I do not personally order Meez Meals. It is my daughter who orders them for her family. Sometimes I join them for a Meez dinner at their house, and sometimes I receive a package of their leftovers for my house which I welcome with enthusiasm. The meals have all been very delicious, even as leftovers! Recent examples: Ginger Scallion Chicken, and Chicken Noodle Soup with Matzo Balls. All the ingredients are fresh and the cooking directions are clear and easy, according to my daughter. I merely microwave the leftovers without sacrificing any taste or texture, so far so good. Everything arrives beautifully packaged and already prepped for cooking, with a recipe card that walks you through the whole process. I've been ordering every week for a few months now, and I am still impressed every time by how quickly each meal comes together. And trust me, these meals are amazing, so not having to wait too long to enjoy them is a true win-win! Some of the greatest hits for us have been the Pica-Pau Steak, the Roasted Red Pepper Steak with Greek Potatoes, the Himalayan Red Rice w/ Bangkok Basil Crunch, and the Deconstructed Chicken Kiev. Highly recommended. I have been using this meal service for a while now. I didn't plan on using them long term, but am so pleased with the service I cant stop selecting delicious meals! This is better than cooking yourself, as the ingredients are measured, chopped, diced or otherwise prepped so that putting them together and cooking them is relatively easy and done usually take more than 30 minutes total. The meal options are plentiful so I usually find 2 or more meals easily. There isn't a minimum # of meals you have to order, but you total order must be at least $50. In some cases I've only ordered one meal, but added 4 servings of that meal to hit $50. They also have some fabulous desserts so you can order1 or 2 of those to get to $50. They are delivered every Monday and they come in these really nice insulated, zippered boxes with 2 large ice packs inside, allowing you to leave them outside until you get home. read more

If you live in the Chicagoland area - Meez should be your go to meal kit service. We've tried others - and were turned off by excessive packaging, overly complicated instructions, missing ingredients and a requirement to order three meals each week. All of those issues disappear with Meez. To start - I order the number of meals I want only on the weeks I want. If I don't order - they don't ship me anything. Gone is that "Oh No!" sensation when I realized that I forgot to cancel next week's selections so I'm getting three meals I didn't want. And what about those meals? The quality of the protein is excellent, the veggies are fresh and precut. The portions are plentiful (we usually have leftovers). And the seasonings/sauces? Outstanding! The ability to get just the amount of Truffle butter, or pomegranate pesto sauce that I need is one of the things I love most about Meez. I don't have to drive to some specialty grocery store to pick up the ingredients I need to make my own special sauce - and then end up with two quarts of a sauce when I only need 6 ounces for the recipe. Thank you Meez for saving me that time, aggravation, and wasted space in my refrigerator. In the two years we have been with Meez - I have only marked two items as "don't order that again" - only because it was a taste we didn't care for. We find the options to be flavorful, unique and fun to prepare. I like having a Meez meal in my refrigerator when I get home after a busy day - or any day for that matter. And - the number one reason why I love Meez meal kits - they deliver in a reusable insulated bag, with two ice packs. The next time I place an order - I put that insulated bag - AND the now melted ice packs - outside and Voila - a replacement bag appears - and the previous bag and ice packs are returned to Meez headquarters to be used again. I even return the small plastic containers that sometimes accompany the orders. Occasionally, we place an order to be delivered to my mom's house in Iowa. We then bring the ice packs and the insulated packaging from that UPS meal kit delivery back to Chicago - and return them to Meez with our next local order. This isn't like any other meal kit - there is no subscription so you can order only the amounts you want whenever you want, the food is amazingly healthy and fresh, they partner with local farms and businesses for ingredients, and there truly are options for any kind of diet restrictions and allergies. The vegetarian options are amazing - I eat meat but I never miss it in these entrees. The portion sizes are huge as well. If I order 3 servings, I can usually get two dinners and two lunches out of it. Plus the food comes totally pre chopped so minimal work is required. It can be pricey but it's a lifesaver for busy weeks. What motivated me to finally write a review was a specific recipe from the last few weeks - the new Chicken Saagwala. We looked at the ingredients for this thinking "Raw peppers? Kale