Convenient location, terrible lay out. Very few weight machines. I spend majority of my time doing cardio since the main floor is always mobbed mostly by people on their iphone sitting aimlessly on a machine or the dozens of trainers walking around. Cant say I have tried a class- always booked. Joined equinox to avoid having to pay a gym membership and spin classes at another studio however can't even make it into a class here. read more

Can I call this one Equinox? No... Its super small, overcrowded, quarter of the size of the real equinox, but they charge same price!!!! Not worth it! I have been a member of Equinox Williamsburg for 6 months now and I absolutely love it. Yes, it's very expensive but it's worth it if you want your time working out to be enjoyable. The equipment is all great and the changing rooms and showers are amazing. But, the best thing about it is their staff. From the minute I took my first tour with Sophie (who ultimately is the reason I signed up!) I have felt like part of the Williamsburg family. And it wasn't just that she was trying to take my money and move on - she's so warm and supportive and we've even ended up working out together. Moreover, my PT, Chase, is THE BEST. He's changed my body shape and it's such a joy training with him. Yes, the gym can be busy and yes it can be hard to get onto machines and into classes... BUT, it's balanced out by all the benefits. read more

First off the gym is nice enough but not enough equipment....classes are always taken up so I rarely get access to them....it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack when finding an available locker and some of the members here really suck Now my real issue! STAFF! The membership advisor I encountered was really rude, very pushy and passive aggressive (Adam) The front deck people are nice but completely clueless....I don't think they could find there way out of a paper bag if it came down to it. And the TRAINERS?!....I'm under the impression that the guys in the blue shirts are supposed to help you...why is it when I need help most of them seem to be lost in their own thing and come across unapproachable. There's this new guy (short and now bald) who seems nice enough when you talk to him but is ALWAYS talking to other trainers instead of actually helping. Then there's this skinny frizzy haired girl who Is always touching her hair then touching equipment (which is quite frankly unsanitary) and I don't think a force of god could peel her away from her reflection, we get it...you think you're pretty. she also doesn't seem to know much of anything when I've spoken to her. There's this really tall statured girl with colors in her hair who just seems a bit intimidating, is actually very sweet and knowledgeable though (thank god!) but smile. There's another really tall gentlemen with a fohawk who's by far the nicest guy but could stand to walk up to people a little more. Then there's this purple haired girl who I wish would put some clothes on. I'm all for self confidence and impoverishment but how are you promoting fitness when you yourself are not fit. She also has a VERY bad body odor and it's more pungent when she's not wearing much. And try to maintain a better appearance not a disheveled one. And lastly, Ally who is also the sweetest and I like talking to but when I've asked fitness questions she seems unsure. I really wish I could give a better review but I'm hoping this will help get the staff to get there act together. read more

The Emperor Has No Clothes. Why does Equinox cost more per month than Retro Fitness (around the block) costs per year, even though they have identical equipment? Also, management hides the ball when you try to cancel - I've asked repeatedly online for them to cancel my membership and they've told me to go in person, then I've gone in person (multiple times) and there's never anyone there who is authorized to cancel my membership. It's a clean and new facility. Very impressive. Staff are all very friendly and helpful! However, I had my PURSE STOLEN in locker room while I was blow drying my hair. Warning to all- watch your belongings!!! Make sure they are locked up! Devastating experience, but the staff and management were as helpful as they could be. read more

I am an Equinox junkie but have been so disappointed by this locations attitude towards customers. All of their classes that are calming or restorative are heated! Being pregnant, I can't go to heated classes. Being in a neighborhood where I know I am not the only pregnant one, I think this is extremely unkind to your clientele. I understand not being able to offer specific pregnancy classes, but for Pete's sake turn off the heat in some of the calming ones! read more

