Erik did amazing job remodeling our sons nursery. They removed the popcorn ceiling, rebuilt the closet, changed the door to a window, removed carpet and refinished the floors and painted...it turned out way better than I imagined. We were so happy we also had him as his team update our kitchen. What a transformation!! See before photos Both projects ended on budget and earlier than expected. We can't wait to use him on our next big projects. His attention to detail, communication and craftsmanship is exceptional. read more

I highly recommend Erik and team! They've done both big and small jobs for us and we're always very happy with their work. Our most recent project was a patio cover/cabana that Erik and crew were able to complete in weeks (in time for a large baby shower) after the architect and city took 10 months to approve plans. Erik is extremely knowledgeable (especially when dealing with the Burbank) and goes out of his way to ensure his customers are satisfied (often times correcting issues the architect missed and/or working with inspectors on creative solutions). read more

We highly recommend Erik Quiel for any remodeling and/or new construction you may need! He built our home before we purchased it, and the level of quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail is second to none. The quality of life living in this house day-to-day is incredible, and the number of compliments we get is off the charts too. It's clear he and his team take pride in his projects and don't cut corners. We are so impressed with the home, and others' reviews of his past work, that we engaged him to oversee adding in a new pool as well, a significant undertaking. He did not disappoint! Erik was personally on site every single day, often multiple times a day, ensuring that everything was progressing timely and according to plan. We had a specific vision and would regularly discuss the details as everything came to fruition. As milestones would be completed, the next step was nearing, and/or the inevitable hiccup would arise Erik offered his thoughts and expertise on what he thought may be best, and if something may look odd or so, allowing for details to be confirmed or tweaked to avoid any potential issues for either of us. His input on these discussions were invaluable and made for an even better finished product. He gave a detailed quote and he delivered on our vision perfectly and on budget. The one time something wasn't done the way we wanted he had already caught the mistake and the ripping out the tile for a redo was already underway. My father worked in remodeling for 30+ years, and I've never seen a contractor so involved and invested in projects. He was constantly in communication and wanted to make sure that we were happy. I truly can not recommend Erik enough. Definitely engage him in your next project. He's the contractor you want! read more

This review is based solely off a phone call with Erik. No services were provided. I went to replace my bathroom hardware and realized I got hardware that required a different method than the last one. I called Erik and he provided me with solid guidance on best path to take (and advised that if I continued down my current path, it would be a serious time and money situation). He was polite and clearly explained things, and took the time to listen to me and understand the situation. I will definitely keep him in mind when I need home improvement services, which will probably be in the very near future. read more

Most people can say they dread construction on their homes and having to deal with remodeling. I can honestly say hiring Erik was a great decision when we were looking for contractors. He came highly recommended and after meeting with a few before him we knew right away he was our guy. He was upfront, honest and had really great design ideas. All of his subcontractors were fantastic. Everything was smooth from start to finish and I could not have been more happy. Top notch. read more

I had a small project, replace a gas stovetop in a granite countertop. Most people I talked to would not even take the job. He was great to work with and did everything necessary to get the new stovetop to fit. He'll be the first person I call the next time I have a project of any size. read more

Erik oversaw the construction of our hillside Pool and Deck and did a great job. Erik stood by us as we went through a difficult permit approval process. He came up with creative solutions to make the most our project. This was a big job that included drilling and filling ten caissons for support, some of which were 40 feet deep. We are ecstatic over the final job. read more

Erik has worked with us a few times over the years most recently leading a front entryway remodel which included building a custom doorjamb and installing a new front wood door. A few months after the project was completed we had a break-in at the house. The doorjamb was so strong and door expertly installed they never got inside. We are forever grateful and would highly recommend Erik for any job! read more

We needed some small help around the house (fixing doors that did not close), but didn't know who to call. I had seen his truck from running around Burbank and I gave him a shot. He called me back the same day and also did the job the same day. Erik responded promptly, did a great job and had very reasonable prices. He was a nice guy to boot! Oh yeah - he's also a LICENSED CONTRACTOR! We're looking forward to using him again on our kitchen cabinets. Thanks Erik! read more

Erik helped us out after a leak destroyed our kitchen floor... He came over on short notice, gave us a reasonable quote and within a few days everything was even better than before. His crew did a great job laying the tile and he made sure all the leaks were fixed and helped out with a few minor fixes and improvements along the way. As the other reviewers mentioned, he's a licensed contractor, very friendly, his prices are reasonable, and most importantly he gets the job done right. Good contractors are very hard to find... glad I stumbled upon Erik on Yelp and will definitely work with him again in the future. read more

