This facility is surrounded by amazing people, and Trainer Victoria is a great example of that. During a recent emergency at the facility, Victoria remained calm, composed, and professional. She stepped up with strong leadership, effectively acting in a regional manager capacity to ensure all areas were clear and safe. She made sure personnel exited the building properly and moved to a safe location. After the all-clear was given, which she personally helped confirm, Victoria reassured members that everything was safe and took the time to personally check on everyone. I finally upgraded my membership to have the Southern California access pass and this is the 2nd gym I've started coming to. I usually go to the Beverly Hills gym but they are renovating our building (shared with Equinox) so I decided to get a membership close to home since I've been working remote since Dec 2024. I believe most Equinox gyms have a standard and this meets it. It's a bit smaller than the Beverly Hills gym but it gets the job done. They have the same amenities as the Beverly Hills gym and the staff is just as nice. Upon arrival you will always be greeted with a smile and the people at the front desk are always welcoming and helpful. I go early in the mornings but would love to go later just to try their smoothies. Parking is hassle free when I go and I haven't had any issues. I have not showered there yet since I live 5 mins away, so I can not comment on the change of soap and shampoo products people have had an issue with. Overall, I love Equinox, the people, the service, the convenience and the locations are perfect. Great gym overall. Always clean, well maintained, and has a really good atmosphere. The men's locker room is especially kept in excellent condition, and Jorge and Julio are absolutely the best. They work hard, keep everything spotless, and are always friendly and helpful. You can tell they really care about the members and take pride in what they do. I had a disturbing experience at Equinox Encino. While wearing a political t-shirt, a staff member pointed at me and seemed to provoke a group of men to follow and harass me. When I started filming for my own safety, management threw *me* out instead of addressing the harassment. No one ever reached out -- I went back on my own to speak with management, and they told me my membership might be revoked. I felt unsafe, singled out, and discriminated against for my political views. As a paying member who always respected the space, I expected better. This location failed to protect me and punished me for defending myself. Think twice before joining if you care about fairness or inclusivity. Update: a rude district manager has since called, not to hear about what happened or to offer help, but to revoke my membership. I wouldn't feel safe going back here regardless, but it was disappointing to hear that even he was perpetuating the toxicity of the situation. read more

I joined EQX literally right before the pandemic...and then, when we were in lockdown, I bought a virtual personal trainer package through them while our memberships were put on hold. But eventually, I realized I wasn't comfortable going back to a physical gym for a while in the pandemic, and they let me cancel. After trying out LA Fitness & Planet Fitness locally, I realized how great it was at EQX. It's clean and there are ADULTS that work out at this gym, and really the price here kind of weeds out the high school kids hogging the machines when I'm on a mission with my planned workout. I have only rated it 4 stars though because the spa is gone and I'm not sure if it's coming back...that would have been nice to use every so often. I'm happy there is no pool because that usually makes the locker rooms pretty gross. Love that earthbar is here, and the little retail shop. I wish there were a few more areas to hang out / plug in with my computer or something if I wanted to come in a little early before taking a class or something. The cleaning team is great and always in the locker rooms and cleaning the showers. I AM ADDICTED to the steam room. it's the best part of the day when I go in. Vinyasa Yoga Classes are...just ok. The products: grown alchemist vs kiehl's argument is not a big deal to me. The Face Moisturizer is in a few places in the locker room but you have to read the label because the bottle looks just like the body one. I wish there were some hair styling products in the locker room, at least a multi-purpose hair cream for detangling or styling. I think I saw hair spray once, but did not see any yesterday. I'm SUPER ALLERGIC to the deoderant spray, so that one is a no-go for sensitive pits lol overall, I like the place, just hope they have plans for the spa because we are paying basically the same rate as other locations that have the spa, a pool, etc. seems kind of sad. read more

