It had interactive puzzles with a pretty good flow. The space was comfortable for all 8 of us. Communication with your team is key! The Game Master was helpful without giving too much away. This place was mehhhh at best. Let's start off with the check-in process. I registered all of my guests using the same email so we don't get extra spam emails. The gal at the front desk gave us a very hard time because of this. We stood there in awkward silence for a minute and she said I will not let this happen again. Ok, weird. The game was fun and a little bit challenging, but everything was delayed and pretty broken down. Definitely the worst of the escape rooms we have done. Jacob was our game master for the clock tower and the theatre. Not only did he allow us to finish he gave an amazing walk through so we really under stood the flow of the game. He was strategic with the clues he shared and made us work for it in the best way. You can tell hes super passionate about the space and rooms. It was one of my favorite escape room experiences and Ive done 100+. We will definitely return when we are back in St. Louis . Had such a fun time at Escape the Room STL. We did the Clock Tower room. I did the room with my dad, his fiancé, and my husband on a Saturday afternoon. We were the only people who had booked the room so it was just us and we ESCAPED!! The room was so fun and had many surprisingly twists and turns I was not expecting. It was super well done, I had done one room in Chicago before and this one was way better! Thank you to Ethan our clue master, he rocked, he pushed us but when we got really stuck he gave us helpful hints. We reserved through their online system about an hour before our room started, no issues. Would return to try some of their other rooms. The technology they employed was really high tech. read more

Service was friendly. We showed up on time and they took us straight to our room. It was a series of rooms. With 5 people we weren't paired with any other group but we also booked ahead. They had a few clues that throw you off the scent but most of them were good. The helper made sure we were on track. You really do have to reach around the bottom of drawers and piece together clues. This was our second time playing at this facility. Today we did The Clock Tower. Thanks to Covid-19 all rooms are now private. The positive is that you don't have to partner up with strangers BUT expect rooms to book faster and be more expensive so plan ahead! This time our team of five consisted of two adults, two teens and one who could be counted as a teen. Experience levels ranged from first timer to who knows how many times. We played on a Friday night with a 9:30 start time. This area is popular with bars and restaurants so parking can be tricky. We paid $10 to park at the lot a block away. Also, allow time to get here. I saw one group arrive almost 30 minutes late. They were informed that the room had already started at the appointed time making the escape nearly impossible. We started on time in the room. Not sure why but we felt dumb from the start. Clues are given at the game-master's discretion. Once we got rolling the game and story line worked well. The props were well done and worked properly (even when it seemed they were not working). What I enjoyed most was that this was not a room full of locks. These were puzzles that mechanically did things when properly solved. No trying to match keys or 4-5 digit combinations. Another bonus is that we were not jammed into the room. We had space to move. From the start we could partner up with another person to solve one riddle while another group tried another across the room. I highly recommend for groups with teens and above. Too complex for younger than that. Also, this is not the greatest part of St Louis so earlier the better. Besides that, some variation of the team will be back! read more

Any escape room you go to will be fun as long as the puzzles work and make sense and that is definitely true with this place. We did the clock tower escape room where you basically have to help your mentor escape from a time loop or something before he gets stuck there forever. I thought it was good, but not great. Some of the puzzles don't make much sense and a couple of the puzzles were a little broken. The puzzles themselves though were of moderate difficulty. We had a bunch of escape room virgins with us and I thought it was a good one to start us out on. Having no escape room reference to compare to our virgins thought it was really really cool. It was a much more relaxed vibe compared to other escape rooms I've done, I didn't feel super stressed about time at any moment. We had a clue master who would help us when we were stuck as many times as we needed. I posted pictures of the area, but not anything in the rooms to keep them a secret. read more

Went to the Bank Room on Feb 18, 2023 with 8 people and 2 more people were added by the business. Ten people were now in this small room and it was crowded. Starting to look for clues and realized that some of the objects were not working. At one point an employee had to come in and give us a substitute clue because the one was not working and we could not complete the task. Another clue involved a clock and even though we were doing the right things it never did work. We did get many of the clues completed but ran out of time. The experience was alright but the room was very rundown and disappointing. Considering the cost per person I would not go to this particular location again and would advise the business to close for a week and update their experience! read more

Im starting to have major doubts about my own ability... This is the 3rd one I have done and have never been able to get out. We did the Dig and it was HARD.. I also think the group I had with me might have been like "F*** IT" At many points they were all just sitting down. It was hot, there was no air in the room, so I understand, we got decent hints, I feel they could have helped us a TAD more but otherwise It was a good time. Filthy place. Restrooms hadn't been cleaned forever. Staff were peculiar. Figured out the escape room in 7 minutes. Not challenging, but could use a good cleaning to cut the germs of previous contestants. What's up with the fan in the escape room? Cord created a trip hazard. Waiting room chairs were junk. Be nice for the price paid to have complimentary water to keep from getting dehydrated in the rooms. Hopefully the health department will check this place out for the safety of All patrons. All in all, a great time and a well-run operation. I've done two rooms, The Dig and The Agency. I found The Dig to be the most interesting and atmospheric. I did enjoy the Agency as well. Both are pretty damn challenging, be prepared to do some serious detective work/puzzle-solving. The staff has been consistently nice and friendly. This makes a great group activity, I did one for a bachelor party. The process to book a room online is pretty easy to follow. My first escape room experience, and it was a good one! I went with a collection of Yelpers for an unofficial event, and I think everyone had a good time. The room was well-crafted and the puzzles were thought-provoking. I knew only one person out of the dozen in the group, but we instantly all worked together as a team, so if you've never been, don't worry about trying to work with strangers. The rob the bank room you have to move a horse shoe with a magnet and the time that it normally takes is like 25 to 30 minutes which is half of the time and me and my family thinks that is dumb because if your not good at these or its your first time then it takes up the majority of the time and you wont have that much time to complete it. So me and my family do NOT recommend this if its your first time or you think that you are not that good. read more

