My husband, an established patient, called the office on Tuesday, May 26 to hopefully see the doctor as he felt that something was in his eye that we could not see. His eye was hurting more and getting inflamed. He spoke to the receptionist and he explained the situation and she told him it would be July before he could see a doctor and they would only take emergencies. He told her his eye was hurting and she said that's not an emergency. He hung up and we found a doctor who saw him the next morning. He had a hair deep in the eye that was not visible to us. He is now on antibiotics and we have a new eye doctor. No, the issue was not an emergency, but I thought they would at least fit him in as that's what eye doctors do. How many excuses can office personnel to have crap service. Never answer the phone, days for doctors to get messages or they never get them. When we went to get my mother's medical records to find a better place you won't believe these excuses. We could only get 2 1/2 years of records because they don't have a lot of toner for the printer. They could not fax it to new doctor because fax machine was broken. They had an excuse for everything. Excuses are made for you, they don't help me at all. It's 2025 they don't have good enough programs to just email it or download to an email. The entire appointment went well. I was warmly greeted as I entered the door. The wait time was short. The tech took all my info in a professional manner. My first ophthalmologist after 8 years moved to Texas to be near his children. That was Dr. VEGARRA. He was the best ophthalmologist here in Florida. This practice hired a new doctor. Dr. Magumba. He does cataracts. He promised me my eyes would not hurt at all during surgery. He refused to give me any more doses after 1st dose in pre-op. During surgery I was in severe pain and told me the pain was from slightly moving the New lens around. It was a sensation not pain. I almost stopped my surgery as it was so painful. By then he said he was done with my surgery. Worst eye surgery ever. Thankg-d it was over with. Magumba will never touch me again. And am glad my right eye was done first 3 years ago. The first ophthalmologist was worse. Dr. Chabow was even worse. Am glad he retired over a year ago. read more

They misdiagnosed my husband with macular degeneration and he does not have that-has myopic degeneration which is way less serious-it's a big big difference. We wasted a lot of money on the pricey eye vitamins for a year, until he switched to my eye doctors at St Lukes in the Villages where I got my cataract surgery. Went through the unpleasantness of an exam after 6 weeks of waiting and then 2 more weeks to travel 60 miles to another office to get sized for cataract lenses 3as told they would call me to schedule suggery. Waited 3 weeks and no call so I called him. Told there was a water leak and they couldn't do surgery until fixed. Waited a month and still no call so I called hhrm. Told no surgeries until a remodel was done. Waited another two weeks and was told no surgery scheduling until August. Waited until August 25 and still no call. I am a registered nurse and I have a lot of experience dealing with different facilities, physicians, and ancillary staff. This practice in Crystal River is by far the worst office I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. My first appointment for an annual eye exam and eyeglass fitting was rescheduled because the eyeglass technician quit and the Ocala technician who had previously agreed to work that day in Crystal River refused to come in. A fact I was privy to have hear the office staff talk to her on the telephone. I overheard her complain to her co-workers, "She just said she isn't coming in." The eyeglass appointment was rescheduled. When it was time to pick up my eyeglasses, I showed up at the scheduled time, but they would not release my fully paid eyeglasses to me because there was no eyeglass tech to fit the glasses properly. I asked them to give me the glasses and I would have them fitted at West Coast Eye Institute where I was going next to have the glasses I bought from them tightened. Please note, my insurance changed and I was forced to switch eye doctors. They gave me the glasses. The worst problem was that I was scheduled to see Dr. Ross June 1, 2023, to have him assess a pterygium on my right seeing eye as recommended by the doctor that saw me at my annual exam two months prior. My left eye is 20/400 due to Amblyopia or Lazy eye. I had the procedure performed incorrectly a year earlier (I failed to research the procedure and ask questions, had I done so, I would not have consented to that doctor treating me). Each time the procedure is done, the success rate decreases. I am concerned, of course, it be done correctly this time because I don't want a cornea transplant due to the pterygium damaging the cornea and I CAN'T SEE OUT OF MY LEFT EYE! I failed to bring my notes with three questions to ask Dr. Ross about the procedure, but he didn't give me the time to talk had I brought my notes. I called the office multiple times to ask the questions and no one answered the phone or returned my phone calls as requested on the voice mails I left. I mailed a letter to the office asking three questions about the procedure. I requested the doctor not be offended, but I failed to ask the questions the first time with another surgeon and this resulted in a worsened condition. Two months later, I received answers to my questions. But no one scheduled my surgery date. I decided I was not going to have this Dr. Ross perform my surgery because if I needed help post-op, I sure was not going to get it from this practice. But, I wanted to pursue the communications. In October, I became peeved and called my primary care physician to intervene. They were unable to reach anyone at the Crystal River office but did talk to Priscilla in the Ocala office. Priscilla stated she would reach out to the surgery scheduler. She stated the office was closed due to the hurricane, hence, the lack of communication. I assured her there has been no communication verbally since June 1. No results. No one answered the phone for two weeks, 5-10 calls daily. No one returned my phone calls. I finally spoke to a human two weeks or more ago who stated. She would have the surgery scheduler call me. No call. The physician I work for told me not to deal with this practice as obviously, they do not want to help me. I am flabbergasted that a professional practice is operated so poorly, and the staff is so uncaring. I can only surmise my new insurance company had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find providers to contract with. I will take a closer look at my insurance company this open enrollment period. I would not recommend this provider to anyone. Dr. Ross may be a good surgeon, however, no one will benefit from his experience if one is unable to receive a phone call from his office for ANY communication. read more

