It transferred me to a receptionist who said she didn't know but sent me to a billing person. When I talked to that person I explained I have Aetna but through a company called Luminear Health. I was told I should be just fine. My appointment was first thing in the morning and I was willing to take a point for missing work to get into the dermatologist. When I got there I was told they did not take my insurance. The receptionist said I'm not sure we have ever taken that insurance. I asked the cost she couldn't even tell me that. If I had not check with them Prior to missing work for this and made sure my insurance was ok I would not have the right to be mad BUT I did. I checked. If they had said we can see you at a discounted rate today but each visit offer this would be cash rate I would have done it and at least got an answer on if wha is going on is treatable but now I have to start over. I am so mad I missed work ......... Got a point for missing work ....... and still have nothing to show for it. I have called 3 times to get an office manager and get a voicemail box instead of a real person. I cannot believe this is what happens when you do the right things and check and still get hired in the ends. Frustration is not even the beginning of this feeling

My favorite thing is that I've never had issues getting appointments in a timely manner. I've always gotten appointments the same week I call. My only issue is that biopsy results take a while (2 weeks) which is more about the lab than it is Sunflower. There's an online portal but I wasn't able to log into it, nor would my results have been ready before my follow-up appointment. Fun fact: Sunflower's doctors have a non-profit called Fair and Fashionable that connects with younger adults about the dangers of skin tanning. It's really cool and modern with great messaging about skin care. In other words, it's an overall great experience and the staff really, REALLY cares about you. That's what makes Sunflower woerth coming back to.

If you drive a larger vehicle you should just head right up to floor 6/7. This is considered plaza 1 but its in building 3. The nurses were all very friendly and communicative. For starters, I recommended this change to their Yelp page, so it should reflect accurately: They are no longer in the confusing medical plazas of St. Luke's, but instead they're at 4400 Broadway Blvd, Suite 400 on the 4th floor, naturally. Don't make the same mistake I did of running late, parking in the wrong garage and high tailing it over to the right spot at the last second! This new space is crisp & clean. Sterile, if I'm honest, but that's a good thing in both the medical world and Covid times. They have all the proper precautions in place like temp. checking, distancing, masking, sanitizer available, etc. Dr. Newland herself was right on time and diagnosed my minor issue in like, two seconds. She also listened when I said I'd rather not take an oral antibiotic (my own personal reasons, focusing on building my microbiome and immunity) and prescribed something else that should work. If I get scheduled with her again I'll be glad to take the appointment, and if she's taking new patients which she appears to be, I'd recommend reaching out.
