It's complicated. The snowballs are divine. Soft ice, flavorful syrups, and generous cream. The prices are a bit steep, but I'm more than willing to pay whatever they ask because of the aforementioned qualities. HOWEVER, prepare yourself for conflict if you dare to ask for a full-sized spoon here. I know, I know. The straws they give you have a small scoop built into the bottom. It's ingenious. A "stroon" if you will. But for me personally, I just need more surface area to really dig in there and get the perfect bite. So I ask for a s-p-o-o-n. Well apparently it's become a real problem with patrons making these absurd requests for full-sized spoons lately, because in the window is a sign with the "stroon" taped to it, educating all of us that it is indeed a "spoon". I see what you did there, Deb. *wink wink* Anyways, I give my order, and as the snowball is being handed over with only the stroon provided (and no napkins either because who would need those with an extremely sticky, drippy, open top snowball), I mustered all my courage to kindly ask, "May I have a spoon also, please?" ::RECORD SCRATCH:: The teenage worker made a face and quickly responded, "The straw IS a spoon." I could tell from her demeanor that it must be exhausting dealing with "spoon" people like me everyday. Now normally I would be willing to brush off an interaction like this without taking to the Yelp to talk about it-- but the thing is, this is becoming a regular occurrence. And it seems to me that a customer who is willing to pay premium prices for snowballs, should also have access to spoons (and dare I say napkins?) without controversy. Now I'm not saying EVERYONE gets a spoon. I am a reasonable human-being after all. But I am saying that if someone wants one, by golly, they should get one without debate. So I guess to sum it all up, the snowballs are tasty, but remember to request spoons at your own risk. Or perhaps, if you are a spoonie like me, just travel with your own. I don't know, friends, but I'm open to solutions, because quitting these snowballs is just not an option. read more

As an adult, this is the best snowcone I have had in years. We tried the strawberry shortcake sundae- delicious, the kiwi and shrek snowcones- delicious. My husband had an apple pie milkshake but said he just tasted vanilla. I know when we are back in Texas I'll be craving the strawberry shortcake sundae. Debbie's makes the best snow cones I've ever tried! I'm a lifelong snowcone snob, and I can tell you her flavors really are the best! My favorite flavor by far is the Pink Squirrel, stuffed with their homemade ice cream, and topped with cream. It's heaven in a cup! Now, just a fair warning, Debbie herself is sassy! She's a southern woman who calls it like it is, which is part of her charm! I feel like she really loves making people happy, which is something you can see in the quality of her desserts. She also caters! Her menu offers other things too, like a variety of homemade ice creams and snacks. Go try them out and ask for a reward card, because you'll definitely be back! I ordered my normal caramel sundae on my way to work. I found a string of hair in my sundae. I called to inform Debbie that there was a string of hair in my sundae, oh my goodness, what did I do that for. Debbie said there was not a string of hair in your sundae and hung the phone up. Visited around 3pm on a Thursday, chose to order at the walk in window since it was our first time looling at the menu. Service was prompt and the snowballs were made quickly as well. We got the moose tracks (chocolate ice cream flavor) with cream (sweetened condensed milk) on top, and the kiwi flavor. Both were good! Ice isn't as fluffy as my fave snowball stand in New Orleans but it was shaved well, and there was plenty of syrup flavor on each. We will definitely be back to try more! read more

I don't have a picture because I am too focused on eating my snow cone every time I go, but I'll try to add one next time. Since I was a kid my family always enjoyed snow cones, so I have had snow cones from a lot of different places not only in Louisiana, but also Mississippi and Texas. I feel pretty confident in saying that Debbie's is truly THE BEST Snowcone/Snowballs I have ever had. Period. I have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered, and the service is always great too. The ice cream is also amazing, it tastes like the homemade ice cream my Mamaw used to make. My two favorite things to get are a Pink Squirrel STUFFED and extra creme in top (it has their ice cream in the middle), and their newest creation Apple Pie Shake. They take a slice of warm apple pie and blend it with their ice cream! read more

If I was simply reviewing the delicious snow cones, this would be the easiest 5 star review I've ever given. However, my two star rating is highly generous considering the rude customer service from the teenage girls employed at Debbies. Upon walking up to the window, eyes were rolled at me and glares were given. Simple request for things like spoons or napkins were tossed at me and given with attitude. No eye contact was given as they handed me my card, as if they could care less to look somewhat interested in the customer (bad way to receive a tip). As a mother of 3, taking my kids to get snow cones is something they and I always enjoy. But after multiple tries with the same outcome, I will never return to Debbies. read more
