Alex has helped us when no one could even diagnose my 15 year old daughters myriad of debilitating symptoms that struck her suddenly one year ago. She remained undiagnosed after many specialists, ER visits, and even a 6-day admission at UC Davis Hospital in the Pediatric Acute Care Department. Wow! Words can not express how wonderful Alex is at what he does! I have been getting massages at Golden Wellness Center for a little over a year and a half. I clean houses for a living and quite often get to a point where I hurt myself or just physically can't work due to pain, that being said Alex has repeatedly healed me so that I could get back to work promptly. He's Amazing! Definitely not a foo foo massage, he does deep tissue massage and his methods work. Given his expertise in acupuncture and other healing modalities he has a thorough understanding of how to get to the root of a problem be it energetically or physically. Another thing that I really appreciate about his business is that I'm able to schedule online on his website, for me that is a huge convenience but if that is not your style you can also make your appointments in office or over the phone. I am sad and shocked to see the reviews posted for the Golden Wellness center after my two wonderful massage sessions with Alex. As a strong proponent for massage and non-traditional forms of healing, I received a bday Groupon from a friend for this center. I had no issues booking (their online system is very convenient) and although I was running behind on my first appointment, they still were graciously accommodating. The service: I had two deep tissue massages and it should be noted that if you're booking for a DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE, it will indeed be DEEP TISSUE. This type of massage therapy is not one of "gentle strokes" that people so often think of when they hear "massage." Regardless, I would recommend this place without hesitation. Alex combined deep tissue with acupressure and he really worked out a lot of the tension I had built up in my body. I truly consider this the best massage of my life, I left feeling not only relaxed and rejuvenated, but also as if I had worked with a physical therapist, acupuncturist, and masseuse all in one. Seriously the worse massage I've ever had and I've had plenty to compare. I had bought 2 Groupons for my boyfriend and myself. I decided to redeem mine first and despite my better judgement tried to get him scheduled for his, since I already spent the money. Thankfully for him, they never called us back to get him scheduled. Now, why I was so reluctant to get him scheduled. I went in for my massage and the male therapist (pictured), was covering for April due to a last minute emergency. I went in, told him my issues (between shoulder blades) and got ready for the massage. I don't know what he was doing but I felt like I was being pushed around that table and he was trying to rub something out of my skin with so much force that the area OUTSIDE my shoulder blades and the area under my underarm was severely bruised. While I did let him know that he was being too rough, I was counting down the minutes until it was over and was ecstatic that he left the room. I don't know how April is, she seemed nice when I meet her after...but if you are willing to try this place out....definitely avoid the male. read more

I had high hopes when I found Alex at Golden Wellness Center online. I have heavy metal toxicity and was looking for someone to help me figure out a good protocol. His website caught my eye because he helps with copper toxicity which so many practitioners don't understand. I have to say Alex was always very polite and kind. What disappointed me the most was his lack of return emails and phone calls. I ended up finding someone else to help me because I needed to have support when needed. Dealing with heavy metals isn't an easy task and it's critical to have the support needed in order to know if you need to adjust the protocol. This was several months ago and to this day I still have not gotten any response or any contact to see how I was going on the supplements. Unfortunately for me it was a waste of money and time and lots of unused supplements. If he's that busy that he can't return a phone call or email then I think it's time to hire an assistant. I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease and had read several articles that acupuncture could possibly help in reversal of the disease. After seeing a half dozen acupuncturist and getting little or no results i decided to do additional research and came across Alex's web site. I was pleasantly surprised with Alex at Golden Wellness Center. I stumbled across this place while searching online for a massage therapist for my recently re-injured back. Alex returned my call and squeezed me into his already busy day. After Alex went through my med history and symptoms, he recommended acupuncture and a acupressure style massage (which was wonderful). Alex communicates well during the procedure to ensure needle placement is effective and massage pressure is appropriate. After the visit I felt much better, and did for for the days following. I've been seeing acupuncturists on and off for 20 years and what's special about Alex is the amazing range of his skill and knowledge. I want to start off by saying I'm rating them 1 star (I can't rate a 0) for their customer service since I never got as far as a massage to rate them based on that. Back in August I purchased 2 Groupons for Golden Wellness and jumped on scheduling an appointment. I called August 20th and spoke with Alex and scheduled 2 appointments for the same day same time September 8th, 1 for me and 1 for my girlfriend. I called a day later and left a voicemail requesting April for my massage. I never received a call back and called a few more times always reaching their voicemail, so I left 1 more voicemail clarifying that if April wasn't available to keep my original appointment. On the day of our appointment we arrived 15-min early. I knocked on the door and was greeted by Alex. I told him we had an appointment at 12:30 and the first thing he says (without ever walking out of his office and hiding behind the 1/2 closed door) is "I thought you cancelled your appointment." I told him no, that I had left a couple messages about moving it but never cancelled and never received a message back either. He hid away in the office for about 5 minutes talking with April. When he returned with a pen and paper he told us they are booked for today and would we be able to reschedule. This was extremely annoying considering I tried my best to schedule this appointment and follow-up. He in the end said he could take us today but that April is booked up. He went in the back again for a couple minutes and when he returned April was with him.. Never once did we receive a sorry or even the slightest amount of compassion from these two "healers". April's demeanor was rude from the start. I told her I was upset because I made these appointments long in advance and had made many attempts to contact them and never received any communication on their part and that they had just cancelled not 1 but both of our appointments. Her reply was "We've been trying to get back to as many people as possible." She told us she'd be able to take my girlfriend but that it wouldn't be good because she was TIRED. Why would she want a half-ass massage?? When we stated that Alex told us he would do the appointments she said he was tired too. WHAT!? This is 12:30 on a Saturday and you're already tired?! This was ridiculous. I was blown away by their lack of compassion and disregard for our time. They wanted to get across how busy, tired, and precious their lives were and we should feel sorry for them. I understand that the amount of calls they've been receiving has been high due to their recent GROUPON deal but isn't that what it's there for? They obviously don't want the business. Thankfully I got my money back from Groupon and am so happy I don't have to contribute anymore time to this company. There are far better people out there willing to give good service and be decent to their customers. read more

I used my Groupon for this 60 min massage today and it was very enjoyable. I was a few minutes late, due to traffic, and Alex was very understanding. Alex is a true professional, asked questions before starting the treatment and throughout the treatment. I have to say, I have sampled many different massage businesses and this was by far one of the best I have dealt with. I agree it is hard to get them on the phone, but he did get my message (regarding the traffic mess) and didn't penalize me (shorten my timed massage) for it.
