awful drive thru attendant. the ice cream was great, don't get me wrong. i pulled up and asked what the strawberry shortcake included and he said 'i don't know, i've never had it'. rough start. i said i wanted three items and he repeated one wrong (i asked for a wedding cake custard special thing and he said a wedding cake twister) i repeated what i wanted three times and he confirmed, then i still received the twister. he scowled at us as we drove off with some passive 'have a good night'. i understand there are a lot of customers, i do. i work food service as well. but this was extremely disappointing as how shockingly rude, dismissive, and uncaring he was. i don't know his name (no name tag or anything) but i will not be returning. read more

I loved Eskamoe's custard until yesterday's visit. After ordering, we sat at the closest table near the window and waited....and waited. Counter girl said it would be just a few minutes for our order - a cone and cup. Several people behind us came and went with their orders but we were never called. After at least 15 minutes I went to the window and asked how three groups of people after us were served before us. Frustrated, I asked for my money back. No explanation or care at all, she just said "sorry" and gave me back my money. When you pay $10 for two treats, one would expect better service than this. I hate this happened because I really like their custard. Wish I could speak to the owner as I have more to say privately that's not appropriate to say here. read more

Chocolate shake was ok. Seemed like vanilla custard with chocolate syrup rather than chocolate custard though. Not much chocolate flavor. Wife ordered vanilla waffle cone that was good. Their custard is not as good as other shops we've tried. It was not bad, just not as rich as others. Nothing preventing us from going back but nothing to make me want to go back either. read more

Tuesday is student discount day. Been here a few times and it's been a cute spot to hang out with my partner. It's decently priced though I make an effort to go on student discount days anyways. Eskamoe's is a ice cream and snow cone place so when it gets really hot that's where my mom takes me and my brothers. My favorite thing to to get is cotton candy ice cream with gummy worms. Also tiger blood is really really good as a snow cone. Tiger blood is the most popular flavor out of all the other flavors. 10/10 recommend that flavor. Eskimo's also has puppy cups. As me having a puppy, he loves it! Also recommend that. Overall, Eskamoe's is a 10/10. read more

I have been here twice since I have been in Ruston. The snocones are okay, but I would not order one again. I ordered a cup on cotton candy custard my second visit and it tasted exceptionally well, except there was barely any in the cup. When I drove back through the line to ask the lady why the cup wasn't filled up, she proceeded to say that since they have to mix in the cotton candy flavor they can't serve more. I had heard two things about Eskamoe's: that it is the BEST frozen treat you can get in Ruston and that it is owned by Karl Malone, our very own in-town celebrity and Louisiana Tech alum. Super excited to try it out, I was surprised it is kinda set up like a Checkers fast-food joint. Walk-up windows and outdoor tables, with a huge selection of flavors and choices. They have ice cream, frozen yogurt, custard, and iced. I ended up getting the Cheesecake custard with strawberry topping and was amazed. Not only at how good it was but at the prices too, less than $2 and that included a waffle bowl. They also have discounts on Tuesdays for students. Will. be. back. read more

What's not to love about frozen custard blended with deliciousness like Heath, butterscotch and roasted pecans? Eskamoe's (not from Alaska, apparently) may not be the best custard you've ever eaten, but it's plenty good enough. Clean, friendly service and fair prices, too. My only complaint is that they charge you .25 for a cup of tap water, so if ice cream makes you thirsty, bring a bottle of water. read more

Before Dairy Queen arrived, Eskamoes really didn't have competition on good frozen desserts. In my opinion, frozen custard is second only to gelato. And Eskamoes does frozen custard well. It's made fresh daily, and they have a variety of flavors and toppings. Concretes are the specialty, but they also have sundaes and other treats that kids may like. They also have hot dogs and BBQ sandwiches. Dogs can even get a small custard with a dog bone on it. The only real setbacks to Eskamoes are the location and occasionally the lines. It can be confusing to get there if you're not familiar with the location. The easiest way is to turn in on the main entrance between it and Johnny's. The drive thru wasn't really set up the best way, which means it can back up onto the road. Parking can be limited, unless you don't mind walking around the corner. The only other thing I wish they'd do is get rid of the paper cups/bowls the custard is served in. The custard tends to melt quickly due to heat from your hand. read more

The ice cream was okay but the amount you got in a regular was pathetic. Maybe they were running out of ice cream or something but when we ordered our regular arctic turtle and brownie Sunday it didn't come up to the rim and all the toppings were in the bottom of the bowl. Nothing special, but the prices are good. We came on a slow Sunday evening. All 3 of the large trash cans were overflowing (and smelled bad) and there was garbage all over the patio and tables... So, nowhere to sit. Gorgeous fire pit, but it wasn't on; it was a chilly night. Bummer. read more

Eskamoe's is home to the absolute slowest drive-thru in all of North America. My significant other and myself are currently sitting and watching the workers inside DO NOTHING. Love this place, the twisters are great.

I can't get enough of this place. The funny thing is that I didn't want to go there initially because I'd never heard of frozen custard. I went there by default because baskin robbins was closed and thank goodness for my bad luck. Let me describe why this stuff is so good. It's very similar to ice cream. However, frozen custard has a soft, whipped, creamy, fluffy cloud, melt-in-your-mouth consistency that is a delightful, heavenly dream. Just try it. You'll see what I mean. read more