salad?? This is not going to work." but OH MY it was incredible. I will be ordering every single week that this is on the menu. The pandemic caused me to level up my cooking skills. First, I don't enjoy cooking I prefer to make reservations, alas, during the shutdowns I had to adapt. I started with ALL of the meal boxes and that was fun for awhile. There were some that were better than others but after a year of that I was cooked out. I started with Meez in January 2022 and wow...what a difference a little chopping makes. The food is fresh and ready to cook. It's like having a sous chef in my itty bitty kitchen. So far I have liked everything and while I've had to make minimal adjustments (GF not by choice) they make it very easy to do so. Do I wish they didn't have to use so much packaging? Of course...I feel the same way about the grocery store so I don't blame them for managing within a system that requires food safety. There are only a few containers for each meal so it seems like they are trying to minimize plastics wherever they can. Highly recommend the service. I started using them about 4 or 5 weeks ago and they are wonderful. I know there are a lot of players in this home meal delivery market, but I can only speak for this one. Their system is a marvel, with the quality canvas container kept cool that you simply leave out again upon your next delivery date. Inside are your individual meals inside a rolled and taped up paper grocery bag with everything you need packed inside, separated into little packets along with your handy card with cooking instructions and tips, calorie count, ease of cooking rating, time, etc, They are 100% right when they say that this is restaurant quality food (a nice restaurant I might add). The meat, seafood and vegetables always look fantastic and fresh. The chef created sauces really make the meal. They give you pre-cut vegetables with every single meal and offer vegetarian and vegan choices every week on their varied menu. Although I am neither of those, nor do I have Gluten issues, I have eaten quite aa few vegetarian dishes and found them to be delicious and inventive. I mostly cook for one and their is understandably a two-person serving and up offering, so I just divide it in half, throw it into my Pyrex, and there is my lunch for the next day. The portions are large, you won't go hungry. Their pricing seems fair to me, especially now that I've only shopped for fruit, breakfast items and pantry items. Their website is very easy to use, and they make it easy to find recipes to fit various dietary restrictions. The gluten free options have been terrific so far. I ordered 3 servings of some meals for my first box, and made my first dinner last night. Those three servings of the spinach pancakes with corn relish are easily five meals for me! I have long avoided meal services, but now I have a longer commute and no cafeteria on-site so I have to bring my lunches. I really like the fast delivery so I don't have to order far in advance and I love that there's no automatic delivery. It will probably take me two weeks to eat all these meals. We've ordered for four or five weeks at this point. Extremely impressed with the company. We've previously tried Blue Apron kits which were ok. Recently we tried Freshly, which we found underwhelming. However the Meez meals have been easy to prepare, culinarily interesting and more than ample. Meez Meals have been my dream come true! The meals are delicious, nutritious and fun to cook. My family's taste pallet has widely expanded since being exposed to the variety of entrees available. (There was a difficult transition period for my 6 year old accustomed to pizza, chicken nuggets, and macaroni & cheese.) Each night I have the opportunity to become a Kitchen Goddess as I concoct the latest recipe. After creating a meal my whole family sits down and spends more time together than we did before. Four portions are enough for my family of 5. This includes 2 adults and 2 teenage boys as well as my little guy. We always have leftovers. We also appreciate that it isn't a subscription, so each week we can choose whether the weeks options look good. The recipes are well written and easy to follow. A friend suggested I try Meez Meals. I'm a pretty good cook on my own. I don't mind shopping and slicing and dicing. Nevertheless, I thought I'd give it a try. Out of the eight meals so far, I've enjoyed some more than others, but there hasn't been a dud. I'm particularly impressed with the quality of the meat and fish. I'd been concerned that they'd cheap it out on those ingredients, but they've all been very high quality. Beautiful salmon and tilapia filets and gorgeous beef filets for the Mongolian beef. My wife and I have tried several meal plan services including HungryRoot, BlueApron, and Nutrition for Longevity. The one we like far and away the best is Meez Meals. First, unlike other meal plans services, with Meez Meals you select exactly the meals you would like each week. Every week you