I shared an honest review regarding your management style few months ago concerning Vito Mazza's son, who interrupted a service being provided in order to correct the lady performing the service in front of me. He later questioned why my comment had not been deleted because he felt it was harassment. The replied was defensive supporting my previous observation of his management skills. I was subsequently banned from receiving services. My recommendation remains the same: managerial training would be beneficial. You can find training in YouTube. according to your own response , you leadership style comes across as dictatorial and dismissive of a customer review. Regardless of the number of employees managed, professionalism, communication, and emotional control are essential in any leadership role. The business was originally built by your father, who treated both customers and employees with professionalism and respect. When customers are banned for providing feedback, it reflects poorly on the culture of the business and ultimately impacts both customers and staff. In case you are not aware, there are many businesses that offer the same services. This is not about losing a customer, but about losing the opportunity to receive constructive feedback that helps a business improve. As a former loyal customer, I also recall overhearing workplace discussions during services that involved concerns from employees, including conversations related to their tip handling and management practices. These were not isolated comments, and they contributed to a broader impression of employee dissatisfaction. When internal concerns become visible to customers, it is worth reflecting on workplace culture and communication. If private conversations are not properly managed in a public-facing environment, customers will inevitably hear things that were not intended for them. I experienced this firsthand while receiving services. Reviews are intended to highlight experiences and opportunities for improvement. Responding to feedback by banning customers instead of addressing concerns does not minimize the fact of your poor managerial skills, in the contrary, is expose and supported by yourself. I am the perfect example on how your ego gets in the way. Instead of acknowledging the review, by a simple "thank you for the review, I'll be mindful next time." You are now sacrificing the earning of one of your employees because you ego got in the way . Thanks God for reviews, they show the true nature of people who minimize others just because they think they can and/or because they are the owner of the business. Tsk tsk. read more

One of the best salon experiences I have ever had. I was met by a wonderful friendly woman who took the time to help me find a wig that was right for me. From a shampoo to a scalp treatment, I felt very pampered. The young lady that did my haircut was warm and friendly and she made what little hair I have look better. That was a miracle. One of the kindest was a manager/owner and she walked me through the different kind of hair treatments available. I left in tears as I was so happy to finally have a natural looking wig. It looked like it was my own hair and not like I slapped on a wet puppy on my was. I can't thank them enough. You can't go wrong go there. The do so many wonderful services there. I was disappointed with my basic hair color. They made it too dark, and then the root touch up was obviously too light. So I had to do it twice and it still wasn't the color I wanted. Have been going to Vito Mazza for nearly 7 years now. Even after moving to east brunswick, I drive to Woodbridge. But lately, the service they provide has gone down the drain. There is no connect between the front desk that schedules appointments and the salon artist. This has happened to me thrice and while I have ignored it but this time was a disappointment. We had a scheduled appointment at 1:45 and then we were called and told that the stylist can't take us before 2:30. I was ok with the change but when I called back to confirm for 2:30, the front desk was super rude in how they speak to a client. Left me on hold, without telling me I am on hold. Once we reached, the stylist was clearly pressed for time. She just cut the hair, delegating the blow dry to someone else, which didn't come right. We were of course charged the price of the stylist. I have been earlier taken in by the front desk for coloring and styling, only to be told by my stylist that she can't color my hair as there is not enough time. Since I have been with the stylist for 6-7 years, I ignored it. But this repeated stuff has finally forced me to write this review. read more

I really tried to like this place but it's not what I expected. I went in for a haircut and came out with my hair looking exactly the same. I was scolded about how I color my hair and how dry it was. I asked for layers for some body since my hair is very fine. I got about an inch cut at the bottom and that's it. I was so disappointed and couldn't wait to get out of there so I'm writing this review. I really don't know how they have the nerve to charge me $52 for absolutely nothing. Now I need to find another place this week and spend more money so I can actually get a haircut. read more

Just had another amazing massage with Ilona. This woman is magic! I forgot I was even wearing a mask. Every single touch is very intentional, very purposeful. I just melted away. New safety precautions include: Waiting in your car for check-in, covid screening questionnaire beforehand, hand sanitizer and temperature taken at the door. Mandatory masks for all employees and customers. For your safety the amenities have been removed- No robes, no waiting room, no tea, no snacks. You're taken directly to your room to disrobe. To be quite honest, this massage was so amazing I didn't care about any of the missing amenities. I appreciate the thought and care that went into the concern for my safety. Don't forget to request the eucalyptus essential oils! An extra $10, but it elevates the whole experience to another level. Great job Vito Mazza!! read more