Worst experience I've ever had with a medical provider. I had concerns about the procedure and made 8 different attempts to talk to someone about them. Only one staff member acted concerned and sent my contact information to someone she thought could answer my questions. That person did not return my call. I tried to relay my concerns to the Doctor, whom I had never seen before and was not the doctor I was told would do the procedure. They came out to prep me for surgery and prepped the wrong eye. I told them it was the other eye and they told me I was wrong. They finally found out they were about to operate on the wrong eye and prepared the other one. I was still asking about the procedure as they were taking me to the OR. After telling 8 people that I could not lay flat on my back. The young lady taking me to the OR told me that I had no choice because she had to tape my head to the table. I told her I did have a choice and told her to stop the gurney and I got off and left. That was about two weeks ago and I haven't heard from them. My advice to anyone considering going there is don't. read more

I went to envison eyecare in early feburary 2024 because my eye was blurly and could not see. Dr Ramsey looked in my eye and told me there was nothing wrong with my eye. He sent me home with a note for my pp to do test to see if I had a stroke. After having all the tests it turned out that my lens from cataract surgey fell off and was floating in my eye socket. How can a doctor look in your eye and not see this. Beware check out there ratings before making an appointmen with this practice. I call the main office to inform them I was going to write a bad review and nobody called me back. now after 5 weeks I found a doctor to operate and remove the lens and insert a new one. My wife had a final follow up after her cataract surgery. Her appointment was for 1:15. We arrived at 1 pm. They are closed from noon to 1 pm for lunch. The staff arrived at 1:15 and the Dr. 1:40. At 2:45 we finally left the office. She was supposed to be fitted for new glasses but the tech couldn't work the computer system so we she has to go back for that. My wife and I have used them for over two years and their office has always been so totally unorganized. They overbook terribly. I had my cataract surgery done on one eye and now the other needs it. They took me in examine my eyes dilated them and scheduled me a month and a half out and I said that's a long wait for cataract surgery but I thought well I will do it. On time for my 3:30 appt and was waiting in line to check in. The lady in front of me was being told they tried to reach her to cancel her appt due to the doctor being "away", but she never received the phone call. A gentleman came out of the office complaining he waited two hours for a five minute consult. By the time I was able to check in it was 15 minutes past my appt and seven people were behind me in line. This branch of Envision overbooked my time slot. I gave up (cancelled) my appt because the lady behind the desk wanted my $20 copay but could not tell me how long the wait would be. I said I wasn't paying the copay to sit there for who knows how long and I gave up my time for the elderly folks behind me in line. Made an appt with the Ocala office as I was told they don't overbook as much as the Crystal River office. VERY DISAPPOINTED I MADE THE DRIVE TO CRYSTAL RIVER without getting my 5 minute consult. If you are looking for a clinic that is professional, caring, pleasant and respects your time as a patient then this is NOT your clinic. We arrived 20 min. early for our apt. to find a full clinic waiting room and no one at the front desk. We were told by other patients that they go to lunch so just have a seat. Although all the patients in the waiting room were wearing masks, all of the staff WAS NOT, including their manager, Regina. The ones who did have them on were wearing them BELOW their nose! When I mentioned it, I was told they "fall down" (which was not my observation) Even new patients were not "welcomed" instead given a clipboard to fill out and told to go sit down. After waiting over an hour I asked the gal at the front desk (no one wears name tags) if she had any idea how much longer it may be. She looked at the rack and said well he's "up to be seen" so when they get to him.( I think we already knew that much! ) While we thought we were going to have an apt with the Dr. to discuss the lack of results of the surgery and what the next treatment plan would be. We were surprised to find out that my hubby was just scheduled for suture removal! 3 hours in confinement with a full clinic and lack of protection to covid from their own staff is inexcusable! I just pray the gentleman sitting with his oxygen tank next to us wasn't exposed to covid while he was there. read more

