While it can get a bit busy during peak hours, it has everything you need and I've never had an issue getting the machines/stations I want or working in with someone. Top brands like Rogue, Hammer Strength, Cybex. 3 Olympic weight lifting platforms, 5 squatting rack. Lot of different type of weights, dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells and other accessories. Air bike, rowers, stairmasters, treadmills, ellipticals. Turf area for functional exercises. Gym is clean, members respect the gym culture and returning the equipment on its place, good music, great vibe. Nice interior, graffiti walls, lot of mirrors. Staff cool and friendly, personal trainers are committed to clients and have good knowledge. They have all the cardio equipment and weights we needed, with extra cardio machines on the upper floor. I wanted to drop a review here after canceling my membership. First - cancellation is painless. I called up and they informed me that I had to give 30 days notice and email the owner, as part of my contract. That disappointed me since I was told the other day over the phone that they *like* 30 days notice, but it wasn't mandatory. But at least the process doesn't require you to contact the Attorney General of NY like commercial gyms. Overall, the gym is good -- 4 stars. It's a medium-sized neighborhood gym in an area without many. Additionally, there are some great additions here that don't exist in many full-service gyms, like two deadlifting platforms. I focus mostly on barbell lifts, and even though the gym has a decent selection of racks, I found myself fighting for a spot far too often. At that point, I usually would try to sub in a dumbbell lift, but the labels on the dumbbells are far too hard to read. Much of the equipment is inherited from years ago, so the original labels are worn out, and the ones written in Sharpie are nearly illegible (sometimes only written on one side of the dumbbell, for example, and in black ink on a dark metal background). As another plus, the members are very good about wiping down equipment! This is hugely beneficial because I find the gym to be in need of some cleaning. Especially the deadlifting platform in the corner, which has some dirt/chalk/grime buildup in the corner that gets kicked into the air when you take off your bumper plates (thankfully, my mask would filter that out so I wouldn't breathe it). Although this isn't topical anymore, the members were extremely good about masking during the time of COVID where it was mandated. Lastly, the members generally are very bad with putting weights back. This was the hugest factor in my cancelation. I went and tried another gym with ample plates/organized dumbbells and felt so relieved when I didn't have to go across the gym and past a maze of equipment/people just to find the plates I needed. To sum up why I canceled, it'd be from how tired I was of fighting to find plates, reading dumbbell labels, and the general cleanliness/crowding issues. That said, the owner, Miguel, is very nice and genuinely cares about the members. When people bend his barbells, he buys a new one (and those can get expensive!). When people complain, he fixes things. Honestly I feel that he'd fix these issues if I had brought them up sooner, but I reached a point where I didn't want to wait and just needed to move on. I hope he asks other members if they run into similar issues so he can fix them to improve the gym. Other staff are hit or miss - some are standoffish, some of genuinely very friendly and kind. Miguel is the most helpful and accommodating manager. When I was unsure about signing on for another year, he worked with me to make sure we could find something that worked for both of us. Everyone that works behind the desk is so friendly. I go at 6am in the mornings and the same guy that works there is always so nice and friendly first thing in the morning, I wish there were more people like tha tin the world! The vibe is definitely old school, east williamsburg vibes which I love, they recently updated some machines and weights but overall there is everything you need here. I do not have enough good things to say about this place. THIS IS THE BEST GYM I HAVE EVER BEEN A MEMBER TO!!!! They are so honest and have unbelievable integrity and understanding. The ambience is so relaxed and inviting. The staff is incredibly friendly and the gym is kept spotlessly clean. It is always such a pleasure to go to the gym and it pushes me to go even when I'm unmotivated because I love how I feel when I'm there!!! It feels like the perfect combination of motivating and comforting. Miguel is the best human and is always looking out for not only his members but also his staff. There was a major flash flood last night and they were all there mopping and sweeping and vacuuming and disinfecting until 2am so they could open this morning. I LOVE THIS GYM. So worth it. Due to the pandemic, I canceled my NYSC membership and found this local gym near my home. This gym has everything you need, whether it's body building or power lifting and everything in between. It is the definition of a raw and local gym, with Brooklyn graffiti painted across the walls to fully represent the neighborhood. All the members are courteous of one another, doing their best to keep things clean and re-racking weights. The owner Miguel is awesome and really cares about his members and his gym. Him and his whole staff makes everyone feel welcomed and it shows with the mutual respect the members have for them. I have tried all different gyms from Planet Fitness to Equinox. Independent gym in East Williamsburg that has all of the necessary exercise equipment as well as locker rooms. Workout classes are held several nights during the week. It is a very clean space with friendly staff and owner. I have been going here for a year and a half and enjoy my workouts here. This place proves that we need independent businesses over chains. The owner is beyond helpful, the payment process is clearly outlined (no hidden fees or charges and simple cancellation process). I am beyond grateful for how welcoming he and the staff is. The gym itself is well equipped with everything you need, and the multiple benches makes you never have to wait for anything. Even though there are big guys that can look intimidating at first walking around, they are extremely friendly and helpful. I see this place as more than a gym, it's a community, where people get together and strive to improve themselves. As for COVID measures, they are strict about everyone wearing a mask, signing a form (online) every time they come in, and making sure there are sanitizers available at all times.
