I've had a couple of things done pretty well at Ericka's, but the bad experiences far outweigh the good. On multiple garments Ive waited on repairs only to come pick them up at the scheduled time and find that they were not complete. This happened with some surgical cuffs on a jacket I needed shortened. When I dropped it off there was no mention that this was not something they could do. I wait for the alterations to be done to come back and see that the sleeve seems were open and I was told they couldn't do the work. It was something they easily could have mentioned the first time I was there. I was refunded my money on this. Most recently was a ridiculous series of going to get shoulders fixed on a sport jacket that were out of whack from the web based manufacturer. I probably went back and forth to Ericka's 6-8 times on this jacket, ordered shoulder pads as directed, and ultimately was told they could not fix the jacket, weeks later. Two other alterations tailors told me on the spot that they couldn't fix the jacket. That's all I can ask for with respect to an unfixable problem. Tell me up front so I don't waste my time and money. Ericka's did offer to split the cost of a new jacket after it had been hurried back together with thread that doesn't match. I will not waste my time here anymore. If they tell you a date your garment will be ready, add a week or two to that and be prepared to be let down. read more

Worst ever. Brought jeans on a Saturday and they said they would have ready following Thursday. Came next Saturday morning and they hadn't started on them. They told me to come back after 2pm. Came at 3pm and not ready and made excuse. Service is not their strongpoint and they don't seem to care. I recommend going elsewhere if you want quality and service. read more

True to my word, I'm happy to be here updating my review! I returned to Ericka's when they instructed and the pants were there. (Insert raised hands emoji!) Thanks to other reviews here, I took the tip and tried them both on (and inspected the hem) before leaving. Fortunately, both pants were hemmed correctly (with actual stitches as opposed to the poor girl with the cut, fraying dress). All that to say, I'm pleased with the finished work and adding two additional stars to my previous review. Still not convinced I'll go back any time soon, but happy that my initial experience was resolved. read more

I went to Ericka's Tailoring to get a handful of suits done. I dropped off my items and was told they would be ready by a certain date. Once that date arrived, I called in advance ask if my items were ready to be sure I didn't waste time and gas. The person who answered the phone confirmed they were ready. I went to go pick up my items only to find out that half the suits were done and the other half were not touched. Imagine if I didn't check and try on the suits - I would have had to come back and try to prove that these were the same suits and that would have been a nightmare because of how disorganized they are. Also I'm also glad that I didn't need these suits for anything time sensitive. As for the unfinished suits - I gave them the undone suits back and then was given a new date. On this new date I also called to ensure my items were ready and then I was told to "come pickup" Sure enough I arrive again and my items are not ready - more wasted time and gas. I also saw someone storm out angrily because of their items not being ready or them taking way to long to locate them. The work they do (if they actually do the work) is actually pretty good, but you have to double and triple check everything along with being prepared to not have your items ready on time. I tried to give them grace on the first mistake but after a bunch of mistakes and disorganization in a matter of my first 2-3 experiences (and spending $700) - I do not recommend Ericka's tailoring. I had a bridesmaid dress that needed to be altered, so I dropped it off early in the beginning of October. They said to come back on the 28th and it would be done. I went in on the 28th, and they hadn't even started on alterations. They asked if I could come at the end of the day on the 28th, so I did. I tried the dress back on and it hadn't been altered at all. They then asked if I could come the next day, which I did, and at the point, I was over the whole situation. They didn't charge me a lot for the alterations, but you get what you pay for! I always support small businesses, but this time around, this place turned out to be disappointing. I felt that they were deceitful and not transparent. I ended up having to take the dress to another alteration place. read more

Customer service is poor, managing orders is unorganized, and more. I got 2 wedding dresses altered. I was told a date the dresses would be ready for pick up. I called prior to picking them up and was told they were ready. I go to pick them up and not one dress was ready. Not only that, I left rhinestones that I paid for to be added to one dress. They lost the rhinestones and I NEVER got reimbursed. As time progressed, I ordered more rhinestones and waited for another date in which they said the dresses would be ready. unfortunately, I stopped by twice and the dresses STILL weren't done when they told me the dresses would be ready. This was the MOST frustrating part of wedding planning. Now, don't get me wrong... The alterations were good but the service was absolutely poor. I highly DO NOT recommend. Just don't do it. The owner is always full of excuses hoping that you can be a push over. I hope this review is helpful when deciding major events in your life. read more

I went there to get my bridesmaid dress tailored. I needed work on the sides and shoulders and was charged for both. I went to pick it up and tried it on and thought the fit was good enough definitely better than before at least. Then I tried it on the night before the wedding and when I sat down the shoulders slipped completely off and showed my chest. Had to get emergency tailoring done by a friend and they said it looked like no work had been done on the shoulders at all. The seamstress placed pins in the shoulders so I don't understand how you could forget to tailor them? If you go to Erika's make sure you try on the outfit at the store standing, sitting, walking etc to make sure they didn't miss anything and you end up paying for no work done! read more

