This was my first time experiencing acupuncture. I arrived completely disabled because of a…read moreneurological disorder that happened to me when I was 26. The nerve damage was, as I have now found out, temporary. I'm sure losing over 60 lbs and changing my lifestyle entirely helped in my recovery but I didn't start taking a true holistic approach to my care until I started seeing Lori. Now going on 3 years since since I first arrived I am better than ever and I know Lori's continuing support has been pivotal in my recovery.

My experience as a whole was not a positive one. From the type of care, to the quality of care,…read moreright down to the whole office experience. The whole atmosphere is quite noisy. It is not a place where you are able to "Zen" in any way. From hearing the practitioner speaking on her phone right outside your door whether it is closed or partially open, to hearing people enter, to hearing her send faxes, or to hearing or being bothered by her child entering your treatment room and running about the place. As far as the quality of care goes, that was subpar at best. The practitioner claims to be well-versed in Chinese medicine but when questioned about ingredients in topicals that she wanted to put on me during our first session, she had no idea about any of them on the brochure that she handed me to take home since I would not allow her to put it on me in the office without proper info. I mentioned to her ingredients that I absolutely cannot have, that were detrimental to my health and when I took the brochure home and educated myself on these ingredients this topical had ingredients that I absolutely could not have on my body. In terms of acupuncture treatment, all Lori the practitioner did each session was fill out a paper where my pains were and put the needles in the same areas each time where I had pain. Offering no insight/knowledge where other sights might be better or worse. I had to recommend where she should put a lot of needles as well from my over 20 years experience with working with experienced acupuncturists. She also came in with an iPad marking wherever she put needles and how many. Waste of time. She should have spent more time focusing on her patients, not her gadgets. Each time she would take out the needles one or two was always gone, because they do sometimes pop out and she would look at me l was hoarding them some where and I would have to educate her that they do pop out on occasion and I can't go far with needles in me. One time she came in my treatment room with a type of metal detector that looked like an antenna to try and find the needle as I was getting dressed. Absolutely, weird to say the least. As I was about to tell her to leave since she almost tripped a disabled person, she found the needle and she left my room. She is just very unprofessional and I would look elsewhere for your acupuncture needs. She does not have the proper education or the patients well-being as the forefront of her business. Eli

He really enjoys the care and explanations that Justin speaks of as he is working with him and setting the needles. He is suffering from cancer and treatments etc. I can tell it helps him a great deal, and so I am wanting to share this with anyone looking for a great acupuncturist. I am very thankful my husband found Justin and is benefiting from his wisdom and skill.

Im a disabled vet with a HOST of health issues (fibromyalgia, endometriosis, bladder and gut…read moredisorders and more...) that I've been trying for years to get under control. My health worsened this last year and I've been desperate for relief so I have been trying everything that my regular medical providers can provide. While waiting for the VA to refer me to specialists I sought out alternative medicine as I have children and want to be active/engaged and healthy for them. I found Justin/Heavenly Streams via yelp and started attending acupuncture/TCM appts a few months ago. I just want to say I am so happy I did! Justin is so awesome and figured out a lot of issues that later my nutritionist and physical therapist concur with! (Still waiting for appts with some of my kidney/gastro specialists good ol American health system ) I have tried acupuncture several times before but this experience with Justin/Heavenly Streams has been so much better/effective than any other acupuncturist (and many medical professionals/treatments) treatments I've tried before. Justin is a great listener and you can tell how much he cares about helping people and the community at large. He really understands a lot about the body, acupuncture and health conditions. Through our sessions he has been able to give me great feedback about practical ways I can get my body/health back into balance. I wanted to put a review up here to anyone on the fence about acupuncture/TCM and encourage them to give it a shot! I've had a great improvement in symptoms and have been able to live and enjoy life more fully. My conditions are chronic but these treatments have played a HUGE role in reducing them/making them less disabling and helping me get back on my feet and get back to LIVING life. Thank you again Justin/Heavenly Streams! Also there is a reduced fee community clinic that is offered on the weekends!

It seems somewhat surprising that a healthcare professional who has been in business in Chico for…read moreover 30 years has no reviews. Not sure why this is. Richard Baume has been a California licensed acupuncturist since 1981 and also states he is licensed in Japan. Initial appointment is $60 and follow-up appointments $45. Some healthcare plans cover acupuncture, typically with a copay and often requiring a recommendation by a licensed physician. Mr. Baume appears to have a practice with many patients. So same day or next day appointments may not be available. His office hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm with lunch noon to 2pm. Mr. Baume uses very small needles so any discomfort is almost none existent. He also does what seems like a pulse taking diagnosis involving the electrical or energy systems that is described as part of "traditional acupuncture." In our case, each treatment took at most 10 minutes. We went for a neuro-muscular problem at the suggestion of a friend. We found Mr. Baume to be friendly but not particularly clear about how his form of acupuncture works or how many treatments are likely to be needed. His office has a brochure on his form of acupuncture that is available without charge and there is also information he provides on yelp. After weekly treatments for several weeks, the problem seemed to improve. But since the condition was not acute or recurring it is unclear if normal exercise and care resulted in improvement or if the acupuncture was the key factor. After each treatment we did not notice any decrease in muscle discomfort or change in the muscular condition, either immediately or after several hours or days. Our friends have been going to Mr. Baume for years and it is not clear if this is because it provides temporary pain relief or some other benefit. We would suggest that each person consider this and other local practitioners and determine if after a reasonable, or affordable number of treatments the condition improves. It also might be advisable to review the evidence for acupuncture in relation to specific conditions found on reliable medical sites such as the Mayo Clinic, National Institutes of Health or WebMD.

My Primary Care Physician suggested I try sliding cupping. Sarah started off doing that, along with acupuncture and massage. At that time, I hurt so badly, I could barely stand to have her do anything to me. She has helped relieve so much of my pain. I actually enjoy what she does to me now! And, as a side benefit, she has helped me to release a lot of emotions that had built up over such a long period of pain. I have more energy!!! I can't stress that enough! My periods went from being ridiculous to OMG, I didn't think I could ever do without Advil...no more insane cramps!!! I still have more treatments to go (it's a 21 year old injury), but Sarah has given me total confidence in acupuncture. I have been to a couple acupuncturists in the past (in Tucson, AZ and San Diego, CA), but I never saw much benefit from them. I can't believe there aren't more reviews on here for Still Mountain Acupuncture, so I thought people should know about her! I can tell, Sarah has many clients that obviously love their treatment as much as I do, she is a busy girl! Grass Valley is lucky to have such a wonderful caring place to go for relief. If you have health problems of any kind, I highly recommend trying Traditional Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture. It really is effective. I'm reading a book right now called, The Complete Book of Chinese Health and Healing by Daniel Reid, which I got from the library, I highly recommend it. You'll be amazed!