Great equipment, amazing classes and really fantastic staff, I've been going since they opened and definitely worth the prices. Tend to work out early mornings during the week so for me it's empty and plenty of staff to assist. I've taken the cycling classes and although they are not as intense as Soul Cycling, it comes close enough for me to want to keep at it. The locker room is spotless and there are always at least one or two attendants there to keep the place clean. I've Been having a bad experience especially with the girls at the front desk, you pay so much for membership! is to feel welcomed and treated well! I was there this morning and the lady girl at the front desk told me that my membership has been canceled, which I had for more than 5 years. I've been making my payments on time as she could see it in her system. The girl that was there this morning at 5:30 Am on 02/10/2020 treated me like trash and belittle me just because they cancel my membership and no manager was on-premises. She did not even engage by saying I could let you in just for today until you have this issue fixed. with so much attitude said I can't let you workout so you have to go. This is the only location where customers get treated this way, had to go to another location to correct the issue with my membership. No one should go through this, I think they all need customer experience training. read more

I joined Equinox a couple months ago- this post is well overdue. The gym is beautiful the classes are fantastic. And the staff is outstanding. As someone who was a bit hesitant to join A new gym. I was set up with a gentlemen named Adam Sheinman. He was more then helpful made me feel extremely comfortable answered every question I had. Didn't feel pushy or overbearing. I recommend this gym to anyone and everyone. And if you're looking to sign up I'd talk to Adam! I'd give more then 5 stars if yelp allowed! read more

Please believe the other reviews and don't join this gym. Before signing up I used to work out 4x a week, but since joining Equinox I have been working out 2x a week, and NOT EVEN AT EQUINOX. Despite paying a very high gym fee, I have actually been paying more money to go to barre classes elsewhere. The barre instructors are really good at equinox, but the classes fill up quickly. Most classes are completely booked approximately 10 mins after booking opens. Also, the classes are only 45 minutes. The locker rooms are insanely crowded making it near impossible for someone to actually get their clothes out of the locker without bumping into a sweaty body. And to add on to this, there is frequently a long line for the showers especially in the evening and weekends. I wound up canceling my membership and I was assured I wouldn't get charged and the next month I received a charge on my credit card which took days to resolve. read more

Other locations I see cleaning people clean the locker rooms non stop. Here they are on the phone and chatting when there are empty body lotions , no tampons no papers and hairs on the floor. I don't want to pay over $200 to come to this location. read more

Who designed this place?? For better or worse I've been an Equinox member for close to 10 years and, besides my "home" club in Union Square. I've had occasion to visit EQ gyms all over the City, as well as in DC, Miami, SF & LA. I've never seen one so poorly laid out., including those shoehorned into tight spaces in office buildings.Given how long it took them to build this space out you think they would have gotten the design right but you would be wrong. (1) To enter (and exit) you come in on Bedford Ave, go up a flight of stairs, walk all the way from one end of the gym floor to the other end (about a long city block) and then go down a flight of stairs at the very back to reach the locker rooms, then back up the stairs to the gym floor to do your workout; (2) No full-length lockers. On the positive: the gym floor is spacious and has great natural lighting. Smaal quibble: how about some hair gel dispensers in the locker room, like in most EQ's? read more

This gym really needs some good help. It's not the worst gym I've ever been to (thanks to work trips, I've seen some nasty places.) But I wish the staff was more attentive and ready to make my experience stand out. I love the Equinox brand. I love my gym time. Unfortunately, I don't love this place. I have reviewed two other equinox locations and this one is an absolute joke. Only one ab crunch machine. Only one small area to work out in on one floor. There's simply not enough space here (its very tiny) for the multitudes of Brooklynites who live in the area and need a gym to go to. I was working on a bench press and went over to the ab crunch machine and when I returned, my towel was removed and my weight set was put away apparently by one of the staff. In the shower area one of the staff rudely asked if my towel was on the floor and what the heck - my towel??? When did gym staff inquire about someone's towel being on the floor like I'm a schoolchild being reprimanded for not being tidy. read more