Some of the trainers are annoying and rude. For their clients, they reserve 3-4 machines at once, and try to kick you off in the middle of your workouts. Top athletes use one machine at a time; why do Equinox clients need 4? Other than that, no issues. Keep in mind, this is not a "bodybuilding" gym. But the gym has a lot of diverse equipment - I've rarely seen broken equipment. People are generally polite. Sometimes there are jerkoffs filming even though its not allowed. read more

I really like how nice this gym is. Lots of equipment, really friendly fellow patrons, a huge slate of classes (I'm going to try some new kinds), and towel service! This place is unsafe for general public, their mutual respect policies are only applied if you are a member and members attack you in parking lots with 0 regard who you are just because they belong to this so-called" high class" who can afford 220$ a month membership. They harass you and humiliate you. When you escalate to management- they are dismissive. While the name and the price make public think this is a high quality place - trust me LA Fitness with 40$ a month membership has stronger and better policies and protection, they have designated security personal independent they own or lease the space to watch the activity outside. I've been an Equinxo member for over 7 years now and I've been to every club in the Los Angeles area and I have to say by far this equinox is my favorite. The staff are friendly and they keep the club clean. George in men's locker room is a gem and puts a smile on everyone face every morning. It's never overwhelmingly busy, I believe the two story layout is great. The training staff are friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be about Grown Alchemist products, I personally think Kiehls was much better but that's a company wide change so it wouldn't be fair to give this location a poor review because of it. read more

This location is very dirty. For the past month I've noticed that the hand towels and eucalyptus towels have a disgusting odor- as if they are not being washed properly. I'm not interested in paying equinox prices to be disgusted by filthy unsanitary rags that are marketed as "spa like" amenities. I raised this issue to the front desk. While I was doing so, another member overheard me and told them he has noticed the same thing, that the towels are dirty. When the issue was not resolved I asked to speak to the manager, who basically just stared at me and offered no apology. Seemed very dismissive. The issue has not been resolved and I will either be canceling my membership altogether or changing locations, which is an inconvenience. Additionally, as a female I've been made to feel uncomfortable at this gym. The demographic of this location seems to be 75% men, mostly middle aged. grown alchemist is the final push to quit , worst brand ever. Prices keep going up every year, it's like $220 or more now and the product quality keeps declining. from the shaving razors, tampons/pads, to the shower products. Every member I speak to even staff has agreed that grown alchemist is trash and lots are quitting. I switched to this location from Mid-Wilshire after I moved residences, and I could not be more disappointed. This Equinox location is small, smelly, WAY overpriced, often crowded, has very poor amenities (eg, shower products, no steam room), often has machines out of order, and while they do have decent classes the options and schedules are VERY sparse and not worth the money. But the worst part of all is their customer service, and especially their belligerent sales manager - Kris Vangelisti. Since I've ended my membership due to my dissatisfaction, Kris has been relentlessly harassing me with emails on a nearly daily basis - even though I have replied numerous times asking not to be contacted any more. My requests go completely ignored and I keep getting slammed by this individual. This is not just disregard of a former member - but total disrespect. My experience with Encino equinox, and especially Kris Vangelisti, has turned me off from ever rejoining any Equinox location down the road. I want to warn other potential customers about this terrible customer service because it is so atypical in the fitness industry. The gym itself has a good variety of classes and overall the staff are very friendly. However, for the past several months the towels have smelled like sour milk and they've had a leak in the parking garage, which has left a ton of mold on the floor the gym members are supposed to park on. While I think they have been working on the leak, there has been no action to clean up the mold and truthfully it is hard to breathe when you park on that level. read more

