I was with this company for over 6 years. I was being charged $50 a month for monitoring, which is more expensive than ADT ($40) and Ring ($20) but I liked the app and system, so I stayed with them. Finally when they told me they had to change my main panel and that I would have to pay $300 for it, i decided to switch to Ring. That's when canceling with Epic became a nightmare. First I tried to cancel right after I got charged in November (so that I wouldn't be charged again in December) and they told me that my contract (from 6 years prior) required a 30 day cancellation notice (I notified them 23 days prior to my next bill) . So they told me that would be charged again in December and they come January 12 I would be done. I said that's fine, I paid Decembers bill and now come January 13 they have charged me again. I call to tell them about the mistake and representative tells me that in my contract there is a "60 days cancelation notice" lol, and that I'll be done come February 12. I'm disputing the charge with my credit card company and moving on. Sucks that this company works in this way. Here are the texts on November 23rd from 2 of their representatives stating that my December charge will be the final charge on my account (and somehow they couldn't get my name right after being with them for over 6 years) . This company is a complete joke. The owner Jason is not quite the Security professional. Called to schedule service and nobody answered. Called to get a quote and nobody answered. I'm hearing the same from other people with this type of alarm system. The owner seems to have his hands in his other businesses and doesn't focus on this one. Was a great company when Neil the Installer was there and has since turned to crap. I blame Jason the owner, he's all talk and a yes man with little follow through. They have no physical address and sub contract out to other companies. You're better offer calling ADT or another company on Yelp. read more

