I have searched and searched the Kitsap area for excellent professional colorist and stylist. I landed at Hollywood 2u in Silverdale based on NEXTDOOR recommendations. The first time I went there Michael and Kimberly were very pleasant and they did a decent job with my hair (cut and color). The next time I went I felt rushed and not listened to. The last time I went Kimberly was not pleasant at all. I asked her to do the same color job as last time and she left the front (headband) gray. I told her I wanted it light blond with some dark blonde lights so when the gray started growing in 2 weeks it would blend and not look like a white circle around my face. It was like she didn't hear me it all and I had to ask her to do it over. She did but she wasn't happy about it. Then Michael cut my hair and I would swear he was in his man-period. He didn't say 2 words to me and rushed through the cut like he was a million miles away. The last time I went there I showed pictures of the cut and color. I ended up looking nothing like the photos. If they thought my hair would not work in the style or color I wanted they should have said so and offered me an alternative. They didn't say anything and it felt like they just did what they wanted and ignored me. Needless to say I was even farther from what I wanted for my hair. I gave up and now its been about 8 months since I did anything to my hair. I think Michael and Kimberly are burned out so it depends on how they are feeling on the day you come in. read more

I would not recommend this place. The salon was cute, the stylists were kind but the final result was not worth the high price I paid. I initially left the salon satisfied and couldn't really tell how "crooked" my cut was since it was styled but the next day I was able to see the chopped cut with my natural straight hair. The color brassed within a week and is thicker and inconsistent in a lot of parts. I went to a different salon to get it corrected and unfortunately had to cut more hair off just to even out the bad style. read more

Being new to this area, I needed a new place to get my hair done. I went here and what a horrible experience! I would not recommend Kimberly at all! I wouldn't call that a wash as I had most of the water on my face. She never cleaned up and I had to wipe my face with the cape. The cut and style was horrible! I wish I had Michael. I watched him with his client and he was gentle with her. He blow dried her nice. KImberly burned my ears because the blow dryer was so hot. Not a good experience there. I left with my hair looking like crap. I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed. Kimberly was rushed and kept looking at the clock. She was short and not pleasant. Complete opposite of what I saw with Michael. I would not recommend this place. read more

Both Mike and Kimberly are an awesome team! They've been doing me and my mothers hair for the last few years and I moved out of state to California and I haven't found a stylist down there so I make certain schedule when I'm in town because I know they will do an excellent job. I tried going to a new place in California and they completely messed up the color on my hair and I had to wait a while to get it healthy enough to get it colored again. I have naturally wavy thick hair that it takes a really Experienced stylist to do it right And give me the look or close to the look that I'm hoping for depending on what color it is at the time that it's being changed to a new color. I had heard amazing things about this place when it came to coloring. Particularly I had heard that they did amazing with lightening for Asian hair. I am not one to ever spend money on myself and especially not on an expensive dye job. I had previously messaged them and showed a picture of the Ombre look that I wanted and asked if they felt confident doing it on asian hair. They replied back and said yes and quoted me a price. I was SO excited and scheduled this appointment. I went in and the place itself was comfortable and cute. Kim was super sweet and I was excited. She warned me that the color itself may not take as light as I wanted, which I knew but what ended up happening was not what I had expected. As she started checking in she mentioned that it didn't seem to be "taking the color" where my hair had previous color on it. Although I had already said that my hair was all natural and I hadn't dyed it for about 9 years. There was NO color in my hair at that time. The end result didn't look as if the color just didn't take to my hair, it looked like it took in certain places and not in others, and it had NO ombre effect. It really just looked like she had done highlights in my hair, it appears more that the color took where she had dyed it and that the other parts just didn't get colored. I couldn't quite tell at the shop but once I got home I realized more and more how it looked nothing like my photo that I had previously showed. There wasn't even a hint of ombre, and it just looked very streaky and patchy. Kim was very nice but I was just hugely disappointed that it wasn't at all what I had asked for. I know most of the time when they do a true ombre they dye one part, wash out and dye the next as well and she had just applied two colors at the same time. :( Michael did an AMAZING job with my hair cut though, it was just a trim but he was so easy going and nice and really did a great job. Not only that but I feel that most of the time when I leave from a hair cut I never like the way that they style it, but he styled it in a way that I would have gone out afterwards! I would definitely go back for a hair cut there because he did an absolutely amazing job. If this review was just of the cut I'd give 5 stars but because the coloring didn't look anything like I had asked for that's why I gave 2. It would have been one thing if the color just didn't take as well but it still had the overall ombre look, this was just streaks and highlights. :( Now I have to go elsewhere to pay near $200 again to have them fix my dye job. EDIT - Ended up going to Rosarios Salon in Poulsbo and used Kaley Verde and she did an AMAZING job and corrected it and gave me exactly what I originally had wanted. Kimberly did a rocking good job on my recent hair foil visit. It's hard for me to trust anyone to color my hair after working for years at Southcenter Gene Juarez and having my colorist friends do my hair- sadly they have all moved away. It took me a while to find a place that seemed to know what they were doing without the pretentious vibe and cost for their services. Which brings me to Hollywood Hair 2U. After Yelping and calling and speaking with Michael Ray I was confident in booking an appointment. Most places with give you a set cost for color- my hair being chin length- they gave me an estimate which I appreciated. I arrived early on a Saturday morning- first car in the parking lot. Now it's location is by Kinkos in a strip mall type area- however once you enter they have it beautifully decorated and your transported to swanky salon. I was immediately greeted and seated. They asked what I was looking for and I showed 2 photos of what I didn't want. She used an ipad to get an idea of what I wanted and once we talked about what I was looking for went off to make the color. It's a small but nice salon with 1 comfy shampoo chair. Kimberly was personable and easy to talk to. It had a great vibe it to. 1.5 hrs later my hair color turned out exactly as I wanted! She is amazing at what she does and I'm actually going back soon because I loved the color so much I want more. Paying was a breeze- as they had a ipad at the desk- you slide your card and can add tip and have a receipt emailed or texted to you! Love it. Highly recommend! Thanks guys for a great experience!!! No more need to travel to Seattle for haircuts or color! read more