specify how many meals, how many servings of each, and which specific entrees and/or deserts you want. And the menu changes each week. So you get exactly what you want (and none of what you don't really want.) And each of the ingredients are perfectly proportioned for you, so you don't have any wastage (and don't overeat ;-). Further, if you want to skip a week, you don't need to do anything. You don't need to notify them like with other meal plan services we have tried. If you don't order anything they don't send you anything. - Now for the meals themselves. In our opinion, they are the best of any meal plan service we have tried. I often say to my wife while we are eating a Meez Meals, "if we got this in a nice restaurant, we would be happy." Many of the meals really are "restaurant quality." Moreover they are not difficult to prepare. I am retired and my wife is still working. One of things she wished for when I retired and have the time is a meal on the table when she gets home from a long day at work. I have absolutely been loving Meez Meals! I've tried other food delivery services before, but this one is by far the best. Plus, I love that I can support a local business! The weekly menus have a nice variety and I love that you can customize your options if you're gluten free, vegetarian, etc. Each week there are about 9 entrees to choose from, 2 sides/salads, and like 6 desserts! And when I say desserts, I'm talking things like Eli's Cheesecake... YEAH. Delicious. The recipes are super easy to follow and take anywhere from 20-40 minutes from start to table with 30 minutes being about the average. I love that with Meez Meals you can just order when you want food. No crazy subscriptions or need to freeze ordering weeks when you're going to be out of town or don't want to order. The email and text reminders make it easy to place your order and I think the prices are fair. Entrees vary but on average are about $13 each. The more servings you purchase the cheaper they are. I've been using Meez Meals about 2 months now and don't have a bad word to say about the service. I'm a terrible cook and I needed to get on a more regimented food intake. Now they make me look like I am a good cook! Everything has been very easy to make, which is saying a lot from a cooking novice like myself. I've even made some of their orders for guests and was able to impress (even if my plating skills are subpar). Nonetheless, I'm eating healthy every night now, and my leftovers are perfect for lunch. My apartment smells amazing every night now and I haven't ordered out once since I started using the service. There are very few delivery places that could match the quality of what I can now make at home, and even less that could be just as healthy for you. It's local to Chicago which makes it far more green than using any other long distance food service. Additionally they tend to source a lot of the food from local sources. There is no subscription fee. Order as much or as little as you want each week, or skip a week. This is obviously a huge plus as schedules can quickly change and you don't want to waste money! Every Monday they publish the menu on their website with details on every meal. If you sign up for emails or texts you will get updates delivered there as well, including a reminder to place your order before the Noon deadline each week on Friday. There are multiple delivery windows to choose from. Food shows up in an insulated case and is packed with ice. I've had the food sit outside for a couple of hours before I got home from work and the food kept without an issue. Ordering details: Most items require you to order at least 2 servings, but there are multiple size options of 2, 3, 4, and 8 servings. Sometimes there are pictures of the items, but every item has a quick notes card and direct links to it's recipe card. Every card has Weight Watchers smart point details on it as well! I think it uses the old WW point system, but its still very helpful. I've already lost weight by using this service! Most meals come with a lot of healthy bulk filler! There are also snacks and treats you can order if you want to spoil yourself sometimes. The company feels like it's a mom and pop store that cares about its customers. I'm often surprised at how available and responsive they are when I realize they have been around for years. There is a dinner hotline you can call every night for help, and each time I've used it they've helped me come to a solution. Every time I've had a question via email they have gotten back to me the same day, usually within a few hours. It's rare to see this consistent effort. Special Food Requests: They allow you to note on any type of food choices you need to avoid. Spicy, allergies, gluten free, vegetarian, etc. I have a unique food allergy that isn't on their main list of things to avoid. Despite that they always check my order to make sure I haven't ordered a possible dangerous item for me. They always reach out to me to ask how to adjust my order and allow me to make changes even if it is pass the Friday order deadline when I respond. Food quality: I've never had an issue with the food! It's always been fresh and the picks they have sent me have all been top notch. All food comes prepped for you (re: chopped/diced, etc) and vacuum sealed into individual bags. They claim to use only free range meat, and it's all been tasty. Cooking time: Most meals are about 15-20 minutes hands on time. Most meals can be completed between 20-40 minutes. I've had a couple items that required 60 minutes of cook time. I've been able to prep most foods using an oven ready skillet (cover needed sometimes), a smaller skillet, a saucepan (with cover), 2 ribbed cooking sheets and a loaf pan. read more

