I decided to overlook the bad reviews and visit Envy because I needed a quick manicure...I regret not listening to the reviews. After getting a dip manicure on Friday, two of my nails were broken by Saturday night and another one broke on Monday. I don't do any sorts of activities that put me a higher risk for broken nails- simple and everyday activities broke these weak nails. I am super disappointed and will not be returning. read more

I went here today to get a dip done. halfway through they started putting polish on my nails and I asked what was going on and my nail tech told me I was getting gel. I told him I did not want that and I want to dip he claims that I agreed to let him do gel. I told him I want to dip and he said it would be an extra five dollars to remove the gel he had already put on. Since I did not have an extra five dollars to spend I agreed to let him put gel polish on my nails. When I left I was told that I could come back and fill my nails every few weeks now. Apparently they put acrylics on my nails which I have never had and I'm extremely against because they are unhealthy for your nails. I was then also charged $66 and told it was my fault when I called and asked if I had acrylics on my nails now. I have no idea what the process is for putting on acrylics nor do I know what the process is for gel so I assumed I was just getting gel polish on and not acrylic nails. extremely upset and will not be returning. This was my first time ever going to envy nails & i had gotten a lot of mixed reviews from this place but i had a great experience. although it was very busy (good sign) i got seated pretty quickly. however, i did make an appointment a couple weeks ago & they completely ignored that. i will say, sunday is a very busy day for them since they close early. the staff was very welcoming & funny. i enjoyed talking to them as well as the man who did my nails. he welcomed my opinion on how he was doing. took him less than an hour to do a full set. this was my first time getting acrylics & he helped me choose from the large menu provided. i felt confident in my choice before he started. 10/10 would go to envy nails again read more

I went to Envy when my nail tech went on vacation because I needed a fill and a repair - special event for the weekend so couldn't go any longer with out either. First impression it's not a bad salon, service is good but... and this is a big but for me.. It's now been 5 days and most of my nails are lifting. I have pink and whites which look great, unless you look close. Needless to say I will continue to go to my other gal at Gloss - highly recommended - and won't recommend going to Envy for anything other than a mani or pedi. read more

Let me just start by saying that I make it a point to get my nails done in just about every city I visit. If you know what I do for work, or have been on the road with me, days off are dedicated to sleep, drink and NAILS. Envy Nails in Lawrence Kansas, yes Kansas, is one of the best nail places I have been. And thats saying a lot since my usual spot in Orange County California is my top nail standard. Envy was new, clean, and my tech did a great job on my fill and pedicure. The nail surfaces are even, she didn't make me bleed, and was very gentle but thorough with the drill. I wear my nails very short and she took the time to shape them round yet square. I brought my own colors, but from what I saw, the polish selection was good with OPI, Essie and gel. Also, I love nail art and having a tech that isn't scared to do something other than the normal nail shop flower is a rare find! She did a great job on the simple two color design I chose for my ring finger! The price point was perfect for me, or at least what I am used to for great nail service: $55 for the spa pedi, fill and nail art (not including tip). Envy Nails of Lawrence is now my go to spot in Kansas! read more

Used to love this salon, but a couple of months ago the same people that own Nail City bought it out. They increased the prices, decreased what you get in the services and are completely unprofessional. Everyone working there was on their cell phones and the overall service is just bad. I got a pedicure and shellac manicure and both I could have done better myself. Definitely miss the old owners and will not be back. read more

I have a hard time writing this review, because overall during my only experience at this salon, everyone was friendly. I think that if I had a different nail tech, my experience would have been better. A male nail tech did my nails and immediately started complaining to the lady next to him that he works way too hard. Then, he asked my 10 year old daughter if she wanted a pedicure, to which she answered no. He told her that he couldn't believe that she was going to let her feet be dirty. Um...rude. He kept talking to the tech next to him about how hard he works, and would never shut up. It didn't make for a relaxing experience. I ordered one of their more luxury pedicures, including the parafin wax. He rushed through all steps of the pedicure, then started polishing my nails, forgetting to do the wax. When I reminded him, he stopped polishing, threw my feet in the wax, and took it right off. The wax didn't even have time to harden, as it was still hot to his touch when he tried to remove it. The job was rushed and sloppy, and for what I paid for the "luxury" pedicure, I got cheated out of my experience. I will say that the woman who finished my manicure that he started was pleasant and took her time. It's just not enough to bring me back. read more

