This supermarket is in the same plaza as my dentist and I pretty much only go there before or after seeing my dentist. That being said, they have a good selection of International grocery items. Lots of Caribbean products, some products from Latin America, and tons of products from all the different Asian countries. They have a prepared food section as well, although from what I saw, the prepared food was all Chinese food. Prices were pretty good. You can get a 2 item combo with rice or noodles for $6.99. I didn't actually buy any, so I can't comment on the taste, but everything looked good. Staff are not the friendliest, but prices are cheap, so you win some, you lose some. Lots of free parking in the plaza, but it's busy in the parking lot, so watch out for careless drivers and oblivious pedestrians.

Fruit and vegetables: on point price wise-you cannot go wrong. They have bread fruit, jack fruit, tons of varieties of yam (including the one that is popular in N.E. Asia/Japan), a wide range of fresh herbs for cooking, and a more than respectable variety of fruit, they boast a massive variety of foodstuffs from Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines. In terms of fish - you need to check what is the freshest they have on a particular day - I got us a frozen pomfret which was on sale. They had extra-jumbo shrimps from India which are very rare to find for sale here in Canada. This place may not be pretty from the outside, but inside, it is a goldmine of enormous product ranges at very, very competitive prices.

Metro seemed to have fresh fruit and vegetables and a clean store to me. I went there at least 4 times while vacationing in Toronto and did not have any issues with the store or the service or the pricing and quality of the food. I recommend this Metro location if you are in the area. There is plenty of parking and the carts are free.

However, it always appears that we are under over-zealous scrutiny from security and staff each time we visit. We have no idea why...we spend a lot of money each time we shop and certainly don't act in a suspicious manner. Perhaps it's because we are a mixed-race couple, maybe dress too casually or are considered scruffy, too fat, too old, or a combination of biases? I understand a rise in the cost of grocery items correlates to a rise in shoplifting, but seriously, enough is enough already. We have experienced a plethora of odd incidents relating to staff following us, scrutiny from till operatives as we walk down each aisle and staff has literally breathed down our necks at the self-checkout, even when putting on my gloves after paying. Although we have joked about this problem, the realization that this does not happen elsewhere has clinched the decision to call it quits and not visit the store again. I believe it's better to have some self-respect and not allow retail employees to treat you in this manner... so Metro at 221 Lloyd Manor Rd, Etobicoke can go and do one...maybe hassle someone else with their "isms" for a change.

Seen this place transform from their old, not so tidy to their updated and more refreshed appearance. Compared to other grocery stores I still find No Frills chains the most affordable one. I can get my grass fed steaks here not ripping off my budget. They offer some organic stuff too, though its limited. The produce is alright you'll find good ones specially when they are fully stocked. Its great that this location is so diversed that they cater products from different background. They have the aisle for Kosher products, aisle for International foods and Halal meats and so on. I don't miss swinging by the Natural Food aisle. I'm glad that most of my stuff I use they have it here. This location don't offer yet the self checkout corner, seen some places they have it already but this one, you'll do the traditional queuing to cash out. I guess that's better, meaning more people are still employed than a machine. The people who works in this location is always approachable. You see them sweeping, stacking or putting away stuffs they will always throw you a smile and happy to assist you. I use my optimum card to collect my PC points and boy, I'm in heaven when its time to use my accumulated points! Who doesn't like big savings??? Location is just at the intersection of Bathurst and Wilson just around the corner with TD bank beside it, which also they share space for parking.
