My family started work with Extreme Home Addition and Art Vartanian back in 2018 on a large 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom addition to our house, and three years on we are absolutely delighted with the quality, communication and attention we received. Art put us in touch with a great designer, George Mendez, who drew up our plan ready for submission to the city, and when permits were approved, we started construction in 2020. The workers were respectful, helpful, punctual and their work was excellent in quality. We were so impressed with what a single team could do: foundations, flooring, roofing, electrics, HVAC, painting, tiling and plumbing. The prices that were quoted were extremely reasonable, and the work was done on time and with a minimum of fuss. On the rare occasions that we needed some flexibility with payments, Art was accommodating and understanding. Most of all, we were absolutely delighted with the communication we had with Art, who bent over backwards to accommodate all the changes-of-mind we had during construction. The team really worked hard to create as little disruption as possible, and our 3 year old child became good friends with the workers. I can't say enough about this contractor. Art and his team are outstanding. They are so fast, the work quickly and immediately and they are honest and trustworthy. Art gave a straight price from the beginning and kept his word. His crews were working first thing in the morning until late every day getting the job done. He did a two month bathroom remodel in 4 weeks and it's stunning. On top of that, during these difficult times we've had to call him for urgent services like electrical work, plumbing and he has someone at our house right away. It's helped us deal with the situation of being forced to stay at home during quarantine and avoiding losing power or electricity. With all the delays with house remodels due to the lack of supplies and contractors we had to be very selective with who gave our bathroom remodel to. After doing a lot of due diligence we decided to go with Extreme Home Addition. If there's two words to describe Art it would be "straight shooter". we were looking to complete a second story addition above our garage and turn our recreation room into an ADU for my parents. we were very lucky to find Art and his team; Art and his team did a wonderful job, added the framing into our existing recreation room, changed the walls and added the bedroom, took care of the plumbing electrical and HVAC and did all the tile installation and the kitchen. I was impressed to see the project went so effortlessly. I have heard that materials are hard to find during these post pandemic times, but our project was completed without any distributions. I also loved how accessible Art was, when we emailed him, he always got back to us within hours and he and his team were great personalities to work with. one other thing about this team that impressed us was their tidiness. I have a beautiful and crazy little hillside cottage in the Silverlake hills. My home was originally built in 1902... now I don't think our bathroom was 112 years old but it sure looked liked it. We HATED our main bathroom and we swore to remodel it the moment we bought the house. We got several bids on it, they ranged from $14K up to $30K. I found Art and Extreme Home Addition here on Yelp and gave him a call. He showed up like a day later and spent a good long time talking to me about my options, his ideas, my style, my budget, timeline. He was SO cool about everything and about $5K cheaper than anyone else with great reviews. He even loved up on my dogs a little which was awesome (yay, dog people!). We got started 10 days later and it was an amazing experience. His guys were efficient, Art was almost always around to discuss things with, I texted him a couple of times with crazy new ideas about stuff and he was always enthusiastic about it. Our renovation project has just finished, and I highly recommend Art and Extreme Home Addition. Art is a very upbeat, positive person and a pleasure to work with. He has a great crew of talented, patient and kind people. They all feel like part of the family. We bought a 1910 craftsman style home and changed almost everything about the inside, including adding bathrooms, completely redoing the kitchen and doing extensive electrical work. His team's expertise ranged from understanding what structural changes were required for load bearing capacity to advising on placing new elements, such as a range hood, to keep within the character of the historic home. I was probably the hardest client Art has worked with in terms of my extensive requests and wanting everything just so. I asked a lot of Art and he delivered! Whether it is behind the walls or all of the trim, the quality of his team's work is terrific. We selected Art partially based on his better pricing compared to other quotes. Because it was my first big renovation job, I was unclear as to who typically pays for various things. Next time, I'll lay it out so I can budget properly. Despite the cost overruns, I think we still came out better than most of our other quotes. Also, at times I misunderstood Art's "Sure we can do that!" type of response to mean he could do it and include it in his budget. I do not believe these are faults of Arts, only my naiveté. Art ended up spending more time and money on our project than he originally thought he would, yet he and his crew continued their high quality work until everything was completed. My husband and I are more planner/detail focused type people. While the craftsmanship of the work is also very detail oriented, Art's personality is not as detail focused. Art thinks more big picture, as reflected in the work order, progress reports, and responses to my numerous emails. While we worked well together, there were a few misunderstandings we had to work through. The result is a great finished