We picked Erik to repair some old caulking based on the other reviews here. He was prompt, worked quickly, and the results look very professional. His prices were reasonable. He seems knowledgable about construction, and even fixed a couple of shower door issues at no extra charge. We'll definitely be calling him back in the future. read more

Erik just fixed two areas of dry wall on our ceiling. He was able to give us a quote from a picture I emailed, and then stopped by to ensure the best repair option on one of the areas (since it didn't read too well in a photo). He gave us a quote on a Friday and fixed the ceiling the next week. He and his guy did a great job. They were on time and thorough. There was one area that needed to be adjusted due to our own personal visual preference (nothing they did wrong) and he had his guy come right away and fix it, no questions. I think this says a lot about his business - that he was willing to return and finish the job, even when we said we could make the minor adjustment on our own. Such a relief to find a good contractor after hearing so many horror stories. We will definitely use Erik again in the future. read more

Erik and his crew was very helpful in fixing my closet. He responded quickly to my inquiry, was able to quote me a price, and was able to be at my house 2 days later. If you've done any significant work in your home, odds are you've probably had a less than positive experience. I was warned that the world of construction is a shark fest and sadly have learned that to be true. Of the array of work I've had done, and the people I have dealt with, Erik Quiel stands out head and shoulders above the rest with his straight forward, HONEST and practical approach. Don't expect frills and a** kissing, this guy calls it like it is so there are NO surprises! He'll downright tell you off if you're not grasping the reality of your project. But that's fine with me. I would MUCH rather have someone tell me up front if my expectations are out of line, than have someone happily take on a job only to spring it on me later that there are MORE costs involved. I had a tricky job done and he was SWIFT! Brought his engineer / team / clean-up - all done within days, exactly as he had promised. Not only that, there was a small hiccup a few weeks later and Erik was 100% honorable and within 24 hours had made things right, no harm done! I would recommend Erik 100% to anyone I know personally and feel absolutely confident that any sort of 'taking advantage of customers' is simply not in his vernacular. Plain and simple, Erik gets the job done - on time - for what he quoted - and it's a great job!! All thumbs up. :) read more

I called around to other contractors who were over priced, and had a difficult time understanding that I had a budget to work with. Erik jumped in and took on the project. Although he was busy, he knew that it was important to me and my family- and that this remodel was going to get their house on the market for them to retire. It went from a mini facelift to a remodel. What I love about Erik is that you get honest feedback in real-time, he provides multiple solutions at different price points and allows you to make the best one in consideration of your own budget. As much as he says he's not good at picking out interior design stuff, he actually has a great eye for it. He knows how to make rooms functional and what homeowners today want out of their homes. I highly recommend working with Erik Quiel. read more

Erik Quiel Home Improvement - New Exterior facelift by Erik Quiel. - General Contractors Near Me - Burbank, California

I was in need of a handyman close to Sunland. I was in Burbank and saw Erik's truck, I gave him a call and he was at my house the next day. I need the caulking removed and reapplied around my bathtub and outside of my tub. I also need a ceramic soap dish installed into the bathtub wall. He did a great job! It was very clean and neat, he cleaned up the mess from the previous person who worked on the tub. Erik was very friendly and has great prices. I would definitely use his services again. 5 STARS for Erik Quiel Home Improvement! Erik was referred through a mutual friend. I was highly selective in looking for general contractors due to the work we wanted completed and in the time frame we wanted the work to be completed. Erik agreed to make the long trip down to Carlsbad and completed our addition in 3 months! The work included removing our foundation, plumbing, electrical, the remodel of the guest and master bathrooms, a walk in closet, an addition of a master bedroom, all new windows on the back of our house with new stucco, hardwood floors throughout the entire house. This list doesn't even include all the extra details that go into finishing our home. Erik has also been available for all calls and returned answers within a timely manner. He has also said to make sure I call him if I thought something was not done right or if I did not like something...so far I haven't made a call to him and I expect that I won't. Thanks again Erik Quiel Home Improvement!! We love our home!! read more