I've had truly an epic experience with Epic Alarm from the start of the process to the end. I've never really been interested in an alarm system. A few months ago my neighbor was broken into on a Friday evening at 8:30pm. Then about 5 other houses within a block got broken into within a week's time right in the middle of the day. I could literally see two of the houses broken into from my front lawn. Got way to close for comfort. I was paranoid to leave my house and suspicious of every car. After doing a lot of research I narrowed it down to a few companies. None of them got back to me. I saw Epic Alarm's sticker on the window at Orange Sushi in Fullerton so I checked them on yelp and saw all the great reviews. I sent a message to Epic via yelp and the owner Jason got back to me within an hour and was at my house that evening. Company is privately owned and it's all their own staff, no contractors. It's a small company so you get really personalized service. The visit with Jason was great. The guy is passionate about his business and since he used to be a alarm installer he knows the technical details. Not at any point did he try to pressure my wife and I into buying or try to up sell us in anyway. We were so impressed we were ready to sign up immediately but we had to play the "we'll think about it" game. After letting know what we'd be interested in he sent over a e-mail with all the options. We got a bit carried away and went from alarm to full on home automation. Alarm: This is one awesome and easy to use alarm. Very cool color touch screen panel and simple to use. Arm it to "Stay" and the motion sensors inside the house are off allowing to roam freely around the house while just the door and window sensors are on. Arm it to "Away" and the motion sensors are on. The panel is hardwired to electricity with a battery back-up and cellular connection to the surveillance center. All sensors are wireless and battery powered. We also added a fire/smoke alarm that will contact the surveillance center if it goes off. Cameras: Since 90% of our shopping these days is online we get a lot of boxes. For this reason we wanted camera for deterrent. We ended up getting three 1080p HD digital cameras to cover the entrances into our house. They're CCTV and record to a DVR. The DVR is hooked up to my router which allowed me to view it from my phone or computer where I can see a live view or access the dvr's playback. They're awesome. Alarm.com app and website interfaces with the system. It allows me to see the status of all the sensors and disarm/arm my system from anywhere. I also added smart locks, thermostat, and garage door control which allows me to do anything from lock/unlock my doors, close my garage door I left open, or control my thermostat from anywhere. I even get customized texts when my alarm is disarmed or armed, if I leave my garage open, or if somebody unlocked the door. It's very simple to use and you can get really detailed with it. My Yale Smart locks are awesome. They're digital deadbolts that are keyless. When you unlock the door it disarms the alarm. It's great for out of town guests or cleaning service. When my monthly cleaner comes I have a code that only activates during their appointment time and it texts me when they arrive. Also when I activate my alarm it makes sure all doors are locked. If I'm out of town and want a neighbor to check on my pet I can literally unlock the door and disarm the alarm from anywhere in the world. My smart thermostat is a very convenient replacement of the old thermostat. If I leave for work and forgot to turn off the heater or A/C I just do it from my iPhone! Or if it's a super hot day I can turn on the a/c before I leave work. Installation team was Neil and Fidel. They were at my house working non stop all day and did a great job. Installation was flawless and everything was explained in detail. Since this stuff is all new to me Neil was there in the following days patiently responding to my calls and e-mails. I had a few minor issues about a month after install and Neil worked around my work schedule and came out and fixed the issue. Great customer service. If you need a basic alarm or you want to go crazy like I did with home automation you can control from your phone, look no further than Epic Alarm. The artform of listening to your customers' needs and exceeding their expectations IS NOT DEAD! An EPIC EXPERIENCE is what I encountered this past week with Epic Alarm. It all started with my mid-day call into Epic to inquire about getting some low-voltage wiring concealed on my existing "DIY" Alarm. Jason took his time over the phone to explain their rates, their procedures, and very clearly outlined the plan of attack and his promise to follow-up with available dates on the same day. I thought about shopping around to get some price comparisons (and could have wasted an entire day price-shopping, taking bids, calling a bunch of people, reading every frickin' review like the one I'm writing...), but something about Jason's candid demeanor, and his casual professionalism over the phone gave me the confidence to just go for it. Before day's end, I received the call as promised and to my surprise, Jason was able to confirm a next-day ALL DAY appointment for me. He also stated he would send 2 guys instead of one to make sure the day goes more efficiently. The thought of "boy this is gonna get expensive" did cross my mind (for about a minute), but I gave the go-ahead, so at this point I just crossed my fingers and hoped they'd be as good as the Yelp reviews say. As promised, Neil and Phillip showed up promptly on time the following morning and did a walk-through of the house, and the work I wanted done. Neil and Phillip were very professional, asked if I wanted them to wear booties (shoe covers) inside the house, and promptly went to work. Neil was very patient with my requests, offered his advise on a few things, and ultimately accomodated every single request I had. After all of my ghetto-rigged wiring was fixed and concealed, they asked me to review the work they had done to ensure it was all completed to my satisfaction, offered me their business card and went on their way. Shortly after on that evening, Jason called back to follow-up on the job, making sure I received the utmost service from Neil and Philip and to make sure I was happy with the work. Talk about a class act! These guys are true professionals and take great pride in their work. Worth every penny, I would definitely consider them again in the future and I will definitely tell everyone I know about these guys. This long overdue project is finally done (in 1 day) thanks to Epic Alarm. My wife is definitely glad its over! oh, and for the record I don't work (nor am I affiliated in any way to these guys) in case you think this review is over the top... If I could give them 0 stars I would. We had a tech go out to our home to replace the front gate lock and instead he changed the batteries and tested the lock from the panel. He didn't bother to test the actual deadbolt. So needless to say the lock still doesn't work!!! I wasn't able to meet the tech at the home because we asked for a Friday appointment over a week in advance and the secretary said that she would get back to us. She never did so we had to call and were stuck with a Sat appointment when I already had another appointment I had to be at. I got to the home to find the front gate was unlocked as well as the front door. The tech was let in through the garage and asked that we lock the garage after he left. No mention of the front gate that "he fixed" or front door. I called him when I arrived and got no call back! On top of it all the prices that they charge are astronomical!!! I checked with local companies and their service changes and hourly rates are more than half of what they charge. Their monthly rate is also higher than most. Being that I am in the customer service business I know that you can't make everyone happy all the time. Totally get that! However, the owner never owned up to any of their mistakes and just continued to put it off on us. Because it was our fault that his secretary didn't call us back. It was our fault that his incompetent tech didn't try the deadbolt before he left. Perhaps if the situation had been dealt with differently and he took ownership for some of the errors I wouldn't be writing this review. DO NOT use Epic Alarm....EVER!!!! read more

