I would highly highly recommend this place! It was my first time and San Miguel and a friend recommended to go here. There are some tips to make your experience, even that much more enjoyable. I will give you those tips in just a moment. The place is so beautiful in nature. There is a lovely spa which I would highly recommend to get a treatment. I left there floating and feeling so relaxed. So here's some tips that I would highly recommend: 1) Get there as soon as it opens. You will beat the crowds and you will also get one of the chaise lounge chairs, that are are near the thermal baths. 2) I was greeted by wonderful Leticia who gave me a tour of the whole place. As soon as you buy your ticket, ask for directions to make your life a little easier :-) I'd recommend that as you enter, go LEFT past the swimming pools and then you will see these chairs, and you will be very close to the actual hottest thermal baths. It is interesting, because it looks like these little igloos on an incline. You enter the first little igloo and it's heated and then you keep going through multiple ones. It is like something most of us, have never seen before. The water for me was the perfect temperature because it was very warm, but not so hot that you couldn't tolerate it. 3) Bring your own towel and if you have a lock, bring it. I was traveling and didn't have a lock, but I easily purchased one there at the very entrance when I bought my ticket. 4) Treat yourself to a massage with Gabriela. I am not kidding, I've had massages all over the world and I think it was the best one I've ever had. I did the hot stone massage which I absolutely loved. She spent so much time with me and it was half of the cost as it would in the US! The spa is located all the way towards the right as you enter the property. 5) I went to the Mexican restaurant on the property, and had the house mole. It was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is closer to the spa. There is one server who was helping everybody so it will not be a fast experience. But why would you want it to be? read more

Giving one star is too much This place is far from the pics and fame that shows their pics Is so dirty, everywhere and lack of maintenance The water is not so good as well and the Caverns are tiny and narrow to enter....simply disgusting Once you arrive there is no directions where to go Yo go and walk and walk and no one to help you. Went to the spa ( by the end of the road ) and the answer was to go back to the entrance to buy the massage ? what is this ? Despite reading the negative reviews, we decided to take a chance, on a Saturday morning, and experience this place. We enjoyed ourselves! It was a wonderful break from the noise of SMA. The water was warm enough to relax, the scenery is lovely, and the locals were quite friendly. Besides the sun and water, you can stroll the grounds, and enjoy the wildlife. Lots of turtles and fish in nearby pond. The lockers were taken, but it felt safe to leave your things while in the water. We were pretty much the only gringos, which I also enjoyed! read more

If you're looking for a "relaxing day spa" this isn't the place, but if you're looking for a place to bring your kids so they can run around and play in the water you found it! It's extremely crowded in every pool and LOUD! It's unfortunate because this place has so much potential. read more

This was an interesting place. I really enjoyed the natural hot tubs. I tried 2 of them. One was really warm and the other was luke warm. The hot one has a huge chorro de agua that comes out of a wall and literally massages your entire body. Must try! Beware that it is pretty powerful! I scheduled a 30 minute massage...it was amazing! I coulda went for an hour but we were short on time and there was only one massage therapist. The great part of booking a massage is that you get to use the spa facilities for a shower, changing room, private restroom and of course, the indoor hot bath tub. The price for my massage was $15. Dollars. The entrance fee to the entire place was $150 pesos which was around $8.00 and includes all hot tubs and swimming pools. Oh man where to start. I read so many reviews and really wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Sadly this place has an identity crisis between wanting to be a high end spa, and being the family bbq hangout with screaming kids and everyone playing music from their own boombox. First, this place is way is really tucked in from the main road, and I wouldn't advise it if you don't have a car. It's a long barren dirt road back to the place. We took an Uber out there but then got kinda stuck. By the way, the grounds are HUGE!, but there are hardly any signs, and I was unsure where to go and how to go about things once inside. Second, I wouldn't recommend this place if you want peace and quit. Even in the domes where silence signs are placed, some people were rowdy, drunk and loud. People were even in just their thong undies and bras, not swimsuits. Second, our massages were absolute crap. I don't think these ladies have any training. Hardly a massage, and more like a rub down. Tranquil music was played from a masseuse's cellphone. This is more for groups of friends or families wanting to make food and splash in the water. It was quite crowded for a winter Saturday, I think my boyfriend and I were the only gringos we saw all day. The one thing I did like was the cafe! Decent food and drinks. read more

Having been to La Gruta last year we had some idea about hot springs. This place was upscale- beautiful grounds, easy brick pathways and even stairs. However - No directions on where to go once you are inside the walls. No one to ask, no arrows. The map is not even helpful. When we were done and waiting for our taxi, a couple who had also just exited asked if we found the spa. They only found one pool, and thought towels or locks might be provided. I sent an email two days ago asking for information and a massage appointment. No reply. For such a nice spot, please get some English signage and information source prior to arrival - such as, bring towels, bring a lock, bring a jacket, sign up for spa and pay before treatment, there is a restaurant and a snack shop, etc. On the positive side, the hot spring grotto/caves were amazing. Great 42 degrees Celsius water and powerful inflow - better than the massage! Great at 8:30 am until the families with little kids arrived. Still not crowded however. Deep tissue massage (600 pesos 55minutes) was at most a Swedish massage. Sauna was extra. Long hike to spa from any pool, etc. read more

So. The park is lovely. And it's a great way to get out of town. It was pretty crowded with locals which was a nice change. You'll need to bring your own towels. The restaurant there was sooo cheap yet delicious and simple. It's a real. It's really a awesome excuse to get out of town and away from the tourist. I'm giving it only three stars because the spa was not a spa. There weren't towels or soap and you had to pay fir each things separately. Like there was a separate charge for the steam and jacuzzi. And you had to walk up a hill to pay for stuff. Like you couldnt add anything at the spa. You had to walk to the main office. Just weird and it was cold in the spa and really old and broke down. And the staff didn't seem to know anything. read more

This place was nice. 150 peso for entry and you are able to bring your own food an a drinks into the park. They have toms of shade cover by trees, benches, tables and space to have a family fuction and bbq. The most exciting part was the hot springs. The water was clean and HOT. Very relaxing just like a hot tub, beautiful rock and waterfalls into the enclosed grottos. The only downfall is that it can get crowded. They also have addituonal pools for kids and a quite pool for adults, gift shops, massages and a restaurant on site if you choose not to bring your own food. I recomend bringing you own food to bbq or picnic and making a day out of it for a good experience. read more

I really like this place... it's probably not the most authentic experience for hot springs but there's numerous pools of ranging temperatures and styles. Some are like thermal cupolas while others are great for lounging near with a picnic or frisbee. There's a snack bar with alcoholic beverages too if you fancy a michelada between your swims.
