I got my hair trimmed recently. It was my first (and now last) time at Envy. I mostly chose this place due to the convenience of scheduling an appointment online, but the reviews were also promising. The lady who trimmed my hair did a decent job and was nice. My review, however, is for an atrocious experience I had with the owner, Brandi Wilson. My sister's first time at Envy didn't go as well as mine. Someone there attempted a balayage that... Well, let's just say she's had to spend hundreds of dollars correcting at other salons. Unsure of how the refund process works, she took me with her to speak with the manager about it. Ms. Wilson was with a client when we walked in. Awkwardly, my sister had to explain her situation while Ms. Wilson washed another lady's hair. She barely looked at us and acted like we were an annoying distraction from her work. Nevertheless, my sister kindly explained that the stylist didn't use the freehand painting technique that one uses for a proper balayage. Instead, she used foils from root to tip, all over, which resulted in chunky highlights that didn't naturally blend in. It was not a balayage in any way, shape, or form. (Picture attached.) Ms. Wilson saw that picture and didn't see anything wrong with it. She responded, first, with a lecture on what balayage is in an effort to discredit us - with misinformation, no less. She said balayage "isn't necessarily a technique" - no, it is a technique. That's literally what it is, what makes it special in the first place - the unique application. The more she talked about it, the more ignorant and patronizing she came across. She told us we have to talk to the stylist and that she could give us the stylist's number. All well and good. But then she left us standing there and continued picking apart my sister's complaint. She kept saying unhelpful, inflammatory things like, "Well if you'd talked to [the stylist] first maybe she would've fixed your hair for free." I don't know if she was in a bad mood or what, but she wanted to argue. Understandably I was irritated by this, but I stayed calm. I said we didn't want the original stylist to fix my sister's hair. Ms. Wilson acted like she had been personally attacked. She raised her voice and became visibly angry, demanding, "What do you want me to do?" I tried to say we just wanted the stylist's number but she kept talking over me. It made us very uncomfortable, so I had to tell her to chill. She seriously needed to calm down; there was no need for her to get defensive and escalate the situation. Instead, she lost it. She started yelling. She told us to leave before she called the police. She shouted, and I quote, "Exit my fricken business!" I was beyond done and going to leave, but we still needed the stylist's number for a refund. So I asked her, calmly, "Could you please give us [the stylist's] contact information?" I thought it was a reasonable request. Still enraged, she snapped, "You know what? Find it online." (We have this exchange on video, by the way.) Admittedly I did call her a name right before I left, but it was my only act of aggression in the whole mess and, frankly, she deserved it after the way she treated us. I will be doing what Ms. Wilson said and staying out of her "fricken" business for good. I'm telling everyone I know to avoid Envy as well. There are better salons in the area that are professional, friendly, and highly skilled - Tease and Ross Michaels comes to mind. Ms. Wilson needs to work on basic customer service skills because this does not bode well for any business. As the owner you represent your entire salon, your staff - even if they are independent contractors. You need to treat customers with care and respect. Don't be condescending. Don't make excuses. A little empathy goes a long way. Doing a little research on balayage wouldn't hurt, either. read more

This was my first time going to Envy Salon. Jolene did my hair and I can't say a bad thing about her. My blonde hair looks amazing and feels like butter. I wish you could feel my hair through this review. It's never felt like this! The highlights she put in look very natural which is exactly what I wanted. The color completely compliments my skin. Wow, I have just discovered my new hair stylist in Kitsap County. I probably shouldn't be posting this review because I want to keep her to myself, but I figured that I owe yelp this because of all the times that other yelp users have helped me out. Besides one of my resolutions for the year is giving credit and kudos when it is due. I booked my first appointment with Dianne New Years Eve. I figured what better way to start the new year than by pampering yourself and getting yourself a haircut. As an Asian American woman with thick and flat hair, let me say that finding a cut that looks just as good a few days after the salon as it did the day you just got it cut is like finding a needle in a haystack. As most woman nowadays who work full time, raise kids and maintain a household, whose got time to waste trying to perfect your hair every morning. "AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!" Well, it's been a few days after my haircut and it still looks fab and it doesn't take a while to get it styled. Dianne gave me detailed instructions on how to style it. Something else to note is that she actually dried my hair first before she cut it. She explained that she wanted to see how my hair naturally fell so she knew the best way to cut it. My experience was average and the price was reasonable. I got a full foil to go blonder and the blending was nice. I have thick hair and find it hard to find stylists who know how to thin it out the way I like it. My stylist did an okay job with thinning my hair. I am going to try another salon ONLY for that reason (I was satisfied with everything else). My stylist was professional and friendly. I would recommend contacting the stylist you choose beforehand to discuss what you want done. I contacted her and sent her pictures of my hair so she could see what she was working with. I often run over my appt time because of my hair. I appreciated her suggestions and letting me know the cost beforehand. The salon is averagely clean. I did notice hair/dust on the baseboards and product splatter on the walls but I understand that comes with the job. It is tastefully decorated and has "trendy" atmosphere. read more