Went for my first time just a few days ago. The staff was friendly and polite, but did tend to talk to each other more than the customer. That wasn't a big deal to me, however, as I wanted to to my friend with me anyways. For a basic manicure, $17 isn't bad, but I went with the gel polish so it was $37. The girl did a pretty good job and I'm very happy with my nails. Just be aware that if you want to leave a tip they only allow cash for tips so you can't add it on to your bill if paying by card. read more

Got short, tip, dip color nails two thursdays ago. Not even 4 hours after spending $60 getting them done, the top coat was already peeling off. I called to complain and they told me to come back in, I work a busy schedule and don't have time to spend more of my day for them to try at my nails a second time. I already had to take my nails off because they broke, cracked, and started peeling. If you're going for something basic, they can probably do it, but not anything that may take a little effort to complete. Very unimpressed. read more

1.) my nail technician (didn't catch his name) left half way through doing my nails to scrub another customers feet; he didn't even bother washing his hands before coming back to do my nails. he was rushed between different customers that he kept leaving. when he was doing my nails, he was rushed and trying to get them done as fast as he could. he didn't even pay attention to little details! 2.) see attached pictures for quality of how he did my nails.he gave me attitude when i asked him to fix a few of the nails that were uneven. 3.) under any circumstances, i would NOT recommend coming to this nail salon nor will i be returning. there are plenty of other places in lawrence to try. the price you pay doesn't reflect the quality of service you receive. read more

I couldn't be happier with envy nail! JC was my nail artist today and he was amazing, he spoke to me like I was a real human. He was funny, caring and nice. Sounds odd for me to say about a nail salon. Seriously they are the best I have been to in Lawrence. You get what you pay for that's for sure. If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had in a nail salon. I just got back from Envy Nails and had made an appointment with a few friends. They were understaffed, and the owner/manager ended up doing all of our manicures and pedicures, being EXTREMELY rude and rushed. I had to remind him that he needed to shape my nails. He was on the phone constantly while doing all of our nails, paying absolutely no attention to us. Our nails were smudged, he did not take time to cut our cuticles, and he was extremely rude to all of us throughout the process. It completely ruined the rest of our afternoon. I love their clean business! They have awesome pedicure chairs, nice people, and great service. I got a spa pedicure and a guy did it (first guy to ever do my pedicure lol) and he did great and took his time. Then I got a spa manicure and it was also great. It took a lot longer than I planned on, he was moving pretty slow but that's okay. They do talk to eachother a lot (among workers) but he also asked me about my day and life and such so over all it was a great experience! I love getting my nails done here! I had tried a few places in Lawrence previous to Envy nails, and this is my favorite by far!