What a lovely and talented couple! Tidy and cute hair salon. I was a bit late but Michael and Kim were cool about it. I had a little trouble finding the place but it's right next to State Farm insurance in the plaza. I got a keratin /Brazilian blow out. I had it done before about 4 years ago. I loved the result. I decided to have it done again and the experience with Michael and Kim was a lot different. The strong chemical smell and hair burning were absent from my treatment with them! So this was an excellent experience with a very pleasing result and I will go again for sure. I would highly recommend this salon! read more

This 5 Star review is for Hollywood2U Salon in Silverdale. My sister and I both got haircuts and styles today (11-30-18). I can't say enough about the salon and Michael Peters who was amazing. First of all the salon was beautiful, elegant and clean. It is a small and cozy salon so it is much more quiet and allows for a more personal experience. I love this! Michael was so friendly and attentive. His cut was amazing for myself and my sister and I was so impressed at his skill and technique. He listened to me describe my hair as I was a first time customer. My hair was almost to my waist and we cut it to about 4 inches below my shoulders. I've never had a stylist get it right the first time cutting my hair. But Michael did! I was very comfortable with him and so was my sister. I was not nervous at all even though I was a first-time client, as I could see he was skilled and confident in his ability. Believe me, if anyone should have been nervous going to a new stylist it should have been me. I've only had one haircut since 8-2014. That is because a stylist at Maxwells in Silverdale went crazy and cut all my hair off into a very very short pixie! I've also had unsatisfactory experiences at Gene Juarez and Seaport Salon in Silverdale. Not so with Michael. After leaving the salon sis and I headed out to do some shopping. Within an hour we were both complemented on our hair. His rates are very reasonable. Actually I think it would be fair to say that his rates are the best I've seen. Their customers are getting high end experience and results for a lower end price. I hope Michael and his lovely wife Kimberly keep this salon operational for a long time. This is the best salon and stylist I have gone to in more years than I can remember. If I was still coloring my hair I would not hesitate to have Kimberly do that for me. They are a fantastic team! PS...Just a short note. This salon is located on Myhre Place, NOT Myhre Road. It is a small and cozy salon which might be easily overlooked as it does not readily stand out. I enjoyed the service I received from this salon but just a little insight into what people see when they sit in the chair. Please clean the wooden slats that are behind your mirrors. Dust your black shelves holding the products and the antique items sitting on the black shelves. Sweep the hair off the floor by the front door. This may seem like not a big deal but when customers come to a salon they expect great hair cuts and colors and also a clean tidy environment. Even if you need to hire someone to come in and do a deep cleaning then just keep up on it yourselves it would be worth the effort. read more

