These are very poorly built. Siding started rippling away after one month of rain. Roof is not built to the manufacturer's specifications and is expected to last only 2-3 winters according to a contractor who I trust. These are cheap.... Don't waste your money. Appalling customer service, and their warranty isn't worth anything. If you're thinking about an Escape RV, consider this: When the Unit arrives, you'll be presented with what may be considered a "no warranty warranty" which largely disclaims responsibility for the product (btw this is illegal). Non-covered items include the wood they use which, because it's not cured, is bound to expand, contract & buckle as it did w/in 2 weeks of arrival. Non-covered items also include the windows as they're manufactured by another biz (although, of course, chosen & installed by Escape) as well as practically everything else in the house. Escape OneXL diary: 1) W/in 2 weeks of delivery, siding buckled, latches fell out of 2 windows, a shade to an upper window can't be closed/opened...the cord is 2 ft too short. 2) 5 mos after delivery, roof leaks in 2 spots, w/in sev'l days more leaks. Roofer finds screws inserted at angles. 3) 12 mos after delivery BR mirror falls, breaks thro shelf, cracks into pieces. 4) 15 mos later 2 more window latches fall out. 1 window won't open, 2 won't lock. 5) Roof continues to leak. Roofer reports design & materials used are shoddy...to wit: a. The Styrofoam at lowest end of the roof crushed...no airflow b. Ice & Water shield used is cheap & abrasive...it rubbed against the metal leadng to rust c. The compressed foam trapped condensation, led to water puddles which make their way to & thro screw holes d. With only 1" of insulation, he's shocked I wasn't frozen out during winter e. Plywood soaked w water, pooled under & over the spray foam. Mold present f. Rusted metal had to be replaced. g. 2 years in, kitchen water pressure trickling. Apparently, a leak. Could be massive repair. TBD. A FOI request w the WI A reveals numerous filings against Escape listing the same problems (roof, windows & a cpl of cases w heaters putting owners at risk for carbon monoxide poisoning). 2 owners were, like me, offered reimbursement for repairs (the roof & buckling siding) but only after signing a non-disclosure agreement (ie gag order) preventing us from warning you of issues you'll likely encounter shd you buy an Escape RV. They are expert at obscuring truth. 1 comment from the Dan (Escape owner) on Google directs people to "all of the independent reviews on Airbnb escapevacations.net." These are NOT reviews by OWNERS but guests. Note also: Google reviews depend on "Local Guides," not owners, boosting ratings not w ownership experience but...visits to the factory?? "What an amazing operation they have here." "WOW! Thank you for the tour." 1 review (5 STARS!!) is written by Escape's own Service Mgr, Cory Cipra, who writes "Excellent craftsmanship ..the team at Escape does a wonderful job!" Do these people have no shame? (They do not.) And...what the heck is this one from "Robert Mitcham" about? "Cory was a big helper when it came to moving these. Never had any problems with directions when delivering these units." And from Gene: "Great people...fun place to work." HUH??? Clever way to boost star ratings! (Confound a factory tour, employment & contractor experience with ownership.) "Phillip" reviewing on Google nails it "Scary stories from actual buyers should make you run from this place. Don't be fooled by the 5-Star reviews from non-buyers." Dan replies "Ironically, this person has never bought anything from us." LOL. "Adrian" gives Escape 1 star & writes: "This company is a nightmare to deal with. I really wish I would have been able to read more actual reviews before taking the plunge on this overpriced box. I had the same experience as others on here with the lack of direct conversation (weird), and the admonition to just "read my website" when I had questions. That left phone calls out so I couldn't ask questions. I agreed to buy the model I stayed in anyway, but remarked that the glass in the front entry was cracked. I was told that if they fix it, it would cost me more (?!). Same with removing the TVs since I have one. Nope, that will cost you more. After a long painful process wherein this guy had the ****** to suggest that maybe my mental health was the problem, I just gave up. I had been more than patient and tried to work in the parameters, but it just got me judged - and by someone I'm sure knows nothing about my or anyone elses mental health. First phone call - no response. Second phone call - no response. So I sent an email asking if I could ask some questions. They wrote back and said to submit my questions in writing, I did so. They responded that I had too many questions, and to drive six hours round trip to the closest Escape tiny home and that will answer my questions. I wrote back - hey, my first question was lead time and my second was shipping cost, I just need a quick call. Crickets. I had a bad experience from the first call I made when owner Dan tried to pre$$ure sell me the stock model before I could even ask the first initial basic questions. My mistake was l should've ran! Greed, drives this narcissist owner- Dan! He treats his employees and customers equally as poorly. His delivery driver admitted to have been working 15 plus hours straight and later I noticed my home had been damaged in delivery process or before! When I contacted owner he sicked his lawyer on me and wouldn't even take responsibility or do anything to fix the damage after I paid full price with lots of damage to my home! He also treated me with so much disrespect and blamed me for the damage his driver caused! He's sexist and unethical and unprofessional! I highly suggest going to ANY other company! Dan is bad juju! This guys digging his own businesses grave! He will get his by his own karma. I would never support a company that screwed me over so badly so if someone asks.."some one made it for me!" I would never share this companies info or name after how I was treated! You just can't treat customers like you did to me-and have a lucrative business! What were you thinking!? After years of researching and waiting, I was finally able to purchase my tiny home. I chose this company. Bad decision on my part. I spent months corresponding with them. I reside in Oregon, they in Wisconsin. Many emails and phone calls were exchanged. My home was going to cost $105K! They wanted 60% up front and 40% 3 weeks before delivery. Ok by me. The only big hitch in the process was when I asked they mirror image the floorpan, which they said via email originally they could do. Then towards the end of the process they let me know they could do it but it would take 4 months to build instead of 3 months. I told them I could not wait for that timeline, because of weather in Oregon and needed it in 3 months. I decided to forgo the flip in floorpan and go forward. Down to literally the wire, after making the cost spreadsheet and finalizing every single little point, they told me they would send me the wiring instructions within 24 hrs. I was over the moon. I was ready with the 60% down! 2 days went by and I didn't hear a word from them. When I contacted them, the sales man I had worked with for so many months told me he had bad news, because of my 'special' requirements it was going to take 4 months. I pointed out the obvious, that I did not have any 'custom special requirements' that wasn't on their list. They brushed me off saying, "oh, it's because of sales lately". ? I was so disappointed and confused, I had spent literally months in the planning process only to be dropped at the very last second. How in the world was I going to begin this process again and get my home before fall? A builder in North Powder Oregon came to the rescue. Not only did this man (company) build me a luxury beautiful tiny home, he did it within the time frame! It actually exceeds in craftsmanship and luxury over this Escape Co., and it was done $15K less expensive! Rich Tiny Portable Cabins...hands down is the BEST! If you want to follow your dream and have a luxury tiny home built, DO NOT go with this company. I'm sure they don't do this to every customer, but you will be wondering if you are going to be the 'one' they screw with. This is my story and my months long experience with this company.
