Garbage bin was full, garbage all over the floor and seats. The exterior was full of dead bugs and so dirty. I was obvious the car was not checked in when the previous renters returned it. We requested the car be cleaned before we take it, but Anthony offered us another mini van. This different van had a totally bald passenger front tire. Like, completely flat. We let the guy know (Anthony). He told us WE can take the car to the tire shops to get it fixed!!! Obviously we passed up that option. He then told us to give him 1 hour and he would have the car cleaned. So we did just that. When we returned Anthony was not there and I called on the number provided at the desk. He told me he had to do an errand and HAD NOT CLEAN THE CAR during that said hour!!! Then he tried to suggest we rent a SUV because it sat 7 people, like the mini van. We rented the mini van for a reason and didn't accept his offer. After 3 HOURS of dealing with this WE took the car home and cleaned it ourselves. We absolutely gave the vehicle back cleaner than we got it, and with a full tank, which was not what we were given even though he checked off on the forms that it was. During all of this debacle the guy was dealing with other customers, and each time we were giving a new car he just handed me new keys and NO PAPERWORK!!! I had to ask for the contract for the van. I still cannot believe I spent 3 hours there just to drive off with the original dirty vehicle. Never again, Budget.

The gratuity tip at the beginning of the arrival I would not recommend to sign because you never know that you are going to get. For some reason this seemed fun and it was more than fun... We pulled into the AutoCamp and it's really a really nice property. You'll park your vehicle in a lot and then check in at the lodge. The staff gave us our keys and a map to our airstream. Also filled us in on the entertainment and goings on at facility's. We loaded are gear onto the carts provided so we can move our gear around... Found our camper with ease. Outside our Airstream was table and fire pit should we have wanted to enjoy an evening fireside moment.. Wood was available for sale at the lodge. Inside was a queen sized bed with small tv for viewing. Our shower was great, I mean you're in an airstream yet it was hot and kinda powerful. Now it's summer time so you're gonna need AC or you'll broil in this thing. Yes on the AC and this blew cold air like an attic storm.. My thoughts are you could literally live in one of these if needed should the zombie apocalypse happen. Now the AutoCamp has some other ways to enjoy your trip. You can have a cabin / trailer or for a person whom enjoys a TENT Experience well they have that as well.. Can't say enough positive things about The AutoCamp cause we had a blast. Also note it's super close to the ferry docks so you can travel to Martha's Vineyard for the day. Will come back for another experience I guarantee it...

They bus you to the ferry at Woods Hole, your ferry ticket round trip is included. Leave at 9:45 a.m. and catch the 3:45 p.m. at Oak Bluffs. It really depends who is collecting the tickets whether you walk up the ramp with a walker or get to use their elevator. If you are driving you can take your car over on the ferry run by Steamship Authority. Depends who is manning the elevator whether they remember to take wheelchair users and/or customers using walkers back down. Going was fine but coming off they probably forgot cuz we were the last ones off the ferry when a worker noticed we and another family were waiting at the elevator. Due to that our bus returning to Boston pretty much waited for us and one man who arrived after us. Not a good spot to be in if the rest of the bus riders were ready for the 3 hour ride back to our hotels in Boston.

I'm not a utopian transit wacko who thinks it's plausible to ban cars on the Tappan Zee and of course New Bedford isn't New York but SRTA needs to do better. If I want to be an optimist I can say I enjoyed the scenic walk across the bridge as well as the excellent conversation about food with a Lyft driver. The buses that did exist were generally reliable and drivers were friendly and helpful. And of course I'm grateful that I got there just before the temporary free fare program ended. Tourism/geography notes: the bus can get to you to the scenic Fort Taber area. I stayed in Fairhaven and took the bus to/from downtown several times. It's somewhat indirect, presumably to avoid the bridge that opens for boats, but is listed at a relatively brisk 16 minutes.