Dianne at Envy Salon is the best stylist/colorist I've ever had work with my hair. THE BEST. I came to her 10 months ago with a specific vision in mind, and she was very clear that to achieve that look with my hair would be a process to be executed in stages. She was very clear that I'd have to be ok with warm tones. She was excellent at managing my expectations. I walk out of each appointment amazed by how great my hair looks. She cares SO MUCH about making it look THE BEST it can possibly look. She gives it love and attention and knows exactly what products to use, and why. Dianne is a TOTAL PRO and I trust her 100%. We've reached a place in our working relationship that I just trust her to do what she thinks my hair needs. Which is awesome because it's one less thing that I need to think about. REALLY?! They supposedly 'denied' my appointments because I made them online on Yelp under one name (3 appointments). Our appointments were CONFIRMED on Yelp. They sent no message on Yelp, email or phone. We just show up and got rejected in front of several customers. Totally unprofessional. Could you not have called to clarify??? By far THE worst experience I've ever had a "professional" salon. I had the pleasure of setting up my appointment with DIANNE and we communicated via text, she assured me that with over 15 years of experience that she would not disappoint. To make a long story short, she forgot my appointment time and "tried" to squeeze me in, she didn't even remember the conversation we had. According to her she "Doesn't care if I post anything on Facebook or yelp, I'm an independent contractor." ....so here's your review. TERRIBLE way to treat new customers. I asked for the manager's information and she didn't "remember it." I feel bad that the customer she already had in the chair had to experience all of this. Came into town for a wedding but had zero time to get myself together before my trip. Luckily I found myself in Diane Ramirez's chair per recommendation, and I'm glad I did! First off she was completely accommodating with her schedule, which was on such short notice. I called her at 9 am and she got me in at 1:45 pm! I had my first and LAST appointment with Dianne A. a few days ago and it was the worst experience I have ever had with a salon or hair stylist. When we talked about what I wanted I told her that I wanted soft natural blended blonde full highlights and showed her some examples and told her ABOVE ALL that I hated any red, orange, gold, yellow or brassy colors in my hair and that I did not want any of that in my hair and repeated that to her several times. I also said that I did not like thick streaks or spaghetti looking highlights and that I like it to look more natural and blended. She then went on and on about her sixteen years experience and you can see the results of that "experience". The first thing my husband said was "Wow, you really went red this time" (wow, in a bad way). To make matters worse when I emailed her about it she took NO responsibility for it and even tried to blame my hair saying sometimes it can get "warmer"...are you kidding me? In 25 years of getting highlights I have NEVER had this happen. I normally go to a master colorist at Gene Juarez but my husband has been sick to I wanted to save a little money and now in addition to the 200.00 I paid for her to mess it up now I will have to pay another 200.00 to 300.00 to have it fixed. If you are looking for a classy salon with qualified stylists in Silverdale save yourself the headache and money and avoid this one. Salon looked decent enough but no ventilation and was a screaming baby half the time I was there. It may be pricey but at Gene Juarez I KNOW that when I leave there I will look great and they will stand behind their work. read more

The other yelpers were right - Dianne Ramirez is the best! I'm the kind of person who will actively search for THE ONE review that could change my mind about a business, but all of her clients had positive things to say about her and now I can attest to her greatness. She's funny, personable, and most importantly, honest. I have ash hair goals and Dianne let me know from the initial consultation what it will take to get there. She gave me candid feedback rather than false promises (which my previous stylists fed me, unfortunately). Then, she did WERK on my hair-- four dedicated hours of it-- and while I'm not quite where I want to be, I'm pretty dang close and it looks so so good. Dianne, if you're reading this-- girl, you the real MVP! I highly recommend her to anyone. The other stylists were welcoming and the salon itself, located on the second floor, is brightly lit, clean, and beautifully decorated.