product. I interviewed 8 contractors before I chose Art and Extreme Home Addition. I'm very picky and a bit of a perfectionist and I also wanted a fair quote, along with a company that knew what they were doing. From the get go, Art was competent, extremely nice and he totally got us! My husband's and my taste are a bit bold, and Art understood what we were after as soon as we explained it. I knew we would be in good hands. The quote was totally fair and we were pleased that it stayed the same throughout the job. We turned two bedrooms into one large office, so we needed a wall knocked down then re-enforced with a header, a window removed and a door put in it's place, and we also knocked a hole in the kitchen wall to the living room for a pass-through bar top seating area. I told Art I wanted something snazzy for a counter top. Purple, red, silver... something eye catching. He said he would find the perfect piece for me. I was happy to hear it, but I didn't think there was any way he would find anything to satisfy my taste. I'm particular with what I like and it has to wow me. I was absolutely wowed when Art sent me a picture of a purple and white counter top with silver grain and sparkles! It was the find of the century! Santos, Eddie and Marcos did a great job keeping things clean, picked up and under control every day and always seemed happy to be at work. I work from home and they were always careful to keep the area I was in accessible and livable. The work was done in a timely manner and they didn't take longer than expected. Last year, while debating as to the complete replacement of my kitchen cabinets or refacing them, I came across these guys. From a financial standpoint, the pricing was working out great and they gave me a few references which gave them two thumbs up. I had them reface my old wood cabinets to an antique sage finish. Once they began the work, I asked if they can replace a few of the tiles in the kitchen which were cracked as well as putting up a new tile back splash. I could tell right from the initial consultation we were in good hands. He gave us honest opinions about reconfiguring the layout, what would work and what wouldn't work. Listened to what our needs were and despite a small kitchen size with a funky layout, he came up with a kitchen design that was exactly what we were hoping for and looked great. I had a limited window of time to get a garage renovation & small project in my living room done this summer. After meeting with a few contractors, I chose Extreme Home Addition because Art seemed confident and knowledgeable, his quote was around the same as others I had gotten the previous year when I tried to do it but ran out of time, and he could start the following week. Unlike other contractors, he didn't mind starting even though I didn't have the doors and windows ordered. Art's crew is professional, courteous, and extremely fast while not cutting corners. Art estimated 3-4 weeks, which I thought was a bit much since all the other contractors, and in my own calculations, came up with 10-12 days. But he likes to have a cushion and not come in late. My only issue was scheduling. While some folks can hand over the keys to a contractor and let them come and go as they please, I needed to be there to let them in. I have a dog, so I couldn't leave not knowing what days and times they needed to get inside the house, and which days were strictly garage work. Coordinating quotes and orders from windows/door and flooring contractors (the parts he felt should be handled by specialists and I agreed) was difficult because I didn't have a schedule of what was being done each day. His crew was moving super fast, and I didn't want to disrupt their flow. He gave me great referrals for specialists, but I couldn't plan anything in advance. At the end of each workday, the crew couldn't tell me if or when they'd be in the next day. They told me they didn't receive their call times or location until later in the evening. Art always said they'd work around whenever my orders came in, but I was worried if I didn't get things quickly, I'd have to wait a long time to get the crew back to finish up the stucco work. I also wanted to know how many days I had to shop around prices while still having things on time for them. Overall, it was incredibly stressful and I was on edge every day because I am someone who needs a realistic and accurate schedule. However, the work was flawless, they rolled with any difficulties they encountered, and the end result exceeded my expectations. They finished two weeks ahead of schedule (minus the stucco work because the window installers weren't available at the time the crew finished.) If you're someone who gets up at 6am every day, doesn't need to be there, and has no variables like dogs, these are the guys for you. If you don't mind not knowing when someone will be there every day, then certainly hire these guys! The crew does not disappoint. Their work is impeccable, they can problem-solve anything, working around any obstacle they encounter, and if you are able to see them on the job, you'll witness their masterful teamwork in everything they create. read more

I decided to give them a call. I was greeted by Art. He was professional & made me feel comfortable right away. We scheduled a free in home consultation. We felt even more comfortable after meeting with him. Once we told him what we had in mind, he immediately threw out ideas & what made sense. He didn't try to upsell us. He gave us options & helped us to narrow down to meet our budget. Since that first appt, he has been very responsive to all our inquiries via texts & emails. & I can be a pain! He even stopped by to look at the plan again when we weren't sure. We can't wait until the work gets started & completed. We'll follow up w a review of the actual work. If he & his crew can be as details & meticulous as the pre-work process, I think the finished job will be fabulous.
