I went to get a gel manicure and I don't know if they just shaved my nails down so bad while trying to get the gel off but my nails are so brittle and breaking that it's even pulling the nail off the skin. I have never written a Yelp review before, but after this nightmare of an experience, I have to warn people. I've been coming here for 5 years with no issues until I got stuck with Kevin. He couldn't do a basic French tip after multiple failed tries, walked out for three cigarette breaks, ate while doing my nails, and even stopped mid-appointment to work on another client. Beyond unprofessional. Finally, my entire new acrylic set broke off in four days. I've had drugstore press-ons last longer. When I called to get it fixed, Kevin hung up on me repeatedly and refused to make it right. This place used to be amazing under Anna, but now it's a joke. There's a lot of conflicted reviews on here so I would say just give it a chance and if you don't like it go to the place near it Galaxy Nails which is ALWAYS BUSY but good. And that starts off on my story on how I tried to go to Galaxy Nails and it was too busy and the lady rudely blatantly told me "No no no leave". I did just that and drove around and found this place that was relatively empty at 10 am. I asked to do powder and dip and in about 5 min I was sitting down getting my nails done. Then 30 minutes later it was done and looked beautiful. A wonderful guy named Kevin did my nails and I recommend him. He was the absolute sweetest. About to travel tomorrow and wanted a mani, pedi. But needed to be close to bowling alley to get there on time. Found two next to each other. And this is the one i choose. Only 3 people (2 ladiea and a man)working and no one was in the shop at 6pm. Surprisedly but i stayed any way. The shop is old looking compared to others I've been in. They never offered the massage chair. Not sure it worked. It was looking kinda old and the upholstery was worn and old looking. They staff did not talk at all. Not to each other like normally hear in shops. No conversation at all. The lady that did my feet did very well. Got my claws under control yeah. So for that i had to give them 3 stars for the job she did. They were mean or offensive but were not a welcoming group of people. Most would have just walked out. But i gave them my time and money. When they did decide we were there, they recommended we all come back in 2.5 hours even though they had three technicians sitting doing nothing. I love this place. I have been going for 3 years now and I have never had an issue. I always get the appointment time I need even short notice, Dennis will stay open late for me. I love my nails everytime. I have never been disappointed yet. To say it's not clean, I have never got an infection or a fungus in 3 years so if it was that dirty you would think something would happen going every 4 weeks. I work in podiatry and I see a lot of fungus from pedicures so I am picky where I go because of that and I do not have a worry there. read more

When my friend and I walked in the door for pedicures the girl told us it was a 20 minute wait, so we sat down. Then she changes her mind and says it was an hour and 40 minute wait. And we were so confused as to how you go from one extreme to the next in wait times. Then a woman came in and they said she would take us... I went there and as a gift from my mother, I spent $50 plus tip to get a Christmas themed nail scene done. I showed him the picture on Pinterest and I asked the guy if he could do it and he assured me he could. I told him I was ok if he could not do it but he was adamant that he could. Well it was pretty bad and after several people saw it and said it was poorly done, I called. I was told they would redo my manicure as I had a pedicure as well. I went back and selected 2 colors for my next manicure. This time they owner argues with me over my choice of colors that they don't go together. I said I didn't care, it was my choice and I would not blame him for the colors. He still refused to put the 2 colors I had picked out so he first soak my nails to get the gel off. When he added what I assumed was nail polish remover, it was burning pretty much. I told him it was and he said "its working" okay, well I waited awhile and it was starting to burn under my nail bed which I said something again to him. I guess he didn't like that I complained so, since he would not do the 2 color design after spending $50 plus another $10 for a tip, he only put clear polish on my nails and charged me $10. I was quite upset and not wanting to make a scene I went to a cop and I got my money back. They are rude, & refused to use the colors a customer wants. I will not go back there as it was a waste of money, my nails burn & I got charged again for clear polish, no gel, no design. I do not recommend them at all. I've worked in customer service for years now and I hate to be the person that complains or talks badly about an establishment, I always