Their alarm system is EPIC! I've been noticing more and more EPIC alarm signs being posted on small businesses and residential homes in the Orange County area. Since I was on the market for an alarm system, I reached out the Jason Keyz for a demonstration of the system. I was surprised how responsive, young, and good-looking he was, but it was a very nice customer service touch for him to personally contact me. He showed me some of the features and what I liked the best was the high-tech features that the system had. I really liked the wireless iPhone app that allowed me to turn on and off the AC and lighting remotely. The prices are very reasonable and I highly recommend this up and coming company! read more

Had a malfunctioning window sensor after 2 years of no issues (kept tripping the alarm when barely touched). Called into dispatch and spoke with Connie (I think that's her name) who was very helpful and got me a technician out to my place in a few hours. David the technician was on-time and excellent. He tested window/door/motion sensors, replaced batteries and even installed a smoke detector that was uninstalled from before. He explained everything clearly. The next day, another sensor malfunctioned so David was back out (thank you again Connie!). He swapped out the one he originally tested and ensured the other one was working properly. He also had a lot of information about setting up an outdoor camera system. We even tried tipping him and he wouldn't take it saying he just wants to make sure everyone gets top quality service. These people are legit and for those that had a bad experience, I'm sure it was a one-off or a bad day. I recommend giving them a second chance. read more

Poor communication is the opposite of what I would expect from an alarm monitoring company. I sent multiple emails to service@epicalarm.com that were neglected. I finally called, spoke to Jason, and he provided excuses. I gave him a second chance to setup an appointment. Again, Jason failed to call or email me back with appointment availability as he promised. I called and got excuses again. He then promised to see which installers were in the field to do work ASAP. However, he failed to get back to me. It has been about 2 weeks since my last contact with Jason and I have subsequently gone elsewhere for service. read more

Niel & Jason have been awesome! Their customer service has been right on top of things. They integrated an old alarm system & camera system into theirs and now we can see live feed from the cameras around our house, from anywhere in the world. We know when the gates are opened by the gardeners, the pool guy, or if someone shouldn't be opening them! I'm a Commercial property manager and ever since we've partnered with Epic alarm the service we have received and been able to provide to our tenants has been nothing short of "epic". From efficiency, to quality, to communication, to transparency, to an overall experience I couldn't recommend a better company. We have had alot of crappy experiences in the past with "oh it'll get fixed next week" or "oh, that's going to cost you xx" for not great equipment. Very advanced and reliable systems, great coverage, and the owner himself came out to detail what holes our old system had and how coverage could be improved. ADT never cared about us. They just threw up and out of the box system and we were hit without their alarms going off. The Epic Alarm system completely fixed that and their services and coverage are customizable. read more

I got broken into on Monday. I called ADT first since that is who my property manager suggested. They could not come same day. I remembered EPIC alarms and called them. Jason was very kind and talked me out of the panic attack I was having. I called at 9am and he said he would have Neil come out and install between 3pm and 3:30pm that same day. There was no over-selling, I wanted to get everything and he asked me very direct questions about my house and told me exactly what I needed and did not need. He also told me that when Neil got to my home and assessed, if I needed to add anything, it could be easily done. Neil did the installation. He came on time and was very organized and knowledgeable. I ended up getting an extra outdoor connect. The invoices were sent promptly via email so we could install. Every transaction was very quick and easy. Neil was equally as professional as Jason. No over-selling or pressure. Just honest and informative. Installation was perfect. They really do care about the customer's safety and doing the right thing. I really appreciated that. The customer service from both Jason and Neil from installation, to invoicing to followup has been amazing. Right now, even though I told ADT I went with someone else, I still get 2-3 calls a day from random sales people. Very annoying ADT!!!! Truly regret calling ADT and that they have my number. The EPIC alarm system itself is amazing. Very idiot proof. There are a couple of times I tried to arm it and I had a door ajar. It notifies you with color and warning messages and voice (if in the right mode) so I can cancel the mistake I am about to make and set off my own alarm. Very sleek design. Wireless. Touch screen. I love the duress code feature. I can arm and disarm from my phone or tablet or computer using their app or website. Both the app and website also are so easy to navigate and use and customize. The menus on the control panel itself are straight forward and easy to understand and use as well. My mailman left my front gate open, I got text messages to my phone notifying me when it happened. If your alarm does go off for any reason, Jason himself will be there to assess the situation. If you have any questions, Neil and Jason will answer them. That kind of customer service on top of an already high quality security system is priceless. read more

