We ordered a reg beef a beef/sausage combo, one dipped one light gravy with fries and a side of cheese. We both ordered the gardinara and let me tell you it was HOT and delicious perfect heat and vinegar to cut through the fat. The Italian sausage was so flavorful and hearty. Random stop on my way to the hotel. Out here for work and the drive to my lodge was too long to wait. Saw this place so decided to check it out. Ordered their classic buona beef sub with fries and lemonade...and wow it was splendid. Learned they marinate their beef briskets in gravy...now I know what you're thinking whhhatttt??????? Yes and the flavor is amazing. First off the meat is very juicy and the gravy marinade wasn't too thick or salty at all. The bread it came in wasn't soggy at all either and gave it the perfect crisp and soft texture to each bite. I didn't realize you can add bell peppers and onions to the sub so ordered it just as is but the flavor was still amazing. The big negative for me is how long it takes to get my food. I usually come around 4. Don't normally expect it to be really hectic at that time. I just bought an Italian beef combo and one plain Italian beef and got charged $30. That's crazy won't be going back to Buona beef.

I often go here and do the drive through and or curbside pickup. I recently decided to go inside and eat because I was really hungry and I didn't want to eat inside the car. Going through the drive through is usually a pretty quick experience and the customer service is usually GREAT. Going inside the restaurant was a bit different, the cashier was really nice. The restaurant was spacious, bright and clean but my experience after sitting down was a bit DIFFERENT. One of the workers, I presume she cleans the tables; kept walking past my table, every few seconds, and looking at my table. It made my experience a bit odd, I'm not complaining just mentioning it made my experience a bit different. Otherwise it wasn't a bad experience. My parents went for their first visit and were disappointed at the lack of beef on the sandwich and how dry the sandwich was (they didn't ask for it without juice). They also ordered a chocolate shake and it was white and tasteless, hmmm I went to visit recently and this location was closed during lunch time due to a power outage for hours. It was sad. Was excited when I knew of this new location and the fact that it had a drive through. I placed an order for three large beefy sandwiches with cheese cheese last Sunday through drive-thru. Got home and to my surprise they didn't have cheese. Was disappointed, called the location and when I asked to speak to a manager they hung up. Called again and they were hesitant to get me the manager. After waiting for a while I spoke to manager and he stated they would issue me a $10 credit, never received credit. I understand that errors happen but when you spending over $72 dollars in food they should at least honor credit and ensure accuracy. Very bad customer experience at this location. read more

The service at this location is so bad its comical. I went through the drive thru I placed my order and I was told to pull around to the side and someone will bring it out. After waiting 20 minutes I leave my car parked there and walked into the restaurant and asked where is my order. I am then told the person who was suppose to bring it out went home and forgot to tell someone to bring out my food. I called the manager the next day and was invited back to replace my order. A week later I came inside this time and told them who I am and they said they will replace everything. A young clueless girl calls my name and hands me a bag with one item. I told her this is not my order it's food for 3 people. She said she is sorry so I wait and then she hands me one bag and I said I don't think its all here and I repeat what I ordered and she say no its all in one bag. I drive home the bag soaked through the bottom because she wasn't bright enough to put the sandwiches right side up and all the beef juice leaked out of the plastic sleeves because she put them in upside down now I have a nice stain on my carpeting in my car and to top it all off.... We ordered takeout and when we got home noticed they left out one of our beefs, so we called and they were so apologetic and compensated us with the replacement beef, a refund for the beef that was missed and a voucher for a free beef in the future. This is a new location and the parking is quite sparse for the traffic they are/will experience but they seem to have a good drive up procedure that's efficient and fast. read more

Supposed to only be a featured item for a limited time, the demand for the sandwich has convinced Buona to keep the vegan beef on the menu for an extended time. This review will stay five stars until that goes away! The vegan beef is straight up delicious. Shout out to Uptons for making the delicious meat. One of the best things about Buona, and some of you may disagree, is that their fry portions are not too big. I never feel gross after eating a normal order of fries here. Anytime I've ordered from here, the food has been delicious and their staff is always friendly. Some of my favorite items are the roasted veggie pizza, chicken Caesar salad, cheese fries and, of course, the beef sandwiches. The last time I visited, there was a minor issue with my order. Overall, I'm basically happy with the food I have gotten from Buona. That said, some of the portions seem to be a little on the small side. The bread used for the beef sandwiches seems to be smaller in diameter than what one receives at other beef sandwich venues. Less bread = less beef on the sandwich. The "Chicago-style dog" has all the proper ingredients but the proportions are a little off. The actual hotdog seems to be smaller in diameter than what is normally served at other restaurant like Portillo's. And the pickle is as large as the hotdog which is a bit overpowering to the taste. I love Buona and have been a rewards member for years. The Bolingbrook location is superb. A+ quality and service. Darien runs a close second. When Buona opened a location in Countryside, I was very happy. We have now been to this location three times and will never go back again. I rate Countryside an F for failure. Nothing is good. The pasta orders are always cold and they give you skimpy small portions for high prices. The beef sandwiches are consistently lacking in quality and meat. The Chicken Pomodoro was beyond awful and I ended up giving it to the dog who eats anything. They used chicken end pieces that were thick and gross, wilted tomatoes, and I couldn't find the avocado. It must have left in horror. The sandwich slipped and slid when trying to eat the hard chewy bread so I gave up and called the dog over. The fries are the worst I have ever had. Absolutely worst. I have liked Buona for years, going back to original in Berwyn. Beef is super tasty, chopped salad is delicious with many ingredients including black olives, and my latest dish that I tried this week is unbelievably delish: avocado chicken bowl. I can't emphasize enough: chicken had perfect char, plenty of sliced fresh avocado, on a small tasty bed of what I think may be baby spinach and tomato. An I identified light dressing gives it a slightly sweet unique taste. Highly recommend! Hope this location does well, it is my closest choice. read more

Ordered a burger, cheese fries, and a canoli. Burger SUCKED - BIG TIME!! Extremely dry and waaaayyy under seasoned, and they put SWEET PICKLES on it!! Way to ruin a burger! (although it didn't take much to ruin it!) Cheese fries were awesome (although for what they charge for an order of fries, they could give you a bigger order), canoli just OK. I certainly hope their beef sandwich is much better than their burgers, or they'll go out of business quickly! I definitely won't bother to order from them again - very disappointing. read more
