To me it's very important to have a doctor who I can trust and approach without hesitation. I moved to Clayton neighbourhood over 2 years ago and picked this clinic as it's close and accepted my insurance. There was only one female doctor at that time but she left during the pandemic and I was assigned PA Jennifer later. I am greatly disappointed as how the clinic forced me to make an appointment for something that could be resolved over the phone. I had to get a preventive test ordered and kept calling them for 3 days without a response. I had a Gastro appointment through my insurance later (I did not need a referral) that month and wanted to get the tests done before that. On day 3, I called the front desk and expressed the urgency but the lady at front desk forced me to make an appointment. It turns out Jennifer could not order me the test, and wanted me to meet the GI specialist. I explained her how it was wrong of them to force me to make an appointment when I already had a GI appointment and she could've responded to my phone calls to tell me that she could not order the test. The front desk had told her as well so it seemed unethical of them to make me pay for an unwanted virtual visit. She dismissed my concerns over the virtual appointment and told me that she would let the manager know. I was hoping they will not bill me for this visit to correct their mistake. I got the bill yesterday and hence I went forward with this review. Honesty and ethics are very important to me. It was absolutely wrong to force a patient to visit, invest time and money just to make notes without actually rendering any service. I will be removing this clinic as my primary care providers and will not recommend anyone to use their services read more

I've went to this doctors office twice and the first time was amazing! I believe the first doctor I saw was Heather and she was very attentive and welcoming. She listened with any concerns I was having and more, and offered lots of advice for my medical needs going further. I was extremely happy and felt comfortable going here after this visit, especially because I am not one to go to the doctor that often. However, the last time I went in I had issues concerning my tonsils and it was not a pleasant visit. I wasn't seen until 40 minutes after my scheduled time, and as soon as I met Dr. Tomsky she was very nice but was not letting me getting any word in, and seemed to be in a rush to get me out of there. She made me feel like I was making up my symptoms and that it was just a nasal drip from a cold, even after I told her I had issues with my tonsils last year. She finally gave in to doing testing and it ended up coming back positive for a type of strep throat. A nurse called me and told me it was minor but I'm just more upset how she didn't really let me talk until I asked her if I could say something more then anything. I'll give this place one more try but I'll only be going to Heather from now on. read more

Although Dr. Kaplan has been wonderful with our family members. Recently however my brother called to ask about Covid testing and was charged a consultation fee for which he was NOT informed of ahead of time. He called with a couple questions was forwarded to Dr. Tomsky and without being informed he received and bill in the mail. My brother called thinking it was a billing error and was told well you called to ask about Covid testing so we billed you. If you are looking for a good solid doctor demand to see Dr. Kaplan, he will take care of you. However avoid Dr. Tomsky. read more

Epic Care Family Practice - Family Practice Near Me - Clayton, California

There is a serious lack of communication between this medical office and patients. I called earlier this week to get a prescription refill and was told refills were approved at noon and at 5:00 pm. I am still waiting for the refill to be approved, which did not happen. I call today to be told that I need to get approval from one of my specialists to get the prescription approved for refill. Did anyone bother to contact me to let me know? No! This is just one instance of the office staff doing something or not doing something without contacting me. Also, when I do call the office I get the sense I am bothering whoever answers the phone. read more

I have been coming to Clayton Valley Medical for over 20 years, when only Dr. Kaplan was here. Dr. Tomsky has been my family physician for the past 10 years and she is wonderful. So are the P.A.'s! Their hours are very convenient, with appointments available until 8:45pm two nights a week. Everyone is professional and polite, and when you leave a voicemail they actually call you back! I originally lived in Clayton, but Dr. Tomsky is so good we continue to see her even though we are in Martinez now. I would highly recommend Clayton Valley Medical! read more

In reply, I understand the phone situation the other day. However, it does not account for all the times I calls and emaile previously, for months. Sent numerous emails about getting a code so I could sign on for the John Muir app to see lab results still have never received a reply. We've all visited with every one of the doctors and PAs here, and they're all great. Heather is my favorite as she's very knowledgeable and personable. Hubby likes to see Dr Kaplan. Wait times are very short, if at all. They now have evening hours so I don't have to go to the Urgent Care if something comes up during the day. Front desk staff are great, too. read more

Clayton Valley Medical is awesome. I personally see Dr. Tomsky, my daughter does, as well, and my husband sees Dr. Kaplan. No complaints ever!!! They both give quality care and always go the extra mile to really listen and deeply care for their patients. We've been patients for years. The entire staff is wonderful. I've known Elizabeth, Amanda and Urlena for quite some time now. They are extremely personable, knowledgeable, and very efficient!!! They always greet you with a smile and they make you feel right at home. The PA's are great, as well. Heather is very good and helped me out when Dr. Tomsky wasn't available. My back went out. I was in tremendous pain. Heather was very knowledgeable and gave me an injection. I've never been better, even to this day! Although, I've only seen Dan once, he was great, as well. All in all, Clayton Valley Medical Group gets an A+ in my book!!! read more

Dr. Tomsky is on vacation and out of the office very frequently. I have attempted to get refills for prescriptions a few times and she is never in the office and they refuse to refill them without being seen. I've paid copays a few times already to see her and asked that these get switched to her as I changed physicians but they won't switch them since it's reported she is out of the office for the next month and they cannot do it without being seen and paying another copay yet again. So, I'm changing doctors at this point. I guess if you don't need to be seen often and can schedule around when she is in the office this might be the right doctor for you. read more

The first time I was seen for my consultative appointment/establish new patient care, Heather had to see me first before Dr Tomsky. She was amazing. She made me feel very comfortable and listened to my concerns. So I decided to make Dr. Tomsky my PCP. At my first eval with her, she seemed friendly enough but I had some concerns of her listening to me. It was want until my second evaluation with her, I felt the lack of "patient care". I should've listened to my initial instincts. The appointment was rushed, even with the MA. She made it obvious they didn't have time to care for my needs and told me if I had more than 1 concern, I need to make another appointment and walked out the room. Dr. Tomsky was less rude but she kept on calling me by the wrong name 4 times! (Geez, I hope she knew what patient I was) Everything recommended was over the counter and I had tried before coming to her and she refused to hear me and recommended the same again. So pretty much, I paid my co-pay to do the same thing I've been doing (guess what? I'm going to get the same results) and getting the same meds from over the counter. Why would I go to the doctor for over the counter meds I've been taking that didn't work? (hence that's why I went to the doctor). She said let's wait... it's been 10 days... guess I have to wait for a month of this chest congestion/headaches, dry itchy cough and another co-pay to make it worth it for them before I can maybe get some treatment. Needless to say, I'm quite upset of wasted time and money. Will be changing PCP after the holidays. Save yourself some money, Dr. Google can do just the same... read more