This is my first equinox experience, I was at NYSC before this so I can't compare it to any others.... but here are the things I can comment on. Staff: I haven't had any bad experiences with the staff. I had a really great sign up experience and when I met with the personal trainer he was really awesome and did not stalk me after as I have been at other gyms. Actual Gym: The equipment is new, and clean, which is nice. However the actual layout of the gym is horrible. There is virtually no space to do floor work and people find any available space and it's awkward when you're trying to do squats right in front of some guy on the chest press machine (just saying). It's clear they oversold the place though. It's packed and on more than one occasion there hasn't been a single piece of cardio equipment available (I promise this is not an exaggeration). The Locker Room:....... There should never be a line to shower. First of all, you'll have to hunt for an available locker and then you'll have to squeeze past 27 other ppl (back to the over selling theory). In addition, the locker rooms are SO dark....good luck putting your make-up on. The locker room is always clean, and the way the 6 (not enough) showers are designed are really nice. The Classes: I've done the class pass thing before so I'm no stranger to having to sign up for a class. I've only signed up for a few occasional morning classes and I haven't had any problems. My roommate however has had a lot of problems getting into classes. Bottom line, it's a nice clean gym - but for the price... I'll be looking elsewhere when my contract is up. read more

I have been a member of Equinox for over 15 years and was very excited to have this location open in Williamsburg where I recently moved. I have been to most of the locations in the city, to several in Miami, Los Angeles and the Bay Area/San Francisco. This location has to rank as one of the worst - if not the worst - of all the EQs I've been to. The gym is small, the layout is poor, the gym always seems understaffed, amenities, materials and finishes are cheap and not to the standard of their other gyms, and the instructors are just not at the same level as they are elsewhere (Except for Elgin McCargo). To top it all off, it is one of the most overcrowded EQs in the city. It's insulting really that Equinox for whatever reason thought they could get away with this in Williamsburg, as if the "hipsters" wouldn't notice or care? It is not worth your money to join this location. Your money is better spent joining Retro Fitness down the street, NYSC or all of the other gyms for which Equinox used to differentiate itself from. read more

The basis of my workout routine is the classes that are offered at Equinox. During the first few months that the gym was opened there was a great variety of Equinox's trademark high intensity interval training courses offered evenings during the week and on weekends. Since the new year started, this location eliminated all of its great classes including high intensity interval training and removed all fitness oriented classes on the weekends. For those of us who work 9-5 we need a good schedule to choose from on the weekend. They literally are not offering one class on Saturday's or Sunday's that I would actually want to attend. Additionally the gym is totally overcrowded. I have to book everything 24 hours in advance. There is a waitlist for all classes the day of. The steam room is always packed and you can't sit down. After that you have to wait on line for the showers because there aren't enough showers for the volume of members at this location. And just forget about lifting weights at this gym. The space for weights is minuscule and the people outnumber the equipment. read more

I felt compelled to write this review after reading these 1, 2 and 3 star cry babies. Okay, the gym is expensive, yes. Were you not aware of that when you signed up? The facilities are very clean, they use unscented detergent for all towels which I think is nice. They replace the yoga/Pilates mats after every class. The front desk people are very kind and, after a few months of being open, they seemingly have worked out the checking in for class process. They have great Kiehl's products in the bathroom. The locker room set up could be better but, since most of you complainers were not members on September 12 when the gym opened, you most likely got a tour of the gym. Yes, the gym is kind of crowded and you have to plan in advance when you want to go to class. So what? Can you really not decide 26 hours in advance if you want to take a class? And news flash, you can set reminders on the app to ping you when sign up is available. AND you can cancel up to 35 minutes before the class starts. The only limitation is that you can't sign up for two yoga classes or two Pilates classes or two barre classes (etc) in the same day. Wow what a horrible limitation! If you are a member of Equinox, chances are you joined to take the classes. If you didn't, perhaps you should join a less expensive gym and stop complaining. If you are unhappy with the class schedule, the group fitness manager's email is right on the class schedule. She is very kind and listens to what suggestions people give. If your only form of criticism is a 1 star Yelp review then she probably isn't going to add the classes that you want. But if you email her or *gasp* talk to her in person at the club (she's always there), she will listen to you. Seriously Yelp is so insane sometimes. 2.5 stars? Get over yourselves New Yorkers. read more
