Still one of the top escape places in gta! Decor: 5* They have talented artists that decorate the hallway, outside theme doors, and an immersive setting in the escape room. I'm surprised they haven't won more awards for their rooms or close contender bragging rights. Clue: 4* Some rooms have hints on a screen and follows your progress based on where you've progressed. Some rooms are a white button and they'll come into your room to assist you, no walkie talkies thank goodness! Lighting 3* They feel it is enough and the main focus clues are properly illuminated. We feel it's still too dark to read some clues like book titles and request their flashlight every time. Staff 5* All staff here over the years have been awesome! Friendly, passionate,mature and all game lovers themselves. Game puzzles 3*-5* Some are well done, clever and creative. no locks and combos and they progressed to top of the line puzzles. We did find not all were well timed and one finale puzzle just plain lazy as if they lost their puzzle maker. We've done almost all their rooms and even ones they've replaced. The Missing Will: so much potential at the start but with an unsatisfactory end! It's like they ran out of time or money as the puzzles did not compare. The ending was too sudden and we stood there having won but confused this was it instead of their usual wrap up theme. It's not scary at all but with a supernatural theme. It's also perfect for larger groups or friends with adhd. The roles you pick can help give clues and hints for solving your character puzzles aside from the main ones. This is also what makes it frustrating for us, as we want to clear all puzzles and it's not possible/necessary. Pathogen: interesting how the game can change based on your progress, choices and hints. We won with a minute thirty to spare. Bring a friend that reads everything as ours rushed before following orders, one that isn't colour blind, and one that isn't afraid to go somewhere alone. Not scary on this room. Noriko: scary theme! For me it wasn't the doll props and flashy lighting but the background music and special effect noise. I couldn't concentrate very well as I found that triggering and this had the darkest rooms with poorest lighting at their establishment. Tip: Bring a friend that is musical, don't bring friends afraid of scary movies! Crossroads: dark thriller vibe, liked the choice to choose a decision to effect ending, the changing atmosphere to fit the evolving story and ending was fun. My friends liked this room a lot and played it two more times after our win and couldn't break out with the other two groups. Lounge: only standing room now. No board games offered anymore. They sell canned pop and waters, have 3 clean washrooms. Photo board is self run at the entrance on a timer but terrible angle and background. $10 off for back to back games. The puzzles/clues were great and weren't too hard, but not super easy. the last one got us and technically we didn't complete it, but the guy working there said it was a win. hahaa. Came here for my birthday. I've been here several times and did multiple rooms. Crossroads, The Unknown, Haunting of Noriko, The Arc, that I recall. Escape games do a great job with there rooms. I did many escape rooms with other companies and escape games is one of the best. The story, theming of the rooms, décor, animation, puzzles are consistently top notch. Our favorite room from this place was the Haunting of Noriko. This time around we did the newest room, The Last Resort. It was a horror themed room with a pretty gruesome story and environment and it did not disappoint! This room would be perfect to do for Halloween. I find the staff here are all very friendly, they take their time to explain the room and the puzzles we missed afterwards, especially when we don't escape! Lol. Washrooms here are on the small side and I found that the toilet had grime on the base which was surprising, but it was clean overall. They had bottles of hand sanitizer at the front desk and by the entrance to the rooms but no where else. Only downside is the parking, I think. There are not many spots to park in this business unit complex. But in saying that I never not found a spot when I've come. WOW - I don't even know where to begin to explain how AMAZING and FUN the experience my friends and I had with "The Unknown". It was definitely nerve-wrecking before we started the mission because there was NO information given about this room and the extreme content warning... (not recommended for anyone with heart conditions.... HUH??!!) - not to mention you aren't allowed any hints at all.. but I am so glad we gave into the hype and tried it out. Obviously I can't spoil the room but once you experience it you can tell everything about it was very well-thought out. From the design to the production, to the puzzles and to the story, the entire mission had you on your toes the entire time. It is different from your usual escape room as The Unknown is so much more interactive so you're fully immersed into the story. I don't think I'll ever come across another escape room that combines thrill and fun so harmoniously but this is for sure something you MUST experience in your life (I'm a huge scaredy cat and loved it!!). Can confirm that The Unknown lived up to its hype (if not beyond the hype LOL)!!! The staff was also very kind and accommodating. One of our friends was running about 15 minutes late and they let us wait for her with no problem. I also like that there are designated waiting spots for each room in the lobby to avoid clutter with different groups, such a small detail but so important to organization during busy times (they literally pay attention to everything!!). For those who love solving puzzles you would like this place. I'm kind of claustrophobic so I only wanted to do one game. Our group did the Mayan Curse. It was fun to be part of a group solving puzzles. We got out of our escape room with five minutes to spare. You have an hour to escape the room. The door you came in is never locked so you can always leave the escape room if you really need to. There's a timer above the door that counts your time down. Plus there's a hint box if you need help. We only used the hint in the last 10 minutes of the game as we were in the last section of our escape room. You really need to use your noggin to solve these puzzles. Some math expertise helps as well. We did this for a company social event & it was fun. My hubby would like this place. Be warned there are scary escape rooms too so if you scare easily don't do that one. read more

