If you sign up a month or two before camp starts, you can get the early bird special deal. However, if you sign up anytime over the summer, the prices are very reasonable. It's an all day camp at 9 AM to 3 PM. My girls are currently 14 and 11 and they love having the mix of the older counselors and the little kids to hang with. There are all sorts of activities to keep the kids busy throughout the day, including different sports, arts, and crafts, water, games, etc. There is a schedule but it's not super rigid so if your kid wants to take a break and just chill they can do that. There are shady areas for the kids to go should they need to get out of the sun or if they get too hot. The camps owner is Coach Steve and I can't say enough great things about him. He has always been so kind and accommodating . I've talked with him at length multiple times either at drop off or pick up and he is a real great human being! It's obvious how much he loves his camp, staff, campers and their families. My kids come home muddy and happy.

Everything during the summer is planned around PlanetBravo The owner Danny is amazing and incredibly responsive. The camp director and camp counselors are amazing. The other campers are great, and my son has made year-round friends every summer. The tech curriculum is current and always interesting. And, the non-tech time is healthy, active and fun, so I know that my son is not sitting in front of a screen all day. I also love the daily photos from camp that we can look at with our son to talk about his day. My son comes home from camp motivated to continue to do what he did at camp. One week he worked with drones, and the drone-flying was non stop at home. Another week he worked on Python programming, and after that he couldn't stop looking for things to program. Don't even get me started on 3D printing..... Last year, my son was more upset the last day of camp then he was for the first day of school. I can't think of a better indicator of how great this camp is than that....

I was wary because her interests are mostly art and music but she really loved learning Minecraft, and interacting with the other students and staff. Very cute that they post photos and video blogs at the end of each day. Your child receives a nice thick cotton Planet Bravo t-shirt (nice advertising). Minus one star for the crappy afternoon snacks (the only provisions included with your tuition) of Capri Suns and chips. C'mon, Planet Bravo, you can definitely improve this. Also another minus- the last day (Friday) ends early for a wrap-up, awards ceremony. As a working parent, it's hard to swallow the expense of a camp when they close/wrap-up early. I felt like the students could have that hour for instruction/activity.

My youngest one just finished his 2nd year at the Santa Monica location. He is going into 7th grade and would like to do Planet Bravo for the whole summer. What is their biggest strength? Their awesome counselors. And that is what is most important. They are both able to teach the kids and able to play with them and they are silly and goofy and everything that is wonderful about being a kid and loving to learn. As a woman, I respect (admire, love) that they hire many women and have lots of young girls who go to this camp. Let's see what else do I love: They post pictures and videos each day of camp. My kid watches these, cracks up and makes me watch them with him. Even if your kid doesn't go, you should look at these (try the Santa Monica location from the year 2013). So it's not for me (the parent) that they post these videos, it's for the kids. Now I will compare it with one of those "fancier" techno camps. When my oldest son aged out of PB, he and his brother went to ID Tech Camp at UCLA. It definitely has its good points, don't get me wrong. But it doesn't compare to Planet Bravo for the age group that PB serves. I wish PB would design a camp for older kids, too. My oldest son is now studying computer science at college, (disclaimer: he worked as a PB counselor for one summer), and has a fantastic internship this summer in Seattle. I think that his love for this field (and knowing it was a good match for him) was fostered during his early years at PB.

When we walked into the West LA location, its in a nice church but EXTREMELY loud cavernous room. The gentleman checking people in had his stage voice on and was literally screaming at the parents directions on how to check in, it was intense and echoing to say the least. Once we check my daughter and her 3 friends in, they tried to find a quiet corner to play a game but the room was so incredibly intense. Probably 50 little kids all doing a hundred different things. My daughter gets overwhelmed with really intense noise although this was the first time I have ever had to pull her from a camp. Shes been to concerts, shows, traveled the world and never has she said she almost had a panic attack after camp. She said this loud gentleman and the other teachers were using microphones in a room that needed no volume amplification (im not sure he needed it even in a large room) and that there was no escape. It was completely hectic and chaotic and loud all day long. They got small breaks to leave the room but overall she said she wanted to cry all day. Her friends also came home absolutely exhausted from the noise. All of us parents were texting after drop off talking about the intensity of that check in. One of them joked about bringing the counselors some chamomile tea it was so intense. I emailed the camp to let them know about the experience and while I would have appreciated a refund I understand there are limitations. The managers response was essentially that it didnt seem like a good fit for my sensory sensitive kid. There was no acknowledgement or understanding that the camp was chaos. WARNING to other parents, there are a lot of kids, the older kids get the main parts and apparently the teachers have favorites. My daughter was hoping to build her voice at a camp like this and she told me one of the teachers called her and another kid out for not singing loud enough in an aggressive tone. They need to be taught to work with kids of all types, not just those that are loud and have worked in theater. Very disappointing experience overall, would not recommend and we have done and enjoyed just about every camp on the westside.

Every week dove deep into a specific topic, detailing a wide variety of hands-on activities that kept our chlid engaged, curious, and excited to learn. The entire process--from registration to drop-off--was easy and stress-free. The staff were patient, and truly dedicated to fostering a love of learning. I was impressed also at the safety measures and attentive to details of the organization, this must be from years of experience. The best part is also having to run into friends by surprise in the same camp during the same week. We will keep Asteme in our enrichment corridor for camps, holiday day-camps, and regular enrichment courses during the year. Thank you!
