Taste of Jerusalem is the kind of place that reminds you why you should never judge a restaurant by its zip code or its signage. Tucked into a perfectly forgettable strip mall in Plainfield, this little spot is quietly serving some of the best food in the area and I am genuinely annoyed it took me this long to find it. The chicken kabob plate was a revelation. Massive portions of beautifully marinated chicken laid over a split of white rice and spicy rice. That spicy rice deserves its own paragraph. Fragrant, deeply spiced, with a slow building heat that lingers just long enough to keep pulling you back for another bite. Addicting is the only word for it. The hummus was exactly what hummus should be, fresh, delicious, also addictive. I added falafel and pita and those falafel were genuinely among the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, not a trace of that greasy heaviness that ruins lesser versions. Just fragrant, spiced, crispy little bites that I genuinely savored. My partner got the chicken wrap and said every component worked together without competing, tasted fresh, and left him full without feeling heavy. High praise from a man who knows his way around a wrap. The space is clean and simple. You order from a kiosk. None of that matters because the husband and wife team running the grill are pouring obvious passion into every plate and it comes through in every single bite. Plainfield has a gem here. Treat it accordingly.

Just happened to be in the area and decided to try this place since we had never been before…read more Walked into a delicious aroma, and knew right away we had made the right choice. I chose the Chicken Koobideh which was so juicy, I was shocked! I've had good Koobideh, but never this juicy and tender! Strong flavor, and hint of saffron, a true delight. I also ordered the Ghormeh Sabji - which is a soya (dill) based green stew with meat and beans, and when it first comes to the table, you're thinking this looks and smells like henna paste, but the taste is so beautifully complex - savory, bitter, buttery, and pure deliciousness in every bite!!!!! A must try for something different. Husband ordered the lamb shank, and it was tender and fall off the bone! The meat was soft and unctuous. It was served with this roasted garlic bulb that was roasted to perfection, taking the harshness of the garlic away and replacing it with a soft, buttery, jammy garlicky goodness that is to DIE for!!!! Lastly, my mom got the lamb and beef Koobideh and said it was soft and juicy as well. After food, we had their tea and it is absolute perfection. I take mine sweetened, but even unsweetened my mother found it perfect! Lastly, don't sleep on the DOOGH! That's that fermented yogurt drink that is tart, salty, and super refreshing! I almost didn't even wanna tell yall about it, but I reminded myself that gatekeeping is a cardinal sin! And finally, the ambiance and the service is AMAZING. So gracious, so soft spoken, so generous and just kind to boot. The food is delicious but I'd come back just to see these smiling faces!!!

What a true gem of a find!…read more This is a small place in a small strip mall. The manager and the food are outstanding! My husband ordered a chicken and rice dish, I ordered the vegan dill rice. Very few places serve dill rice, but it delicious and one of my favorite foods. I rarely cook dill rice, because of how time-consuming preparing dill is to separate from the stems. The manager came by to ask how our food was, to which I replied, "Excellent, but this dill rice has no lima beans or fava beans." He informed me that he has had customers that are allergic to lime beans, but is happy to include them if they are requested when ordering. He also said that they will make any menu item modification when requested. They have a menu board as well as QR code menus. Top place for people of any dietary need/choice!

This was a very disappointing experience at Sara's Restaurant on 05/30/26…read more There was only one waiter serving the entire restaurant, and we often had to get up and find him whenever we needed something. The biggest issue was the payment process. The waiter handed me a portable payment device showing a total of $94.04 and immediately prompted me to select a tip amount. I chose 15%, bringing the total to $106.15. Only after asking for a receipt did I discover that an 18% service charge had already been added to the bill. I felt misled. The waiter should have first shown the full bill breakdown before presenting the tip screen. Charging an 18% service fee and then prompting customers for an additional tip without clearly disclosing it is not transparent. My party consisted of two adults and children, with the oldest being only 10 years old, which made the service charge even more surprising. The food itself was decent, although the portion sizes were quite small compared to other restaurants charging similar prices. Had the billing process been handled honestly and transparently, I would have overlooked the portion sizes. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will not be returning. I wanted to share this review so others know what to expect.

If…read moreyou're running two new sandwiches, and they come on Asiago bagels, how are you out of Asiago bagels at all, let alone as early as 12:30??? So anyway, we substituted sesame bagels. The sandwiches came out cold. They did not appear to have been toasted/heated at all. A few bites in, we realized my sandwich was made using the two bottoms of the bagels, and hubby's used the two top halves of the bagels. This resulted in my sandwich having very little sesame seeds, and two thinner halves. Hubby lucked out because his was loaded with sesame seeds, and his two halves were bigger. Overall the sandwiches were so-so. Had they been hot and melty, they might have been better. We won't order these sandwiches again, but we might give this location another try in the future as the location is very convenient, and the employees were very friendly.

Apparently EXTRA olives means no olives because that's what I got. Not. A. One. Along with no tomatoes, cucumber or onion. If it weren't late and I wasn't already starving I'd be back over there for a correct salad. I am not a rude, unpleasant person -- quite the opposite. But Panera, for whatever reason, gets orders wrong more they get them right.