If you want basic, go here. Otherwise, rethink your choice. I don't wear a suit untailored, so I frequent tailors often. I don't go to nice expensive ones, I go to hole in the wall places that do good work. Erickas reminds me of a nicer hole in the wall, with sub par work. I went back twice and tailored multiple suits, shirts and pants. The lady taking measurements isn't the kindest but that's fine, you don't need kind, you just need the job done. What frustrated me is when she told me "her opinion" after how I wanted my pants. Then I asked for the suit to be taken in at a certain area and she just said she couldn't do it. I have had a lot of suits tailored, yes it can. I've taken back my pants twice and the same issue remains. She doesn't seem to fully know the in's and outs because she needed advice from someone else on how to take in the seat of dress pants. As mentioned, if you're asking for something basic, they will get the job done and probably well. Don't take your suits here to do anything above a basic hem. Unfortunately, I have to take my items to another shop to finish the job now. Money lost, experience gained. read more

I brought them a robe my mother had made, that had some dropped hemming, to be re-hemmed, and was told by a woman who spent time showing me she had a bruised arm, that she would do the hemming herself and that my robe would be done the following evening by 5pm. I told her I would stop by between 5p & 6p between my two jobs. When I came by to pick it up, it took the staff almost 20 minutes to find my robe, and it wasn't hemmed yet. When I asked for a second time when it would be ready, I was told the following day, so I left, telling them I'd return the following afternoon. I stopped by again, the following day at 3pm. When I arrived the woman with the bruised arm who'd taken in my robe was sitting at a sewing machine sewing on a different piece of clothing, with my un-hemmed robe laying on a chair by the door, still not done. I asked her why she'd told me my robe would be ready the previous day, when it clearly hadn't been done after 2 days. She complained to me saying she'd 'shown me her bruised arm', and I told her she should have called me to let me know she wouldn't have the robe ready as she'd led me to believe. She did not apologize, acted like I was being unreasonable, and told me she would work on it after she finished the work she was currently doing. I asked for a 3rd time when my robe would be ready, and I was told the following day. I asked for a time, and was told at 10am, so I came back a 4th time at 10:30am the following day. My robe was ready, and easily found by the staff this time, but it was covered with loose thread and the sewing work looked sloppy, and it took 3 return visits. I'll not use them again. read more