give people the benefit of the doubt. HOWEVER, this place is unbelievably unprofessional to the point where I wouldn't even get service from them if it was for free. I have a very busy schedule, working multiple jobs so I always make appointments for everything. I've tried this place 4 times (they've had four chances to make this right and to keep a regular customer) and I've only had one good experience. The first time I came here was as a walk in on a rainy Saturday afternoon. They were somewhat busy so I had to wait about 15 minutes- which is fine because I didn't have an appointment and I was in no rush to get anywhere. I got a manicure and pedicure and they both lasted about a week and a half which is normal i guess. This place is super close to my job making it convenient to book an appointment during my lunch break, which is what i did the other three times I've tried going here. One of the three times I called and asked for an appointment around noon. They gave me a time that wouldn't work so I suggested 30 minutes after that time and they said ok and hung up. They never asked for my name or number (red flag there). I rushed out of work during my break and when I got there they said they didn't have my appointment and that I was 30 mins late so I would have to wait another 30 mins. That wasn't going to happen, so I wasted my break that day. The other two times that I've made an appointment, i told them I'm on a strict time frame and told them whatever time works best and if they were available. I even said I would get service from whoever was free because I didn't have the time to be picky. Both times I rushed out of work and when I got there they made me wait while the two employees worked on other customers and one employee sat on the pedicure chair while on her phone. I waited almost 15 minutes before leaving because I knew I wouldn't have time to get anything done. Unbelievable. This place is so disorganized and the employees are extremely rude. I highly DO NOT recommend this place. If you guys are ever in the area, I would take the extra 15 min drive and go to Cindy's VIP nails in avenel. I've been there before and although they're a little pricier than this place, the service is OUTSTANDING. I called them after leaving Envy nails this last time and they immediately called me back after missing my call. I normally get my tips at solar nails in woodbridge . ( The best!) Fyi. Sometimes i go to envy to get a soak off to let me nails breath in between . A soak off is one of the options here on the board keep in mind . I walk in for a soak off he asks me if i get my tips on there and i answered no i just need a soak off. He said its ok just sit down and proceeded normally to soak my nails in the acitone that takes no mors than 20 min to soak in before the removal. 2 hours past and my hands are still soaking with no assistance. After 2 hours my skin starting peeling and i couldnt breath correctly from sitting for so long and coughing. I finally spoke up and they told me i dont get my nails done there so i shouldnt be there for a soak off and told me to just leave with my nails 1/2 soaked off. She yelled at me because i dont get my nails done there so its not there problem. If i hadnt spoke up i would have been sitting with my hands in this chemical for 3 hours . Then they proceed to tel me he told me from the beginning i dont get my nails done there so y only come in for soak off. If they they told me from the beginning that was there policy i would have left and went somewhere else. It would have spared me wasting 2 hours. They were mad i do not get my nails done there apparently n made me suffer breathing in a deadly chemical . Very rude. Very unprofessional. I went to solar nails to help me and they told me thats not right. They allow you to walk in for a soak off even though you get your nails done somewhere else and they would never do that there . She also said no wonder all the clients leave there ro here. Its wrong how they treated me. Because its only at $10 proceeger Not only a denial but they let me sit there not only waiting but in a deadly chemical that u can get sick from breathing in for to long. I've been coming to this salon for over 8 years and really liked their friendliness. Until about 3 months ago the racists started. The one tech stopped servicing me and when I inquired as to why she wouldn't service me and started making me waitt over 20 minutes while she took walk ins who shouted up after me, the owner stated that she thought my nails were to hard. I asked what do I have claws or something? They all stated talking in Vietnamese which I do not understand. So I went to get my waxing and the one African/Vietnamese tech offered to take care of me. And she did for about 3 months. I happen to go into the salon on Sunday not knowing that she was off Nd when I walk in I say hello and the owner turns to me and asks if I have an appointment. Was recommended by a friend to go there n sew Dennis bc he was "great"...well 1st off..walked in and should have walked back out...place was filthy...nail dust all over cut nail tips on chairs in waiting area and went to bathroom and owner just walked out and left pee in bowl! All should have made me walk out but I said let me try..well I asked for regular acrylic and he wouldn't do it 4 me. Said pink is better (I didn't want pink n asked 4 regular again)I got pink...asked him to cut mails short and he wouldn't go as short as i asked...then kept pushing me to get gel when I said I didn't want gel..felt like he kept asking me 2 do things to my nails that would cost me more money.not to mention i turnes the small fan on that was on his table n all dust blew into my face!!!!disgusting!!!! .he rushed to polish my nails and did a sloppy job and I left with polish all on sides of my nails...NEEDLESS TO SAY..I LEFT VERY UNHAPPY AND WILL NEVER RETURN!!!! I never had such a bad experience at a nail salon before. My usual salon was closed so on a whim I decided to give this salon a try. At first everything was okay, the salon is very old looking and didn't look the cleanest but I was desperate so I decided to overlook it. What a huge mistake. I asked the nail technician for the almond stiletto nails, showed him a picture of exactly what I wanted and asked him if he could do it. He said he could so he got to work. At first everything looked great but somewhere along the lines the shapes completely warped. My thumbs were crooked, one was completely rounded and the other was extremely pointy. I pointed this out to him and he said he was going to fix it when he shaped them up. I said okay and kept careful watch as he continued to work. As he was doing my nails, he cut me twice, once badly enough to make me jump from the pain. When he was done he asked me if they were good. I honestly couldn't believe that he was serious. The nails were a complete disaster. They were crooked, all slanted to one side and the thumbs were still completely different shapes. I explained all of this to him and asked him to fix it. He agreed and started to reshape them. Again he finished and asked me if it was okay. The shapes were slightly better but still nowhere near the shape I was asking for. The guy doing my nails had such trouble he had to ask another tech to ask him what it was that was wrong and how he could fix it. Finally the nails were about as good as they could possibly get, the thumbs were a lost cause, and he began to paint them. He asked me if I wanted the gel topcoat and hoping this would make the nails look better I agreed. After letting the polish dry he called me over to apply the gel. I had to point out the hair and air bubbles on my thumb which he had to paint over. Then he applied the gel. After letting that dry I paid and left. The experience was so horrible I couldn't wait to get away. It was only after I was home I noticed the gel on my thumb was bubbled up and completely messed up. I now have to go back to get this fixed. I'm so disappointed and annoyed at this whole experience and will absolutely never be going back. read more

I paid this salon a visit for the first time in a few years this past Saturday 3/23. I went in for a regular gel mani and pedi and an older man immediately took me. He first did my pedi - it came out okay except I had broke one of my toe nails and instead of filing it down he just cut off that part and the nail was obviously crooked. He also left a spot clearly shear and I asked if he could fix it and he looked at me confused. I was hoping he wasn't doing my mani but he sat me down in his chair and did the entire thing in about 10 minutes. He got the polish all over my cuticles and I told him this wasn't going to last because once they started growing they would lift and get caught on things.....just about 3 days later it's happened and there's a chip. I paid 46 dollars for this mess and I am not happy about it - my usual salon in the city costs me 50 and does an amazing job. This place is not worth it. read more

I've been to this place once 2x and each time they tried to rush my nails. I went for a fill-in and they wanted me to take all my nails off to do it over. I only needed a filling. Then, he forgot to do the cuticle. When I mentioned it for him to fix it. The Chinese guy near the window got mad. Came in as a walk in when it was completely empty. the guy who did my nails took about an hour and I'm pretty sure he was the owner because he kept answering the phone and handled the money. he kept pushing me towards the powdered colors when I just wanted a gel fill and gel color. When I was done my nails were filed all differently and we're all bumpy. the gel color was all ovdr my fingers like my akin and cuticle part. They looked horrible I could have done a better job myself. It was 35$ which was crazy. 20 for fill 10 for gel color (which is alot and on the board it says 5$) and 5 for a nail design on my ring fingers. I will never go here again. What a waste of money.