I've tried many meal delivery companies, and Meez Meals beats them all. No subscription, so no unexpected "auto" deliveries of stuff you don't want or can't manage. Very easy cooking. No chopping onions or mincing garlic. Everything is already measured and ready to just put in the pan. The meal choices are always interesting, and I've enjoyed them all. I have found that for me, in a single person household, 2 servings actually works as 3 meals for me. What REALLY stands out for me is that they use very basic packaging, and you can return it all by leaving it out on the next delivery day. With other services I was drowning in heavy gel freezer packs, cardboard boxes, insulation materials and bubble-wrap bags. Fresh, delicious, super easy! I've been using Blue Apron for the past year & as someone who loves to cook, I enjoyed them. However, I realized that having food shipped from the East Coast to Chicago was probably not the best for the environment and I wanted to try something more local & gave Meez Meals a try. I am very impressed by every aspect of Meez. First, the customer service: Meez feels very family-run, and I feel like I'm part of that big family. I opted in to receive texts and emails from them & the emails in particular feel like someone is really writing directly to me, and listening to me, asking me for my input, etc. When they dropped off my meals, the driver photographed the Meez product in my lobby and emailed it to me so I knew they'd dropped it off. And, the meals come in a re-usable bag that Meez will take back the next time they come, which I love for saving the environment. Next, Meez already chops all the ingredients. As someone who loves cooking, I worried I'd be disappointed and not feel like I was really cooking. I also worried that by chopping the ingredients, they'd be less fresh. However, one thing I hadn't liked about Blue Apron is that all their meals took me at least 30 minutes (but usually over 40) of hands on time, plus generally tons of dishes (and I think I cook pretty fast). Typically if I cook from scratch, meals take me 20 minutes total. With Meez, I was able to make a fancy meal that required a long bake time, but only needed about 10 minutes total hands-on time. And, the ingredients were still super fresh! Vacuum sealed sometimes to ensure freshness. And the finished meal was better than most meals I've had at restaurants. I also like how customizable it is. I can choose exactly how many servings I want, which is great since I often want left overs, but always. Also, my husband & I can't tolerate spicy foods, and we've added that to our notes so that we don't get spicy even if that would normally have been part of the meal. I was not planning to write a review for Meez after trying them last fall but they keep bugging me with emails asking what went wrong (even though I have told them several times) and today asked me, again, to leave them a Yelp review so here I am. I have used several delivery services including Blue Apron, Sunbasket, Plated and Hello Fresh. Meez Meals looked interesting so I gave them a shot. The first dish I went to make required milk but none was provided. I am accustomed to providing olive oil or butter, salt and pepper with the other services but was surprised to find no milk as it was a key ingredient in the meal. The dish was a strata that took much longer to cook through than indicated even in a shallower pan. If I had used the recommended pan, it would have taken double the time. The second, a salmon dish, was ok but the salsa was very watery so acidic it was nearly inedible and had little flavor beyond the acid. What really turned me off on Meez is when I replied to their first inquiry asking me how I liked me meals, the reply I got back said in short, "How can you not like us! Everyone loves our meals!" I then got another followup from one of the principals asking me how I liked my meals. About a month ago the President emailed me asking why I had not ordered again. I sent him the email thread to which he replied thanking me for me feedback but no apology for the poor customer service nor any attempt to get me to order again. My first Meez Meal was my last and I will try again to unsubscribe from their emails although that has not worked in the past. read more
