I have been a slip holder at Harbor Place Marina for about a decade…read moreIt wasn't the cheapest I could find but it was the closest to my house so the convenience factor offset the cost will never use Harbour place again 1-inaccurate invoicing. On Invoice # 1956WI I was billed for 5 gallons of antifreeze. I didn't authorize any winterization of the water system or head. I performed that myself. Initial thought was maybe the 5 gallons was poured atop the fluid I had already placed. and not being confrontational by nature I paid the invoice. Upon accessing the vessel in the spring of 2024 I found 5 gallons of RV antifreeze sitting in the aft cabin. could these be the 5 gallons I was invoiced for at $21.99 each? which I can get from walmart or amazon for less than $4.00 each. A 500% markup on a fluid never requested seems excessive. also tag placed on trailer by marina staff indicates no head or water system winterization was performed 2-"summerization" Marine personnel tried to upsell me "summarization" services. which included flushing water system of antifreeze , hooking up batteries, and providing and installing drain plug. My response was I can run faucets myself to flush the water system and other items were already included when placing the vessel into the slip by Harbour Place. Why would I pay for those items again? 3-inoperative tilt motor. marina personnel informed me that the tilt motor wasn't functioning and the outdrive was stuck in down position. I agree. the vessel is older and the Motor had been getting weaker, so It finally totally failing wasn't a surprise. What WAS a surprise is that I was informed of this issue after the boat was moved several times ( from lift to storage, can't say if it was moved to wrap it, and then from storage location to shop.) On its own trailer. Finally, I was informed that as a result of the failed tilt motor I would either have to get the motor replaced ( quoted at over $800 dollars) or pay additional fees to have the boat "carefully" moved from the shop to the lift point to avoid dragging/damaging the skag. Were all the other moves before now not careful? Boat was moved at least twice before ( lift to storage and storage to shop) no mention was ever made of the drive stuck tilt down. Finally was told there was an issue and it would be additional charges? 4-ship to shore cable Ever since we have had a vessel that uses a ship to shore cable, I have left that cable plugged in so batteries have the highest charge when marina personnel need to start the boat to navigate from the slip to the hoist point. Boat has a trickle charger that maintains Battery charge when supplied with shore power. Every previous season Harbor Place staff unplug the cable at both ends and throw the cable onto the vessels deck behind the cockpit. Not stowed below. just thrown on deck. OK, fine with me. This season when I first accessed the vessel the Ship to shore cable was no where to be found. It was not on the vessel's deck nor below . unsure if cable was left at dock and stolen by a third party, or if it was misplaced by staff, or something else, we will never know. Whatever the cause, the result is I now have to buy a new ship to shore cable. In addition, no longer offering onsite trailer storage to slip holder over the summer was an issue Haul out and put in HAD ALWAYS been performed by Harbor Place at no additional charge. I had presumed that put in and haul out were included with the slip rental. (which is why I figured there were less expensive slip rentals in the area) In all the years I had been at Harbor Place I was never invoiced or charged for put in or haul out. Call began cordially but when staff learned I had made other arrangements for wrapping and winter storage, tone seemed to change and I was informed haul out wasn't included in slip rental and I would have to pay for the service. When I questioned why those services had always been performed before at no additional charge previously and I was under the impression that those services were included in the slip rental I was told to "read the contract" I did. Yes the contact does not explicitly state haul out and put in are included with slip rental. But it also doesn't explicitly exclude those services either . Since Harbor Place performed those services at no additional charge since we became slip holders at the Marina, in my opinion, this established a standard of care and level of anticipated services a reasonable person would come to expect based on past history. I'm not a lawyer, only a dumb structural engineer licensed in 13 States, so I can't say if the contract language is airtight on this issue, but it is a moot point as we have made other arrangements going forward

If you're not white, Bryce is not your place for boat service or repair. They do respect minorities…read moreand will bench your job to put others ahead of your boat. So if you are white then Bryce is a fine "impeccable" establishment. I'm sure that they'll get your boat worked on right away. If you are brown you get slow rolled and delayed. I dropped mine off just to have the impeller replaced and live well pumps replaced. The problem Renee listed, "Won't start" which it did, it just needed a new impeller. That was back in May 2025. To her credit, Renee said it would be about 3 weeks before they could get to it. I figured okay it's not drive worthy, so why not. By the magic of time travel, those three weeks turned into 6 weeks with no call back. Then comes August so g'bye May, June and July. I get a call saying it won't start and the ESM was bad and they no longer manufact this module that must control the impeller I asked to be replaced +$$. Guys says that'll take about a week to get new one in. G'bye August. "Oh well they don't make those anymore so we can send it off to be repaired" G'Bye September. I get a call in September saying it was ready but obtw, the battery bank charger won't charge the batteries (which was never the problem. (Minn Kota4 bank onboard charger less than 3 years old), "for another $450 to $500 I could go ahead and replace that for ya". It's a Bass boat so it's a essential piece of hardware. So then I'm quoted a final cost for work of $3500. Special Price for an impeller=cooling pump for a boat motor. It's made like thick rubber or silicone spokes like youd see on one of those paddle boats you'd see on the Mississippi Delta. Sucks in the water from above the propeller. An impeller costs about $35 to maybe $100 depending on the boat motor. Live well pumps are from $20 to $50. I needed two replaced. Let's call it $150 to be generous. I'd figure the impeller is the most challenging to replace. Ya got to disconnect the lower and upper units. So I could see that as a high labor charge. So who knew it took 5 months to do a maybe $200 job that should take a week at best? Oh I know why. I missed it! The ECU repair conservatively cost $1500. For my motor they're $500. That math doesn't math up to $3500 with $120 per part installation. The wonderful journey from impeller to ECU at Bryce Marine certainly Making America Great Again. And another aside, How the hell do I go from a 3 foot coiled trailer wire to truck, to an over 6 foot connection cable over this extended stay at Bryce Marine?

Ted has no idea what he's doing and returned my boat to me in worse condition than I left it. Destroyed my fuel line, and didn't replace it (was in perfect working order when I dropped the boat off), parts and his trash were all over the boat when I picked it up. Quoted me a price for work and said they had to do more than expected but never called me to verify if I wanted to put more money into an old motor. When I questioned the price he accused me of "complaining" - Sorry dude - if you weren't a terrible mechanic, that takes a ridiculous amount of time, people wouldn't question your bills. Items were replaced and tampered with that didn't need to be. He is clearly price gouging and taking advantage of people. Changed all my spark plugs when they were brand new! Didn't like being called on his antics by me. He was rude, disrespectful, and legit vulgar when I picked up my boat. This dude is an absolute fraud and should not be in business. DO NOT take your boat here. I know options are limited in WNY - but literally go ANYWHERE but here. The place looks like a junkyard and you'll find your boat in a junkyard if you let this clown touch it. He has no idea what he's doing and this was the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Ted is a horrible human and his work represents the kind of person he is. He acts like an entitled idiot as if the customer owes him something. I will be contacting the BBB and filing a complaint as my boat was not anywhere closer to working order when it was returned and he doubled the original quoted bill... AND I had to clean up his trash. Absolute joke.