We did the agency room. Chentelle was our helper for the room. I've only done one other escape room at a different facility. This one was really good! The difficulty was in my opinion a 4 out of 5. If you are looking for something new and exciting to do in the Lou, look no further! I had the opportunity to work with a team to solve the 007 room they had set up. As a first timer, I didn't really know what to expect, but it certainly surpassed my expectations. I was concerned about the difficulty/how 'into it' everyone really would be, but I can overwhelmingly say that once you're thrown into the mix, the intensity kicks up and everyone has a blast trying to find their way out of the room! There were numerous surprises during the experience that I won't spoil, but with this room being so much fun, I'm definitely going to try to bring more friends back to try one of their other experiences. Excellent spot to bring friends or a date and work together to do something different, exciting and mind-bending! You'll have an excellent story to tell when you're finished, and using your brain to solve clues is definitely better for you than a typical night on the town. Give it a try! 4.5/5 stars now that I've tried two out of four rooms at Escape the Room! My team was unable to escape The Dig (Indiana Jones/The DaVinci Code-themed) but some friends and I came in last Friday to try The Agency (James Bond-themed). I was worried that the second room wouldn't be as fun or exciting since I had already attempted The Dig, but the two experiences were completely different. The clues, puzzles, and layouts of the rooms were nothing alike. Also, the rooms are not actually "locked," so you can step out and use the restroom whenever you need to. Personally, I found The Agency to be more difficult than The Dig (but The Dig's puzzles were more amusing) and I honestly did not think we were going to escape. Luckily, our puzzle-master was able to give us hints when we REALLY needed them and we ended up escaping with 11 minutes to spare. Tickets are $28 but the experience is worth every penny. I highly recommend Escape the Room if you and your friends or family are looking for a fun activity that will challenge your minds and your ability to work as a team. The 60 minutes will be gone before you know it! read more

I did 2 rooms, "The Agency" (James Bond theme) and "The Dig" (Da Vinci Code/Indiana Jones theme). Their set design was very good, but some of the puzzles were really logical stretches. Also, I didn't like that there was no walkie-talkie communication between a group leader and the clue master like in other rooms. Clues just appeared on the screen. Granted you could ignore them, but it would've been better if I could just request them when needed. read more

Escape the Room was an amazing experience. The puzzles were challenging. It was thrilling when we would finally solve a puzzle and move on to the next clue. We had a full team of 10 which added to the chaos and excitement! Working together, we escaped "The Dig". It was one of the fastest hours of my life. The experience didn't just end when we escaped the room. As a team, we spent a good deal of time afterwards debriefing. As a participant I would work on various clues and chase different trails. Sometimes with others. Sometimes alone. Something I would discover would spark or collide with someone else's discovery. But I would only participate in part of the clue. It wasn't until after our escape debrief that the entire group was able to put it all together. There was lots of excited talk as we finally connected all of the dots. Escape The Room was an awesome experience. I can't wait to try another room. You should see if you also have the wits to... "Escape The Room!" (said in old time radio drama voice). read more

My coworkers and I came here after dinner and we had a BLAST! We had to escape the apartment (which is for groups up to 12 - there were 5 in our group), which we did with only 14 seconds to spare. Definitely challenging, especially after copious amounts of sake and other adult beverages at dinner. Another plus was the Cards Against Humanity game in the waiting area. LOVED this. I've done the western, the spy one, and the apartment. I loved all of them but the spy one was my favorite. It was REALLY tough but luckily my team carried me through it. We escaped from all 3 but we are all puzzle nerds. I wouldn't have been able to do it alone - this is all about team work. Good communication goes a long way in this game. I have never been on a room escape outing before, so in reading up I realized that it is a team effort if you want success. It was fun to be part of such a good group. With our group of ten there were always enough puzzles to go around so that nobody felt left out. In fact one discovery or ideas would spawn everyone's creative juices. Ideas for solutions were flowing from everyone. This was a fun outing. Went with a full crew to "The Dig" and had a great time. Everyone in our group brought their diverse skillsets into play on this adventure. There were a few instances when we tripped events that we shouldn't have but seeing as it was opening night I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that these issues have been addressed. That said, they didn't take away from the chaos and excitement of the experience at all. After we finished we spent just as much time putting the whole experience back together from everyone's viewpoint to get the full picture of what really happened. Like old men telling of war stories from years past we shared our failures and successes on each puzzle. I was surprised to find out that this is for younger people too. I went for the first time last night with a friend to celebrate my birthday. It was a lot of fun but it was just the 2 of us and quite challenging. I enjoyed the mental challenge of the game. However, I can only give 4 stars because I unknowingly chose the most difficult room. I wish the website would give a little more indication as to the difficulty of each room and maybe suggest a less challenging room for beginners. Also, when we were given instructions, the young lady talked really fast and was sometimes difficult to understand. But we're already planning on coming back and gathering friends to make this group bigger to make escaping the room within the realm of possibility. read more