I went to Vitto Mazza for the first time because my friend Shilpi highly recommended the place. I was doing highlights for the first time and I didn't have any knowledge about it. Upon reaching there I was assigned to Crystal who made me look and sign a consultation form. I told her that I used a box dye and I use it once in 3 months (Madison Reed). She didn't ask me about anything else such as henna dye etc. and being my first time I didn't mention it either. The price mentioned seemed like double the price that my friend usually pays i.e. $240 (haircut plus highlights). I didn't question the pricing and went with the flow. I showed a picture of a model and requested similar highlights. Black base and mild red highlights around the layers. Crystal said I could get them done and they would suit me. She started the black dye first and it went well. Once she started doing the actual highlights she kept saying that I may have perhaps used a henna dye in the past and its causing some issue and the highlights are not picking up or sticking on my hair. I didn't know what to say because it was my first time too. I kept asking if we could change the color to a lighter/ more color popping highlights and she kept saying that the highlights was not picking up.  After finishing it all, she did hair cut and blow dry. She did chop my hair a little more than I wanted to, but still the layers looked neat and I was okay with the haircut. I however, didn't see any highlights on my hair and she kept saying it looked sun-kissed. There were stray traces of red but it didn't seem like a $240 plus tip effort. I went home disappointed and very confused.  My friends and husband said that they didn't see any highlights or any visible change and that made me very upset. I called the salon a few times. Lauren didn't return my call until 2 or 3 days later. Lauren and Reena both spoke to me and they said that Crystal must have said that "with henna dye it will take up to 2 to 3 sittings" at the time of consultation.  Crystal didn't say any of those things at the time of the consult or I would have made a decision  right there to not go ahead with the highlights. I live near Princeton and I do  not time to keep going for multiple visits to Woodbridge side. Also they didn't do any swab test to see if my hair had henna. I was a complete beginner and I had no idea how highlighting works or what doesn't work for highlighting. I completely placed myself under the care of these professionals and hoped for some good results. They are now asking me to come in for another round, but not immediately  (a few weeks or months later ? they are also not sure). I don't want to go back there. I just want a refund for the highlights because they didn't do the accurate test to check if my hair was "highlights ready" nor did they give me the choice to stop the procedure once they found about the highlights wasn't working. read more

I decided to book an appt here for a more luxurious experience compared to my usual hair salon. Last time I was here was about 10 year ago, but I figured it would be the same. Their website mentions different levels of stylists but when I called, they just assigned me to a random one without asking. I had a few issues with my hair I wanted to discuss before beginning my hair cut and was happy to see the website states every appointment begins with a consultation. This was not the case for me. I was immediately sent to get my hair washed before the stylist even looked at or felt my hair. While in the chair, my stylist was very nice, but she did not seem very experienced. No products were used on my hair, she wasn't sure how I part my hair, and she forgot to ask if I wanted my hair blown out straight or not. She also seemed to be working on me and another client at the same time so at one point, she needed to walk away to check on the other client and she seemed a little rushed to finish mine to go back to that client again. I wanted longer layers and random sections of my hair are slightly shorter, but not blended at all so it looks a bit choppy. Doesn't really look layered at all. I wanted a fresh new look, but I left with the same hair I came in with just slightly shorter. When paying, I realized I had one of the "associate designers", which is the lowest tier they offer. Maybe if I were assigned someone in the higher tiers I would have had the experience I was looking for? Also worth mentioning, they only allow cash tips so make sure you bring cash... read more