I find it hard to understand how every house or business I walk or drive by doesn't have a Protected By Epic Alarm sign or sticker on the front! I hired Neil and Epic a year ago and was so impressed that I have since added 2 addition properties for them and their crew to protect! They are up to date on all the latest knowledge and technology of their craft. I will continue to use them on any and all properties in the future. If you live in a 10k sqft house or a 1 bedroom condo, it is comforting to know someone always has your back. I used to get a service by ADT. It is just same as other alarm service provider. Now I just got alarm service by EPIC. It is awsome. It is way easier to use and more convenience. You can also arm/disarm by your smart phone and access/record all of your door activities. My pakage is $47.99 with satlelite connection. You dont need to worry about the phone line what messed your wall. They installed professionaly, and I am satisfied 120%. $.* They have more options for your convenience as like a camera and more. My last alarm system was a failure, and my business was ransacked. I had Epic Alarm install and the thieves struck again 7 months later, but were caught because the alarm system actually worked and worked well, and the camera systems are high res and you could easily make out faces in minute detail. In a word, Terrible. I used these guys for quite awhile and finally just got fed up with them. Unresponsive to quote requests for outdoor cameras (and outrageous numbers when they finally did), slow response to service requests, etc. I finally decided to switch, and sent them notification of my intent to switch on Oct. 10. My auto billing was set for end of October. Fine print in the contract requires 30 days' notice. So of course, they billed me for the 3 months going forward, for which they are not providing service. I understand they're allowed to do this, but even when I asked for a compromise to prorate it in light of the fact that they wouldn't be providing the service. "Nope, we'll keep your money, thank you very much." I own my equipment so there's really no reason for a full 30 days. There are plenty of other better services out there. Do yourself a favor and keep looking instead of using these guys. read more

This guy could sell water to a whale. Normally a phrase thought of to describe a charlatan but quite the opposite. Initially, I never contemplated using an Alarm system as when I initially met Jason, the owner, I lived in an apartment. He went over the facts, and was kept my proposed system simple, telling me not to order a few bells and whistles as they would be a waste. This is what sold me. I then transferred the service to my next home and then one last time to my final home that I now own. Even as an owner Jason has always been attentive and hard working. I recently had an Epic Alarm system installed. I am absolutely satisfied with it. Not only did they do my home they also took care of my business. Since I did my business after my home I got a month free for each account due to their referral program. I run a commercial business and security is a top priority to me so not only did they do our interactive alarm system (smartphone ready) they also managed to do our CCTV camera system and our access control system (card swipe) and created a new Master key system since they are also a Lockmith service too!!! . It was very convenient to stick with one vendor. ADT and other companies can not compare to epic alarm by far. I was a customer of Epic alarm for several years and overall I was satisfied with the service provided by their techs/management and monitoring reps. The cost at the time of install was very reasonable and their techs helped to assist in programming my system to my needs. I was also typically very happy with the monitoring app that Epic alarm provided to control my entire system (serviced through alarm.com). Recently, due to the many choices of DIY systems, I decided to move on from having a traditional alarm company. I will give credit to Epic alarm... As my needs changed and I expanded my system to include more home automated devices, Epic did try to provide me with a lower/more competitive price for their services. Ultimately I was able to find more value in moving away from Epic for my system needs. I would say for someone looking for a good company with tech savvy employees and good monitoring for a traditional alarm system setup, you wouldn't go wrong by choosing Epic Alarm. read more

Epic Alarm did a great job. They installed the same day, instructed me on how to use the system and took the time to answer my questions. I can give passwords to each individual person so I know who is in my suite. I gave my landlord a password and they forgot to tell the maintenance man the code so the alarm went off, the monitoring station informed me and the police were dispatched. It was a good test run so I know the system works perfect. I just wish my landlord could communicate better to their employees, because the maintenance man was almost arrested. read more
