When Dr. Roger Hess entered the room, instead of focusing on the appointment, he began offering explanations for his late arrival. I made it clear that the excuses were not my concern and that I wanted to move forward with the appointment professionally. What immediately stood out to me was that while I was addressing the situation, he was smiling and laughing, which came across as dismissive and unprofessional given the circumstances. Shortly after that, it became obvious he had not reviewed my referral and did not even know why I was there. At one point, he commented that he would need to read through the 10-page VA referral during the appointment itself, which confirmed he was completely unprepared. As both a veteran and a counselor, I understand healthcare offices can run behind at times. However, being over an hour late, unprepared, and unfamiliar with the reason for the visit is not acceptable--especially after a patient drives a significant distance for care. Overall, this was one of the most frustrating and unproductive medical appointments I have experienced.

Now I need my insurance information and provider number, which means I have to leave my desk, go the the garage, and leave my phone and the work I am doing to give them a number or a card that I can clearly bring in on the day of the appointment. So the real question is, how did you make the first appointment without my insurance card? I am an educator with a good job, so bringing the card in would be a no-brainer. After the charges were submitted to my insurance, my EOB showed that all charges were paid & that my balance was zero. When I called Andrea to request a refund of the $50 deposit, she told me that I had a balance due of $44. I asked how, when the insurance shows that everything was covered and there was zero owed by me, Andrea stated that there was one charge that the insurance did not reimburse. The EOB clearly included the service that Andrea stated was not covered as paid. When I requested that I be sent a detailed invoice regarding the charges for services, Andrea laughed at me, told me "good luck finding another dentist" and hung up on me. When I called back to find out when Andrea would be sending a detailed invoice regarding the services provided and to request that Andrea resubmit the cost that she stated was not reimbursed by insurance to the insurance company I was placed on hold for over 25 minutes before being disconnected. I called back several times only to be continually placed on hold, my calls disconnected, or the recorded voice stating to continue on hold only to be forced into voice mail and disconnected when it came time to leave a message.

I was told 300 dollars and it was due on the day of the visit. I asked if I could submit a partial payment, and pay the balance due two days later. I was told no.it was due in full. The billing policy is understandable, I am a cash customer, and got screwed out of an appointmet that I have waited 4 months for!!!!!! No one in the office was willing to work with me and had the attitude like this wasn't a big deal!!! I'm sure the client list is large enough that my money doesn't matter a whole hell of a lot, but the screw ups on their end should have been handled with much more grace and a willingness to make things right...... I hope this office rectifies their situation in customer service soon, it is a shame that a family that has worked years to build such a thriving practice would put up with this level of service......

I had another Hygienist when I first went and she was wayyyyy to rough for me. The receptionist made a note on my file and I now only see Liz. It's great how accommodating they are and that the office is advanced enough to track that and do a lot of appointment tracking via email. It also doesn't hurt that every time I go Liz always compliments my outfits!! The whole office is full of great people who make you feel like you are the only patient!!

My new dentist identified an issue with the filling through x-ray (It was defective with liquid going between the filling and the tooth). I called to see the dentist at Peak Dental to remedy the issue. The receptionist totally brushed off my concern without collecting any additional information. I'm sending a copy of my X-Rays and a note from my new dentist to the Ohio State Dental Board to ensure these folks are hold accountable for their malpractice.