I have never given a five star review to a salon before. I moved here ten years ago and have been unhappy with every stylist I have tried, I am not super picky, I don't have difficult hair, but the lack of skill around here is prevalent. I had been growing my hair out for a couple years and a new stylist butchered my trim. The cut was uneven and unfinished, at a high-end salon, mind you. I grew it out for a few months waiting for the universe to direct me to a new stylist. Then Yelp gave me Michael. He looked at my hair and was able to immediately assess how it should be cut. He took the time to make sure it was completely even from all angles, he styled it perfectly. Not only that, he was a pleasure to chat with. Thank you, hair gods!!! Michael does all the cuts and his wife, Kim, does all the color. I love that they are both experts in the thing they do. Not like other salons where most stylists are good at one thing (hopefully) but have to do everything else too, even though they aren't great at it. I am looking forward to Kim doing my color in the future, I think she will be good at doing a natural blonde. Will update my review in a few months when I have time to get color done. As a side, I do agree with a previous review I read after visiting the salon. While there I noticed hair stuck to the mirror and jammed between the mirror and frame. I have never seen that problem at any other salon in my life. More than a cursory sweeping of the floor between clients is not enough. read more

I am here temporarily (from Guam) looking for a house to buy on Kitsap. I emailed the day before to see if they had any appointments and Michael got right back to me informing me that, yes, there was an open time slot the next day. Turns out that they are booked solid , but they had a cancellation, so I was able to slide into that. Michael & Kimberly work extremely well together; a well oiled machine, but friendly and personable as well. Kimberly does the color and then Michael does the cut. Not pushy, not overly talkative. I felt extremely comfortable there and they both did a great job on my hair. I have curly hair and didn't want an extreme makeover, just a single color to cover the gray and a trim across the bottom. After years of looking for stylists in whom i would feel confidence, I found Hollywood2Yu. My hair is super long, i have kept it naturally highlighted for years. Since we moved to the NW, the salons I have tried (edmonds, bainbridge, port townsend) before resulted in more than two hours of time, including some discomfort; nor were the results what i wanted, as the color mix was never right, either you could not tell i had highlights at all.....the stylists were nice enough, but i knew they did not feel comfortable, and as mentioned, neither did I. Kim was amazing. She is a true, talented, colorist. her choice of colors gave just the contrast i wanted, yet is natural. she was adroit and at ease with foiling my long hair, doing it expertly and quickly. Michael was at ease also, taking off just the amount i wanted for a trim.... What a great experience. I have to mention also, i had emailed them, asking them questions, then made an appt., but had to cancel, made another one, when i got there Kim spent as much time with me talking about what i wanted...and gave me good advice. Pure Magic The salon is a smaller one but looks high end with a laid back vibe. Kim and Michael are really nice and not pushy like you can get with some other salons. I felt like it was all about me and what I wanted and that's not something I've found in a salon before! I went into the salon with a partially grown out bob that was several different lengths, my color was all over the place as I have been growing out my hair and between Kim's coloring and Michael's styling my frizzed out bob is now a sleek, slightly layered bob that isn't frizzing out on me and this is a few days after the cut/color!! Kim's color job took me from a multi-colored mess to a deep gorgeous shiny brunette and Michael is a serious magician with his scissors! I walked into the salon feeling mousy and completely frumpy, when I walked out I felt like a million bucks and my husband said my new look was super sexy!! I have long hair and am particular about who does what to my hair. I researched the salons in Silverdale and chose H2U for my color/cut. Kim did the coloring, although I was slightly concerned to begin with since I was looking for something subtle and normally don't color my hair. The end result turned out perfect, I ended up with a sun kissed look against my dark hair. After the coloring, Michael did the cut, he listened to what I wanted, then insured my hair turned out just as I requested. The pricing was very competitve and the shop is trendy. I had both a color and cut. I really loved both the cut and color immediately which never happens. The icing on the cake was that the cost of the services was actually reasonable and far less than I paid over at Gene Juarez.