Most unprofessional office I've ever been in. From the first encounter with the staff to the visit with the Dr. I got the "I really don't care" attitude. The ridiculously long wait to get into the room is then added to when you have to wait in another room to see the Dr... Total of over 1.5 to 2 hours of you are lucky. When that is mentioned to any staff member it's as if your time doesn't mean a thing. First appointment time was 8am. The Dr. doesn't even get there until 8:30!!?? If you want to wait half the day to see a mediocre Dr. then this is your place..I wouldn't trust. read more

I went in for my appointment and was not impressed with any part of my visit. I have had glasses for to many years to count and I have NEVER had the tech and not the dr check my vision. Was told this is how they do it at there office. Than went to get glasses and was told to look around while she checked with my insurance and they had men's and ladies all together not separated. They did not take my lack of vision seriously and now I have lost a large part of my vision to Glaucoma. They do not even have sun protection to give you when your eyes have been dilated. I will never get back the vision I have lost thanks to their lack of care and diligence. read more

High  doctor turn over and high staff turn over speaks volumes, this business treats their staff terrible and their hired doctors even worse, just imagine how they treat their patients  that forced to go there because of their insurance contract with this provider. I know because I had a close family member work there for a short time. Because of the poor patient care they quickly found new employment and moved on, not wanting to be associated with a practice that provides such low quality care. One good rating or a self written auto biography on a web page does not make them a good practice. The fact that people do not take the time to write bad comments does not mean they do not exists. Remember who pays for the website manages the wording on it. doctors do not like to job hoop, so when you have a place that goes through good doctors and optometrist  like an old car goes through oil, it should raise concern. I have been there twice before and never had a problem. Today, I went in for a routine diabetic eye checkup. Going through the process, the young girl told me to go wait in another room so I did, thinking, wow, how long is this going to take. Then the female supervisor comes in and literally starts SCREAMING at me demanding why I was refusing to have my eyes checked. I jumped up and raised my voice. I will not tolerate disrespect, especially when I am the patient. I asked her what she was talking about, I had not refused any treatment. I also said I took great offense to her tone and how dare she disrespect me. Was she accustomed to doing this to all patients? I have been in healthcare for 42 years and have to say I have never had such an open attack from a caregiver. Then she said she was offended. She does not have the right to be offended when she has rudely treated a patient in such a disrespectful and evil manner. I was the customer. She said she had 27 years of experience, blah, blah, which I found horrifying thinking of how many people she had tried to bully and treat so rudely over those years. The doctor finally interacted with me and continued the process. He was polite, congenial, explained everything, and all that I expected in a caregiver. I have no idea if he was aware of his staff's disgusting behavior, but unfortunately the negative rings louder than the positive especially when that female was actually verbally attacking me. read more