Three weeks later and my gel nails are still perfect... I am in shock. This is hands down the best mani I have ever gotten and I have been getting my nails done for a good 16 years. I usually have to peel off my gel polish a little before two weeks after getting them because they start coming off at the nail bed. This time that is not the case! I have even chipped two of my nails but the polish has remained in perfect condition. I'm a nail biter as well and wow I think Envy Nails has cured me. Go here to get your nails done. Horrible customer service. The entire service was rushed, she didn't bother to ask what shape I prefer, and my nails aren't even even. The staff was unpleasant and rude. The people working at this location were very rude. They talked about the customers horribly, and were not paying attention to what they were doing. Focus on the task at hand was so poor I had to ask the technician to redo what she was doing twice and it still looks horrible. It left me wondering: 1. Do they know how to do holographic nails here? 2. Did they go to school for this? 3. How hard is it to shape my nails to match the first hand? I give up! Went to this place several times on a busy Saturday morning and they had plenty of technicians to handle all the walk-ins. I haven't had to wait at all for a pedicure and have had the sweetest technicians. The pedicures have been great, they look fantastic. VERY RUDE STAFF ALERT!!! I had been going to Envy Nails since August of last year and each time the manager Johnny had always done a great job on my hands. He was always super nice and willing to work with any design I asked and even put pictures of his work on their instagram page. I showed up to get my nails done this past Sunday (yes, 2 days ago) and was unfortunate enough to get another nail tech who seemed a bit upset that she had to be at work that day. She did a "not so great" job on my nails, but I didn't complain, and kept about my day. The very next day (yesterday), I noticed that one of my nails was already lifting. It wasn't due to any thing I had done because it was a holiday and I hadn't done anything that day outside of relax. When I came back to Nail Envy today, I let the other nail tech that had greeted me at the door that I had gotten my nails done there just Sunday and it was already lifting so I needed just that one nail repaired. She asked me to identify the color and sit in chair number 1. After siting there for about 2 minutes, the tech that had originally done a TERRIBLE job on my nails came up to me and rudely said "It's gonna be at least an hour" and then immediately walked away. When I asked her why it would be so long to fix just 1 nail (no designs or anything) she said "I have people here waiting that were here before you". Now don't get me wrong, I completely understand that there were people that had been there before me, however, her tone and dismissiveness as to whether or not I cared was absolutely unacceptable. She was so rude that even the person that was sitting waiting, volunteered to allow me to go before them but the technician wasn't having it. I was so turned off, I declined and left. It's completely upsetting because the only reason I was there was because she failed to do my nails properly the first time. I've gone to Envy time after time despite what other's had told me about their work because Johnny was always so nice but now, I refuse to go back. I'll be another lost customer. read more

I had such a terrible experience. I got a manicure/pedicure and I was there for TWO full hours. I don't know how qualified the workers are because my nails were not even filed straight. They also don't clean their pedicure tubs!! I noticed that they weren't cleaning them, so whenI asked about the cleaning process I got a smart remark back. The man actually said something like, "Well when it gets busy we don't really have time." They also have Barbicide with NO utensils in them. It was gross. read more

Only go if you enjoy your technician making racial slurs and gay jokes. The ladies that worked there seemed very nice, but the men were horrible! I went in with a wedding party and was just going to wait and hang out with them. But, they had an open chair, so the ladies I was with talked me in to getting a mani/pedi. I was told by the people that worked there that the male technicians don't work on men. I then was taunted the entire appointment by a man working on my friend about what color nail polish I would get. A group of guys pulled up in front of the salon and the same man said he would call them homo's if they walked in there. He then went on to talk about his experience in the military and how lazy and terrible African American people are. All in all, a very unpleasant experience. Go to a different salon! read more

First off, I hated that the nail technicians chose to speak in their native language whenever none of their customers knew what they were saying. I got a shellac manicure and it cost me $52!!!!!! Worst nail salon ever. It's basically a bunch of kids in there working. The last "boy" who did my pedicure took 1 hr and 15 minutes, incredibly slow. He spent most of the time checking his phone. My polish job looked like something a 5 year old would do. If you are going to be that slow giving a pedicure it should be the best damn pedicure ever, but it was incredibly sloppy. This seems to be a popular nail salon in Lawrence but I do not understand why. I went in for a mani over the weekend and the first thing I noticed was the extremely strong chemical smell. I also noticed a male employee SLURPING on a cup of noodle soup as he began running some pedi tubs. It was unsanitary and disgusting. The station they had me sit at had used tools sitting out and the towel I was supposed to rest my hands on had nail polish all over it, as if it were dirty. I left without getting my nails done. This place has a bacterial/fungal infection waiting to happen to someone. read more

I have never done a review before but this place made me so angry I have to. I came in for a gel manicure after removing acrylics a few weeks prior. The nail technician asked if I would like the manicure as well after sitting down, which I agreed when he confirmed it wasn't much extra. He continually made comments about my nails due to my embarrassing habits of biting them. This so called "manicure" included applying lotion and clipping the cuticles in addition to the gel polish. When I was finished he said the gel itself was $20 plus $17 for the manicure. Is that a joke?! I would've atleast accepted it had he done a good job on the nails. He barely brought the polish up to my cuticle and there was polish all over the edges of my nail. Two days later and the gel "manicure" is already peeling and chipping. Do not go to this place, it's a rip off. They are rude and don't do even an average job. Never going back. read more
