Trainers reserve equipment they aren't using
    Jay C.

I pay $400 a month for all access membership. So that this trainer can put his towel on this machine, disappear downstairs for 10 minutes, come back upstairs, continue to not use this machine he's reserving while he's pictured there on the cable with his partner.

    It's a mess in here!!

It's 9 PM and the gym is a complete mess. There's hardly anybody working out but there are dirty towels and free weights all over the place. They are vacuuming the floors when the club is supposed to be open for another hour. I'm stepping over vacuum cables. The flat benches by the dumbbells are super wobbly. They clearly don't check these for stability or quality control until they're actually broken. So the quality of your workout isn't consistent during operating hours. You have to come during specific hours in order to actually get service and clean gym and as far as the condition of the equipment. Clearly that's an ongoing problem.

This is the business card Of the manager who treated me rudely, very aggressively, without manners.

I am a member With Equinox, I pay $340 dollars a month, I was on the mat, I was running, I received a call from my co-worker in New York, I answered the phone and the manager approached me Of this location in Beverly Hills, name: (Don Weiner), with a threatening look told me to turn off the phone immediately, I turned off the phone, I turned off the mat I was running on, and went to the Front Desk, and asked the girl who works at the Front Desk if it was a rule about not being able to take calls at Equinox gyms, And he told me yes. Then I had to stop my workout Go out of the gym, go outside and finish my work conversation just 2 minutes conversation. I don't think it's one Good rule that Equinox enforces, because if you receive a call while you are training, especially if it is for work, you cannot stop your training, you have to go outside the gym, this is Absurd. Nobody pays $340 dollars like me or if you are an executive member $400 dollars to be treated like a fish in your face, treated badly. I recommend evaluating this law Equinox very carefully It is available in all gyms, your freedom is priceless , don't get caught.

After a long break, I decided to come back and invited my friends to join me. One of them had an active membership, while the other did not. The friend who had a membership agreed to work out with us and guide us, even though she is not a professional trainer, just our friend. When I brought my other friend who was interested in becoming a member and joining me regularly, she was not allowed to enter because she had not registered online, and there was no one available on-site to assist her. This was despite the fact that she had a guest pass from me. We tried to resolve the situation on the spot, but instead of showing understanding, the receptionist -- a young Spanish-speaking woman of average height with long black hair, who appeared to be new and unfamiliar with me -- behaved very rudely. She refused to help, delayed us with the registration process, and made everything unnecessarily complicated instead of assisting my friend in becoming a member. This resulted in a very unpleasant experience for us. Moreover, the following day, I was denied access to my regular Zumba class with a different instructor, despite being a long-time member. The reason given was that the previous day we had worked out with our friend who was guiding us. I was extremely upset, and the situation escalated to the point where the police were called to make me leave the gym. This humiliating experience put me in a very uncomfortable and embarrassing position. I am deeply disappointed. If anything like this happens again, I am prepared to pursue legal action, as this situation is unacceptable and has left a very negative impression on me. If I do not receive a formal apology, they will lose three loyal clients, as well as future potential clients I was planning to bring with me.

At $40 a month or so this membership includes classes, the option for personal training sessions, showers (with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash), combination lockers, towel service, and even those Peloton bikes. Cool is a theme here. Seen as a Equinox-light version, it is located on the lower level between the 2029 and 2049 buildings adjacent from the Starbucks, Trimana, and Mickey Fine. I have enjoyed being a member, and the appeal that it is open 24/7. While this doesn't serve as my main gym, I think it is a comfy option that is far better than the poorly-ventilated David Barton's that was across the street. At the same time, this gym isn't really busy except after work and because it's membership is limited. They have state of the art equipment including those Peloton bikes, and 2 types of treadmills. Weights are minimal, but all the basics and a little more are there. It's a good small gym but the question has become whether to use a close-to-home gym or this one. It certainly will likely be nice, unless opt to pay over $200 for an Equinox membership or don't mind a place with a little drab.

Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk and membership process was consistently frustrating. On my last five visits, my check-in was blocked because the system claimed I had unsigned documents. I signed the required paperwork multiple times, yet the issue was never resolved. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like I had to explain the same problem every time I came in to work out. When I finally decided to cancel my membership, I was directed to an online cancellation process and informed that a 30-day notice applied, resulting in additional charges before the cancellation became effective. I don't mind paying for a quality gym. What I do mind is paying for an experience where recurring administrative problems are never fixed. The workouts were good; the customer service wasn't. I hope management invests as much effort into member experience as they do into the equipment.

The locker rooms are on the first floor, the men's LR is labeled, "John" & the women's is labeled, "Jane". The space is colorfully designed and has a sleek, curvature aesthetic. Even though the equipment isn't as new or exciting as other places and "it doesn't have air conditioning!" as everyone LOVES to say, nothing beats working out within Easton's beautiful brick walls, amongst vintage windows that catch a refreshing cross-breeze and dumbbells that look like they were carried by strong men in the 1940's. I worked at a few different pilates studios in Beverly Hills area before, and they all had their pros and cons. In my opinion, Oak Fitness Club is a hidden gem that definitely stands out among other facilities I've trained at for several reasons: 1. Location. The club is situated in a very safe and well-maintained area. Parking is very convenient. There's plenty of metered parking on Civic Center Drive and also a public structure adjacent to the Beverly Hills Public Library. 2. Amenities. Large and clean changing rooms, towels, showers, water cooler - it's something that you would think should be there a priori, right? Wrong. I've trained at places with no showers, no locker rooms, and extra fees for towels and water. This place got you covered. 3. Gym. It has just been renovated and I love the new calisthenics equipment that allows for all sorts of functional movements. Now I am able to take my clients to the next level of fitness by using not only free weights and machines, but also pull up bars and my favorite equipment TRX. I sometimes use cardio equipment for my clients to warm up, and I'm absolutely in love with this new cutting-edge treadmill that adjusts to your pace on the fly, no button presses necessary. 4. Pilates studio. Gorgeous large room with lots of sunlight and high ceilings. There's plenty of pilates apparatus - 8 reformers, 3 tables, 3 chairs, and also enough space for doing mat pilates and yoga. It does get busy sometimes early mornings, but the space is very well thought out to allow enough room for all clients to have their private space and move freely. 5. People/crew. The trainers and pilates instructors, who like me rent space at Oak, are respectful, courteous, and professional. Co-sharing space can be tricky, but doing it with the right people feels comfortable and safe. I also have taken plenty of HIIT classes and pilates reformer classes, and the instructors are top-notch. My favorite HIIT trainer is Annie. I always feel challenged during her classes, definitely break the sweat, and feel sore the next day. 6. Leadership. The owner Aaron is a very special person who definitely knows what he is doing and he does it very well. Aaron was able to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere in the club where people not only work out, but also make friendships, discover new opportunities for themselves, and get inspired by other people around them. This is why I love this space so much. I feel that both my clients and I are able to grow, and it's a very rewarding feeling.
