won't be coming back. 6/6/16 Updated. Corporate called. Took a lot of notes. Was offered free upgrade for next rental. Will be still going elsewhere. Might try another Enterprise location if I need a rental. read more

First experience renting a car and I used Enterprise of Havertown. Everything went smoothly. The car was in good condition, driving away with the car and returning it took only minutes, and the staff was pleasant, helpful, and drove me back home after returning the car. If I ever need to rent a car again I will return to this location. read more

I've had better experiences at other Enterprise locations. On 05/10/2016, I was having my car serviced at Ardmore Toyota and needed a loaner car. Enterprise has a loaner car relationship with Toyota. Toyota takes you to Enterprise to pick up the car and when your car is ready you can leave the loaner car at Toyota and they will return it to Enterprise. I've done it many times before with no problems. Toyota pays for the loaner while they are servicing your car. I always get the additional insurance coverage from Enterprise which is about $25.79 a day. I usually get a car from the Enterprise in Narberth,PA on Montgomery Avenue. They are absolutely great! I use them for vacation rentals they are so good! However, this particular Enterprise franchise was the closest one that had a similar size car to mine available. They were busy and didn't seem to have enough staff to service all the customers. I had a decent wait time. It is quite nerve wrecking to need to get to work while standing around waiting. This one doesn't have a car wash. The car I was given was dusty inside and loaded with pollen and road tar all over the outside body. They offered a free car wash voucher for the location on City Avenue, but I didn't have that kind of time. Also who is going to be bothered with that when you only expect to have the car for a day. On the morning of 05/11/2016 I took the Enterprise car back to Toyota around 7:30AM as my car was ready. When I got the rental the day before, it was around 10:30AM. I wanted to give Toyota plenty of time to return the car to Enterprise. I had to give Enterprise my credit card info and I did not want to be charged for a car that I had returned and was no longer using. I had intended to contact Enterprise myself to confirm the same. When I arrived to work around 9AM I received a call from Jenn at Enterprise. She wanted to see if all was well with the rental. I told her I had already returned it to Toyota that morning. She seemed surprised but I confirmed with her my car repairs were complete. It makes perfectly common sense to me that at that point she would have contacted Toyota, confirmed that they had the car in their possession, charged me for the one day's insurance and closed out the rental. Imagine my surprise today, 06/03/2016, when I get a call from Jenn at Enterprise to confirm that they were going to charge my credit card for over $100 for the 4 day rental. I almost hit the roof. First of all this rental was some time ago, they are just calling me now. It smelled like a scam. Clearly she did not follow up or document anything from the rental and return on 5/10/16 & 05/11/16. To add insult to injury, she didn't take my word for it, she had to call Toyota first before she called me back to say Enterprise would only charge me for the one day. I have to give this place 4 out of 5 stars. What stands out the most is the outstanding service. With a recent death in the family, I had to rent a car quickly in order to drive out of state. These guys were great. They got me a standard size SUV on the same day that I needed it. The employees were polite, conversational, and explained everything to me in detail. I also thought that the price was right. For a week's rental, the total came to around $500. After one day with the SUV, Enterprise called me to check in and see how everything was going. That was comforting to me. My only gripe was with the condition of the car's inside when we got it. It could have been cleaned better. There was some dirt present, and there was a smoke smell. I got an air freshener to help out with that. Other than that, I am definitely going here when I need another car. When a place makes me feel comfortable, and the price is reasonable, I will come back. That applies here. Thank you, Enterprise. read more

I booked a rental car online and arrived at the pickup time with my reservation. I was told they didn't have a car ready but would get one if I could return between 5:15 and 6:00. They told me they tried to contact me about the delay. Since they close at six, I offered to fill out any paperwork early but I was told they had all they needed from the online application. I went home and checked my e-mail and call logs and found no notice from Enterprise about the delay. I returned at 5:15 and waited for about 15 minutes before they had a car ready. But when I gave them my TD Bank Visa card, they told me they couldn't use that card or any card connected to a checking account unless I brought in 2 utility bills before they closed at 6:00pm -- which I couldn't do since it was close to six by the time they notified me. Avoid this branch. They didn't have a car ready at the initial reservation time or the second pickup time. Neither clerk was paying too much attention to what they were doing. The first lied to me about trying to contact me. The second seemed more interested in getting out of the door by six o'clock. The staff here is incompetent. read more

I made reservation for a pickup on Saturday morning. When I arrived at the office, I was told the car reserved for me was being used to pickup a customer and it should be ready for rental as as soon as it arrives. This was my first disappointment. I've asked if I can be provided car and was told no by the female customer service rep. who seemed to be charge of the branch even though there seem to be many cars in the garage attached to the branch. I made my reservation for a compact car and was given a Chevrolet Impala. As the male customer rep. who was handling my reservation, asked the female rep. should I give him the Impala (without asking my opinion) and she said yes. The Impala's front driver's siide tire was clearly showing a baldness. This was my 2nd disappointment. I didn't notice this until after I drove away with the car several hours later and many miles away. I think through the whole deal at the branch, I had to wait about 15 minutes. My 3rd disappointment was the altitude of the female customer rep. After leaving the branch, I made a promise to never make another reservation at this branch. Unfortunately, I have to make this decision as result of poor customer service which I feel is a incident that doesn't reflect the overall branch but the employees working there at that time. read more

Used this facility because of proximity to where I was staying and needed a car for a weekend trip to NJ. Had originally planned on returning it to Philly airport, and the fee was very reasonable (or no charge). When I said I could bring it back to the same place I rented from, they reduced the price to just the daily fee. Car was great; clean, only 15K miles, a 2016 with great amenities. This was a courtesy upgrade from my original request. Staff was great, friendly and professional. Would not hesitate to rent from there again or recommend this Enterprise. read more

WORST RENTAL LOCATION!!! Whether or not you reserve a car with them prior to pick up is irrelevant. They try to give you a car that you did not request without confirming with you. Bad customer service, rude employees who don't know their own company policies. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth about the company. We rented a Mazda 2 from the Upper Darby, Pa, branch on West Chester Pike. The car over all, performed very well --- good gas mileage, and enough space for us, for a weekend away. However, the car was given to us by the agency with a broken key. You couldn't open or lock the door, from the outside. We found it very inconvenient! Also, the door locks on the interior of the car were not in the usual place, and we couldn't find them, until half the trip was over. They were on the console near the gear shift. The worst part about this was that the Enterprise employee knew about this problem, and never attempted to correct the situation, by offering an upgrade, or something that worked.