Wow - without a doubt the best escape room experience I have had. Visited on a Saturday at 5:30 pm for the Unknown. There are board games to play if you're waiting as well as lockers for personal items. Obviously I can't speak too much about the room itself but it was very immersive (tons of props and interactive elements), and definitely challenged our thinking. At first I was a bit skeptical at the $30 (tax included) price tag but after our group played the room we definitely thought it was worth it. Without spoiling too much about the room, it was an extremely well done room that allows for insightful thinking. They've got a number of different rooms ranging from easy-medium to one you have to sign a waiver for, and defibrillators are strictly forbidden. The crew is helpful and each reservation has their own separate table to hang out at before or after. Price point is standard for escape rooms (around $30 with tax) but I genuinely think these rooms are more worth paying the premium for, compared to escape venues in downtown Toronto or Scarborough. They have drinks for purchase and accept credit card as payment. The lockers are on the smaller side so if you can leave your jacket in your car, do so. Terrific place that far exceeded my expectations. I had been to another escape room location before and it was mostly disappointing. That place was way to cheap and had far too puzzles to solve inside an hour. Escape Games proved to be the opposite of that. I was immediately impressed by how much thought and even budget went into room - well more like 4 rooms on two levels. it was by no means easy, but still attainable. The puzzles had terrific variety and could bring out the various unique strengths of each member of the group. They did a terrific job of building the story by set decoration and even the puzzles themselves. Ours was a spooky room (though not all of them are) and it definitely did the job of scaring most of us at some point. Probably the best escape room places I've been to and for good reason. Walking into the lobby area was just awesome. It felt like home for me - very cozy and tons of board games that you can play while you're waiting. Had a few superheroes props too.. so awesome! Our group booked it during the night around 11pm, so it wasn't as busy then. Let me tell you, this place is so organized. Timing is everything and if you arrive late, they'll start without you -make sure you're not late for your booking! As for the actually room, we did The Unknown room. I won't ruin anything by telling you what we did, but this room was the most elaborate and thought out room I've been to. The puzzle had locks, jump scares, awesome props, decoys and so on. All things were well detailed and put into an intricate game. I really enjoyed the one hour here. Price was $28 per ticket, so it's not cheap (bc baller friend wanted to do the hardest one) lol! We had an awesome time at this place! I had been to an escape room before but nothing like this. The interactive set pieces and elaborate clues made you feel like you were a part of a movie. We tried the crossroads puzzle which has a 42% success rate and luckily we were able to escape with 8 minutes to spare! There are lots of fun sound effects and moving pieces/doors/windows, etc...It's not for the faint of heart or for young kids! This place is super professional, the staff are all excited and enthusiastic and I would really love to try another one! A bit hard to find, this place is in sort of an industrial plaza at the very back of a building and not very clearly marked. It's super popular though so I guess the hard-to-find location doesn't hurt the company too much. I'd definitely say the same thing as other reviewers that it's worth the higher price point at $23 + depending on the room played as the puzzles and rooms are very professionally decorated and presented. Let's just start off saying I had a fantastic time here! I enjoyed the layout and the employees were super friendly and nice! I was surprised by the layout of everything! Looks small but clearly by the prison layout- it is spacious! My group did the prison escape and I'm sad to say we did fail! However, for first timers we did get to the second last room. Other then that, I'm not going to say much because I don't want to give any clues or hints away! What you need to know is you must go! It's super fun and a challenge for the ol' brain. My only dislike was there was a time where we needed to use the hint and then there was a flaw on how a clue was set up. 2 people needed to come in and help us and they didn't stop the timer. It took about 10-15 minutes just to get it solved. I believe with situations like that when something goes wrong that isn't supposed to- timer should be stopped. I thought the price was more than fair since many other escape rooms are similarly priced for lower quality. Staff were amazing. They were all friendly, professional, and answered all questions (they even ask at the end of your room if you had any questions about the puzzles within your room). Before we went into the room, staff warned us that we had more than the recommended number of people participating (we had 10). I suggest that larger groups book 2 rooms instead because we had issues with people standing in the light making things hard to read, not being able to do anything, and just being in the way while trying to navigate between the rooms (not a huge deal as we all still had a great time). Overall, I would highly recommend this place as even the people who were hesitant in coming had a great time and want to do it again! This place was awesome! Didn't know what to expect but reading some reviews, this place is probably the place to go! We did Counter Ops and Diamond Theft. Counter Ops had some really cool effects and the title does it well. Diamond Theft appears a little amateur but the puzzles definitely made up for it. Overall, great place and for the puzzles that seemed have been completed in significantly less than 1 hour, I am going to try with just two people. Great location and the staff seem really great. I would suggest trying all the puzzles as they are also swapping in new rooms to keep returning customers :) Board games in the waiting room is a great idea to keep people entertained. read more