If I could give a zero star for this location, I would do so because of the ongoing crime that has been happening there, and Equinox is keeping it a secret from the members and guests. My car was vandalized on June 15th, 2024, around 5 p.m. My designer bag, wallet, cash, sunglasses, watch, used my credit cards and bank card for thousands of dollars and business iPhone were stolen. The thief caused significant physical damage to my car as well. When the police arrived 3 hours later, I was told that vandalism had been happening often in the parking garage and that this was the 3rd call in 3 weeks they'd received for similar incidents at this location. Later, I discovered that Equinox didn't even have cameras where I parked, and most of their garages don't. Seriously? I am paying a premium price for a luxury gym, and they choose not to have the added financial expense to enhance security measures that would protect their members. What a shame! This was and still is beyond upsetting because Equinox failed me and all the other members by not giving a warning about the ongoing incidents. This crime could have been prevented or avoided if Equinox had been transparent to their members and if there had been security patrolling the garage. I have been an equinox member for almost 10 years and been going to this location for over 5 years and have never seen a security guard in the garage patrolling. This is most definitely an unsafe environment, that could have resulted in me being severly injured or killed had I returned to my car while the thief was breaking into it. I filed an incident report with Equinox and left it with the police report number, but the management never contacted me, and I had to go back there in person to demand answers. I also went to the security office and spoke with the manager on multiple occasions. Sadly, Equinox did not even tell them about my incident, and they confused me with the person whose car got vandalized a few days before mine. Baffled! This incident has been an inconvenience with having to cancel accounts and credit cards, set up new ones, and get a new DL, freeze my credit, cancel an international trip.In addition to the thousands of dollars in losses from property theft, vandalism, and credit card fraud, this has caused me so much emotional distress and fear of being in my own home. The thief used my ID to find my home and attempted to enter my property, and they were caught on my surveillance camera. The thief used all my credit cards, which caused them to be frozen, and stole $3,670 in cash. I could not operate my business for days because they took my business phone. I had to close my personal and business accounts because I had a checkbook in my bag. This has been a nightmare! Equinox and the parking garage need to be held accountable for what happened to me and my car because they did not and are still not taking any action to ensure the safety of their members. I will not rest nor give up on this case until Equinox shows what actions they are taking to protect the people they so-called "members." All members should and must be on high alert about the ongoing crime, and security guards need to be vigiliant, visible, and patrolling the garage at all times. I'm relocating from the Bay Area. Came to check out this gym as a potential future workout-spot. The initial guy at reception was super friendly HOWEVER the cold shoulder I received from "member service representative", not ok. He offered me a "guest pass next month"!? Equinox recently changed from using Keil products to some other horrible brand. The face and body creams are thick AF and don't rub in, and the shower gel and face wash feel cheap. When I asked an employee why Equniox changed their products from Keils to this cheap brand, I was told some flimsy excuse that Keils was going out of business because Equinox dropped them. Yeah, right, haha. Equinox is trying to save money and cut costs and, therefore, is now providing cheaper products that are less quality than Keils. Disappointment....especially for how much we pay monthly. Overall, the gym is okay. It has good service and amazing classes, but it is not worth the monthly price point of $300. Once my year contract is up, I will not be renewing. read more

By far THE least maintained Equinox I've worked out at. Everytime I've worked out there there have been used towls left all over the work out area. Both my husband and I have been members here for the past 4 months. My husband used to work out alone at home and I did CrossFit for two years. Due to a few changes in our schedule, we were in the market for a new gym membership. After we took the tour, we decided to sign up here. The gym is very clean, towels are always available, the shower and the locker room area is kept clean and there is always a cleaning crew on site. The machines are all in good condition, there are plenty of treadmills but there is only one of each type of weight machine. This sometimes means you have to wait for someone to finish, especially when it is busy. The staff is always friendly and there is always somebody around if you want to ask a question. They always greet you with a smile. I really enjoyed their classes and the variety they offer. My favorite instructor for was Elle Young. Her cardio class is super fun and she will make you sweat and work hard! Parking is validated for two hours. Overall, this is a really good gym although a little pricey. We had to cancel our membership as we were moving to a new area. read more

