I cannot say enough good things about Ali at Ali Computer Repair. He's not just a repair tech -- he's a genuine lifesaver. I came in with a Dell laptop that was overheating, lagging, and throwing out error codes like it was trying to speak in Morse. I was worried the thing was about to die on me for good. Ali diagnosed the problem fast -- it was a shot CPU fan and clogged vents (which, yikes, were definitely long overdue for a cleaning). Not only did he replace the fan and apply new thermal paste to both the CPU and GPU, but he did it all SUPER AFFORDABLE! This is the second time I've used Ali, and coincidentally, for the same issue. No fault of his. Just me thinking I'm a computer genius. I screwed something up trying to update my MacBook and managed to wipe my entire computer. I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I asked for him to fix the drive, and upgrade anything as necessary. He thoroughly explained what he was going to look at and provided a solution to fix the issues. My gaming laptop was encountering blue screens with various errors. When I took it to him, it was a short drive but it was left on although I turned it off before I left. It was hot when it was bought in so there is a chance it was a brick when he received it. He worked on it and the initial text I got said the he reinstalled the graphics drive and he wasn't encountering anymore errors. When I was going to pick the laptop up, he said he experienced a blue screen crash so he needed to look into it. I picked it up later and he told me I needed to reinstall Windows but the laptop was in worse shape since it wouldn't even let me turn it on now without receiving a blue screen. He told me it could also be a hard drive or ram Issue. I got charged $20 for this. I can't blame him for not being able to fix an unrepairable laptop. What I can blame him for is incorrectly diagnosing the problem and not being aware gaming laptops should be handled differently than normal laptops. I took it to someone in Dallas. They called me the same day and told me the graphics card had overheated so much, there was a scar on it. Ironic because the laptop is called an ROG Strix Scar. They also told me the person who previously worked on it added thermals to liquid metal cooling which he couldn't understand. Like I said, my issue isn't the fact the laptop no longer works. It is the fact he couldn't identify the issue with a Scar on the graphics card and he added thermals to liquid metal cooling. Also, the RAM and the Hard drive were fine. If he is not familiar with gaming laptops, it should have been stated and I could have took it somewhere else. I can't say for sure he is the reason my laptop no longer works but I can say his attempts to fix it without knowledge on gaming laptops shouldn't have been made either. read more

Returned my laptop with damage. When approached he lost his tempter. He couldn't fix the problem but that's ok it was sorted out. In happy about the aggressive nature when confronted about the damage. I work on computer, build them, program, tinker and I just thought giving to him would be a nice break. Unfortunately his reviews lead me to now know it's mostly screens and troubleshooting. But regardless of the skill level. He dropped of my computer by pulling up to my home hold my laptop out the car door and showing me a tool he used that left the hole in the computer. He admired it but didn't exactly get a new back plate. He just has a bad attitude unless your praising him for a normal troubleshooting issue. Oh and I have to make a jab but he told me he couldn't find the hard drive. It was an nvme low profile. Trust him with screens and your printers but not complex issues he doesn't have the training. He calls google a first had resource. I'd say a skilll set in troubleshooting followed by google would be good but what do I know. I just build the computers, tablets, and refurb the things he claims to fix. read more

It was supposed to be an easy swap but I messed up installation somehow. Ali helped me earlier today with a WiFi connection issue I was having with my gaming laptop. Having your WiFi connection drop repeatedly and unexpectedly is very frustrating and he took the time to try to troubleshoot it over the phone. After those attempts did not fix my issues, he recommended ordering a new WiFi card and gave me a quote for the part and the part + him installing it. Both were very affordable for someone on a teacher's salary. He got it in the next day and texted me to let me know it was there and he was available to help. I don't think I spent more than 30 minutes there and it seems like the issue has been resolved! He even took the time to clean out the inside of my computer which I found very thoughtful.