They posted this on their website and on their front door before you walk-in. I bet you've been to a little mom & pop restaurant that only accepts cash.... Anyway, they hemmed 2 pairs of pants for me in 15 minutes on a Friday at lunchtime. No appointment. Just walk in, measure, pay, receive professional product. Decent price for quick service (about 12 dollars per pants). You pay first while they finish the product (they are taking their TIME to do skilled work for you). They weren't too busy the day I stopped by and I didn't need too much work done and my dress was ready to be picked up just 4 hours later. I couldn't believe it! Went to Ericka's on recommendation from 2 different people in Donelson. Turned in pants to be hemmed on a Monday, returned the next Monday and they were done. Did a good job. On same Monday I returned, I turned in a coat to have sleeves altered. The woman said it could be done on Saturday and wrote it on the ticket. I told her I couldnt because I have a gig on Saturday. She told me she'd have it done on Friday. Friday, I go in and its not ready. She shows me the tag and said "it says Saturday". I reluctantly agreed to come back. Saturday morning I rearrange my schedule to be there and when I arrive, it still hasnt been done. "Can you come back this afternoon?" No I said I have a gig at noon (as I had now told her twice). "Can you come back in an hour?" I told her I dont have an hour. Her excuse was one of her employees felt sick the day before. I took my jacket back. My husband and I went in to get a few things done: His suit pants needed tailored/take in down the legs and my dress needed to be shortened and the hem fixed. The front lady, was fast, kind and mildly hilarious. She made jokes about it being hundreds when all three things cost under $40 total. This is not the place if you want reliability and good customer service. I contacted Erika's tailoring to have a dress altered prior to a very special and important event. They told me they could have it done days in advance of when I needed it. When I got to the shop, rather than having it ready by Wednesday as they said, on the phone, they changed it to Thursday. That was still fine. The dress sat with them for a week and some change, and when I came to pick it up on Thursday not only was it not done, it wasn't even started. I asked if it could be rushed, and they told me to come back later and that they would give me a call when it's done. I hung out in the area for more than two hours waiting for that call. I ended up having to call to learn that not only did they do nothing during that time, but that they had no plans on working on the dress that night, nor the next day at all. So not Wednesday, not Thursday, not even Friday was this dress going to get done. I wasn't getting my dress done for my event, and now it's too late for any other seamstress to help me. What really blows my mind is that my alteration was simple, one that could probably take less than 20 minutes. It could have been done, but judging by the nonchalant and dismissive tone of Erika's interactions with me, she just didn't care. Simply put, this place can't be trusted with a deadline. I'm going to start out with the fact that they did a beautiful job on the zipper that they replaced for me, but the overall customer interaction could have been better. I showed up and their granddaughter was throwing a temper tantrum and running in between and all around the customers. It was quite unprofessional. They only accept cash or check. I didn't realize that and had to then leave and go to the bank. It's 2018. Time to accept cards. He then could not do the math to give me the correct change. I just find this unacceptable. I needed a bridesmaids dress hemmed and taken in at the chest just a little. They told me to pick it up in a week and charged me $160 in cash or check only up front (wtf?). I actually came back a day later than expected to give them more time if needed. Where I went wrong is not trying it on before I left. The bottom of the dress was not hemmed- IT WAS CUT. My first grade students could have done a better job cutting in a straight line. The top was taken in WAY too much and we ended up using seam rippers to allow breathing room. By the time I caught it, it was too late. Wow. When the work is actually complete it looks ok. Not ONE TIME in multiple visits has stuff been ready on time and have returns multiple times for corrections. Promised but NEVER ready. They have left me in a bind more times than once. This time was my last. When it takes LITERALLY 6 trips for 3 Mens dress shirts there is a problem. Dropped off, picked up, returned for correction as half the work was not complete but TWICE they were randomly closed, promised on Friday at 12:00. Saturday at 2:00 haven't even started. The service is simply uncalled for and the worst I've ever experienced. Do NOT use this place unless you have plenty of time and wasted gas to spare. This was the worst experience of my life! This was my daughters first prom and cotillion. We came needing two dress altered. When we brought the dresses in we waited at least 40 minutes to be served. We were told that her dress would be ready on the 15th however, when we showed up on the 16th neither dress was ready. Nobody called to let us know that the dresses were not ready or the day we could pick up the dress. However, when I asked her why is her dress not ready she explained that she had to get the other prom dresses out that was the weekend of the 16th. I could have been okay with that if someone would have called and told me that before I drove all the way to hermitage. We still needed to get shoes and jewelry which is why I brought her the dress a week before prom. I asked her will this be ready by this date and she told me yes. But did not call to let me know she could not hold up to her part. This left me and my daughter buying shoes and jewelry without her dress hoping that we are getting the right thing. When we picked the dress up THE DAY BEFORE the prom is when it was ready. NO discount was offered and nothing was said. She also stuffed both of our dresses in one bag and handed the bag to us. It was the worst experience of my life and I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Did same day service for a tuxedo shirt and when I tried it on, she said she didn't like the way it looked when I tucked it in. So, free of charge, she re-did the factory stitching that the shirt came with and it looked great! I took my wedding dress here knowing the alterations were going to be expensive. First off when you walk in they expect payment upfront. No debit or credit. Only cash or check. The lady marked up the dress for a hem and put the pins in it for the bustle. After all this they quoted me. I told the lady it was a lot. Not too much just a lot. I felt awful but I told them had to get another quote (this was the first place I checked). When the lady went to iron out the marks she put on my dress the owner/seamstress (I assume) told me a story how another girl came in and left and when she came back she charged her more. I asked her if she's saying she won't do the alterations and she said not for that price and that she may be too busy. She threatened me for leaving! She said I wouldn't find another place to do the alterations for the same price. I fully intended on going back but it was the first place I checked. Now there is no way in hell I would ever go back there. I'll pay 2x the amount before I go back to a place like that. read more

This place would have gotten 5 stars, except... I took 3 pairs of pants in to them to be taken in 3 weeks before I needed to have them. They had me try on one pair for markings and said that was fine for the others and 3 weeks was plenty of time. The Monday before I needed them (which was the coming Saturday), I called to make sure things were on schedule. The lady asked me if I wanted them to go ahead and *start* on them, and then said I needed to come in to fit the other pairs. I went in and they measured again and assured me the work would be completed by Saturday. So, I get a call on Saturday morning asking if I needed to have them that day. After reminding them that I brought them in 3 weeks before and told them several times I needed them on Saturday because I was going out of town, the lady told me they would be ready that afternoon. I went back to pick them up and paid with a credit card, which was met with the comment "I would prefer cash but if all you brought is a card, that is what we'll take." Considering that I spent $175 at their business, I would have expected better communication. The work they did was superb(!!!), and I couldn't be happier with how the pants turned out, they just could have handled things a little better. I will be searching for a different place before giving my business to them again. Perhaps it would have been different if I'd come in an hour before closing and told them I needed the work done in two hours... read more