I highly recommend Erik Quiel Home Improvement. Erik does great work and is reliable. He did an amazing job rebuilding our outdoor decks at our previous house in Burbank and can do add ons to houses as well. He helped advise us on building an addition to our home. I called Erik about getting some drywall patched and painted on a Friday. Monday morning he came by to look at the drywall and also had him look at some cracked grout in the kitchen. Erik handles the maintenance and repairs for a house we're renting in Hollywood and he's fantastic! Quick, responsive, and genuinely cares about maintaining our property. Erik and his crew are consummate professionals and conduct business in a direct and fair manner. I'm a stickler, a nice way of saying I'm a perfectionist. I'm not apologizing. In Los Angeles (my hometown) we invented abundance. And there's an abundance of everything here. Good and bad - Lakers and Clippers which, lately, have switched on the roster. But I digress. It's become a rarity to find competent people, let alone people who answer their phone, make same-day appointments, show up and on time. Unheard of. Right? Not so with Erik. Everything just enumerated applies. He also seems like a genuinely nice guy. read more

My wife Barbara and I recently purchased a house in Burbank and after contacting a different contractor who kept us waiting on nothing for two weeks, we met Erik and our life changed ! We had a major problem with the ceiling and then we discovered a problem with our electrical wires that were still.........as old as me ! all of the above while we were under pressure to leave the place we were living in. Erik has been able to tackle the problems, align a team of professional who perfectly fitted into a schedule and we immediately saw progress in the repairs which have been implemented on time, with quality and under the meticulous supervision of Erik himself. I'd call out two specific characteristics which are making Erik Quiel a top notch contractor: 1) Client Management: this is extremely important when you are under stress and you don't know if your home will be ready. Erik kept us informed, gave us daily calls or text to tell us what was going on and was always there when we needed; having a stress free project truly made the difference and this doesn't happen often with other contractors. 2) Passion for his job: Erik is passionate about what he is doing and he will translate this into a quality work. it is not just about "fixing something", it is about doing the right work for the right price for the best results. We trust Erik and I'm sure he would be the only guy we would call whatever improvement or project we would entertain in the future. We highly recommend Erik Quiel and his company if you want to have a stress free/high quality job done in your house ! read more

Great worker! Super fast and a job well done! Definitely hiring again for future projects!

I needed a new bathroom door and the first thing I did was to buy one at lowes and fix it my self. I figured I didn't have the time, proper equipment, and experience. So I asked Lowes to fix it for me. They brought one of their guys over and he recommended to take the whole door frame out and to buy a door with a frame. He even said it would be more complicated to customize the door I just bought to make the right fit for the original door frame. They were going to charge me $250 just for the labor. Total rip off. That's when I found Erik through yelp and gave him a call since he had great reviews. Erik gave me a really great deal. Erik is fast, efficient, professional and reliable. He customized my door to fit, place new hinges, and clean after himself in under 1/2 and hour. I'd recommend him for any home improvement. I'd also plan on going to him for any home improvement in the future. read more

I hired Erik Quiel H.I. to handle the final phase of a house project (which began with a need for a house-repipe) to handle painting, drywall and construction tasks in my townhouse. They do very good work and now that i have been living with the changes for a month as i write this (after putting my furniture back in the affected rooms), I have to say I really, really like the results - read on for the details. My place initially needed a repipe, but also had to have acoustic-ceiling popcorn removed, so after the repipe & ceiling removal, I was basically left with stripped-to-the-drywall walls and ceilings, which would require skimcoat and paint finishes. I also decided that since there was so much work I'd need done, I might as well go all-in, so I also took down some wallpaper as well as having electrical work done, prior to having painting, drywall fixes and having a contractor install a non-load-bearing wall in my living room. The scope of this project was now at the level where it would absolutely require a contractor to complete the project. I had Erik out to the house, and we did a walkthrough of all the pieces of the job, and he prepared an itemized estimate, which was pretty competitive vs. others, but I liked what I saw on his site and he's very local, so I went with him. Due to scheduling on both our sides (he's usually quite booked, plus I had to be on-site for the job) we ended up breaking the job into two phases, and they knocked out the first part over about a 5 workday period. As I had hideous 1970's wood paneling, his guys took care of demoing that first (they made quick work of it). He had his skimcoat and drywall guys work on my ceilings and walls (from skimcoat, to patching, to texturing, etc), and then his waller came in and framed out the living room wall (which included adding a pocket door). Erik and I also coordinated on colors - I wanted something simple/light, so we went with Swiss Coffee, after a rundown of options he provided. Once the wall was framed, drywalling was done on both that wall, plus my kitchen soffit boxing (which had been demo'd by my electrician when tore out a florescent drop-ceiling and installed recessed lighting cans). Painting and texturing followed (the whole thing took maybe 3 workdays or so, followed by maybe an additional day of tweaks (e.g. we were waiting on a fabricated railing triangle/mount, to secure my railing to the new wall on the stair-side), bringing total workdays to maybe 10 or so over about a two week or so period. The actual final costs came in pretty close to the estimate, given that I really didn't make too many changes - the main changes were that I took advantage of having the guys in here anyway, to do the kitchen soffit finish work (not in the original estimate, but got a good price so I added it on) and a couple of things like replacing my closet door (which couldn't be salvaged after panel stripping) plus a custom-fabricated railing anchor for the new wall. I was impressed with Erik and the crew's ability to quickly assess how to work around any issues they encountered, and come up with solutions to challenges in short order - watching them work, i had a lot of confidence they know what they're doing. So what was my opinion of the design and work? I am positively DELIGHTED the work that Erik & crew did to my place. It changed the whole 'character' of my place, and brought it up to date, very likely being accretive to my home's value. Erik and crew (and I would like to particularly compliment Vidal, who worked on all phases of the job and is very versatile) delivered exactly what I envisioned. In addition, I noted that the wall in the living room has solved the problem of my hot/cold air from my vent tumbling down my stairs, and instead keeps it in my living room & dining room area, which had made a significant difference in my utilities bills since. No hesitation to recommend Erik's company, and I would absolutely use them in the future for any renovation/remodel/contractor needs. read more