After having played 37 escape games at various places, I still think Escape Games Canada is the best. Hands down, best themes and atmosphere, ever! Every mission I've played here, I've felt fully immersed in the story, and really felt like I was 'there', be it inside Mayan ruins, a haunted house, a prison, etc; the decor is just that awesome. Their attention to detail is amazing, and I love the variety of locks, challenges, and mechanisms. On top of having the traditional key or combination locks, I love that they use devices and machines that use sound, touch, sensors, weight, and things that sometimes require physical effort (i.e. pushing, turning, timing, throwing, stomping, etc). My favourite escape room so far, has been Mindshaft; it was by far the most fun, in terms of getting physical. Meanwhile, the scariest escape game (of all time; not even other places could top this one) was The Unknown. I don't scare easily, but that particular one had me screaming and running four times, throughout the game. I loved it! It was scarier than The Haunting of Noriko. As of now, I've played every game they've had, except for Pathogen- I hope to experience it some time soon. read more

This is my favourite escape room company. My friends and I have been coming here since they opened and when the hype all started. We did almost all their room and recently did two of their new rooms. They have your typical rooms where it is a linear pattern: clue to open one lock with one key and move on to the next. The story line works so well with your mission. If you are a veteran to the typical escape rooms then try out their premium escape rooms. They are based on scores from your experience throughout the hour locked in the room. These are very interactive and makes you feel completely immerse in the game. Never doubt engineers putting together a game for you. The technology these guys developed into the games are so clever. It is undoubtedly one of the big three (establishments with premium production values, elevating the genre well beyond simple rooms with combination locks, boxes, and papers) escape room establishments I would not hesitate to recommend to those interested in escape rooms (the other two being Mayze and Omescape). Puzzles are executed with sophisticated mechanical means, engaging more than just the tactile sense. Many tasks prompt players to employ teamwork and communication, with successful attempts resulting in a sense of thrill, excitement, and immense satisfaction. The composition, props, set, and technology demonstrate a high degree of design and excel at creating the complete immersive experience of escaping an alternate and virtual reality. This is the by far the best escape room in Toronto. The detail they put into the puzzles and the props they use is outstanding. I hate the single room escape rooms as they are just boring. You will always find multiple rooms puzzles here. The puzzles are hard but nothing too crazy next to impossible. Been here twice and was always happy. The price might be a bit higher (I believe is was $26) than other places but it is worth every extra penny. I been to some very bad ones that still close around $20-23. My group is already planning our third visit here this time we gonna try the scary one Noriko. The last one we did was Prison break and we completed in 43 mins and with only 1 clue. Came here last night with a group of friends looking to try something new. Some of us were more familiar with escape games than others. This place was a lot of fun, but the challenge was a little different than the traditional escape room. We had a series of three challenges, each in their own room. The motive wasn't to escape the room, but to complete the challenges as quickly as possible using clues from around the room. You find out your score when you finish all three challenges. One of the staff members accidentally rebooted one of the challenges midway through, so it had to be reset. That was the only hiccup of the whole night. The staff were all super friendly, and the rooms themselves were impressively put together. I wouldn't complete the same room again, but I would definitely go back to see what else they have to offer. read more