I am giving Vito Mazza "one star", for the hair salon portion of the facility. I went there today to get my gel manicure and hair colored. The gel manicure was great (Carmen did a fabulous job and she was lovely). After my gel manicure, I proceeded to go with Shareen, who was going to color my hair. Shareen was very warm, sweet and attentive. A little back story on my hair: it's colored black (box dye black), therefore I was very realistic as to what my options were for dying it lighter. I wanted a balayage highlight scheme, however after Shareen tested out a strand of my hair we came to the conclusion that this wasn't realistic (the black dye was not lifting at all). Which again, I had no qualms with this I was very understanding that the balayage was not possible for today. Pursing this further, Shareen wanted a "second opinion" from another one of her colleagues as to what can possibly be done with my hair. She proceeded to call over a woman name Lisa. I have never met someone so abrasive and unprofessional. Lisa, was literally yelling "Oh your hairs SHOT!" "Do you want to cut this !?, There's nothing we can do about this, it's all mudded!". Please keep in mind that this was done in a open space, with three other clients around me. At one point everything got quiet. I was so humiliated. At one point Shareen even chuckled a little, because everything was so uncomfortable after Lisa screamed "your hair is shot !". After Lisa left, I was so uncomfortable and upset I decided to leave. Shareen wanted to cut my hair and do what she could, however I felt way to humiliated. It's upsetting because you would think a high class place like vitto mazza, would have professional employees. I finally found a place I could get my gel manicures and spa treatments (I have a $300 credit for a massage, facial and pedicure). My mother comes here as well. I am just so torn about the lack of compassion and professionalism. I don't believe I will be returning here again and if I can get my money back for the $300 credit that would be great. My hair looked amazing and I couldn't have been happier. I went back Saturday for a cut and color and requested Hayley again and my color came out as perfection. She also recommended a color glaze and it has made my hair so much softer. Wonderful experience from start to finish and I'll absolutely be back again. I have to update and say that I've now been back many times and the service is still impressive! In real estate they say it all about location, location, location. Well, when it comes to knockout hair, all I can say is Gina, Gina, Gina!! My hair has never looked so amazing, felt so healthy and turned so many heads. I must say that I have been blessed with beautiful hair and in my mid 50's, I still have plenty of fullness and zero gray which does help. Having said that, Gina knows how to bring out the very best and I trust her judgement. Her technique for balayage is flawless. Its been almost two years since I last had a haircut but for the five years before I had them from Vito Mazza. I like the space and the ambiance. I really like Lisa Montalto who listens to what I want and offers her honest opinion on how that would work on my face and for my lifestyle. There were times when we had a different view but she gave me the haircut I wanted and admitted that it worked well. Butchered my f*cking hair, stylist didn't follow the image that I showed and didn't follow up on the simple tasks asked. I made sure that they said that someone who specializes with men's hair could be there for my appointment when I donate my hair. They assured me there was one of their best, the stylist didn't even know how to line up the front. And she didn't complete the last few things I asked of her. I left the shop angry and bitter, now having to get my hair fixed elsewhere. 0/10 would not recommend wasting your money here. I probably should have reviewed this salon earlier, as I've been here a few times now, but better late than never I guess! I just returned from a very, very long overdue haircut with Alissa today. She was super friendly and asked questions about how I typically prefer to style my hair, what I was looking for, etc. I gave her a general idea of what I wanted, and she gave me exactly that. I am very pleased with the end result and would be happy to come back to Alissa for my next cut (which hopefully won't be a year from now!) The last time I visited prior to this, I had my baby shower makeup done and unfortunately I can't remember the name of the girl who did it, but I still get compliments to this day about how nice my makeup looked so that really says something. I am a regular customer, my sister recommended the salon. Between my sister and me we have spent thousands of dollars at Vito Mazza. And we've also referred other clients to the spa/salon. Unfortunately, I find that the front desk just cannot keep track of appointment dates/times. I was scheduled for an appointment for 7/7 at 6pm. An appointment I made about a month before the actual appointment date! I even got a confirmation via text that I was scheduled for an appointment on 7/7 at 6pm I showed up around 5:40pm to Vito Mazza for my confirmed 6pm appointment. What does the woman at the front desk tell me? That I was "late" for my appointment but they could accommodate me with a different service provider. According to her, I was scheduled for a 5pm appointment. She even tried to tell me that she called me when I was "late". I did not get any missed calls or voicemails. I obviously showed her the text message I got confirming a 6pm appointment. That's when she blamed the system due to a "glitch". Apparently, this is a "known issue" that Vito Mazza customers "regularly experience". If the system you use to schedule and confirm appointments is so glitchy why is Vito Mazza still using the system? This is why I honestly do not believe this version of events. Since I am a regular customer I am extremely nervous something like this will happen again. And the next few appointments I have are right before my sister's wedding! So I cannot have a situation where an appointment is magically moved and/or cancelled. read more

Going in, I was afraid it would be very "Jerseylicious" but it is not in any way. Vinny is an absolute wizard of his craft with a lovely personality to boot. He had a vision for me prior to my appointment which you could tell he spent considerable effort on, and incorporated my own personality rather than his own agenda. I called this morning to do a last minute cut and color.. Somehow got an appt. which was great because I didn't want to change my mind. They booked me with Lucy. The salon is beautiful and everyone welcomed me and they helped me as soon as I walked in.. Which is super important to making people feel comfortable and wanted there. First off I've been to many salons one time and that's it.. Mainly because I paid a bit and felt like I got really nothing for my money. That being said... Lucy was super sweet and knew exactly what I wanted and more. She took her time with me and really did an outstanding job. As far as cost, yes prices are higher, but you're paying for the quality of the stylist.. Which is important. Everyone walking through the salon smiled and welcomed me.. I loved it. I had a good experience and found a place I really feel comfortable going to and would never mind going back. I have only gone to Deneen at Vito Mazza in the past but today she was booked with my sister. I had Laura and I had an equally fantastic experience with her as my massage therapist. I have had many massages over the years and have used multiple places but I love this place the most. From massaging my head, hands, and down to my feet, Laura used the perfect amount of pressure and even took special care in avoiding a spot that had recently been biopsied. I thought that she would have avoided my whole calf but she worked carefully around the spot and made sure that I felt my whole body massage balance out. I had my hair highlighted and dyed here by one of the master stylists and I loved it! It was exactly what I asked for and I truly enjoyed my experience with both the stylist and the shampoo girl. They were very friendly and offered me advice on my hair and a personal situation I was going through. I love them! The staff ,stylists and environment are all extremely welcoming and friendly . I visit the salon once maybe twice a week for a hair styling /blow out with Shannon and it is the best ! She's so friendly & really listens to what you want and always recommends what's best for your hair . I have been to a number of other salons in my area (Woodbridge/Edison/colonia area) and none of them compare to the service that is given here .