I had a small job to install two security cameras to the exterior of my house. He came over initially to review and provided me with a quote. Though his was not as low as another contractor, I picked him because he seemed more thorough and knowledgeable. Erik was able to mount the cameras easily and wire them to existing junction boxes within several hours. I definitely will hire him again for other home projects. The only issue is that he is very busy, which makes it difficult to schedule. However, I believe with his work ethic and commitment to quality, it is worth it. read more

Erik is the only person we will call when something needs to be repaired, updated, or replaced. We first used him when we discovered an undisclosed plumbing issue in the home we just purchased. Erik quickly assessed the situation (a recently installed shower with no shower pan - unbelievable), and within a few days had repaired the shower and the ceiling below it, which had heavy water damage. It's 2 years later and we've had no issues with the work, and the ceiling looks like nothing ever happened. Next we hired Erik to replace some exterior windows that were leaking, and paint the trim around the whole house. His bid to paint the trim was far less than another company we had called. It's now 9 months later, and everything still looks great. Most recently, Erik and his team redid our tile floors. A hugely messy job involving ripping out existing ceramic tile and replacing with a wood plank tile. Erik not only did a great job bringing samples to help us decide what we wanted, but he and his crew went above and beyond to protect the rest of the house from the dust and mess. He also was able to level certain parts of the floor that suffered from settling; lastly he and his crew cleaned the downstairs AND moved all the furniture back so when we returned home, all we had to do was enjoy our beautiful new floors. His bids for all 3 jobs were less expensive than other companies we called, AND were more thorough in making sure they fixed everything that needed to be addressed, not just the surface issues. We trust Erik and his team 100% - highly recommend! read more

Erik took 3 Pinterest pictures and transformed my 80 year-old Burbank kitchen into a masterpiece! He was on time, under budget, and every single sub was courteous and thorough. His professional connections allowed us to get higher end appliances and countertops than we had anticipated Best of all, his advice and vision helped to inform and create a kitchen better than I had imagined! Not only would I recommend him, I have several times over and everyone who steps into my house asks for his information. He was truly a master of his trade, and never left us hanging. I don't know how this contractor got 5 stars from other reviewers. My experience was very negative. I called to make an appointment to review my project. He said that he couldn't come for a month because of other work that he was doing. I said that's fine, I'm not in a hurry. I had to e-mail him again to see if we could meet to discuss my project. He called and said that he could be right over. He started the conversation with complaining about the parking. He walked through the project and told me that he would send a proposal. After a few days, I e-mailed him to ask if he would be providing a proposal. No response. I e-mailed him about 2 weeks later and again asked if he would be providing a proposal. Nothing. I'm glad if he has so much work that he can turn down work. I found him rude and unprofessional. I am proceeding with my project with another contractor who is responsive, pleasant to deal with and very professional. Stay away from this contractor. read more
