I turned another year older and realized I needed a change. I wanted to be a better person - for myself, my husband, and my child. So, I went in search for some help. Erika is a great teacher and has the quality of putting people at ease, making them feel calm and comfortable. The One-Heart Vision program is a way for large groups of people to learn the concepts that she explains in her counseling sessions and yoga classes. She gave a talk on One-Heart Vision a few weeks ago at the Austin Recovery Center. I thought the program was initially designed to help prison inmates and addicts self-heal. Then as I listened more, I learned that One-Heart Vision is really about the power of being in the present, and how living in the past, or being worried about the future only leads to suffering. This concept is for everyone. Erika says presence is the first step, or step zero, to experiencing lasting joy. To make a change, you first have to get out of the past and into the moment. I don't normally do reviews but someone else's review is how I found Erika and I've had such an incredible experience that I wanted to be sure to share with others. Erika's techniques have been like no other counseling techniques I've encountered. Her yoga, breathing, and bodywork techniques create such an amazing sense of calm and relaxation that it's worth going for anyone who holds onto stress in their body/mind. I love massages but the state of relaxation I achieve from the bodywork es deeper than anything I've gotten from a massage! In our conversations, she doesn't make me feel like she's preaching from a textbook but rather she takes an approach that is practical and easily applied to any problems I'm encountering. I had the pleasure of attending one of Erika's seminars a few months back. It was a class intended for overworked or overstressed professionals that have never tried meditation. I actually attended the class as a favor to friend. I went in with the stereotypical pre conceived notion of hearing a bunch of ohhmmms. After a short introduction and group discussion Erika had us do some group meditation. I left feeling completely relaxed and with a completely new admiration for meditation. Months later I still make a 10-15 minute meditation session a part of my morning routine. It has helped to energize me for the rest of the day. I use to relay on at least 2 cups of joe to get me moving in the morning. I now only drink a single cup and it's not because I need it, but more out of habit. I'm very careful where I spend my time outside of being with my son, but when a friend told me about Erika's Yoga Psychology series, I was hooked (in a good way) and signed up. Fortunately I was not disappointed in the least bit. In fact, her classes became a kind of sanctuary away from the noise of my every day existence, a forum where "like minds" could openly discuss and divulge our wonderings on the inner workings of our own minds and lives. And as I LOVE to try new things (especially new mind-body healing therapies), I went and had a session. I felt the relaxation from having massage, the stimulation of reflexology, the colorful tingling of reiki, all swirled in the juiciness of creative visualization and meditation. What a combo! Erika's intuitive, sensitive nature makes for a memorable session. I could feel the energy pulsing through my chakras as insights popped into consciousness and stagnation began to move. I was looking for something more than just venting my frustrations and having an outsider tell me what I should be doing with my life. I will lead this off by saying that I am unbelievably pleased with my experience with Erika and her methods. I wish I had done this sooner. Erika along with her cornerstone mindfulness program is truly the exact answer I was needing. Through interaction and meditation her program teaches you to connect to yourself on a deeper level than most all of us have ever done before. Erika counsels and consults you to find the answer to your questions from within, and she serves as a guide to assist you through the journey. She is unbiased and is an unbelievable listener and gives you the tools to heal and move on with your life in a positive manner that focuses on the pillars of Conscious Compassion, embodying what it is to be the best human being you are capable of being. I was a believer when I found out her program has an ending. She is not in this to drag you on for years and years as is the case in traditional therapy. Wow glad everyone else got the help they needed. Note! don't mention alcohol if you want to see Erika. Seems like it scared her off. I'm leaving a five star review because she was nice and professional but I have business and marriage problems! She won't even talk to me cause I mentioned alcohol as one of the contributors to my problems. (It's a small part of a major problem) My wife and i's issues are so much deeper than that but I was not even given a chance to talk Erika. So ya she seems nice but not very dedicated to helping all humans. Mabey cause I'm a man? I don't know. What I do know is she tried to pass me on and that's not what I want. I have been to a handful of counselors, therapists and even one life coach over the last 15 years and I have never had a therapeutic experience quite like this. What I think is different about Erika is that she offers more than just your traditional talk it through method. Erika has a gentle approach and if you're up for it, will use guided meditation and breathing techniques to help you to go inside to find the answers yourself. As the over thinker type, this style of therapy was extremely effective for me because it allowed me to quiet my mind and tune into real feelings, something I don't think I was able to do with other therapists. My counselor is Erika Marcoux. She is hands down AMAZING. Over the past three months she's taught me how to breath and meditate. I've been learning how to get out of my head and access my true self. It may sound hokey but it feels really good. I've been to counselors and psychologists in the past and the experience has never been great. I would just talk and talk and they could never help me.