I've been a member here 5 or 6 years now. They bump my fees every year. Again (see previous 42 reviews by me), I'm tickled pink that I can afford to pay this kind of money every month but can't get past that every year, as a reward for being a loyal customer, they jack up my rates. What if they did this cool thing every five years or so and just kept it the same for a year or two? (I guess I could have given two stars because the reality is that they jacked up my rate less this year than last.) I truly understand that the costs of running a business go up every year and that sometimes you have to pass that along. But, as a landlord, I also know that it's super easy to put the price exactly where it should be when I am bringing in new tenants... but that I show appreciation to tenants that have stuck with me and pay on time by only raising the rent when necessary. It's predatory to wait for people to get comfortable in a place then, knowing that they won't want to hassle going elsewhere, you start jacking up the price. It's like working out at a Public Storage. You still get the louts in there that think it's OK to put their Starbucks cups on equipment they are not using (why take up one station when you can use two?), people that think it's OK to track in dog shit or whatever on their shoes then lace them up on equipment handles or upholstery where people put their hands and clothing, the clueless that talk on cell phones, etc... but for the most part all the patrons are pretty cool and all the people that work there are very nice. The la fitness down the street in Encino is nicer than here with 1/10 of the cost! Seems like they have found ways to cut costs over the years and took away from the customer experience! Guess what!? Equinox just decided that they are now open and is charging every working credit card number they have on file. Check your credit card statements and see if this happened to you. They have no right to do this and you can dispute the charges but will take an hour on hold. Now charging us $30/month to hold her membership - NO ETHICS read more

I recently joined Equinox Encino and so far it has been wonderful -- a great experience! I was given a complimentary Personal Training session with Kylie, who was second to none. The environment is very comfortable and clean, and the people there are friendly and helpful. The classes are varied and challenging, with the best music. The snack/juice bar has terrific offerings, and there is a boutique with reasonably priced workout gear. I've been to the gym practically everyday since joining, and every morning I wake up looking forward to my next visit! read more

There's nothing special about this gym, definitely not worth the high price. The gym area is very small the machines are old and the people are dressed in a weird way, a lot of them are wearing pajamas or are dressed like hobos. They give you shaving razors at the locker room that's disgusting who's going to use your shaving razors. Also you can only park for two hours for free, after that you got to pay. I can sense that this is not a functional gym it's for people who signed up for a membership and forgot about it. read more

I love this equinox gym. Great friendly staff (concierge to maintenance), clean, great amenities, spacious, never too crowded with high quality trainers. As a newbie to the gym world (former hiking and bicycling junkie) what I like about this particular equinox is the patronage - nice and respectful. I feel a sense of community which is rare in Los Angeles. I like the layout. It's both intimate and yet quite spacious. The design is solid too with nice wooden embellishments. I've heard amazing bits on the classes - have yet to partake. Also have yet to try out the spa but from the looks of it, seems legit with great body workers. Good vibes all around. Special shout out to trainers: Justin, Cody and Chris. They are both present and positively motivational which is what you want in a trainer. Finally others who have written negative feedback - I don't know how much what you bring in is what you get plays here or more aptly, a sense of entitlement but that goes with any reviewer who is on the complaining side of things. I do hope that Equinox does live up to their policy should I need to cancel / switch locations but so far they've been pretty forthright and have lived up to their promises / promotions. First of all..I thought it would be very cool to join an exclusive membership gym. I was wrong. Not only are the monthly payments $180 per month, but if you book a class and miss 3 classes, they suspend your account so you are unable to register for any classes for an entire week. Not to mention, it takes a lot to cancel. There is really nothing special about this place, other than the fact that their bathrooms are glorious! The lady who cleans the bathroom was by far the nicest in the entire gym. When I was finally able to cancel I got charged a freeze fee of $30.00 and I got charged $40 for 8 days in May. This place is just a name. There is nothing special about it. Equinox is great for people whose only job is to work out. Other than that, don't buy into their marketing scheme. read more