I came here with my group of friends multiple times, loved the experience here! So far I have done ESCAPE FROM BLEAK PRISON/NORIKO/SYNDICATE: THE RELIC HEIST/THE UNKNOWN. I would say Noriko itself absolutely deserve a FIVE star, it is a must-try if you're going to escape rooms, the Japanese horror theme is VERY well-done, with multiple rooms and lots of puzzles, my group managed to escape with no hints, but I do recommend going with a large group just so you can buddy up solving the puzzles. Unknown was very fun as well, it was more for the interesting factor in my opinion; so how fun it is depends more on the group of friends you go with imo. Prison was neatly done, your group starts off as two small groups, so just make sure you have balanced teammates on both ends, it does require communication and clues from each other to solve it. Syndicate was the only one my groups did not manage to escape, my personal favourite part about it was the lasers, I am planning to go back again maybe with another group of friends to finish it. It does require a small amount of prior/external knowledge, which I did not like about one of the rooms, my group managed to figure it out but I can see that there would be others who would struggle a bit just because they might not know about certain things (trying not to spoil here.). But overall process of elimination still could be used to solve that particular puzzle, just will take a bit longer if you don't know about it to begin with, which I suppose is also fine. Wow. Night and day. Esc-It (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/esc-it-markham) was my first escape room and this was my second. It's like comparing a cardboard box to a fully-furnished home. Escape Games is the real deal. Someone actually designed things. There was construction involved. No loose post-it notes and materials found at your local Costco. Our group of seven did The Haunting of Noriko, which was pretty spooky. I found the clues really clever and the whole experience very satisfying. It can hold 5-12 players, with the recommended being 7-10. I think seven was a good number. You start with a briefing in a separate room to tell you the general rules for the game and then the specific backstory for your room. It was pretty well produced and did a good job of setting the tone. The Haunting of Noriko is about trying to put the soul of a daughter who was killed by her father to rest. Let's just say the room felt very authentic. It'll get your heart rate up and your blood pumping. After your game (or before, I guess), you can play board games in their waiting area. They have Settlers of Catan and then most of the other games were bad, but this place never claimed to be a board game café! I was really impressed with Escape Games, especially with how our room had two floors and so many moving parts. It renewed my interest in the whole concept of escape rooms and I can't wait to try more. read more

Having never played anything like this before, I was intrigued when my friend suggested we go here for his birthday. I made the long trek to Downsview Station and took the bus from there, as I wasn't sure of the walking distance. As an FYI, it's a 5 minute bus ride from the station itself and probably a 15 minute walk. The unit itself is at the back, facing towards Allen Road is not the easiest to find. Once you walk in, you are greeted by the staff at the front desk and immediately notice the various board games and a large seating area to relax while you wait for your friends to arrive. I found the staff very friendly and understanding that it was our first time here. Sometimes with specialty games like this, I feel a bit intimidated but this was definitely not the case. Although I didn't really know what to expect, our instructor sat our team down and explained the various rules and regulations, and explained that there was an emergency exit available if any of us freak out, and that we were free to leave at any time. We did the "Mayan Mystery Room" which was the beginners game. Although it took us 55 minutes to complete, we definitely didn't feel the time going and had a great time. The puzzles were complicated enough to make you think for the entire time you are playing, and we definitely felt mentally exhausted once we completed the game. You can tell that the staff here take great pride in what they do, and we found the room very well put together and convincing. There was definitely a lot of effort put into the various puzzles and we appreciated that a lot. For $10 each, you can't go far wrong and it's definitely a fun night to spend with friends or for a special occasion or work gathering. This is my favourite escape game location in Toronto. I have play most of their missions and they are all really well made. You can tell that the team puts alot of effort into creating these games, from the gadgets, to puzzles and storylines, these games have it all. My favourite one is the Syndicate Relic - this one is full of really cool mechanism and gadgets. Involves a lot of team work and attention to detail. I felt really immersed into the story line. If you like horror type - Unknown, Noriko and Crossroads are good games and the bleak prison is really well made as well and requires teamwork. Once you've been to Escape Games, no other location really compares. read more

I've frequented other escape rooms in the GTA and I can say that this was the best experience I've had by far - not the least because I'm a horror junkie. My friends and I did "The Unknown", which came with a warning suggesting those who were pregnant, claustrophobic or generally wussy need not apply. Fortunately our pregnant, claustrophobic, wussy friend wasn't free today. It was well designed, with great gameplay. I didn't find the experience that scary, but it was fun. read more

Just completed the Subway room (The End of the Line) and WOW. The production value is too damn high. Its very clear that they spend a lot of time and effort into it. Won't give away too much of the puzzle but the theatrics in this are amazing and even a little spooky! We escaped but just barely! Some of the puzzles in that room were so stupidly simple that we complete overthought it while other puzzles in the room were much more time consuming. I am now a regular at this place; the owner will greet me with a 'welcome back' which leaves me slightly humbled and a little embarrassed. I've taken it upon myself to expose this type of entertainment to my friends, family and everyone in between. At this point I've been to about 5 of their missions, and they have NEVER failed to impress me. Each of their missions (even from their 'gen 1' aka original mission) have a large amount of thought put behind it; much better than other locations. What's even better is that they're consantly updating. Since the first time I visited their location, they've introduced 3 new missions - Noriko, Syndicate Relic heist and the Unknown. The Unknown mission is as good as it gets. Rarely do you leave an establishment thinking 'this will be something I'll never forget.' I can't wait to try the other places. I only wish the best for this company and hope they branch out to other locations! (travelling to downsview from Mississauga each time is a little cumbersome). read more
